Signal express custom calibration data, where is it?

I have a PXI 1042 rack with 4472 modules. I am using Signal exress 2011.
I have setup with custom scaling for the channels (so that I can log in engineering units rather than volts).
I have just replaced the disk and reinstalled everything. I have got everything working BUT...
When I try to open a previous Setup file it no comes up with an error stating it cant find the calibration values!
Is the custom scaling calibration data stored outside the Signal express setup file, if so where is it?
Thanks
mike

Ok sorted.
Refitted old disc with previous system on it. Ran  Measurement and Explorer and then exported the configuration data.
Fitted new disk, imported configuratio data and all the scaling is restored.
Useful lesson, I had always thought the scaling was held in the TDMS files but its in the .nce files from the measurment and Explorer.

  • Does Signal express save averaged data to LVM / Ascii / UFF file or all the individual runs?

    Hello,
            I am acquiring impact
datausing NI sound and vibration and NI cRIO 9233. I am averaging the
data over 10 hits and saving it to Ascii, LVM files. When I open the
file in excel I see 12500 readings. The frequency resolution is 1.25Hz
and range is 0 - 1562.5Hz that gives me 1250 divisions, which means its
storing each of them separately. Why is it doing so and not storing the
    averaged data?
Also could I possibly set a condition where
the data is accepted by the software only if the hit is good and I want
to accept it. May be like a condition where I could accept that data by
    clicking a push button?
Attached is my acquisition template and also
the data in ascii format. I collected data for 10 averages but the set
is showing data for 11 averages or sets of 1250 each. Could someone
    please help me out.
I need to get this going as soon as possible as I want to transfer data from Sound and Vibration assistant to another software.
    Thank you.

Scenario is like someone has changed the customer master data in past, We want to know who has changed it or when it has been changed
from WHICH Table I can get this information?
    Note:
I need the Table name only in which we can know who has changed it or when it has been changed or What are changed by them
    Thanks in advance,
    Best Regards,

    Dear Chandramohan,
Try this option you can get the change details clearly
Go to XD03 transaction enter your customer number and other details then go in to the general data from here you to Menu>Environment>Account changes-->Click on All fields now system will give the list of fields which were changed from these list you double click on the single field system will take you to the details of that again you double click on that now system will take you to more details about the changes.
I hope this will help you,

  • Can I have the user enter a variable to be used in Signal Express?

We are looking to use Signal Express to collect data from load cells and analog sensors. We would like the user to be able to enter a variable that the Signal Express program can act on. Is this possible within Signal Express?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Actually, I just found another way that you could perform this task when using the formula node.  What you have to do is create a DC analog signal, bind the variable to the offset parameter and then implement this into the forumla node.  I attached a screenshot below for your reference.  You will have to enable the created DC waveform in the formula node to reference.  Hope this helps!

  • Please outline structure of custom Bodeplotter in Signal Express somebody!!!

Hi measuring Bode diagram of low-quality DC-motors is hard (voltage in -angle out) because
    the "zero"-position is drifting away.
This is due to unwanted offset in the signalgenerator and/or nonlinearities in
    the DC-motor.
I've done a vi that detects a dc-offset in a signal and generates a "counter" DC-offset to compensate for it.
Now I need to use signal express to generate x number of signals consecutively, with increasing frequency, specified by the user,
While outputting each signal, it should be possible to add the counter-DC-offset.
When DC-drift is compensated, that is no DC component from the rotorangle-measuring-transducer,
SignalExpress should calculate and plot corresponding gain and phase shift in a Bodediagram.
This should repeat itself until all frequencies are measured are run and gain and phase shift is plotted in the same single diagram
    Kindest regards,
    laskar01

    Hello OKors,
For future reference, you can check the version of NI-DAQmx installed through Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).
    Start»Programs»National Instruments»Measurement & Automation
With MAX open, you can expand the Software section to see all NI Software installed and their respective versions.
You are correct that this process is somewhat of a table-based physical calibration.  We have not yet implemented the same Offset Null and Gain adjust type of calibration that you would find with the Strain task.  The calibration process available with the Custom Voltage with Excitation task is designed to interpolate between calibration data points.  Thus, you must provide at least two calibration points.  Your first calibration point could be zero (unloaded).  Use zero as your first reference point.  Provide a second data point to obtain a y = mx + b interpolation.  Apply a known load to your load cell and use this as the second reference point.
An alternative would be to simply take a measurement from your unloaded Load Cell and apply this to your Custom Scale.  You should be using a Custom Scale anyway since you don't want Volts but Lbs right?  In the scaling parameters of the Custom Scale, the Slope should be your load cell sensitivity (lbs/V) and the Y-intercept can be your offset.

  • Custom square wave duty cycle in signal express

    Hey everyone,
I am using an USB X Series Multifunctional DAQ Model 6361, with labview signal express 11 on windows7 (version 9.3.5) and I am trying to figure out if i can change the duty cycle of a square wave.  I need to have one period be at 75% duty cycle and another 25% or something along these lines.
    thanks!
    Adam

    Hi Adam,
I believe another Applications Engineer has corresponded with you concerning this issue already. If you are looking to generate a truly custom square wave where the duty cycle changes from one period to the next then you will need LabVIEW as this functionality is not supported in SignalExpress.
Using the Analog Output along with the Create Analog Signals options will allow you to specify one fixed duty cycle for your square wave, but this will remain constant throughout the generation.

  • Help creating custom waveform to load into Signal Express

I've never had to create a custom wave form before so Im completely new to this process.
Basically I need two output channels. Both channels will have the same waveform structure but one will have a time offset. In other words one will be starting while the other is ending.
Channel 1 waveform would look like this: One sinewave cycle (.25hz) then zero output for one cycle. Repeat.
Channel 2 waveform (meanwhile) would look like this: zero output for one cycle (exactly the duration channel 1 is in its sinewave), then one sinewave cycle (.25hz).
Both repeat continuously but out of phase of eachother. This will be a force/deflection test involving two hydraulic actuators applying a load to two points on the same specimen. Basically creating a walking condition where the customer would apply force to one spot then with the other foot transfer body weight to the second spot.
this is more complicated than what the basic function generator can handle but I have heard of people creating their own waveform in Excel and loading that.
Would this be possible for my application? What would the column structure in excel look like?
I've never created or exported a waveform to excel.
    Thanks.

    Hello OKors,
What if you were to use a Sequence step to separate the two waveforms (with "Run preceding steps before following steps" AND "Allow hardware reuse" checked) and had them output a finite amount of samples, such that each time one step executed a single cycle? It wouldn't be strictly timed as that would be handled in software rather than hardware, but it is a good place to start.
You could also import a signal that you created in Excel as an ASCII file and choose the delimiter (tab, comma) and start/end rows. It would probably have better timing qualities than using a Sequence step. To figure out what the signal would need to look like, I would recommend saving something to an ASCII file first to figure out what formatting SignalExpress would expect as an input.

Can I save data (in txt or excel format) from a snapshot from signal express 2013 LE?  My data buffer is too larege to export to excel.  When I try to take a snapshot, I do not see any data.  Are snapshots supported in the LE mode?  This is the free version that comes with the USB 6009 ADC.

Yes, the snapshot function is available for SignalExpress 2013 LE. Does the snapshot function as intended when you try other projects?

    Hello Munir,
I have tested this issue and it works properly for me. I am able to load multicolumn data in signal express (see attachment).I look at your picture which you have posted. In fact the delimiter is empty in your task. Even this information is very important and could be a reason for this behaviour. Please look in your text file and find out which delimiter is using between several columns. For example I use a tabulator in my text file.(see attachment)
    I hope this helps.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this issue.

  • How do I open/view Signal Express Data .tdms files? (Absolutely Brand New User!)

    Hi everyone,
I've inherited this data recording software from a previous engineer and tried it out for the first time the other week. Mind you I have no manuals or help really here, so bear with me that this is probably a very basic question.
I had a set-up using the Labview Signal Express ver.2.5 and NI-USB-6008 monitoring two voltages. I currently want to see the playback of the .tdms files which are located in my C:\Documents and Settings\TechSupport\My Documents\SignalExpress Data\08042009_015232_PM folder (3 files, voltage.tdms, voltage.tdms_index, and voltage_meta). I opened LabVIEW Signal Express and clicked "File", "Import", "Logged Signals From SignalExpress TDMS Files", and go to select the "voltage.tdms" file, but receive the error of "You cannot choose this folder name; a file of that name already exists".
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks for any and all help (and let the sarcastic comments begin )

Sometimes, selecting current folder instead of open is a valid workaround.
Also, can you identify the program responsible for creating the log data? Are you able to view this data using another progarm like LabVIEW or DIAdem?

  • Anlysing saved data in labview signal express

I need to collect data and later analysed them in labview signal express. I could do as i get thee data but saving the project and doing the analysis later is not working using the add step function.
    What should I do ?
Secondly how do you convert to ascii and export to excel or word when using signal express ?
    Regards
    Matthew

    Hi mathade,
I am not sure what exactly are you trying to do. Are you taking some signals from signal express and then saving them and later reading the saved values for analysis? If this is what you want to do, you can simple write your values into a spreadsheet and later on read it from there using the File I/O functions for doing the further analysis. If you want to do it in the same execution run, you can also hold the values in some shift registers and get the analysis done after the acquisition.
I can give you more information if you can post your vi so that I can take a look at your progress so far.

  • Where can i find labview signal express DAQ assistant at?

    Hi, i need help
Q1) where can i locate Labview signal express DAQ assistant at?
Q2) Is Labview signal express functions same as Labview 8.6 ?

LabVIEW Signal Express and LabVIEW are two different products.
If you are talking about the DAQ Assistant, then you need to have the latest DAQmx driver installed and you should be able to find in the Measurement I/O palette on the LabVIEW Block Diagram.

  • Report generation toolkit and signal express user step : problem of closing reference in "Stop" event

    Hi all,
I'm trying to make a package of Vis to easily make Excel reports with Signal Express. I'm working on LabVIEW 8.2.1.
I'm using the report generation toolkit, so I build a .llb from my project which contains all the hierarchy of my steps, but also the hierarchy of dynamic VIs called.
I have made some steps, like "Open Workbook", "Write Data", etc.
My steps run well, excepts one step : "Close Workbook".
If my "Close Workbook" step is firing on "Run" Signal Express event, I have no error, so my reference is properly closed.
But if my "Close Workbook" step is firing on "Stop" Signal Express event, I have an error "1", from "Generate Report Objectrepository.vi".
I feel that I'm trying to use a reference which has been killed in the "Stop" step...
I would like to know what exactly do Signal Express on "Stop" event and why my close function does'nt run well.
    Thanks,
    Callahan

    Hi Callahan,
SignalExpress (SE for short) does the following on the Stop event:
    1. Takes the list of parameters that SE found on your VI's connector pane, and sets the values that the user set from the "Run LabVIEW VI" configuration page, if any.
    2. Then tells the VI that SE is running the Stop event by setting the Enum found on your VI's front panel. This in turn should produce some boolean values telling your VI to execute the Stop case.
    3. The VI is then run, with those values and states.
    4. SE checks to see if any errors where returned.
    5. Since this is the Stop event, SE releases the reference to the VI which it possesses.
Questions for you would be, is the reference to your Workbook linked to a control on your connector pane, or held in a uninitialized Shift Register. If it's held in a Shift Register, SE would not be aware of it, and would not be able to affect that reference.
Hope that helps. Feel free to post your LLB if it doesn't.
    Phil
