Significance of profile name in configuration profile

Hi all experts in SD,
I am involved in variant configuration. I had a little confusion, for which i had searched the forum but dint find any relevant topic.
While creating configuration profile with CU41 of a configurable material we need to enter 'profile name' . We can enter many profile names for a single configuration profile. I am confused over it that what exactly is the need for having many profile names for a single configuration profile.
What i can infer is that with many profile names being provided in the configuration profile the single configurable material material can be used with many names in different scenarios.
Please do correct me if i am wrong . If at all i m true then also please provide me some more information related to it.
Thanks in advance for the solution.
Regards,
Gaurav Kumar

  • Partner Profile and its configuration.

    Hi all,
I am creating an SD IDoc using EDI and send it between two servers.
I need to know what is a partner profile and why should we create it.
what are the steps to be followed in maintaining a partner profile and its configuration.
Any pointers will be highly apppreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Jose

    Hi Jose,
Below is a material you can go through .
    Creating an Outbound Partner Profile
Here you must enter the data manually. Alternatively, you can also transfer the default values from Customizing.
If you are not yet on the change screen of your desired partner, choose SAP Menu ® Tools ® IDoc Interface/ALE ® Administration ® Runtime Settings ® Partner Agreement (WE20).
    1. Position the mouse on your partner in the required partner type node. Choose in the Outbound Parameter table.
    Key Fields
    2. You have already determined partner number and partner type in general partner processing. The partner function from the master data defines the addressee, that is, it is used for further classification purposes. If you have selected outbound processing under Message Control (MC), the function must be identical to the corresponding Message Control field. Otherwise, it is optional.
Partner A (customer 1110) wants to order a material from partner B (vendor 1014). Partner B is of the partner type “LI” (vendor) and must choose the Message Control value “VD” (vendor) as the partner function because orders must always be processed using Message Control.
    3. Specify the business process with the “logical” message, within which the IDoc type is used. The logical message is described by three parameters: The message type is based on EDIFACT message types: For example, a purchase order is of type “ORDERS”. You can further divide the message type with the optional fields message code and message function.
    4. Configure the test indicator if you want to send the message as a test.
Message, partner and test indicator are the seven key fields of the outbound partner profiles (the client comes in addition to these). Also see the graphic at the end of this section.
    Other Fields
    5. In the Outbound options tab page, you can determine whether IDocs are forwarded immediately to the receiving system. You should ensure that your entries are compatible with the Message Control priorities, if you have chosen outbound processing under Message Control. A list of recommended combinations is provided in the section Outbound Processing Under MC: Procedure.
    6. You have already defined the Recipient port in Port definition.
    7. If a port of type TRFC is used, the Queue Processing field is visible. You can use the indicator to specify whether IDocs are to be sent with qRFC. This sending technique is only possible for recipient SAP systems as of SAP Web AS 6.20.
You should only set this flag if it is really necessary that the IDocs sent are received in the receiving system in the same sequence as they were sent by the sender system. Queuing can cause posting delays in the receiving system, because an IDoc in the queue cannot be posted. In this case, the following IDocs in the queue cannot be posted until the error is resolved.
    8. If you have set the Queue Processing indicator, the Rule Name field, which you must then also maintain, appears as well. The rule name defines the rules for queue names. You can specify these rules in the transaction qRFC IDoc Queue Name Rules (WE85).
    9. Specify the IDoc type as the Basic type with or without extension. If you want to use a view of your IDoc type (for example, to improve the performance), specify this here.
The figure below shows the m-to-n relationship between logical messages (business meaning) and IDoc types (technical format). Message 1, for example, is always assigned to one IDoc type, while message 3 is assigned to two IDoc types. IDoc type 2, in turn, is also assigned to 2 logical messages.
    10. The segment release specifies the release from which the segment definitions (not the IDoc type definition) originates. We recommend that you leave this field blank so that the most recent segment definition is used.
    11. You can propose an EDI standard, version and EDI message type for the receiving system in the tab page EDI Standard. Most subsystems, however, should be able to determine these EDI settings themselves (from the logical message).
    12. You can define permitted agents for cases in which exceptions occur. This entry overrides the entry in the general partner profiles. Depending on the message, therefore, the exception can be handled by different agents of the same partner.
    13. You can specify whether syntax errors are to be ignored or are to lead to a processing error (Cancel Processing flag under syntax check in the tab page outbound options). For more information about exception handling and permitted agents, refer to the following section: Exception Handling
    14. If your hardware supports it, create partner and message specific telephony data for outbound IDocs. For more information, see General Partner Profile.
Graphic: Outbound partner profile fields (general)
Key fields are shown in gray. The values for partner, message and test indicator (and client) therefore provide a unique ID for the IDoc type in outbound processing.

    Praveen

  • RADIUS/DECODE: parse unknown cisco vsa "profile-name" - IGNORE

    Dear Team,
I have faced an issue with dot1x mab authorization between cisco switch 3750 and ISE 1.1. I have cisco IP phone connected on port # gig1/0/1 to authenticated through MAB with cisco ISE
    int gig 1/0/1
    switchport mode access
    switchport access vlan 9
    switchport voice vlan 410
    authentication order mab dot1x
    authentication priority dot1x mab
    spanning-tree portfast
    authentication host-mode multi-domain
    authentication port-control auto
    dot1x pae authenticator
    mab
    dot1x timeout tx-period 3
    dot1x max-reauth-req 2
    authentication periodic
    authentication timer reauthenticate server
I can get authentication successfuly but can't download the authorization profile on the gig1/0/1 port since I can see that everything seems fine from the ISE side. the phone is authenticated and authorized fine. so, I debug the dot1x & radius flows from the switch side and get this result.

It is not the ACL it is ignoring, it's the profile-name, which it should, because it has nothing to use that for. However, you should look into VLAN 410, to check and see if you have any config relating to that vlan, the only actual error i see in your logs is the one regarding assigning vlan 410. Could you please post you entire switch config, see we can see what else you might have configured.

  • How to configure profile manager in Maverics when DNS is externally managed?

Are there any guides to configuring Profile Manager as a MDM?
    Here is my story.
Recently installed  Mac mini at a school where the DNS is externally managed by the Education departments IT group.  Upgraded to Maverics and installed Server app.  Configured profile manager to the point where we could generate a trust profile and enrolment profile.  Doesn't work because there is no DNS entry for Mac mini server.   Create entry but need to change host name and computer name and local machine name to match entry.  Suddenly profile manager not working at all.  Delete server app and it's configuration file in ~/Library/.  Reinstall.  Now Profile manager won't even activate.  Speak to Apple on phone, run various commands to reinitialise Open Directory and reset profile manager.  To no avail.  Apple say to reinstall Mavericks, Server and try again.
Funny thing is I got profile manager to work as an MDM in a test environment, but changing DNS after doing so much configuration seems to have made a real mess of things.  Vowing to make a time machine backup as soon as Mavericks re-installs.
Anyone know of any guides other than the one on krypted.com, which appears to be for the previous version of Profile Manager.
    Stom

In general, either your OS X Server box has a DNS translation for its address, or it doesn't.
If you don't have valid DNS, you will have problems with various services, as DNS is fundamental to distributed authentication and encryption, among other uses.
OS X Server doesn't recover well from installations that start off with DNS errors, and the wipe and reinstallation suggested by Apple is usually easier than resolving the various issues that tend to arise within the configurations of the various services.
If your server doesn't have a valid DNS translation, then either add the DNS translation into your organization's local DNS environment, or work to retrain or replace the folks that are unwilling or unable to administer and to properly maintain local DNS services, or (far less desirably) configure and start your own parallel DNS services.  There are other options, of course.
I'd escalate this discussion to management, and let them sort this out — at its core, this very likely isn't a technical issue.

  • Configuring the default configuration profile for Profile Manager

    Hello folks,
I would like to edit the default configuration profile served by Profile Manger. As far as I understand the only thing I can configure from the Server.app is the name of the profile. The settings for the different services provided by the server (such Mail, Messages, etc.) are automatically chosen by Server.app. When logging as an administrator on the Profile Manager webapp, I can go to "Groups", choose "Everyone", go to "Settings" to review the different payloads. However, almost none of the settings are editable. You can read "This payload is configured using the Server app" on the top of the various panels.
So my question is: How do you use Server to tweek those payloads? Can this be done using the serveradmin command line tool?
Thank you very much for your help.
    Regards

Bump. This is annoying the crap out of me. Every time I try to design a website using Coda, this color picker bug plagues me. I just wish I could turn off color profiles completely as I will never use them.

  • ERM - composite role is requiring profile name

I am configuring ERM (AC 5.3 SP8) and have imported all single and composite roles.  I have naming standards set up for all Single roles, composite roles, derived roles, and profile names.  However, when I try to create or change a composite role, it thinks a profile needs to be there (I blank it out on the create).  Composite roles don't require profile names.
If I delete the naming standard for profile, it doesn't require a profile for composite.  But then when I create a single role, it isn't there either.  I really want to maintain a naming standard for profiles for single and derived roles.  How can I do this without needing it for my composite roles?
    Thanks!

It is a bug with SAP.
You can have naming standards for profiles as long as you have ENFORCED=disabled.  So, basically, as long as you don't enforce your (profile) naming standards you can delete the profile name when you are creating a composite role.  It sort of defeats the purpose of enforcing naming standards but at least it's a work around.  SAP has this in development right now and it is being looked at.

    Peggy

  • How can I copy Apple Configurator profiles?

I'm trying to maintain two different profiles with 60+ wireless access point "payloads" and I can't seem to load both of them at the same time because:
"This Configuration Profile already exists. Do you want to replace it? Another version of this Configuration Profile ('<profilename>') already exists in the Library. Replacing it will overwrite its current contents."
I've tried editing a copy with a different name and identifier, but that doesn't seem to work and I'm not going to re-enter 64 wi-fi ap passwords.

Here are some replies I made to other users in the past that might help you. I hope these links lead to the correct posts.

  • TACACS+ Accounting "Network Access Profile" name is missing

    Hello,
I have a problem trying to export logs to the Cisco ACS View from my ACS 4.2
In the document http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_server_view/4.0/user/guide/appendixA.html Cisco states that one of the mandatory attributes for export to work is "Network Access Profile Name" under TACACS+ Accounting (under ACS 4.2 System configuration -> Logging settings). Well, I don't have this mandatory attribute listed in ACS under TACACS+ accounting log configuration. I tried to ignore this attribute, but then ACS View complains about null value for the attribute mentioned above.
Is this some bug in ACS View or ACS or maybe I simply missing something?;)

Cisco created a new bug for it:

  • WLAN Profile Name siginificance.

    Hi all,
I'm fairly new to the Cisco WLAN architecture and am curious what siginificance the 'Profile Name' associated to an SSID has locally on the WLC?  We have 8 SSIDs all with unique profile names and, I believe, the profile name is only locally siginificant to distinguish between SSIDs that have the same name (with differing L2 security policies).
Is this correct? If not, can anyone tell me what other significance the profile name plays in the authentication/assocation of a client with a particular SSID.
    Many Thanks

    David,
you are correct.  the profile name is so you can have a 'migration' ssid, where you use the same SSID, but have different security mechanisms for each one.

  • Configuration profile won't install

    Dear all,
I try to install a new Exchange configuration profile using Safari to be able to synchronize my ipod with my company's email and agenda (Lotus Traveler). The configuration profile is downloaded by Safari but the "Install profile screen" doesn't show up as it should do. I'm stuck on a web page with an empty square (representing a file I guess) and the name of the configuration file below. If I click on the file, nothing happens.
This happens since I installed the application called "Files Lite" to be able to store all kinds of documents in my ipod touch. At first, I was proposed to open the configuration profile with "Files Lite", which I didn't want. So I uninstalled "Files Lite" but now, I can't even open the configuration file. I guess Files Lite didn't clean up everything.
Did anybody experience this kind of problem ? Do you have any suggestion ?
    Thanks

"Files Lite"'s support team says it's something they had not planned in their software. A new version should be published soon on itunes solving this issue.
I personnaly found a workaround by uninstalling "Files Lite" PLUS another soft, "FileMap", which was in fact the origin of my problems ! Once all these files handlers uninstalled, I could install the configuration profile without any problem.

  • ERM Unhandled error; Unable to create role (Please provide a profile name.)

    All -
    <br><br>
I am running into 'yet another' issue in ERM! This error really has me going in circles because I am able to execute the exact same process in our Sandbox environment with NO PROBLEM... If any of you Guru's can help to point me in the right direction on how to address this issue it would be greatly appreciated.
    <br><br>
    Here's the issue:
    <br><br>
In our SANDBOX enviroment, the role creation process works as designed (Role Methodology: Definition --> Authorization --> Derivation --> Risk Analysis --> etc.). I'm able to define the role, add t-codes in the Authorization step and even Maintain them in PFCG.
    <br><br>
However in our DEV environment when I take the same steps and I add t-codes to the role, I get an error when I try to Maintain in PFCG --> <b>Unhandled error; Unable to create role (Please provide a profile name.)</b>
    <br><br>
The crazy thing is that when I remove the t-codes (to zero) I'm able to Maintain in PFCG!!! I am then able to save the Role 'Shell' in the backend (not adding any t-codes), come back into ERM and add t-codes there and Maintain in PFCG somehow works with the t-codes added now. So it seems as if that connection to the back through PFCG with no t-codes establishes the profile somehow and allows me to finish the process as intended. This is a pain because I will have to take this work around step for every role that I create in Development.
    <br><br>
In Sandbox however this works as intended and generates a profile at this step after adding the T-codes, thereby allowing me to Maintain in PFCG with no error.
    <br><br>
The configuration of these 2 boxes is exactly the same and the connections are both working successfully, I'm going crazy trying to figure this out! PLEASE HELP!

    Thanks Sirish,
I have run the configuration validator for both Sandbox & Dev Environments and received the same results in both. I would like to export the results, but am getting the following error when I select the 'Export' button for both:
    ./temp/webdynpro/web/sap.com/grc~accvwdcomp/Components/com.sap.grc.ac.cv.wdapp.CheckComp (Is a directory)
Initially I thought that the error was result of the "ERMApplicationRTACheck" failing, however it is failing for both environments with this Reason:
    Devleopment:
    ECD Client 150
VIRSANH version does not match (9)
VIRSAHR version does not match (7)
    OCD Client 100
VIRSANH version does not match (9)
VIRSAHR version does not match (7)
    Sandbox:
    ECC Sandbox
VIRSANH version does not match (9)
VIRSAHR version does not match (7)
    SAM Sandbox ECC
VIRSANH version does not match (9)
VIRSAHR version does not match (7)
So I'm still at a loss as to why its working in one environment and not the other...?

  • Can I install more than one configurator profile

I want to develop 3 or maybe 4 layers of iPad iOS8 restrictions & Passcode rules.
For example ALL iPads will have enforced Passcode rules, but only SOME iPads ill require content filtering & SOME require Control centre in lock mode.
The actual working groups of iPads require a lot more complicated set of config elements - above is only an example.
I'd like to create & install different profiles & INSTALL MORE THAN ONE PROFILE.
I have tested this on a few iPads & it seems to work.
My question is - Is this the recommended way / is there a problem if i install more that one profile ?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Kind Regards
    George kennedy.

We install many configuration profiles on each of our devices. We only use one payload per configuration profile so that we can be very granular with our configurations. What I don't know is what would happen if you installed 2 configuration profiles with conflicting restrictions (i.e. one configuration profile allows Messages, and another does not allow Messages). We just make sure we install only one restrictions configuration profile, and then a bunch of other configuration profiles (mail and calendar settings, web clips, WiFi profiles, etc) on each device.
    Hope this helps!

  • Is it possible to create a configuration profile that will install multiple network printers and their associated drivers

Is it possible to create a configuration profile that will install multiple network printers and their associated drivers?
I was not able to find profile manager on my employer's installation of 10.6 Server. Is this only a feature of 10.7/10.8 server?

10.6 server does not have profile manager, profile manager is only available in 10/7 and 10.8 server
for 10.6 server you'll need to use wgm and server admin
printer management with 10.6, I recommend you read the relevant server manuals regarding
print server and user management, printer management
