Signed applet still shows:"warning:applet window"

I have signed a cab file for use with IE.
But it always shows the message "warning:applet window" in the status bar.
Am I missing something?
Should not be signing enough to eliminate this message??

• Autodownload disabled, still shows warning...

I have to support several legacy applications built against previous versions of Java (1.4 and 1.6), these applications would prompt to install the version they were built against when they were first accessed from a new user profile... as none of our users are administrators this was causing some headaches which we have resolved with the following:
c:\windows\sun\java\deployment\deployment.properties
deployment.javaws.autodownload=never
deployment.javaws.autodownload.locked
deployment.insecure.jres=never
deployment.insecure.jres.locked
While this does prevent the user from only having the options to install the legacy Java version or not run the application, the users are still receiving a warning message which I'd like to know how to suppress:
Warning - Old Version of Java Requested
This application would like to use an old version of Java (1.6.0_18) that is not installed on your system. We recommend running this application with the latest version of Java on your computer.
The buttons that are presented are "Run with the latest version" and "Cancel", cancel of course stops the application from running and thus the user from working. Run with the latest version allows the application to run, but the user is presented with this same dialog again every time they go to use the application. It's rather ridiculous, and this is with an application for which we've installed certificate and what not so it's trusted otherwise. Can this be suppressed? Can I get Java to a point where it just runs and if something isn't working correctly my tier 1/tier 2 staff can troubleshoot an actual issue instead of having to visit workstations just because?

• Deleted crystal report still showing in Authorization window

Hi there,

Then I deleted it from Report and Layout Manager.
However, the report can still be seen from Authorizations window.
It canu2019t be seen from Main Menu though.
Is there any way I can remove the report from Authorization window?

• PopUps after reparenting displayobject to new Window still show in Main Window

Hello,
I am working on an attach/detach functionality in AIR where a user can export a displayobject from the main application into a separate air mx.core.Window.
However, even once the object has been reparented into the native window, all its pop ups and tooltips continue to display in the main window.
Let me display this with a simple example:
Sample Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:WindowedApplication xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import mx.core.Window;
[Bindable]
private var cdata:Array = ["Test1", "Test2", "Test3"];
private function popout():void
var popoutWin:Window = new Window();
popoutWin.addChild(cc);
popoutWin.open();
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:HBox>
<mx:Button label="PoP" click="popout()" />
<mx:Canvas id="cc">
<mx:ComboBox id="cb" dataProvider="{cdata}" />
</mx:Canvas>
</mx:HBox>
</mx:WindowedApplication>
If you popup "cc", you will always see the dropdowns in main window instead of the new window. If you popup "cb", it will behave only as long as you had not opened the combobox before. (probably because the systemManager property used by the PopupManager gets set to that of the native window only for the root component that gets moved)
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Which version of the Flex SDK are you using? I just tried this with AIR 2 and Flex 4.1 and the combobox menu displayed in the secondary window (though it did require two clicks.)

• Foxtab still shows a blank window

I downgraded flash to 10.3, also tried the add-exception in flash for user/name/appdata/roaming/mozilla/profiles.
Still I am unable to see my open tabs in foxtab.
Nothing seem to work.
One update and everything got messed up. Two computers now have this issue.
Please help.

FF was v18.0.1
Foxtab still not performing when opened.
I did also add permission for flash content from user profile folder to run full privileges. Still nothing.
I miss macromedia, this would have never happened.
Lately FF is proving more cumbersome than ever.
I had a previous backup of my profile, had that restored but still foxtab refuses to cooperate. Youtube and blog videos resumed to play though.
I am willing to dump foxtab, but i am just curious as to what have caused this.

• How can I remove the lable "Warning:Applet window" of pop frame in a applet

How can I remove the lable "Warning:Applet window" of pop frame in a applet? Not only in MS IE's JVM,but also in java plug-in 1.40, the warning always display , What can I do?
===
thank you!

You cannot remove the label. It is there intentionally as a security measure, to warn the user that the window is from a running applet, so that (s)he knows it might be dangerous to enter sensitive information there (any applet from anywhere on Internet could have opened the window, who knows if it is malicious or not!).
Perhaps you can open a window without the warning when you sign your applet (with a security certificate).

• Warning applet window

I have the following config that my applications runs on OAS
4.0.8 with forms 5.0 It is client-server enviornment and in the
client side the application is viewed using netscape navigator
4.7 and the user is getting the following message in the window
screen below Warning applet window.
Could you please give me the reason and solution for the same.

I assume this is the yellow APPLET warning message you are
getting. This usually means you are running with an unsigned
JAR file. It could be you added your own classes or Jar file
and this gives you the warning. Do you get this with the simple
vanilla install of Forms and a simple one button Form???
I also notice you are on quite an old set up (forms 5, OAS). If
possible, you should really consider upgrading since you are
missing out on a load of new features and patches.

• How to get rid of "Warning: Applet Window" in third party java applet code

Hello I am having a hard time figuring out how to disable this darn Warning applet window that pops up and says "unable to detect an audio device" when it loads onto a comp that has no sound card! It is an audio streaming applet which was discarded by the developer and he does not provide any support for it....
I know zero about java and I am figuring this is something simple that any typical programmer familiar with java could figure out in five minutes.....
the applet is called audio centric and is located here:
http://javaboutique.internet.com/AudioCentric/
I appreciate anyones time who could help me out!

Sorry, there is not source code deployed and I'll not encourage you to decompile it, instead contact developer. They will appreciate very much your claim.

• **URGENT : signed applet still doesn't get full permissions**

I've bought a Microsoft Authenticode certificate with which I signed a CAB file containing my class files...
On a client machine, the browser detects security stuff but even when one acknowledges, the applet still doesn't get the permission, for instance, to open a directory for reading... a SecurityException is thrown as if the applet was not signed.
Have I forgotten something or did another one wrong ?? Must I set the Security Manager to null ????
It's really urgent, so please reply asap !!!
Thanks,
Rgis Kuckaertz

Just signing the applet doesn't give it any permissions. You have to assert whatever permissions you want. For example:
import com.ms.security.*; // need dummy classes to compile for non-MS
// check if we are in the MS JVM
if (Class.forName("com.ms.security.PolicyEngine") != null)
// Assert all Permissions
PolicyEngine.assertPermission(PermissionID.SYSTEM);
catch (Throwable cnfe)
System.out.println("Microsoft JVM permissions not asserted.");
System.out.println(cnfe.getMessage());
}

• ActionPerformed method not working when applet is loaded in browser window.

Hey there guys. I need urgent help from anybody who has experience in deploying websites whose code is in java.
I am having two problems as mentioned below...
first, I have made a simple login screen using java swing and JApplet. there is a single button to login. the action performed for this button accesses a private method to check the username and password which are there in atext file. the applet is working perfectly in appletviewer but when i load the applet in a Internet Explorer window using HTML's Applet tag, the button is giving no response at all even when i enter the correct username and password.
I guess it is either not calling the private function that is checking the username and password from the tes=xt file or it can not access the file. Please help as soon as possible as this is related to my college project.
I am attaching the code herewith. Suggestions to improve the coding are also welcome.
the second problem is that while writing my second program for generating a form which registers a user the html is not at all loading the applet into the browser and also if im trying to access a file to write all the details into the console is showing numerous amount of error after i press the button which i can't not understand. the only thing i can understand is that it is related to file access permissions. If anybody could put some light on the working of worker threads and thread safe activities of SwingUtilities.invokeandWait method it would be really appreciable.

RockAsh wrote:
Hey Andrew, first of all sorry for that shout, it was un-intentional as i am new to posting topics on forums and didn't new that this kind of writing is meant as shouting. Cool.
Secondly thank you for taking interest in my concern.No worries.
Thirdly, as i mentioned before, I am reading i file for checking of username and password. the file is named as "userpass.txt" and is saved in the directory named "@data" which is kept in the same directory in which my class file resides.OK - server-side. That makes some sense, and makes things easier. The problem with your current code is that the applet will be looking for that directory on the end user's local file system. Of course the file does not exist there, so the applet will fail unless the the end user is using the same machine as the server is coming from.
To get access to a resource on the server - the place the applet lives - requires an URL. In applets, URLs are relatively easy to form. It might be something along the lines of
URL urlToPswrd = new URL(getCodeBase(), "@data/userpass.txt");
InputStream is = urlToPswrd.openStream();
DataInputStream din = new DataInputStream(is);
So the problem is that it is reading the file and showing the specific output dialog box when i run it through appletviewer.. Huhh. What version of the SDK are you using? More recent applet viewers should report security exceptions if the File exists.
..but the same is not happening when i launch the applet in my browser window using the code as written belowHave you discovered how to open the Java Console in the browser yet? It is important.
Also the answer to your second question
Also, the entire approach to storing/restoring the password is potentially wrong. For instance, where is it supposed to be stored, on the server, or on the client?is that, as of now it is just my college project so all the data files and the username and password wiles will be stored on my laptop only i.e. on the client only. no server involved.OK, but understand that an applet ultimately does not make much sense unless deployed through a server. And the entire server/client distinction becomes very important, since that code would be searching for a non-existent file on the computer of the end user.

I think it crashes because one of your parameters is wrong.
Without the applet and or a full trace I don't know.
To turn the full trace on (windows) you can start the java console, to be found here:
C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4...\bin\jpicpl32.exe
In the advanced tab you can fill in something for runtime parameters fill in this:

I think for linux this is somewhere in youruserdir/java (hidden directory)
add or change the following line:

• Applet dont show the Components

Hi,
I’ve embedded applet in a jsp page. Initially appearance of applet is coming well. After some time during the process of applet , when the browser window is minimized and restored or if we are switching to any other window and coming back to the applet embedded jsp page, the things whatever displayed in applet are vanished because of which behavior of applet could not be recognized.
I’ll explain the applet process flow briefly. My applet is for transferring files from local machine to server through FTP concept. To show the progress of file transfer I’ve used progress bar with percentage displayed on it. As the files are transferred, progress bar status varies and also the percentage displayed.
Because of the above mentioned problem, the end user could not see the progress bar or anything else displayed in the applet. Problem is with applet behavior only.
Can any body suggest me how to rectify this problem?
Following is the fraction of applet code I’ve used.
public class UploadFolderApplet extends javax.swing.JApplet {
private javax.swing.JProgressBar jPB_Progress;
private javax.swing.JPanel jPanel;
private javax.swing.JLabel msglabel;

If you are on a Mac, this requires Java SE 6 to compile (64 bit). It's my current understanding that Safari (32 bit) won't display 64 bit applets.
I'm on a Mac, therefore it's pointless for me to try and assist you any more.

• Gnome Panel applet that shows output of system command.

Hi all;
Because of the recent hostile takeover of #archlinux channel by tilling WM fanatics.. I will ask here..
Does any one know of a Gnome Panel applet that shows the output of system command of your choice?
For people who Conky is a bit too much and they only want a simple piece of data available (like what is the current IP on ppp0 interface) like me.. this is a necessity.
If its not in existence I would probably make one.. shouldn't take long, I also would like to hear if there is any interest.
Thanks

That's exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!
Changed code to:
$dism = "X:\Windows\System32\Cmd.exe /c start CMD /k dism /apply-image /imagefile:D:\W7x86.wim /index:1 /applydir:C:\"
And voila, new window opened with the live output of dism.
new... and have a glazed over look about my eyes to prove it...
