Signature option in Adobe Reader.

Why is the signature option in Adobe Reader one "greyed out" for iPad users, you can no longer access your signatures and add them to a document ?

Hi F & F,
If you are really looking to create a cryptographically secure digital signature then you need to create a custom signature appearance. If on the other hand all you want to do is add a picture of your signature you need to create a custom stamp. In order to create a digital signature you need to have access to a digital ID (a public/private key pair), and before going through all of the steps of creating a custom signature appearance is this what you intend to do? If so then check out 4   Custom Signature Appearances — Digital Signatures Guide for IT for help in creating the signature appearance. If you just want to create a stamp then look at the tips at  Adobe Acrobat X Pro * Create a custom stamp.

  • I cann't find the"define" option in adobe reader when I read a PDF file in iPad 3.

I cann't find the "define" option in adobe reader when I read a PDF file in my iPad 3. I have already latest reader version and iOS 5.1.1 installed.

I believe that I figured it out.
holding finger over a word, will bring the copy/define menu
holding finger where there is NO text, empty space or image, will bring up the annotation menu.
but note that if you have a scanned document, where the words are actually an image, you will get the annotation menu, since there really is no text, just a bunch of pixels that look like text...
you can turn scanned text into "real" text by using OCR functionality of the desktop version of Acrobat Pro (not Reader), it would then create a layer of invisible text under the image of the text.

  • "Allow fast web view" Option in Adobe Reader

    Hi Experts,
Is there any chance "Allow fast web view" option in Adobe Reader can be controlled through Documaker settings? Documaker version is 11.1.
(Adobe Reader, go to Edit --> Preference ---> Internet ---> check/uncheck the option "Allow fast web view". )
In our case, Documaker generated PDFs are being downloaded by users using browser (IE 7/8/9). "Allow fast web view" option is causing issues in some IE versions. As of now we are manually un-checking the Adobe Reader option in every signle machine as and when issue occurs.

    Thank you for the reply..
I have tried the option in 11.1, 11.3 & 12.1 versions. As specified in printer reference, SortBatches option is not included in INI. Still no luck. PDF is by default taking the property from Adobe reader (version XI in my case). Any other INI changes will be required?

  • My view options in Adobe Reader 11.0.10

I would like to know the view options in Adobe Reader 11.0.10.
I don't want the Bookmarks Pane to appear on the left side of the window.
I don't want the Export PDF pane to appear in the right side of the window.
If anyone has a suggestion, feel free to respond!

On the right side of the window, the pane on the right side of the page says Fill & Sign Tools.  I want to hide this pane.  I don't see Fill & Sign Tools as an item in the View Menu or sub-menus.

  • How is your signature protected on adobe reader when sending documents?

How is your signature protected on adobe reader when sending documents?

It isn't signing in. I hope someone can explain this better than me but it goes something like this.
To sign you make a certificate. Either you buy the certificate from a trusted source, or you make a special public certificate, and send that to all your contacts. This sending is special - you can't just email it, because it could be a fake. People need to know it's real, perhaps by arrangement.
Anyway, people are now set to look at a PDF which says YOU signed it. They can check if the certificate you used matches the public certificate you sent. If it does, the file is unaltered. If it doesn't it is a fake. Plus, there is a third case - it might be your real signature then someone changed the PDF. But thanks to the certificate, when you validate you are told about that too.
Certificates, the law, signing and that area are complex, and you need to understand before you start. It's easy to make worthless signed documents.
By the way, I've no idea if any of this clever stuff works on iOS!!

  • Can't sign signature fields in Adobe Reader XI

Using Adobe Acrobat X (not the Pro edition!) Dutch (NL) Language Edition  I created a document with two signature fields. Afterwards I tried to save as "Reader Extended". (The only option I found under "Save As" that looked similar to this command in my Dutch language version was "Uitgebreide PDF Reader" (this means "Extended PDF Reader") and then "Formulieren inschakelen en opslaan in Adobe Acrobat".  This last option means literally "Enable forms and save in Adobe Acrobat".)
When I opened the document in Adobe Reader XI (Dutch version again), the two signature fields are clearly visable, but do nothing when I click on them.
I've Googled extensively and also read the other topics on this FAQ which deal with similar problems, but to no avail... Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

After doing more testing, the Page Open event works in Reader but is very slow updating the result page that has the code and uses the Page Open event.
In Acrobat happens instantly, but in Reader takes a loooong time, sometimes seems that doesn't even update, as it takes forever. Wonder if my Reader's settings are screwed up?
Basically you have two pages, page one with a 4-choice radio button and, page two with a text field to report the value of the selected button choice.
Page two has the following code as Page Opens:
         var buttonV = this.getField("Group1").value;
         getField("Text1").value = buttonV;

  • Signature issue in Adobe Reader XI (Unable to sign)

I have Adobe Reader XI installed both on my work laptop and my home PC.
I have the same PDF document on both my home computer and work laptop. (and yes, I have sent a new copy of the working document to my work computer to ensure it hasn't been modified or changed). It is the exact same document.
I open it at home and I have the ability to sign the PDF document and then use the save as option to save a copy of the signed document, and I have done so to submit it on weekly basis. (A time sheet).
I was able to do so at work maybe 2 or 3 times and then one time when opening Reader, a popup appeared for an update for Adobe Reader in my notification area and I installed the update from adobe.com. Ever since I installed that update, now when I open the same document at work, both the Place Initials and Place Signature options are both grayed out and I have not been able to figure out why. I have gone through all the preferences and settings and I can't find anything that would account for them being disabled.
I have not installed the update on my home system for fear of the same issue occurring. (I need to be able to submit that time sheet) and I would like to regain this ability on my work laptop. Can anyone provide any ideas on why I would suddenly lose the ability to sign a PDF document that shows under the document properties as available to be signed. (ie: Signing: Allowed).
I have tried uninstalled and re-installing Adobe Reader on the laptop. Same issue.
    Any help or suggestions appreciated.

This is definitely a set up issue and User might have unintentionally assigned the port belonging to someother printer to this printer on his machine.
This is a setup issue and completely unrelated to Adobe reader. You may infact verify from some other non-Adobe Applications.

  • No signature pain in Adobe Reader XI

Why is it that if you have a submit ( by email ) button on a form, the options for adding a writen or typed signature are greyed out and you can only add a digital signature when filling it with Adobe Reader 11, but you can put a writen signature on the form if you are using the Adobe Reader App for iOS or Android?

When you use Kaspersky software install the updates from Kaspersky.

  • No option in adobe reader 9.2 when opening a pdf file to "save as" a tiff file

Hi, I want to save a pdf file as a tiff file.  I have Adobe Reader 9.2 and windows xp.  In the Adobe website, it says I can export or convert a pdf file into different formats.  However, when opening an existing pdf file, there isn't an option to export or "save as" in the Tools menu or in the Preferences under Edit.  The reason I want to save a pdf file into a tiff file format is because when I use the program Microsoft Office Document Imaging to open a tiff file, it allows me the option to move selected pages & save it as a new file.  In a pdf file, I have to save all the pages as one file & I don't necessarily want all the pages.   My only other option is to print the selected pages I want from the adobe file document and then scan it into a tiff file but I would hate to use paper just for that purpose.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

You can use a tiff printer driver:

  • Form Fields Only option in Adobe Reader - any extensions

My clients only have adobe reader but they need to print pre-populated pdf forms on to preprinted legal forms. For this i need the Form fields only option in the Print dialog but thats only available in Acrobat pro and the clients cannot have pro version. So wondering if there are any extensions for the reader to get this feature enabled.

Thank you Alheit for your response but that is not an option for me because the designed pdf templates are read by a java program developed using an api called itext and that api is merging (removing) the non-printable background into a single page/layer. I also tried using the non-printable image layer but my program api is merging them into a single layer/page.
That is why i ended up asking for the question if Adobe is providing any extension for Adobereader to show the Form Fields Only option ?

  • Validate signature automatically on Adobe Reader X

    Hi!
Adobe Reader 9 auto validates the document signature without doint nothing (only opening the pdf).
With Adobe Reader X the signature appears with a green tick but it says "Signature not verified", and I need to click on it to verify it.
The certificate it's trusted and on the Preferences / Security we have set "Verify Signatures when opening document" (sorry if not it's the exact phrase, I have the spanish version).
Someone could tell me how to say to Adobe Reader X to work as the 9 version did ?
    Regards,

Well, I will try to explain a bit better.
Adobe Reader X and 9 shows a top bar with information about the document it's signed and the signature it's ok.
In the body of the document it's one object with information related to the signature as this image:
On Reader 9 it automatically changed to Signature Verified without touching nothing. On Reader X we need to press on this object to verify the signature another time and to change this object text to Signature Verified.
Someone knows how to work as Reader 9 did ?
    Thanks for reading.

  • Using a Signature Pad in Adobe Reader Ubuntu Linux??

We are wanting to move away from Window and us Ubuntu Linux on our field computers.  The only problem is we have a signature pad and we need that to work in Adobe Reader.  We are using a Topaz signature pad.  I have been in contact with the company and they have been very helpful.  They have a driver for the signature pad in linux but they do not have a plugin for Adobe Reader.  Does anyone know a signature pad that will work in Adobe Reader?  Does anyone know if there is a plugin for Adobe Reader that may be used to work with the current signature pad we have.  Topaz said they can help me get set up to the point of going into Reader but then we would have to go the rest of the way.  Does anyone have any advice?
    Thanks

I'm also experiencing the same issue where we go to open a document and it takes a long time to verify each of the signatures. Have you found a solution to this?

  • How to apply for self-developed plug-in signatures licensing about Adobe Reader

Our company is doing something in the field of electronic certification industry, which uses Adobe reader to sign PDF files based on various signature algorithms. While, there is a problem that Adobe reader does not support PDF signature based on the signature algorithm of SM2. To solve the problem, we have developed an API file. And now, we can use the Adobe Professional version sign files Successfully, only by put the API file under the folder named Adobe plug-in, but not work well in Adobe Reader. According to the documentation, such as http://www.adobe.com/cn/devnet/reader/ikla.html and http://www.adobe..com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/plugin_apps_developer_guide .pdf, in Adobe Acrobat Reader, a self-developed plug-in we have developed need to be signed or obtain the relevant certification by Adobe before use.
If we propose certification and licensing applications to Adobe to ask the possibility of obtaining permission for our plug-in, what are the specific processes and requirements we need to know? Any useful information, I would be grateful. (Including the information we need to provide, as well as the cost and the certification time, etc.)

I think you're more likely to get a reply over at the Acrobat SDK forum: Acrobat SDK

  • Help finding optimize option in Adobe Reader XI

I have Adobe Reader XI and I need to optimize the background before I print my documents. I can't find the optimize option anywhere. I looked up tutorials for my version and I do not have the same options that are shown.

For some reason my scanned documents print out with a light blue background. My coworkers have an older version of Adobe and showed me how to go into the optimize option and change the settings so it prints without the background being blue. My adobe doesn't have the same options.

  • Is there an OCR option in Adobe Reader XI?

In prior versions (9, I belive), there was a way to select OCR to view and thus copy the contents of a pdf file. I can't seem to find any OCR function in XI.  Am I missing it, or has that valuable tool been removed?

Adobe Reader never had any OCR functionality.  If you did have that functionality, then you must have used Acrobat, not Reader.
