  • Best signal repeater with airport

    what signal repeater works best with the airport exreme?

    Another AirPort Extreme would be "best", but if all that you really need to do is extend the WiFi signal wirelessly, an AirPort Express would do this nicely.
    If you do not have a means to back up your Mac, a Time Capsule can both extend the WiFi signal and handle the backups from your Mac(s). Click on the link below for more information on the three options that you have:

  • Anyone tried a Mobile Phone Signal Repeater

    I am on t-mobile (in the UK) and have poor indoor reception (its not great outdoors either) I have tried the various fixes suggested by others to no avail. I read that a signal booster at 2100MHz with an outdoor aerial and in house amplifier/transmitter may help. I know very little techy stuff only that my phone has difficulty making calls. Does anyone have experience of this type of product?

    The Wilson products are going to be your best choice for home 4G repeaters.  They tend to be a little more expensive than the competitors but there really aren't very many to pick from.  You could browse around  3Gstore.com to see if they have anything else to offer that fits your needs and budget.

  • Can anyone recommend a quality 4G signal repeater?

    I have poor service in my house and acceptable service outside. There is no high speed internet access available at my home so I can not use the network extender offered by Verizon.
    I am reasonably tech savvy and could select my own, but I was hoping someone in the Verizon community could share their experience with signal repeaters to help me along.
    I have been looking into a few options offered by Wilson Electronics.
    It looks like their top of the line might be more than I need. I only plan to boost the Verizon signal in my area and I believe it also boosts frequencies that I won't need.
    Thanks!

  • Indoor repeater for cisco 1300

    Hello,
    We have an outdoor wireless network working with two cisco 1300. One acts as a access point and the other one as a bridge.
    We would like to extend the coverage of the bridge... Is that possible? There's one spot inside where signal quality is 80% good and where we could put an indoor signal repeater.
    What cisco product could we purchase to do that ? (if possible...)
    Thanks,

  • Poor wifi signal

    My New Macbook air has very poor wifi signal, I have to sit within feet of my router to have a usable connection, I cannot even use it in the next room.
    Does anybody else have this problem, and would purchasing a antenna booster or signal repeater do the job?

    Here are some troubleshooting suggestions:

  • Improve wifi signal?

    I live in a shared apartment. The router is placed in the hall and my room is across it on the inside. If I step out of the room, I get full signal, but inside the room I get two bars. I don't have a laptop or PC. I want to know how can I improve my signal strength? Will a signal repeater come in handy? Is there any signal booster? Or do I need to add a router to the connection.. Thanks.

    How is the router located in the hall - on a shelf? Position it as high as you can. Sometimes the router signal is somewhat directional. Experiment by turning the router to different positions.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
    Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
    You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • How to generate GPS signal continuous

    Hi,
    I encountered a problem recently and I need your help. A customer used a PXI-5671 to generate GPS signals to test a receiver. The problem was like this:
    1) When we used actual GPS signals instead of simulated signals generated from the PXI-5671, the receiver functioned normally.
    2) When we streamed bin file to generate signals repeatedly using the PXI-5671, the receiver could receive correctly for the first time, while at the rest of it the receiver couldn't receive the signals nor display how many satellites there were and what the signal strengths were.
    I supposed, that this was due to the reason that the timestamp for the second time was earlier than that at previous time. How do we generate GPS signals continuously with the timestamps updated?

    Hi,
    When you stram from a bin file repeatedly, it will run first time but will lose lock because when it comes tothe beginning of the file, its time suddenly jumps and the receiver does not accept this. For example, lets say your bin file is from GPS time t1=0 to GPS time t2=30000s. When you loop back around the file, the time increases from 0 to 30000 and then jumps back to 0 and that is not acceptable by receiver. You will need a direct streaming from 5671.
    I can put that up for you soon if you want.

  • Airport signal drops

    When playing music via iMac or iPad using my airport express through the hifi the signal repeatedly drops either for a second or two or more recently for hours. Any ideas?

    Do you currently have the 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) configured to "join" the wireless network provided by the BT HomeHub router? That is, within the AirPort Utility, does Wireless Mode = Join a wireless network?
    Is the AXn in the same room, different room/floor from the HomeHub? Approximately how many feet apart are they? When the drop-outs occur, where is the iTunes host (iMac or iPad) located ... near the HomeHub, the AXn, or somewhere else?

  • Time Coded Analog SIgnal

    Hello,
    I am relatively new to LabVIEW.  I am  working with a device which sends out an analog signal (4-20mA) that is time coded with 6 pulses.  I need to program LabVIEW to read the values of the 6 pulses, or really 5 because the first pulse is an identifier, see the attached pdf file.
    The signal starts with a 20mA signal for 2 sec; this is the identifier signal.  There is a pause for 2 sec and then the first of five signals, which are transmitted for 2 sec each with a 2 sec pause.  At the end of the sixth signal there is a 30 sec pause (4mA).  The identifier pulse will always be 20mA but the five other signals can vary in amplitude.  I need assistance in reading these five signals; from here I can scale the mA value to what I want.
    I am working with LabVIEW 8.2 and I am using an ENET 9219 module.  I can acquire the signal graph it, display the value etc and I can also trigger off the first pulse, but the rest is proving to be difficult.
    Thanks for your help!
    Brian

    To get an idea of what the signal values are take a look at the spreadsheet and the short code to generate the sample data.  At the end of the last pause (30Sec) the signal repeats again, starting with the 20mA identifier pulse.  This devise is a fluid monitoring sensor for hydraulic oil.  The idea is to have this continuously read data and display all 5 signal values.  Display does not need to be instant, as with temperature and or pressure readings.
      I tried to use the Get Waveform Subset, but experienced an error.  I was trying, as a simple test, to see if I could manually trigger the start of the recording when the 20mA pulse came up.  When I trigger how do I get the subset to start from 0 on the time line?  If I could start from 0 every time I could read from the approporate time (t) to read the value at y.
     Thanks.Brian

  • Boosting Signal Strength

    Hi,
    I've read many previous threads, but I didn't find what I was looking for. So I apologize if this is repetitive.
    We have FIOS wireless in the front of our house. Throughout the house we get great reception on our laptops.
    Our son's room is outside, attached to the garage, about 80' away from our router. So, the signal must travel about 80' and thru a multitude of walls.
    Is there a signal repeater or booster I can purchase so my son can have a stronger internet signal in his room?

    Do you have FiOS TV? And if so, does he have the TV service out there? If so, and assuming you are using the Verizon-supplied ActionTec router, you can probably go to eBay and buy a Motorola NIM-100 box that will allow him to connect wired to your router via the NIM.
    I have a different but somewhat similar situation, my router is at one end of the house and my wife's PC is at the other end,  with many walls plus the distance, the wireless signal was good at times, not so good at others. But she does have a TV in that room. So, since I had a left-over NIM, I just put a splitter (5-1000 MHz) on the coax, ran one output to the TV and the other output to the NIM. Then plugged an ethernet cable into the NIM and her PC, no more complaints from her about losing connection or speed.
    Other than that, there are plenty of wireless access points that you can buy; for example, NewEgg has a LINKSYS WAP54G on sale for members for $55 with free shipping (and no sales tax in some areas). Another option that might work is to replace the antenna on the router with a better one, I know some people have done that with good results.
    Good luck.

  • Loss of 3g, Wifi, signal off & on, phone keeps freezing, ringer works off & on

    Over the past 3 weeks I have been experiencing a lot of problems with my phone. My 3G (when its on) goes in and out, the little circle comes up, I lose signal repeatedly, drop calls, error sending and receiving text, Wifi goes in and out even though we have full signal and my husband is sitting next to me on his wifi and our computer is connected fine. It is constantly freezing up, taking almost 2 minutes at the most to unfreeze. The ringer will ring for one call but not for the next and its the same with text messages. I have done both a hard and soft reset and the problem keeps on....what is going on with my phone? I purchased in Oct 2012 so I haven't even had it a year.

        Thanks for all your hard work and determination in trying to resolve this behavior, Thigpenbs. I know this must be a difficult thing to deal with. • Colours are not changing when a certain value is used

    Hi all. This might look strange. But anywayz...
    I am developing a game related to controlling trains and preventing them from clashing into one another. Naturally, my game allows the user to control the colour of the signals present at each station. My game has 3 layers: the first one does the game calculations, the second does the rendering aspects of the game, and the third constantly passes latest game data to the rendering layer.
    Now, the data for the signals comes from the first layer as an array of Integers. The array is named 'aspect'. Below is the code:
          switch(aspect.intValue())
    case 1:
    objGraphics.setColor(java.awt.Color.RED);
    break;
    case 2:
    objGraphics.setColor(java.awt.Color.ORANGE);
    break;
    case 3:
    objGraphics.setColor(java.awt.Color.GREEN);
    System.out.println("green");
    The default colour of all the signals is red. Now while the game is in progress, if the user changes the colour of the signal to, for example, green, the change is not reflected on-screen. However, the SOP call works fine - the word 'green' is printed in the console.
    What further surprises me is that if I change the statement 'case 1' to 'case 4', and then while the game is in progress, change the colour to green, then the change is reflected on the console.
    I placed SOPs to find out if the values inside 'aspect' are correct. Ya they are correct - they contain values '1' at the start of the game, and when the user changes to green, then they contain '3'.
    So what could be the problem?

    Jeez... sorry.. my mistake.
    What I was doing was this: for drawing the signals, I take all the signals from the Calculations layer and store them in a Vector. Now this becomes a Vector of Integer arrays.
    In the Rendering layer, I have a loop which draws the stations. I also have a method which draws the aspects for each station. Inside the loop, for each station, I call this method. But I don't know what I was thinking while writing the method - I wrote it such dat it draws all the signals for all stations. Thus, for each call, it would redraw all the signals, not the ones for the current station.
    I have changed dat now, and it works. When the user selects a station and then selects the signal he wants, the change is rendered onscreen. Yippee!!
    sabre150, u were right after all!!! Also, thanks to all those who stopped by to rack ur brains over an issue that shouldn't have been one in the first place.
    But what I don't understand is this: Even with my wrong code, shouldn't the change be rendered? Ya, I know it was rendering the signals repeatedly, but then it should have rendered them rightly, isn't it? Or am I not getting something?

  • Which Apple product to use to get better range at home?

    I have several Macs at home; all but one is wired since my whole house is wired. however, I recently bought a Macbook Pro and have successfully used it in the house both wired and wireless.
    However, my office is situated at such an angle to the dsl modem that I have (from Qwest) which basically gives me no wireless signal in my house. This is true for other devices that I've tried to use there. There are multiple drywall walls "in the way" and given the angle and foundation in my house, there is likely some cement foundation also in the way.
    Is there a device (Apple or otherwise) that I can use as a wireless signal repeater that would get me a better connection in my office? If so, what is it, and if not, then I'll just run another RJ45 wire to my laptop. Just had hoped to avoid that.
    Thanks
    Dennis

    It is possible to use a second wireless access point to extend the first. But based on things I see on the web it looks like both access points have to be from the same vendor, and both must support this ability. It seems to be a fairly rare features. Apple's Extreme base station and Express appear to work this way, but it is unlikely that you could use an Apple product to extend your existing non-Apple base station.
    Some base stations have better range in difficult situations than others. I've had good luck with products using the Airgo True MIMO technology (currently I'm using Netgear Rangemax 240). But there's no way to know without trying whether that will be enough improvement. It took me from mostly working but slightly flaky to a solid connection. I'm less optimistic that it would take you from nothing at all to a good connection.
    There are also base stations that allow an external antenna. If you're concerned about a single remote location, a directional antenna could help.
    Clearly running a wire to a nearby location is the safest. (Either to connect directly or to put a base station near where you use your laptop.)
