Signatures keep disappearing during sync

I have two computers running mail, which sync Mail accounts via MobileMe. Mostly it works fine, but it's developed an annoying bug whereby the signature nominate in the "Choose Signature" menu in Mail/Prefs/Signatures keeps blanking out. It's not that my signatures are being deleted, just that I can't seem to keep them inserting automatically, and I keep having to reset the tab, which is a pain. It may not be associated with the sync but I assume it is, since it keeps happening on both machines.
Obviously it's not a high-order problem, but it's annoying, and if anyone had any suggestions about how to fix it I'd love to hear them.

Okay - tried resetting the mobileme data but it doesn't seem to have worked. One possibility is I didn't do it properly: what I did was set one of the computers up the way I wanted it, then reset mobileme from it, then turn on the second computer and reset it with the new Mobileme info. For a little while the signatures were okay, but now they've started turning off all the time again.
At present I've got two signatures, with one listed as default, so I'm going to try removing a signature from each of them so there's only one to choose from and see if that helps.
Otherwise I'm happy for more suggestions.

  • Entourage Tasks and iCal "To dos" have disappeared during sync with .Mac

All of my “tasks” (both completed and incomplete) in Entourage and "to dos" iCal have disappeared, apparently during a sync with dot Mac. This problem has happened twice in the past two weeks (the first time I lost all of my Entourage “notes” too, but I haven’t put any back).
The tasks show no problems for a week and then all of a sudden disappear from both Entourage and iCal. My calendar and address book (which I also sync) seem not to be affected. Entourage doesn’t seem to offer a way to sync the calendar without syncing the tasks as well.
    Here are my questions:
    Why did my tasks disappear?
How do I prevent their disappearance again?
has anyone else experienced this problem?
My Entourage database is fine. I’m running Entourage 11.2.3 (which rencently added a feature "sync services" that allows syncing with .Mac and iCal).

I had the same problem and I got my To Dos to appear when I clicked on the To Dos by Priority column header and checked/unchecked the Hide Items outside Calendar View option. (Doesn't seem to make any difference whether it is checked or unchecked ... it displays all of the items ... at least until restart iCal ... then it is a bit unpredictable.)
I also have intermittent problems when I create or change a new Event. Sometimes the change does not appear until I move off the page that I am displaying and come back (e.g. move forward a week in week view and then back.)

  • Music randomly disappears during sync with iPhone

When I sync my iPhone with my MacBook Pro, music randomly disappears from my iTunes library. The first time, 100 items "could not be found," then the last time 10 items "could not be found." Songs are still listed in the library, but they will not play and they have an exclamation point next to them. I have everything backed up on an external drive, but it's a pain to have to keep dragging songs back over. This problem began after my most recent OS X update. The items are very random and incude songs purchased from iTunes, songs from CDs I own and "digital book" downloads included with albums I purchased through iTunes. I would very much appreciate any help. I'm afraid to sync music anymore!

Unfortunately, this does not fix my issue. The battery indicator still disappears sometimes (not always) when syncing and I always have the sidebar showing. BTW, this only happens with my 5S not with my wife's 5 or my iPad 3. It used to happen with the 5 that used to be mine until I got the 5S and gave the 5 to my wife. Because of this I think it has something to do with some app I have loaded (but since I have many apps it would be very hard to track down).

  • My iTunes keeps freezing during syncing and wont let me put any music on. What do I do?

I have a PC and the newest iPod touch. I was receiving error message -54 while syncing recently so i checked on this site and found out that some of my files could be locked. Sure enough I went through all of my files, found and deleted all the locked ones and wiped my itunes. I then kept getting a error message telling me that the sync session couldn't start. Then I wiped my ipod and uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes multiple times. But each time I try to sync my ipod, itunes freezes and I have to restart the entire program. I am at a complete loss as to what to do. I have tried everything I could, and have had no luck. The program keeps freezing on me and doens't allow me to sync my ipod or my ipad, so it would seem to be a problem with my itunes but I don't know what to do, nevermind how to fix it.

You will lose all of the content on the ipod, but you will have to restore.  If you cannot then follw this:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
Your "friend" is not much of a friend.

  • Can I retrieve photos that disappeared during sync?

My recent photos were lost during a sync. When I attempted to sync a message popped up telling me I needed to either 1) add my iphone as a new device or 2) revert to most recent sync from a couple months back. The reason given had something to do with OS I think.
It was late & I'd had a glass of wine so I should have stopped but I didn't.  I knew I didn't have a new device so I chose the old sync.  When the sync was complete I checked for recent app purchases, found they were there & assumed all was well.
This morning I noticed all my recent photos were missing. Some of these are special to me & I'd really like them back.
Are they retrievable, or are they hidden somewhere I haven't looked? I sync to a pc laptop handed down from my son; there's lots of his stuff left behind where things might hide.

They should be in your Photos app in the Camera Roll.

  • My signatures keep disappearing.

I have a lot of them - in three different e-mail accounts.  Mac/Gmail/GoDaddy  But they all disappear.  All Signatures retains the names of them - but the contents of each signature are all gone.  Signatures designated to each account are gone too.
The first time it happened was when I fired up a new MacBook Pro Retina a month ago.  After setting up my three accounts on it.  All IMAP accounts.  All using iCloud to work across 3 computers and an iPhone.
Second time happened today after installing Chrome on the new MacBook Pro Retina.  No idea if or why causally related.  Just the latest new thing I did - before discovering the loss of the signatures.
I used several of the missing signatures the night before.

Ok. I couldnt stand it anymore. I saved my mbox files and deleted all files and setttings in the ~/Library/Mail folder. I then recreated my accounts and imported my mbox files. Signatures seem to be saving now. I dont know what preference got corrupt, but all is well now.

  • Downloaded album disappeared during syncing

I recently downloaded several albums through itunes on my iPod Touch. I later plugged the iPod into my computer to sync the content. The sync completed as usual, but when I checked my computer for three of the albums, they hadn't synced. I intended to plug the iPod in and try to sync them again but they had also disappeared from my iPod.
When I go into itunes to try and download them again, a message appears telling me I have already purchased them, but how can I access these albums now?
I have previously bought and synced albums in this way with no trouble and some of the other albums I bought at the same time synced fine, it's just these few that have vanished.
If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.

If you are in the USA and have iTunes 10.3.1 on the computer, use the instructions in following link to redownload the music.  iCloud Beta is available in the USA now.

  • All downloaded applications disappeared during Sync

I sync my iPhone to iTunes every day. I have had the phone for a little over a month now with no problems. Today I plugged it in, synced as usual, but when the sync was done, ALL of my downloaded applications are gone, both from my phone and from the Application tab of iTunes.
The Application link under Library in iTunes still shows all of the applications, but when I plug my iPhone in, the Applications tab there is blank.
The apps do still exist in My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications
I have deauthorized my computer, and reauthorized it. I have shut down iTunes and restarted. I turned my phone off and back on. What else can I try to get my applications back?

OK, I did an 'Add Folder to Library' and selected the Mobile Applications folder. The applications now show up again in the Device list, I clicked Sync, and the got copied back to my iPhone. Whew.
But now I have TWO of everything in the Applications section of the Library. There is only one physical copy in the Mobile Applications folder. I shut down iTunes again and restarted. The duplicates are still there. I tried Consolidating the library. Nope. Preferences hide the Applications folder, then unhide it. Nope, still there.
I am now going through the applications one by one, double-clicking on them, and doing a right-click Delete of the ones where the associated file can't be found. iTunes definitely lost track of the applications when I moved My Documents.

  • MacMail signatures keep disappearing.

Help.  I can't find any thread with a solution.  I've renamed my accounts... Dragged the signatures back over to each account, everything I know of so far.  I deleted plist and had to rebuild.  That solved it for a little while, but it's back today.
    Ideas?

OS is 10.6.7, not what his shown.  I have to change that.

  • Signatures Keep Disappearing

I have multiple email addresses and use multiple Signatures in Mail and there are three I like to have attached to a specific email address but every time I open Mail and compose a new message they are not there and so have to go into Mail Preferences and attach them. They will always be there as long as Mail is open but once I quit and re-open Mail they are not attached again. Weird.
    Any ideas, folks?

Hi there, had the same problem after I set up my account as IMAP and was just going through the discussion list. Jeffrey Souza posted a comment on Nov. 13 that solved the problem: Make sure you have an outgoing server set. My pull-down menu showed none, and once I had a server selected, Mail maintained my signatures and all is well.

  • Ipod keeps disconnecting during sync

Just adding my issues to the pile. Same as many other, I consistently have my 80GB Classic ipod disconnect with the "wrong volume in disk" message. It will make it through about 2100 of the songs before it stalls out and disconnects.
Every time it happens, the ipod gets stuck in sync mode, even after ejecting the ipod in itunes, and I have to disconnect it. When the ipod comes back up, there are usually 0 to 7 songs on it, and when I connect it to itunes, it shows 15GB of "Other" data, which is what should have been the songs.
I have tried the fix apple posted for the -50 error, didn't work.
    I've tried syncing automatically
I've tried syncing manually (both in one large batch, and in many multiple smaller batches).
I've tried turning off album art prior to syncing.
I've tried syncing across USB 1.1 and 2.0, both with older ipod cables, the new cable that came with the classic, and a 3rd party cable.
I've tried IDing the specific songs that are loading when the ipod hangs and disconnects, thinking they might be corrupt, and then deleting them, and after restoring the ipod and syncing again, it will hang again, this time with a song that loaded just fine the previous time, so there appears to be no rhyme or reason to it as far as the song files are concerned.
I'm about to try uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, but I doubt it will help.
How did things get so bad from the 5.5 to the classic? This is crazy.

    Just an update:
I took the iPod to work where I have a much smaller library, about 5 GB (my iPod is an 80 GB model). I reset it and synced to the work computer and it worked. It seems that it can only handle a smaller database? I also ran some diagnostic tests ala
    http://www.methodshop.com/gadgets/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/index.shtml
It won't pass the FW / USB detect test. Perhaps the unit is faulty. In any case, my next step is to try to return it for exchange at Best Buy, though it is 5 days over the 30 day period. How convenient! Nothing about this exprience has been convenient. They should call this thing the iClod.

  • How do stop the progress bar disappearing during sync?

When I'm syncing my iPod Classic to my iTunes I will see a progress bar at the top of iTunes showing how far it has progressed and text letting me know which track of how many I'm on.  But this information will only appear for a second or two before being replaced by the text: "Synching iPod Do Not Disconnect".  The warning will remain visible for aproximately two minutes.  How do I change it so that the progress bar remains visible constantly and the warning does not appear?  Failing that how do I change it so that the information I wish to see remains on screen longer and the warning appears only briefly?

Press the escape (esc) key to exit full-screen mode.

  • PC suite keeps crashing during sync

I am using Windows XP Professional 2000 Service Pack 2. I recently upgraded to Nokia PC Suite 7.0.9.2 Software (my 6310i is connected via Bluetooth). However when I try to synchronise my Lotus Notes 7 Calendar/To-do the synchronisation window disappears, even after choosing only 1-day before and after time period. The contacts list works ok.
Anyone have any ideas? Is there an old version available of the tool as that worked just fine.

    Hi,
Please check the system requirements for PC Suite 7.0.9.2
    Supported operating systems:
Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit editions
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (Service Pack 2)
Windows XP (Professional or Home Edition) (Service Pack 2 or later)
I am afraid if Win XP 2000 is compatible, as you say contact list works fine. But as per nokia.com/pcsuite site, it does not have compatibility

  • ITunes keeps crashing during sync.

    Hey people,
Yesterday i wanted to renew my playlist on my iphone so i plugged in the usb cable and iTunes popped up as usual. I sent all new songs to my iphone then the sync message up on the itunes msg panel came up. I started waiting but after 5 mins itunes crashed, the details were APPCRASH, itunes.dll.
So i said ok whatever, re-plugged my iphone, this time it tried to set it up as a new iphone as it never seen it again! I said ok *** lets set it up, then redid the music transfers and after the transfer finished again it freakin crashed again!
Its been 2 days now i've tried everything, deauthorizing, powering off the phone and powering on, uninstall-reinstall itunes, installing a older version etc etc.
It crashes everytime itunes try to sync and doesnt even back up or let me restore a backup file.
