Hi, can anyone point me to any article/how-to/blog that covers the Signal In and Signal Out in any kind of detail?
Can this functionality only be used between IViews on the same page?

Yes, you are right this kind of eventing can only be used by iViews placed on the same portal page.

After searching i call another RFC for udating the Data.
The Data is updated successfully in the R/3, but its not reflecting in the Iview.
Can I use the Portal Eventing Mechansim using Signal In and Signal Out.

You can update the status by passing the return message or the output of the BAPi / RFC in a table or a form in the iview.

Trying to use signal in and signal out but couldn't pass parameters

Hi all,
I am trying to use Signal out from 1st iview and trying to get the same parameters to the second iview where this iview gets populated when i click a button in result of first iview.
I have created these two iviews in same model and it deployed without errors.
When i run the first iview and give the parameters and say submit i get the result and when i click a button a new iview opens(requirement) but its not taking the same parameters as i have given in first iview.
Could any one give me suggestions how to use them or where should i correct it.

Hi,
please follow these steps you will be able to achieve the results:
1.> Go to the form of the first iview.Drag output port and create signal out with proper name.Click the link created in between the signal out and the form and give a proper name(event name). This name you have to mentioned in the button action property.Go to the form and click the button property.Then in action tab you can mentioned the action as custom action.
2.> Configure the signal out means select the fields which you want to transfer to the other iview.
3.> Then go to the other layer and drill down in that.
4.> create a form and drag input port of it and create a signal in and give the same name as you have mentioned in the signal out.
5.> configure the signal in. And give all the fields which you have mentioned in the signal out.(it is case sensitive, so better give the correct names)
6.> Double click the form and select all the fields which you want to be visible on the form.
7.> just save nad deploy the model and you can transfer data between the two iviews.

Difference between signal strength and signal qual...

Does anyone know the difference between the two scores and what they measure - and why the levels change intermittantly. It's really affecting the quality of my tv picture.

The signal quality is actually a measure of the errors detected by the Vision box. Technically, the CBER in the advanced view is the "Corrected Bit Error Rate" measured as the number of bit errors per billion bits received (i.e. units are 1 x 10^-9). If you had 100 bad bits in a billion bits it would display 100, but would correspond to 0.00001% error rate.
Note this is AFTER the Vision box has done its error correction. The raw Bit Error Rate is typically much higher but the broadcast signal includes information to enable the receiver to correct for most errors.
If the signal level is very high it can overload the box and result in poor quality and poor picture despite having a high signal level.
As Umpire said a signal quality of 100% will result in a perfect picture.
Do make sure that your HDMI cables are away from your aerial cables as they can cause interference. If you use the TV's Freeview tuner does that give a better picture or does it also suffer in the same way?
Also try entering your postcode into the UK Free site at http://www.ukfree.tv/transmitters.php - this gives you information about your local transmitter, including distance, scheduled engineering work and aerial recommendations.

Difference between signal strenght and quality?

As per Cisco documentation
Low RF signal strength does not mean poor communication.
Low signal quality does mean poor communications.
If someone can explain me difference between signal strength and signal quality?
As per my home AP i can see that signal strengh is measured in numbers like 50 % or 100%.
But what is signal quality and how me measure it ?

Great question ....
First, lets look at the concept of signal quality and strength ... Suppose for a minute you are front row at a rock concert right next to the speakers. The sounds is so loud you cant hear anything but screaming. This is an exmaple of a loud signal but poor quality.
As for measuring the signal and noise or should we say quality of signal. Vendors sometimes give you a % or dB scale when grading the signal.You really cant make headers or tails from the % scale becuase each vendor has different % measurements. But check your ap, becuase you may have the option to change it to dB.
Lets look at dBm. Right now my client is showing:
Signal -59 dBm
Noise -98 dBm
The dB scale is simple. The lower the dB the LOUDER the signal. You will see -59 of signal is good, in fact I am about 50 feet from the AP. If you are right under the ap you will get like a -30ish. Noise, we dont want to be loud, so we want to see noise at -100. The lower the noise dB the louder the noise is.
So back to out example above. Next to the speaker, you are showing say -30dBm but your noise may be like -70dBm...
Does this make sense?
You normally like to see your signal no higher than -67 for voice or -76 for data. And your noise should be higher than -90.

UML Activity Diagram does not have Signal (Send and Receive) Shapes

I'm using Visio 2013 Professional and I created a new UML Activity Diagram.
On the left, on the UML Activity Stencil, I have only 9 shapes. I cannot find the Signal Send and Signal Receive shapes. I have searched on the other UML diagram types but can't find them.

No DVI signal, only analog and TV-out

Hi, I bought a new computer a couple of months ago and have been having some problems with my graphic card (MSI FX5900XT-VTD128). Most of these problems disapeard when I re-installed WindowsXP.
However, about one week before I re-installed WindowsXP my screen just went black when I tried re-installing my video drivers. First I thought that somehow in the pocess of installing the new drivers my video card got overheated or something and broke (highly unlikely, but I have seen strange things in my days).
Furthur investigation revealed that it was "only" the DVI signal that stopped transmitting. I have since then tried to enable the DVI signal with no luck. I haven't found any options in both the NVIDIA drivers nor the MSI drivers in which to choose analog or digital output.
My monitor shows that there is a DVI conneciton, but the screen is still black. In most of my tests I would have DVI and TV-out plugged in so that I can make changes in the settings through my TV.
I'm running out of things to try and I am very open to suggestion, if anyone would be so kind.

I already tried the driver solution, and it didn't work... However, I can try even older driver and see if they will enable the cards DVI signal. The problem with the driver solution is that there is no setting for choosing CRT or LCD monitor. In both dual view and clone mode I can only choose between a monitor and TV output... One thing I found strange though, normally at boot time (before the OS loads) I would get both analog and digital signals, but now there is only the analog signal.
The monitor solution I will try in a couple of days, when I will carry my computer over to a friends place and try it on his monitor. The only problem is that my computer is so damn heavy! :-)
I will keep trying and let you guys know how it worked out.
In the meantime, if anyone else has a suggestion, I'm all ears.

This shows a 5.9 sec delay for the first sigaction, and a full response is received some long 20 secs later on the prompt.
Some feedback from engineering regarding this issue since the 9i release has been:
"This is a known problem with signal handlers and the lazy binding we have on Mac OS X. A small change to how Oracle library's signal
handler is installed using _signal_nobind(3) and
_dyld_lookup_and_bind_fully(3) could help to solve this problem.
The problem that we are trying to avoid is a possible dead lock from
code that could be called in a signal handler when the thread that
gets the signal is in the middle of lazy binding a symbol. So when a
signal handlers installed the default action is to cause it to be
bound fully. This is made very expensive by the mismatch of the
interfaces to signal(3) and segvec(2) like routines which are passed
an address and the dynamic linker that wants a global symbol name. So the end result is to call the routine _dyld_bind_fully_image_containing_address(3) with the address of the signal handler to be bound. Which binds everything in the image (in this case the Oracle shared library).

It seems this issue hasn't been resolved in the most recent 10g client release.Can anyone shed some light one this issue?

It's a delay, not a deadlock, that originatesfrom the way Oracle
libraries handle dymaic bindings.to "dynamic" bindings. Maybe prebinding could help ?

Help requried in a software project regarding signal strength and tower ID

I am the Student of FAST (Foundation for Advencement of Science and Technology ) Karachi,Pakistan.
I am doing BS in computer science form here. { final year ( 7th semister ) }
currently I am doing a software Project regarding mobiles.
the main theme of my project is[b] to locate a mobile in an area without using the GPS technology .I have thougt to do it with the help of signal strengths and tower ID's of neighboring towers. With the help of these two things I will make some mathemetical calculations {for example triangulation or something else } to know where is the mobile at this point in time.
Initially i would implement it on client side .
are there any APIs that can tell at least 3 stongest cell IDs and their respective signal strengths from which mobile is getting signals; be useful to me in this regard !
for this i need your help ,to guide me how to move forword with this project

Wireless signal acquisition and saving signal in text format simultaneously for 5 mins

I am acquiring ECG signal wirelessly and displaying it in in waveform chart. And simultaneously i need to save it in Text format for 5 mins. The problem i am facing is that for saving the signal i am using Write to Measurement File which saves the file in text format..... but while saving the plotting speed decreases.
i am very new to labview.. so plz can any one tell me whether i am missing any thing in it... plz help.....

Why do people always post pictures of their VIs rather than the VIs themselves or at least Snippets? We can't tell from the picture what Version of LabVIEW you are using (so if we post code, you might not be able to open it), and we can't "play with" your code and try it out without, ourselves, by hand, trying to recreate it from your (sometimes very tiny) diagram. Please Help Us to Help You!
Here's help anyway to get you started with the Producer/Consumer Design Pattern.
Open LabVIEW.
Click "File", choose "New ..." (not New VI), and choose (from the templates) Producer/Consumer Design Pattern (Data).
Study the Template and adapt it to your problem.
The Producer would be anything that Generates data. Once you have the data, you put it on the Queue and send it to the Consumer for all the rest of the processing. The idea is that the Producer has an inherent timing that it has to meet, otherwise you lose data points. The Consumer, on the other hand, just needs to "more or less" keep up (actually, the Queue can/will expand, so if the amount of data isn't megabytes, the Consumer can really be quite slow, though you usually want the Consumer, on average, to be at least as fast as the Producer).

JNI, Solaris and Signal 11

There are a number of bugs in the database that have the following attributes:
-JNI
-Solaris
-Signal 11 exceptions.
-Long running applications.
I am experiencing something similar. I was using C threads for some call back functionality (and of course registering it them with JNI.) I was hoping that starting the threads with java would help but it didn't.
I have several questions:
-Has anyone found anything that allows them to work around this? Doesn't matter what you think it was - like a different switch on an application server. I am just curious if anyone thinks they solved it in any way.
-Does anyone have an idea what might cause it? Even an just an idle thought?
-Does anyone have a long running application, that uses JNI on Solaris and they don't experience this (obviously the JVM itself does this, but I am still curious?)
-And slightly different that the above, does anyone have a long running JNI Solaris application using C threads that doesn't have this problem?

You may have seen some of my posts before... I have seen many of yours. But I hadn't seen this one until now, by chance.
I am running on Solaris 8 with Java 1.3.1_03 and have a multithreaded C/C++ program that invokes the JVM and makes calls into Java via JNI. Actually, I have a few programs like this, but a particular one is set up to run as a daemon and eventually (after a couple of hours) runs into a segmentation fault (signal 11). The stack in the core file when the program fails shows that a thread started in the native code attempted "AttachCurrentThread()" and then a segfault happens way down in the JVM somewhere. However, I had an issue like this previously and I tracked it down (unexpectedly) to a memory leak in a totally unrelated portion of the native code. So I am trying to find other memory leaks in the code using tools like Rational Purify but it is tricky to get Purify and the JVM to play nicely together.
Additional info: I have all latest patches applied, not using signal handlers, and am using the "alternate" thread library in /usr/lib/lwp.
- I have another similar program on Solaris that does not seem to have this problem.
- The same program that's crashing on Solaris seems to run OK on both Windows and HP-UX.
Given the above, I am pursuing the avenue of a memory corruption in the native code as that has turned out to be the cause of numerous other problems in the past, but I am having a very hard time with this one. jschell (or anyone else), please let me know about your status and what you think.

Unbelievable.
After taking all the time to write and post that, I then switched "airplane mode" on and off again and it started picking up the 3G signal fine.
I had read a couple of threads about Ipads / Iphones "locking" onto GPRS and this being the only way to switch them back, but I DEFINITELY tried this before the IOS 7 upgrade and it didn't help.
So was it just a coincidence this time or did the upgrade make a difference? No way of telling I suppose so no help if you're reading this looking for a solution. I can only keep an eye on it and see if this becomes a regular problem......

Okay, got my phone back from the store I originally bought it at (the Swedish equivalent to Best Buy), and they had tried charging it with an iPhone-charger with no results. However, when they tested with an off-brand charger, it started working again. I wonder why that is.
When I got home, it was on 98% and I plugged it in with my regular charger just to see if I would really need to go out of my way to buy a completely different charger. It charged up to 99%, and I then unplugged it. I will wait and see if the problem re-occurs, but as it looks now, I probably won't be needing to get the battery changed nor book an appointment with the Genius Bar I'll check in here again if that were to happen, to give my review of the Genius Bar!
