Sign in required - BT Home Hub 5 - Galaxy S5.

Hi,
I'm having a problem with my Home Hub and Galaxy S5. Whenever the WiFi disconnects from leaving the house, my S5 tells me "Sign in again" when I reconnect to my Home Hub.
I click on the my Home Hub in the WiFi list, it connects perfectly and there's no sign in needed to be done.
I previously had an iPhone 5 and this was never an issue, can someone suggest how to fix this?

Some devices have a problem with the Homehub sharing the same SSid between the dual band frequencies.
Try giving the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies different SSids. Just add a 5 to the end of the 5Ghz SSid so you know which is which. Check the 5 GHz Sync with 2.4 GHz: is set to NO.
Once you have done that "forget" the connection and then restart the phone and log onto both. The phone should then automatically switch to the strongest signal.
You'll need to connect your other devices that can use both frequencies to both SSids if you want them to be able to use both frequencies.

    Read another post in the forum about this and it appears this app also installs a profile with a proxy service that you will have to try and delete as well. Check that out.

    I just tried to sign up for BTFon via my home hub but it asked me to put in my bt internet email address and password and I really don't remember getting any paperwork or emails with my bt address or setting one up myself? How do I find out what my username is or if i'm even signed up for bt email?

  • Samsung Galaxy Mini Home Hub 2 Connection Problem

    My Galaxy Mini is connected to my home hub but I cannot access the internet.
    I have other mobiles connected with no problems.
    The phone is fine on other wifi connections.
    Anyone have any idea whats wrong?

    Hmm, my lad also has the same phone with no issues connecting to my HH2 or HH3
    (my hubs however are not set how they come delivered)
    When it's connected to the hub, with the phone switched on, remove the battery, then re-insert and power up and then allow the phone to re-establish the connection.
    (some phones can and do fail to 'talk' to your mobile operators servers, thus creating issues like this. rebooting should start the handshake process again)
    Does it now connect?
    Failing that you could adjust the hub's settings to something like this:
    Change the hubs SSID (BTHomehub2-****) to something simple like hub2
    Initially leave the wireless interface type at b/g/n (works for me) or just b/g
    Try a different wireless channel - though the other devices would also be flaky
    Try using just WPA2 (mines set to this) or just WPA
    You could try changing the wireless key from it's default - though all other devices would then need to be reconnected.
    Have you checked to see if it's up to date using Samsung Kies?
    Hopefully any of the contributions above will cure it, if not I'm sure the guys on these forums will assist you further.

  • Chromecast requires Home Hub 5 reboot every 48 hou...

    I am having a problem with my chromecast whereby it requires me to restart my home hub 5 every 2 days, i have re-configure the home hub so that it is only connected to the 2.4ghz channel which i originaly thought may have been the problem, anyone else have this issue and what was the resolution.

  • Can I connect a printer to home hub to print wirel...

    My first post, hope someone can help. I've just signed up to BT for my broadband (I'm still with Orange until the change over goes through).
    I can currently print from my wireless laptop (downstairs) to a printer (upstairs) that is plugged into the USB port on my Orange Livebox. Will I still be able to connect a printer to the new BT home hubs USB port & print wirelessly? (The printer doesn't have its own wireless capability & I doubt I'd be able to get hold of the required "optional parts" anymore as the printer is a few years old.)

    I believe the home hub has a USB port - if not it iwll be ethernet. Someone with it will comment I am sure as I have the v2.0 and it does have a USB port

  • Home Hub 3 - Smart TV Samsung

    HI all
    has anyone got any experience with Samsung Smart TVs connected to the HH3?
    When I had my Netgear router in the house supplying the internet to us, I could control the TV with my iOS device and also using my SGS (Samsung Galaxy).
    I could streem directly from my phones to the TV. Since I had the HH3 this isn't possible anymore. the phones just cannot see the telly.
    The TV still goes online and that better than before due to the increased internet access speed, but we cannot stream to it anymore.
    I put my Netgear back to see if for some reason it could be a fault with the TV but not, as soon as I had the TV connected to the latter it all worked again.
    any idea what I need to do to the HH3 to get this all back working?

    Sorry to crach this thread, I have a similar problem with a Samsung Smart TV.
    I have a Home hub 3 type b.  I can log on to the internet through my tv, either through a cable or wireless, but i can't seem to get any data downloaded, in particular i can't update the smart hub with any apps, can't use the browser, nothing. I've signed into allshare so some data is getting through, but that's as far as i get.
    I've contacted Samsung, but the 1st round of custmer service didn't know what to say and i'm waiting to hear from level two tech support.  I've posted on AV forums, but no one knows the answer there.
    Any ideas?  I've done full resests on the smart hub, the tv and the home hub. It could be a faulty TV... 
    Further questions, if it doesn't work with either wifi or an ethernet cable, would getting a new router (say the ASUS RT-N56U) help in any way for the TV to be seen properly, or is that purely to improve wireless signals?  My computer sees the TV as [TV]UE37ES6300, but the HH3 just shows this  udhcp 1.18.1-VD Linux VDLinux. 1C:5A:3E:7C:22:AF Connected.  IS that right?
    Is HH3 the problem? Can i completely get rid of HH3 and buy an new modem or is that the only way to access BT Internet?  I want to upgrade to Inifinity when it arrives here in December as my internet speed at best is 13mbs, often only 5mbs, but regularly drops to 0.5mbs on busy nights.  Not much good for watching anything online... I'm only 600m from the exchange. Does that sound right?
    Any help would be hugely appreciated.

  • Home Hub 3 config for new Infinity install

    Hi all,
    Well, I've been with Demon Internet since almost day 1, way back in 1993 IIRC. However as BT have now rolled out Infinity into our village, and I can almost spit on the Infinity cab from my office window, I've decided to jump ship from Demon (bad move perhaps?)
    I have quite a big internal network with several NAS, network printers and other stuff, and also use Wifi via an Apple Time Capsule/Airport Router that is connected to a Netgear router in brige mode.
    I don't really want to have to fanny about reconfiguring my whole network to a new subnet, and wonder just how 'manageable' the HH3 is? Will the Openreach eng. ensure the router is configured to my requirements or just set it up as default and so long as he has a gateway connection out onto the net will just leave me to it?
    Any advice, other than of course telling me that they may actually not bother to turn up at all....!

    Thw Home Hub is intended to be a "plug and play" router for residential customers with no technical knowledge.
    The engineer will normally go through connecting one computer to the hub to check that the connection works OK.  That's about all.
    Compared with more "professional" products, there's an awful lot that can't be tweaked on the HH.  If it matters to you, you may be better off buying your own cable router.

  • Home Hub 3: ethernet & wireless connections from i...

    I have a perplexing problem whereby the functionality I get from my Home Hub 3 is different depending on whether my brand new iMac computer running MacOS 10.7.2 is connected wired (i.e. using ethernet) or via wireless.
    The functionality difference has shown itself to me in the two scenarios below. It's a problem to me because the problems occur when the iMac is connected via ethernet and I want to use ethernet to connect my iMac. If the wireless connection to the iMac was as reliable as everything else on my network (mac laptops also running 10.7.2, windows 7 laptops, iphones, ipads etc) I would be content to use wireless. However, the iMac frequently drops the signal requiring a wireless on/off to get it back. I'm tending to hold the iMac responsible for this and await an Apple fix, although having changed the security setting on the Home Hub 3 to WPA2 only and set the channel to channel 4, the wireless dropouts are much less frequent, without these changes it drops the signal every few minutes. Any input on this would be gratefully received.
    I want wired for connection reliability (and speed), but I have a two situations where I get more functionality out of my network if the iMac is connected via wireless. A classic case of being caught between two stools.
    Scenario 1
    I have a WD MyBook Live NAS drive attached to the Home Hob 3 via ethernet with the intention of using it as a Time Machine backup disc for the iMac and to be a shared drive for our macbook and windows laptops. All seems fine at first with the iMac connected via ethernet, the browser can see the NAS drive and set it up etc, but Time Machine will only see the WD MyBook Live if wireless is switched on.
    Scenario 2
    I have an HP 5510 wireless printer and set it up and HP software installed on the iMac. With the iMac connected to the Home Hub 3 via ethernet printing is fine, however, scanning doesn't work, the scanner and iMac cant see each other. With wireless scanning is fine as well as printing.
    I haven't wanted to mess with it all any more, Ive spent hours going through the HP software, the WD software, the router as well as the network preferences on the iMac. It's not making make sense. Anybody who knows what's going on here would be a genius in my book!

    Hi mja, Apologies but I'm not the expert you're looking for, but a couple of my experiences may be of interest. I've got a WD my book running as a networked back up drive. A while back there was an update for a "USB" connected hard drive (which mine is definitely not) - this confused my PC -- wouldn't let it close down amongst many other symptoms --with great difficuly managed to disable the driver and sanity was restored. The other problem involved a print server that has a static IP address -------- my HH3 sometimes gives that IP address to other items on my network --------- this stops the printer working. Apologies if this post is not formatted correctly, I'm using an iPad --- not by choice,, All the best Michael

    I run a very small business from home and take card payments using an online application.
    I use a Home hub 3.0B
    Unfortunately my service provider’s security scan detects “that the following webpage  uses  basic authentication over an unencrypted channel  /:/ realm = HuaweiHomeGateWay “
    So if you look from outside you can get to the login page which is not protected by SSL which puts me in breach of my card processor’s security requirements.
    This also resolves to port 8080.
    I can’t see how to hide the log in page from the world or how to block port 8080?
    Hoping someone can help? I would like to avoid the hassle of buying and setting up another router.

  • Xbox 360: How To Open Your BT Home Hub Ports!

    If you use a BT Home Hub and Xbox Live, you may need to open ports for a better connection, even if your NAT tests as Open. Some issues that this will fix:
    Friends list Voice chat
    Joining friends list games
    Joining some games such as Call of Duty 3 (could not connect to all players error), or host in some games such as Gears of War. 
    I suggest backing up your router's settings after you make these changes if it works for you, and maybe before you start in case you mess something up!
    1. First lets reset our BT Home Hub to its factory settings:Link
    2. Go into your BT Home Hub and disable UPnP
    Go to http://bthomehub.home
    Click on Settings
    Log in with your Hubs defult Admin password.
    Click on Advanced Settings.
    Click on Continue to advanced settings.
    Click on Applications Sharing.
    Click on UPnP.
    Turn UPnP off and click apply.
    UPnP
    Universal Plug and Play. Great Idea. Not so good in the real world. In theory, you should disable UPnP if you set up forwarding rules. The purpose of UPnP is to automatically detect the ports that need to be opened, and open them for you. Unfortunately it doesn't always do it as efficiently as you could do it yourself. On the other hand sometimes a router with forwarding rules set up seems to connect better with UPnP enabled. Toggle both ways, remember to reboot the router after any changes you make. CONCLUSION ABOUT UPnP: Disable it before the first time you ever turn on your 360. 
    3. Lets make our Xbox IP address is static:
    In your 360's dashboard, go to the "System" blade and select "Network Settings", and then click "Edit Settings". You're now in the "Basic Settings" screen.
    Select the "IP settings" section. (later you'll also have to adjust the "DNS Settings" section right below it.). Change it from Automatic to Manual. You'll have to change all three things listed here:
    IP Address
    Subnet Mask
    Gateway
    Make the IP address about 20 numbers higher for the last three digits. For example, if your IP address is 192.168.0.101, you can use 192.168.0.121
    What numbers do I use?
    a) You can simpily write them down from the xboxes dashboard while you have it set to automatic.
    b) You can get this info from your PC. Go to start>>Run>>cmd. Now in the DOS interface, type ipconfig. The DNS is the same number as your gateway.
    When you entered all three items, click "done" and it will prompt you to do an Xbox Live test. You will fail it, but you have to test to continue (You can cancel the test before it ends).
    Now hit done again and back out to the Basic Settings, and select the DNS settings section, right under the IP Settings section. Change from Automatic to Manual. You only need to enter the Primary DNS server, leave the Secondary DNS server the way it is (blank). For the DNS server, you're going to use whatever you used for the Gateway.
    That's it. Now back out, do an xbox live test (otherwise it won't save) and you'll probably still get a moderate or strict NAT, or even Open. But even if it tests as open, that doesn't mean your ports are open. But it's a good sign.
    4. Open Your Ports
    Portforward.com is an excellent resource for this information. Select your BT Home Hub, next follow the tutorials to open the ports for Xbox live etc and the games you play!

  • XBox 360 and Home Hub 2 - NOT wireless

    I am now desperate so please help.
    MKy broadband works fine most of the time. When I attempt to play online on my Xbox 360 the broadband drops out every 5/10 minutes or so making it impossible. The broadband does not drop out at any other time, even when I just leave the XBox 360 signed in to XBox live. The issue only happens when I try to play online or even when I run a game. I'mm assuming it kicks me out when I connect to the game makers server or something. I've been trawling forums for days and tried all I can think of. Someone please help before I have to switch my ISP.
    I've done quiet line test. power cycles and been through settings in the Hub Manager but it makes no difference. This started happening around 2 months ago and was told it was the exchange but now they've no idea. I had been running with no problems for 10 months and then it started happening. I've made no changes to my PC, hardware or, as far as I know software. I am connected via ethernet (yellow) to the hub.

    To post the full stats from your router
    for home hub - 192.168.1.254
    Navigate to ADSL Settings or use the A-Z at the top right
    Click on More Details and then post the results.
    Run BT speed tester and post the results from http://speedtester.bt.com/
    If possible it would be best to connect to the BT master socket this will rule out any telephone/broadband extension wiring also consider the housing of the hub/router as anything electrical can cause problems as these are your responsibility, if these are found to be the case Openreach (engineer) will charge BT Broadband, which will be passed onto you, around £130.00.

  • BT Home Hub Manager - how do I get a session start...

    I'm a patient person but really ... I've been trying to get the d*** thing online so I can make some changes and I've veen waiting now for nearly three hours .... only 100 sessions allowed ... I had no idea I wouldn't be able to access my own router settings whenever I wanted when I signed up ... HELP!!!!

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
    Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.

Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Home Hub Ethernet Connections

    Have had the BT home hub 1 for years with 3 PCs connected via Ethernet & USB connections (wireless is useless as house is 170 yrs old with 15 inch thick walls that have defeated all wireless attempts). Now that I have vision there are not enough connections. An alternate provider is offering a similar speed unlimited service with a 4 Ethernet port hub and although it is far cheaper I've always had reasonable service from BT and don't really want to change (Mug?). Is there any way that a further connection can be made from the current hub or does this spell the end to an account I've had for many years?

    Have tried the ethernet thru the mains and it is too slow!   I have Cat6 ethernet from all four ports on the BT Hub Mk2 and each one terminates at NetGear Gigaswitches providing 4 further ethernet ports on each.  Yes that is 16 ports! They are all in use and I find that shifting large Jpegs and large video files around are no problem.  As well as the PC's, Printers, NAS drives etc., there is the BT Vision (Freeview), Humax PVR (Freesat), Blu-ray and Freesat TV to contend with.  NetGear Gigaswitches (GS605) are very cheap from Amazon at the moment and do not require any setup whatsoever....  having struggled to get Ethernet over the mains and wireless thru floor and walls, I know which 100% dependable route I prefer
