Signal Volume during Recording

When I record the volume of each input signal being recorded is fixed. Adjusting the fader has no effect. Automation is turned off. Is there a way to adjust this in the mixer? I'd like to be able to optimize the input gain on the interface (Presonus Firestation) without having to turn it down or up in order to hear it correctly in the mix.

Sorry, but no. You're suggesting turning the faders down in Logic and I'm saying that's what is not working. I move the fader down for the channel being recorded and it has no effect on the volume I hear through the 1/2 output during recording. Once its recorded, the fader works fine for playback.
Sorry, I got confused with your post.
Then maybe check the "Software monitoring" to ensure it is on.
This will force the fader moves to change the levels on your mix during recording.
It will introduce some latency, so check your settings.

I am trying to record in Garageband. I have a mic plugged in to my Avid Mbox and the Mbox into my Mac. The levels on the microphone keep automatically going down, during recording. This even happens when I set the track volume. What could this be cause of this?
    Thank you

This causes problems for me. When I place a single .mbox file into a new folder and import that folder I get the following dialogue:
When I click 'continue' I get a new import folder, but the formatting is a garbled nightmare of seemingly random subdirectories upon subdirectories:
Each of the subdirectories under "ASV" should have just contained messages, not lots of embedded subdirectories. Am I doing something wrong?

  • Input monitoring problem during recording

    Greetings,
I recently purchased Logic Pro 9, and am having a problem with input monitoring. I am not able to in any way affect control over my monitor mix during recording. I have tried every combination of options, including software monitoring, auto-input monitoring, etc...but always get the same headphone levels from my inputs (I am actually trying to mute the input signals out completely so that I can play along to only the click.
I am wondering whether this is some sort of software glitch, because I was able to control the mix perfectly before the latest software update. I wonder if that is the problem, or if I am overlooking some minor detail. Please help!!
BTW, I have checked, and this is definitely a software, not a hardware issue...
    Thanks much,
    Kevin

I have a similar problem, although I'm on Logic Pro 8.
I can't seem to record my guitar track (mic'd cabinet) without having the result monitor back through my studio monitors unless I turn off software monitoring in Preferences/Audio. But then if I want to record keyboards direct and listen to what I'm playing, I have to go back in and turn the option back on.
In Sonar on the PC, this was much more intuitive. You could arm a track for recording by clicking the "R" button, and separately toggle monitoring on and off by clicking the little speaker button to the right. You didn't have to constantly fiddle with the program preferences.
I have a FireWire410 interface, and the monitoring only happens when Logic is loaded. I would have thought that the little "I" icon was to turn monitoring on and off, but it's some "pre/post-tape" toggle I can't find a use for.
Kevin, how did you control your monitor mix before?

  • How to control volume during call when hard buttons don't work?

I was wondering if there is another way to increase the volume during a call when the hard + volume button does not work. Only the - volume button works. Is there possibly an on screen volume button or another screen I can go to for in call volume control. While on a call using the speaker, the volume is so low I can barely hear the person I'm talking to but I can't increase the volume anywhere. Please help! It's so frustrating  when you're using  the speaker phone and you can't hear anything. What's the point??  I also decreased the volume on a regular call while testing the buttons and now that's so low I can't hear that way either. Help!

Double-click the Home button, swipe the icons at the bottom of the screen to the right twice and it should show a volume slider.  Adjust the volume then press the Home button.

  • Can I repair the Master Boot Record (MBR) or Volume Boot Record (aka Windows boot partition) for Windows XP using Windows Vista/7 commands?

I have an SSD drive whose file system is corrupt and unreadable and it's OS of choice is Windows XP SP3 32-bit. I don't have a Windows XP disc.
Is it possible to repair the Master Boot Record (MBR) or Volume Boot Record (VBR) using a Windows Vista or 7 Recovery Disc? What about a Windows PE disc?
I researched around the Internet and found a command in Windows PE called bootsect (http://pcsupport.about.com/od/bios-booting/ht/bootsect-nt60.htm) that can repair both older and new Windows Volume Boot Code (NTLDR or BOOTMGR). The link states that the
bootsect command does NOT fix the MBR. Even the technet site here lists a reference to bootsect and that it can repair the MBR of both old and new versions of Windows (which doesn't appear to be correct). Can I use bootsect to restore the VBR of XP?
If bootsect cannot help me, then what is its purpose? Possible ex: Someone has a dual-boot XP and 7 system, the user uninstalls XP, and then uses bootsect to write BOOTMGR to the VBC.
I would appreciate any insight. Again, I don't have an XP disc. But I do have a WinPE disc and Win 7 Recovery disc and I was hoping I could fix my XP MBR and/or Windows VBR with one of the two.
    Thank you.

  • Idvd crashed during recording dvd

I did a new project with 2 film made with imovie09 and extracted to quicktime one in full hd and one in 4:3.
Idvd goes well untill the moment of recording, when it is in the phase before burning the dvd.
He remains some minutes in analysing resource, and then crashed.
Do anyone help me why this happens, i did a lot of projet with idvd and never happened it...
    thank you.

    Update:
    - The Application File Juicer was able to extract the movie as JPEG-pictures.

  • Display not scrolling during recording

I'm using the latest version of Audition CC2014, and have just noticed that during recording, the waveform created under the playhead (in the waveform editor) as the playhead moves left to right doesn't scroll.  I have playback preferences set to auto scroll during playback and recording, with centered auto-scrolling in the waveform editor.
As the playhead reaches the right hand side of the display, the whole time line is compressed (like an auto zoom out) creating more space to the right of the playhead, which then jumps left to the beginning of that newly visible unrecorded space and starts moving right again.  The waveform never scrolls off the left hand side.
Everything works fine when I'm playing an audio track back, it's only the recording that's affected.  Nothing has changed on my PC apart from updating the Creative Cloud Apps I use.
Has anyone else noticed this behaviour?
    Steve

    Hi,
there's probably nothing wrong. During recording, Logic will give the graphics low priority, in order to "concentrate" on maximum audio performance. So, the graphics of a new audio track will be somewhat messy during recording.
    Kind regards,
    Jaap

Huge volume of records are routing to the remote user other than his position and organization records. Synchronization and DB initialization taking more time around 36 hours.
Actual accounts & contacts need to be route around 2000 & 3000 but we have observed lakhs of records routing into local DB.
We have verified all the Assignment Rules, Views.
We ran docking object visibility rules and we have observed that some other accounts are routing due to Organization rule passing. (these records are not supposed to route).

let me know what would be the reason that 1st million takes only 15 minuts and the time goes on increasing gradually with the increase of dataYes that's a little strange. I only can guess:
    1. You are in archivelog mode and the Archiver is not able to archive the redo logs fast enough
    2. You don't use Direct Load and DBWR ist not able to write the direty block to disk fast enough. You could create more DBWR processes in that case.
    3. Make a snapshot of v$system_event:
create table begin as select * from v$system_event;After the import run
create table end as select * from v$system_event;Now compare the values:
select * from begin order by TIME_WAITED_MICRO descwith the values given you by
select * from end order by TIME_WAITED_MICRO descSo you can look where your DB spent so much time waiting for something.
Alternativly, you could start a 10046 trace on the loading session and use tkprof.

  • I cannot turn up the volume during a phone call

My "+" button on the side of my phone is broken and I cannot turn up the volume during a phone call. Is there any other way to control the volume during phone calls?

After trying everything I gave up.
But just 5 minutes ago... I dropped by phone on the floor, not from high, just sitting on my chair at my pc desk...
And someone just called and i can hear them!!!
    So...
for me, i guess it was really a piece inside that wasn't making a good connection and well...
    I accidentally fixed it...
But I wouldn't reccomend you to drop it on purpose.
But maybe go to your nearest apple store, ask them to open it and see if everythin is in place inside?

  • Volume of records XI can handle  ?

Hi My comapny management is evaluating SAP XI for SAP integration with other legacy systems.
Can anyone provide me how many volume of records that XI can handle per hour (for all interaces) ?
Can anyone provide me how many volume of records that XI can handle per Interface?
All of our requirements take thousands of records from flat-file and feed to SAP or take IDOC's thru batch process thru XI to generate flat-file via FTP to later feed legacy.
I need document to show to management.
    Appreciate ur help.
    Thanks

    HI Ravi,
The performance is based on Multiple Parameters.
    - Sizing/Hardwares
    - Volume in peak hours
    - Type of Interfaces - Sync/Async etc
There is a Tuning guide from SAP. to tell about different parameters etc Have a look into this.

  • How can I save the modulation I apply to an instrument during recording such that it remains during playback?

How can I save the modulation I apply to an instrument during recording such that it remains during playback? For example, I apply modulation #8 during recording, but when I play the track back the modulation is not incorporated.

    Hi Vlad,
Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to programmatically read the voltage output to the drive, as the voltage is all determined internally by the controller circuitry on the board. Depending on the controller though, you may be able to physically route the output terminal to a spare analog input channel and read in the voltage that way. This example Analog Input with 73xx Motion Card shows you how to program LabVIEW to do this.

  • BLANK PAGE errors during recording

When I access a member site and click a link that generates a
popup everything works fine. When I do the same thing during
recording the POP happens but shows zero content and is labeled
BLANK PAGE with About:Blank Below it and the text Done at the
bottom of the window. Im assuming that Captivate is causing a
security issue and Im being Denied access to the pop up content. I
could be very wrong because I can still access all the content that
    is not POP related.

  • Launchd does not work on Volumes under /Volumes during startup any more

    Hi folks,
we have many launchd jobs launching scripts, binaries and resources from Volumes that are mounted in /Volumes. That worked fine so far.
Now with 10.5.8 the Volumes in /Volumes are mounted after launchd has started up LaunchDaemons. That means I cannot start anything that uses resources outside of the root volume during system boot; e. g. our Sybase database is located on a different volume, and now it cannot be started during system start any more.
Apple Care has confirmed this change of behaviour.
Is there any workaround for this restriction? We would have to repartition and move lots of stuff to get along with that.
Any hint or help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • Issue with vocals during recording - only hear them on left side of headphones.

    wanting to hear in stereo...

If you've recorded your vocals the way most people do, then they will be mono anyway! If you want to hear a single mono track in both channels (assuming that your headphones are working normally in the first place), then you either have to pan the mono track so that it feeds into both sides of the master channel, or you have to duplicate the vocal so that it occupies both sides of a stereo track. The former is the preferred way of doing it - have a mono vocal track in your stereo mix and pan it to where you want it in the stereo field.
As far as monitoring during recording is concerned, then there could potentially be a few other issues - it rather depends how you are feeding the channel out of your sound device. It's not quite so easy if it's a mono track to feed both sides of a pair of headphones when you haven't gone via the master mixer - IOW you are using a direct output from the track. That would only feed one channel by default. But if you are going via the mixer (which you normally would whilst laying tracks) then it should just be a matter of panning the vocal channel into the centre.

  • Strange Vocal Double During Recording Logic 8!

Hi everyone (My first post ,
I am getting a strange doubling effect if i record a vocal on a record enabled track in logic. This only happens during recording in playback it plays as normal although it is quite off putting. I am using a TC Electronic Konnekt 24D Interface and this only occurs when recording a vocal with a condensor mic it does not happen when i record my turntables or any other stereo source?
Any help would be much appreciated
    Thanks

This is due to the fact that you're monitoring through Logic and you're hearing the direct Input as well as the track output causing the doubler effect as the Latency is delaying the track's Output. So set the track you're recording to to "No Output", enable Input monitoring and you should be fine.
