Signal bars disappeared!

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.1. First off, I have the proximity sensor problem that's driving me crazy. That said, I noticed today that I was driving down the road on the phone (Ford SYNC bluetooth), and the phone had no bars. When I hung up I pulled up a website just fine, but no bars were showing and it showed "E" for edge. I turned it off and back on. The bars showed up and it said "3G", which it should've said before, also. This phone has some serious bugs. It's very annoying to have it hanging up on people, turning on speaker phone while I'm talking, mute the phone while I'm talking, but I'm starting to see more and more bugs, and it seems to actually be worse now with iOS 4.1. I'm really disappointed in Apple. Oh, and I STILL cannot get the phone to connect to my laptop via bluetooth, which is ridiculous considering every phone i've ever tried has worked besides the i4.
Does anyone know if you wait three years to upgrade phones with a 2-year upgrade available whether you only have to wait one year or not?

As Tamara and roaminggnome have said, the two are independent of each other.
Turning off 3G should have no effect on your WiFi reception.
You can try powering down the iPhone and powering it back up (rather than just touching the sleep/power button and "sleeping" the iPhone):

You might also try resetting the network settings on the iPhone to get it to rejoin the WiFi network:
Go to Settings > General > Reset and reset network settings.
You might also try power cycling your WiFi router by removing main power from it for 2-5 minutes.

Carrier logo and signal bar dissappeared

Hi,
My carrier just got LTE support for iPhone 5 and I received updated carrier settings on my iPhone. As soon as they were installed so that it says "Enable LTE" instead of "Enable 3G", my whole status bar on the left side disappeared.
No Carrier logo, but much worse, no signal bar or wifi bar. But I do have signal... When I switch on "do not disturb" they appear again but disappear as soon as do not disturb is switched off again. So I can browse and call etc, but the status bar is just missing...
If anyone has any advice, please help! I tried resetting the phone, as well as switching it off and on again. More than once. No change.
I even restored my phone from a backup I made yesterday before the network settings have been updated.
I would be very grateful for any help.

No I don't think its necessarily because of the 4G rollout.
My iPhone5 has a Orange/EE 3G sim card and contract.
This is what my theory is...
My iPhone5 is set to automatically select the best network. It can see the 4G EE network is available, but when it connects via my 3G sim card it glitches / nullifies the signal and just reports that weird 000-00.
Ever since I turned off 4G / LTE in settings I have not had the 000-00 error.
So now it isn't getting confused with 4G and 3G signals, it doesn't give the error.
So my theory is supported by my experience.
Out of curiosity, is everyone who is having this problem absoloutely sure they have 4G sims??? I got my iPhone on release day, as a new contract, assumed it was 4G and only found out after a customer service phonecall much later that infact the new contract I had taken out was only a 3G one despite it being a brand new contract with an iPhone5 (yet that was one of the selling points by Orange / EE.)

Spry Menu Bar disappears absolute position

Hello all this is my first time posting on this site so bear with me. I have a semi-transperant spry menu bar that i inserted into the header div, over an image. I moved the menu bar -38px, when the position is set to relative the menu bar is visible, however the old position of the menu bar has a blank white space there. I think this is due to the relative position property. Apple does not repair devices beyond replacing the screen on some models or a battery replacement. They replace the ENTIRE device.
For the Out of Warranty replacement cost, you could have gotten a fully functional replacement device. Instead you chose to spend less to get only the screen replaced and continue to live with additional issues.
Apple will not touch the device now. They will know that it was opened elsewhere and that the replacement screen is not original.

Mac Keeps Crashing - Menu Bar Disappears and Nothing Will Run

I'm having major problems with a macbook, 2.2Ghz, 4Gb RAM, 160Gb Hard Drive, 10.5.2
I'm not sure if this is a software bug, something to do with the fact that I've recently installed 4Gb RAM, replacing 2Gb that I installed a few months ago, or possibly something with parallels desktop running Vista, I recently installed several vista updates.
Basically, there are several ways in which the computer keeps crashing - I've pretty much figured out how to make it crash now. When it crashes, the menu bar disappears, sometimes leaving the shadow beneath it and the right hand icons, sometimes not, and the dock becomes useless - nothing will run. I cant use expose etc or switch between windows. Pressing Cmd Alt Esc to open the force quit dialogue box bring up an empty box - implying that nothing whatsoever is running! I have to physically shut down the computer using by holding the power button and start it back up again. When it starts up, it sometimes continues to refuse to work until i restart it again. There is no message whatsoever about having restarted or crashed.
The computer will work fine for most processes, but the things making it crash are:
1. Entering Time Machine (I've had to stop backing up and disconnect my time machine drive now)
2. Using parallels desktop - I run windows vista, and it'll work fine until I launch any applications that are more complicated than just solitaire or freecell - windows messenger and powerpoint will cause the crash. OSX won't be working, but windows will continue to work fine - I can finish what Im doing and shut it down, although keyboard input no longer works. I then have to restart OSX.
3. Running DVD Player in Front Row has now started bringing up the grey screen of death and telling me to restart.
Obviously these things can be avoided - but I can't back up my computer, I can't watch DVD's without crashing the computer, restarting and then going straight into DVD player, and I can't use the copy of Vista on Parallels that I've just spent a fair bit of money on.
I've tried taking out each of the 2Gb Kingston RAM cards, which came brand new and sealed, to see if one or other is possibly faulty, but they are both causing the same problems. I don't have the previous RAM cards to hand to test.
Has anyone here experienced anything like this before, or can anyone help me?

Your problems seem to be exactly the same as the issue I'm having when it happens. Can I ask how much RAM you have installed, and how frequently the problem occurs? I'm curious also because I'm planning on buying an imac soon, and was planning on installing the 4Gb of RAM I have into that when it arrives - the £300 apple charges for the upgrade is a little excessive.
I mentioned that I've tried to download the latest firmware update, but it keeps crashing upon completion. Have you had any issues like this?
Another really obscure thing I've found regarding the firmware update is that it saves an install file to my Applications/Utilities folder. This file would cause my mac to crash. Every time I opened the utilities folder, it would crash. I moved it to the desktop, and had major issues where the computer would crash immediately upon startup because the file was there, and the same problem once I managed to get it in the trash. It was only by accessing the macbook in target disk mode that I was able to delete the file and use my computer as normal again.
Anyway, considering the problems I've had, would anyone say it's worth risking installing the RAM into a new imac when it comes, considering that the problems with my macbook are ongoing even when the RAM is removed and I can easily reinstall the operating system on a brand new computer, or should I leave it and buy some more?

It is gone in the new version of Safari and the Safari in Mountain Lion. You cannot get it back.
Search is now done inside the adress bar, so you did not lose the search functionally. The location has changed.

I am connected to wifi, but the signal bars in my menu bar say that the airport card is not installed. Any ideas?

I just updated my mbp with the icloud update and now my wifi signal bars in my menu bar stopped working and say that there is no airport card installed. I am connected to the internet through wifi just fine and the system preferences says that I am connected, just weird that the menu bar signal stopped working. if there is no fix, is ther an alternate wifi signal bar that i can put up there?

Icons in Menu Bar disappearing

Since installing Yosemite 10.10 the icons in my menu bar disappear and reappear constantly. All that remains is the spotlight icon (the File, Edit, View, etc. tabs are unaffected). From what I have read, not many others are experiencing this, since I haven't been able to find a forum regarding this problem. Anyway, one thing that might be relevant is that when installing Yosemite, my MacBook Pro shut off. The battery was fully charged. When I turned it back on, the MBP restarted the installation process and now I'm here. Aside from problems with iTunes 12.0.1.26 not detecting my iPod Classic, which many others seem to be experiencing, this is the only issue I have with Yosemite. Should I just wait for an update? I've posted two screenshots of exactly what it looks like with and without the icons. I named my MBP gucci little piggy after a track on Ok Computer haha.

Looks like my font has changed haha. Anyway, when I manually run it, it forces the icons to appear briefly, but then they return to flashing at seemingly random intervals. At one point I was spamming the .app and occasionally two sets of icons would appear in the menu bar; one set on the right where they normally appear, and another set of identical icons including my user name, time, battery life, etc. appeared in the middle of the menu bar. That led me to believe the problem may be independent of the SystemUIServer.app
When I created another user the problem wasn't there! Nice! Unfortunately I'm still stuck with the notorious flashing.

Nav Bar disappears in live view and in all browsers

I have an issue I haven't had before. I created a navigation bar right under the header. After adding my text for the links, I checked in all browsers and each time, the nav bar disappeared, leaving me with just the words. Also the font changed back to the page default. I solved the font problem by creating images using the font I want and now I get them all to show up, but the nav bar is still missing even though it is always there in Design View. Indesign cs6 menu and tool bar disappear between windows using mission control in mountain lion

heres 2 screen grabs before and after. while navigating between 'spaces' using mission control in mountain lion. issue - the menu and tools bars disappear - not all of them just parts of them. to get back i hit 'tab' button twice which hides and shows tools. very annoying - does anyone know of a fix or is this another bug which i have to live with. im using a macpro june 2012/running 10.8.4 and 2 screens - left for artboard - right for all tool windows.

thanks steve - yes that works as does using the tab key - all well....until i move to another 'space' and then come back again.
for example: my setup is like this - no2 space has indesign project. no3 space has photoshop. so im working on a page within indesign and i need to edit an image- i double click the pic and it opens in photoshop on the other 'space' save the file and go back to indesign to update pic and find menu/tools all over the place - so hit tab twice back to normal - until i 'move' out of that space into another - photoshop/ mail/ whatever - as i toggle between spaces the indesign menu will always be 'corrupt' for a better word. hope that makes sense.

Horizontal scroll bar disappears in URL isolation method iview

Hello Experts,
I am facing a strange problem. In MSS --> Reporting, when the report is generated, it is shown in a new window. That iview is basically having URL isolation method which has been disabled i.e. it cannot be changed(It is an iview created by SAP). The problem is the scroll bars. The report is basically a R3 report which has scroll bars but when it is displayed in the iview, the horizontal scroll bar disappears.
The requirement is to have both the scroll bars.
The horizontal scroll bar appears for a while when we manually resize the window.
I have checked the windows parameters also in which the scroll bars are set to 1 through code in WD java(not in the iview properties).
Please help !!

Vikash,
Header and footer can be handled from the property 'tray' of the page and iview. But this is not a matter of concern. Try the following to see if the report is getting generated-
1) Try toying with the properties of page- 'authentication scheme', 'initial state-open', 'isolation method-embedded','metadata for navigation hierarchy-cacheable'.
If the above do not help-
1) Preview your iView from the admin console.
2) Right click on the opened up window (where the report is getting displayed) and select properties.
3) Copy the address URL from that.
4) Create a URL iView for the above copied URL
5) Use this new iView to see if it resolves your problem. OR assign this to a page and then see it that helps.
Its really strange to believe the above, but it actually helped me in one scenario. Let's give it a try and then I can explain further its reasoning.

Status Bar Disappears in Mail App

Vonage sends me email attachments containing my voicemails in WAV (G.711) format. Although, G.711 encoded WAV's are very popular in telecom I understand they are not supported on the iPhone. I now convert these WAVs to MP3 and forward as an email attachment to the iPhone.
When I try to play the WAV attachment from the email app, the status bar disappears (only when in the mail app).
When I play the MP3 attachment from the mail app, the status bar no longer displays correctly (only when in the mail app).
I must power off and power on my iPhone for the status bar to return when in the mail app. I've restored by iPhone multiple times and the problem still occurs.
Email me, [email protected] and I'll forward the email containing the attachments.
How can I fix this?

This blog post discusses when support for MP3 and WAV email attachments was added by Apple. The supported was added in 1.1.1.

The screen shot even shows what the email attachment looks like.
It also appears that the status bar may have disappeared in that screen shot too.
So, MP3 and WAV email attachments are supported.

The address bar and all the command & tool bars disappear from my web page as soon as I log on. The leaves me with no way to enter a web address or navagate.

When I attempt to use Firefox, the address bar and all the command & tool bars disappear from view as soon as I start the program. I can see the scrolling our of view at the top of my screen. This leaves me with no way to enter a web address, navigate or even exit the program.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).<br />
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br />
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.

Help, my address bar disappeared, how do I get it back

I was trying to remove a bookmarked address, and the entire address bar disappeared. How do I get it back? None of the Safari preferences help pages
