Signatures in Mail 6 - OS X Mountain Lion.

Hi everyone.
As you may know, Mail 6 gives you the choice to place your signature above or below the "quoted text".
Ok.
Now (with the option above siabled, as in the picture) when I directly mail a link by pressing cmd-shift-i there's the place where I'll write the text of the e-mail, the link and the signature.
The problem is that when I reply to an e-mail conversation, my signature goes all the way down to the end of the entire conversation. With Lion (and older OS X versions) every one of my replies used to have its own signature.
By enabling the optoin above and pressing cmd-shift-i in Safari to directly send a link via e-mail, the overall look of the message get even worse: it makes no sense at all to have the link below my signature. See the picture below.
Any solution to have Mail behave as it used to (i.e.: every message with its own signature in the right place)?
Thanks in advance.
Andrea

I had exactly this problem.  In an old post from 2008 there was this advice:
"Go to Mail > Composing and uncheck "Use the same message format as the original message" checkbox (under the Responding title)"
My "Use the same message format as the original message" checkbox was unchecked, so I checked it to see what would happen and Hurrah!, it works!  I've been annoyed by this problem for ages.

  • Why was deleted the RSS reader in Mail on OS X Mountain Lion?

Why was deleted the RSS reader in Mail on OS X Mountain Lion?
How can I re-enable the RSS reader?

All RSS Readers that I tested from MacAppStore are much worst than Mail's in Lion.
Hate them all. I'm using blogtrottr.com to compile all RSS and send me via email. But it's flooding my mailbox. There're a bunch of them that require a Google Reader account, and I won't do that. It doesn't matter to Google which RSS I'm following.
I wish Apple put RSS reading back to Mail. Stupid idea taking it off.

Hi, i am having the same problem. this is what i have noticed.
    I have 2 x imac's and 2 x macbook air's
i upgraded the 2 macbook air's and 1 of the imac's to Mountain Lion, all these have problems acessing sites that require you to login .
the one remaining imac is still running lion and works perfect.
i am using a dlink router with DD-WRT firmware, i tested teathering from my iphone and i can log into websites fine using the newly upgraded mac's.
It's not a wireless issue as my imac is using an ethernet connection.
is there a compatibility issue with some routers.

  • Printing multiple emails in order, using Mail 6.1 on Mountain Lion

In Mail 6.1 on Mountain Lion, when multiple emails are selected, then printed, they no longer print in the order that they arrived in the mailbox (as they did on previous versions of Mail).
Does anyone know how to order these correctly?

I was (ok, still am) frustrated by the same issue.
IF you are running MtnLion (not sure about Lion, but won't work for SL) you can do the following to create TXT or RTF output in the right order
Create a new mail message (yes, just a blank message).
Go to you main Mail window, navigate to the folder(s) which  contain the message you want to group together.  Select the messages you want to group.
Now go back to your blank message by simply clicking on that window.
Go to menu and click on Edit-->Append Selected Messages
All of you selected messages now are included in the blank message you were composing.
As a refinement, you can select all, and then reduce the "Decrease" the Quote Level (see Format menu).
Then save your draft and close it.
OK, it get's a bit quirky here.  You can't do a "SaveAs" with anything in your Draft Folder.  So to SaveAs, you must drag the message to another mailbox folder.  Just make a TEMP folder and drag it there. Once there, you can SaveAS to (raw, txt or rtf), and the message will show up in the outfile in the correct order.

  • Emails from one account don't appear in the Inbox of Mail since upgrading to Mountain Lion

I have a couple of email accounts - one is Gmail and one is a domain for my business. Previously Mail would show the Inbox and then a subfolder for each account under Inbox. Any messages received in the accounts would appear in both their own subfolder and also the Inbox. All my rules worked properly and life was good. Now, try as I might I cannot get my domain email account messages to show in the global/unified Inbox.
Originally the domain email folder was totally separate to the Inbox. By changing the IMAP Prefix (removing 'Inbox') I was able to get the folder at least under Inbox.
I purchased a new iMac and used Migration Assistant to move everything, therefore the problem persists. I had additional problems that my address book, rules and On My Mac folders didn't appear - but I solved that by finding the Containers folder and it is like a duplicate of Mail. I moved things from there to the Library/Mail and those particular issues resolved. But for the inbox issue, I have removed data from the Users/Library/Mail and from Library/Containers and started afresh - even deleted the Mail App and reinstalled from my original disc, but as soon as I set up the account it happens again.
Recently I have also started receiving errors when sending to use the Connection Doctor. I don't know if all this is related to a bug in Mountain Lion, the way I have things set up, or my domain/ISP.
Any suggestions on what to try, what it may be or ways around it would be great. I do have a Smart Mailbox for a Total Inbox, but of course the Rules don't work automatically on it. I'm getting sick of running Rules manually. Help please!!

I called the support service and she told me to delete my email address and re-enter it. I have no problem since then on receiving and sending emails.

The mail doesn't work properly and the cursor freezes up and I get the color wheel whenever I start typing and have to wait for it to catch up.  All this started after downloading the wonderful upgrade Mountain Lion.  Is there a way to go back.  I was happier then.

  • Apple Mail crashes on Start – Mountain Lion 10.8.5

After upgrading to Mountain Lion - and installing 10.8.5 update, the Mail application no longer works - it crashes on open. This happened after a system-wide crash which happened while Mail was syncing my Gmail account for the first time after a clean install of Mountain Lion.
Is there a way to solve this other than reinstalling whole system? Can I reinstall just the Mail app?
    please advise asap.
    thanks

I'd try a few other things before a reinstall:
your .plist file may be corrupt. To fix:
    hold down option
in the Go menu in the Finder, scroll down to Library
in Library, go to Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences and find com.apple.mail.plist and drag it to the trash
    restart
you will have to enter your preferences again (if mail works).

    3. a safe boot
    4. you could restore Mail from the backup you made before the 10.8.5 update. You did make a backup, didn't you? You should always make a backup before and update. In case something like this happens.
    5. If all that doesn't work then I'd do the reinstall. There is an app called Pacifist CharlesSoft — software you always wished someone would write that can extract just the Mail installer from the entire ML installer but you'll have to download all of ML again first if you don't have a copy of the installer handy.

  • Lost mail after upgrading to Mountain Lion

Hi, new to this forum, but I upgraded to Mountain Lion from the previous version and seem to have lost the last six months mail (Mar 2012 to the date I upgraded in Nov 2012).  I have found all the old mail folders, notes, etc, and imported them based on directions from other threads, but this period still remains lost for incoming and outgoing mail.  I was not backing up to iCloud and it seems that the back ups I had been doing manually were not picking up recent mail. Does anyone have any other suggestions?  I have not found this mail anywhere on my hard drive and can't understand why only this period of time is missing.  Any help greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

    There is a response here:

  • How do I delete e-mail accounts in Mail 6.0 using Mountain Lion?

I have installed Mountain Lion on my MBP.
Since then I have developed a problem with Mail Version 6.0 (1485).  When I send mail from my regular account as picked at the bottom of the New Message box it is the one I use all the time.  I write the message  and send it and then Mail puts in other/different e-maill addresses I have. I have gone into preferences and disabled the accounts to no avail.  I have highlighted them and tried to get the DELETE button to highlight but it is grayed out.
Stopping the accounts from being the FROM account would be good but lacking that I am happy to just DELETE them but can't figure out how.  I printed out the Help File on deleting and it was incorrect on where and what to click.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

  • Mail 6.0 in Mountain Lion - Problem with Folders

Since loading mountain lion and using Mail 6.0 I can no longer click and drag emails into email folders on my iMac. The email drags but then 'shimmers' over the folder and won't drop into the folder.  Does anyone have a solution?

Yes, when I let go of the message it just snaps back to where it was.  I can perform this operation multiple times successively using the same email and folder, and the email always snaps back.  I do not know if the drag/drop bug you mention is at work here, but it seems to be connected.
The normal behaviour you describe is not happening. The 'shimmer' I describe is that a border appears around the folder and flashes on and off very rapidly for maybe half a second and then disappears; let go, and the email snaps back to where it was.
    Any suggestions?

  • Mail 6.2 in Mountain Lion-Irrelevant Search Results Show Up

    Hi Mail(.app)ers,
I use Mail.app (version 6.2) on Mountain Lion, with one email account—my Google Apps email—via IMAP, with all folders (aka "mailboxes) synchronized with the Google servers—i.e. nothing exclusively on my local machine—with the exception of my "Drafts" folder. There are something like 12,000 emails altogether.
Anyway… I use the search bar a lot, and I'm getting this peculiar thing where a word I type will display a list of all emails containing that word, as per usual, but the list also has some emails that don't have that word in it, or in the headers. When I search within an email that shows up on the list for the exact word that produced it as a result for containing that word, there are zero results. It's not a terrible deal, but an annoyance, and these discussions are full of things that aren't terrible but are annoyances. Anyway… just wondering… does this happen with anyone else?

Thanks. No dice though, same with rebuilding the mailbox. It's the IMAP boxes that are messed up—just the "Trash - Gmail," "Sent - Gmail," and "Inbox - Gmail," whereas  the 9 folders that I've made are fine.

  • Mail freezing, sluggish in Mountain Lion

Hi Guys, my MBP 2010 model has been doing the following whenever I switch to the Mail app in Mountain Lion :
    - there is usually no response at all. eg. I can't select mail messages, I can't type anything, I can't move the window
    - the in-message reply, forward, delete buttons are not visible, or don't do anything if I click on them
    - the only fix is to switch again to another application, then switch back until it starts to respond (sometimes takes a few tries)
    - scrolling through mail is extremely sluggish and moves very slowly, if at all.  I usually have to select the scroll bar and drag it instead.
Once it 'rights' itself, it's fine again, until the next time I switch back to Mail from another application.
This is extremely annoying as I use mail constantly for work, and it's messing up my workflow.
It has ONLY happened since upgrading to Mountain Lion.
I don't have any Mail plugins installed (I removed a Daylite DMI plugin just incase, but had no effect)
Anyone else experiencing this?  Tempted to do a downgrade, or switch to using Outlook as a last resort..

My iMac was having a very similar problem.  I removed all the residual PPC code from the machine (using MacKeeper) and for the moment it all seems to run fine.  It makes sense that there might be a problem with residual PPC code, as my Air, which has never had anything below 10.7 on it, had no problems at all.
