Signing a PDF Form

I would like to create a PDF form that my service technicians can use in the field to report service tickets. The tech will need the customer to sign the form. How can I do this with Acrobat Pro X without any additional software?
The techs will be using Asus Eee tablets with digitizer stylus, which will be used to sign. The tablet will only have Acrobat Reader X installed.

Sorry about that, I assumed it was the Android version. Adobe Reader should work just fine then, assuming that signing with the pencil tool is sufficient. This is the same as the "Apply Ink Signature" tool. The document will just need to be Reader-enabled.

  • I cannot e sign a pdf form

I am logged into my adobe acct so it isnt a question about forgotten passwords-however I cannot e sign a pdf form, why?

I saw the response below on another post and wonder if this will resolve your issue too.  Good luck.
The error in Adobe's programming on this page for some users is that what is addressed above is that you cannot enter a password because there is only ONE place that appears....there isn't two visible places that the user can match.
To get around this, first enter your password in the box you can see (first box).  Then the work around is that you enter the TAB KEY.  This will put you into the next box (that you can't see) and you will re-type your password blindly.  Make sure that you are typing it in exactly as the first as you are typing in the proverbial ether.   Hit the 'accept' button (or enter or whatever the OK button is for the page--sorry, i don't have the exact reference in front of me--but i think this part is self-explanatory) that you can see.  Hope this helps.

  • How do I get multiple people to sign a PDF form using a Touchscreen PC?

I have created a PDF form, using Acrobat XI Pro, to record a client training session. The form is being completed using Adobe Reader (on a Panasonic Touchbook running Windows 7), so I have extended it to allow saving and signing. On the form I have a digital signature field for each trainee (next to a text field for their name) and a digital signature field for the trainer.
Creating a proper digital signature, signable using a password, is fine for the trainer, but the trainees will only be seen once. Often/usually they do not have email addresses so emailing for a signature, using EchoSign/DocuSign is out, but I have a touch-screen computer so should just be able to pass it round for a quick signature. Also, the form will be completed offline, with the trainer turning up on a site, not having access to the internet.
Clicking on the signature field does not provide a way to create the handwritten signature, and although the sign tab shows EchoSign in Adobe reader, allowing you to create such a signature this is shown as disabled (I imagine because I have extended the form).
This is the last piece to the puzzle. Any ideas?
    Thank,
    Len
p.s. I did see a version using a flash object on ADEP 10, http://forums.adobe.com/message/3998457#3998457 but this seems a little hacky, plus I would prefer to use acrobat Pro because it does everything else I want it to do.

  • Multiple users signing the pdf form

I have date fields in the pdf form in which the signed date is inserted when each user signs the form. Although the Digital Signature property in pdf provides date property on the signature image. But we have a business requirement to show date field separately on pdf form. Suppose User1 signs the application and the date is inserted in its corresponding date field. But when User2 signs the application and the date is inserted the signatures of User1 gets invalidated.
Is there any way by which pdf field can be made editable even after one user signs the application?

PDF supports multiple signatures on a single form or document.  When using a form, you can use field collections to associate specific fields to a certain signature and lock those fields after signing, while leaving other fields accessible.  There are many posts throughout this forum that discusss this functionality, here is one...  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/769340
As for signature status, applying a second signature (or more) after a form or document has been signed will NOT invalidate the original signature, however it will change the status of the original signature to something like "Valid with signed changes".  Each subsequent signature will change the status of the previous signature, but this is not the same as invalidating a signature.
This behaviour is by design as a signature applied to a PDF signs the entire byte range of the PDF, not just a portion of it.

  • Turn off "Verifying all signatures" when digitally signing a pdf form?

    Hey All!
I have a pdf form (created with Acrobat X) with muliple digital signatures fields. Any time you sign a field, Adobe verifies all other signed signatures fields within the document.
So the more signature fields allready been signed, the longer it takes to place a new digital signature due to the adobe verifying setting mentioned above.
I have allready turned off "Verify signatures when the document is opened" in the security preferences, but I couldn't find a place to turn it off when signing a document.
I am just thinking, whoever designed the Acrobat/Adobe program must have left an option to disable those security features...so I even looked in Adobe policy within windows
registry, but I couldn't find anything either.
It's very frustrating - at the end of the form it takes up to 20 minutes to place a signature.
Any ideas and thoughts are more the welcome!!
    Thanks

Sir, thank you for the quick response!
No, It's a 22-pages form with 25 different signatures using PKI.

  • Is there a way to limit who can sign a PDF form?

    Morning,
I am using Acrobat X with Livecycle ES2
Does anyone know a way to limit who can sign a PDF with their digital signature?
    For example:
I create a form in LiveCycle and put the finished form in to a public managers directory in Windows.
For this specific form only “Manager2” and “Manager8” are authorized to sign it with their digital signatures. All other 15 managers can open the form, but when they attempt to sign it, get an error saying they are not authorized, or something similar.
Is this possible within Adobe Acrobat?
Note: Please do not suggest adjusting the Windows file/directory permissions, as this is not an option.
I am open ears for all Adobe suggestions.
    Kindly advise.
    Thanks,
    K

Yes, it's possible to set seed values for digital signature fields that can limit who is able to sign. LiveCycle Designer even has a UI for specifying the various options for a signature field, unlike Acrobat.

  • Tools for signing a pdf form using a stylus

I have created a form using Life Cycle Designer ES 8.2 and have included some signature boxes for uses to sign, on a Windows 7 o/s.  Instead of using digital signatures I would like the users to scribe on a professionally looking and performing wireless pad using a stylus tool/pen.  I have sourced such a device call the Wireless Bamboo pad from Wacom, but have read some mixed reports about the sensitivity and responsiveness of this device.
Does anyone have any experience of using such a device and could suggest what would be the best device to use?

Sorry about that, I assumed it was the Android version. Adobe Reader should work just fine then, assuming that signing with the pencil tool is sufficient. This is the same as the "Apply Ink Signature" tool. The document will just need to be Reader-enabled.

  • How do you auto populate a date in a different text field after someone digitally signs the PDF form?

I am trying to auto populate a date in a text box on the upper right hand corner of my document after someone digitally signs it. Is this possible? How do you do this?

Go to the Properties of the Digital Signature field and under the Signed tab enter this JS code, under the last option:
    this.getField("SignDate").value = util.printd("mm/dd/yyyy", new Date());
    this.getField("SignDate").defaultValue =this.getField("SignDate").valueAsString;
Of course, you can adjust the field name and the date format used in the script above.

  • Multiple digital signatures in a pdf form?

I'm creating an adobe pdf form that requires multiple approvers (one after the other) to digitally sign the form. However, once the second person digitally signs the form, the first person's signature will become invalid because the addition of the second signature is not signed by the first person.
Is it possible to digitally sign the pdf form excluding the signatures?  and how to allow multiple signature in a pdf form while ensuring the form integrity?

    Hi,
I doubt that the addition of a second signature actually invalidates (the red X icon) the first signature, but rather it shows the signature as Valid with Changes (the pen & yellow triangle icon). Technically, that is the correct signature status, but because it caused so much confusion, beginning with version 9, we've changed the user interface and stopped indicating changes to the PDF if the only change is a subsequent signature.
If on the other hand you are getting the red X for the first signature please let me know as I'd be curious to see the file.

  • How do I complete an electronic signature field in an Interactive PDF form (created in Indesign)?

How do I complete an electronic signature field in an Interactive PDF form (created in Indesign)? This form will serve as an employment application on a website. The goal is to have any person (interested in applying for a job via the Internet) access, complete and electronically sign the form upon submission.

    Hi,
Via createPDF you would not be able to electronic sign the PDF form, you would either require Adobe Reader or purchase Adobe Acrobat to sign the PDF.
    To download Adobe Reader

    You can purchase Adobe Acrobat

  • Non-Digital Signature on PDF Form

I've created a form and have a space where a signature is needed.  I'd like to use the signature field, but when my audience tested it the box was blank and did not allow them to upload a digital signature or go through the adobe security signature process (which it did for me).  This could be because they are only looking at it in Reader.  Nonetheless, here's my question:
Is there a way to create a signature field where they can either upload their own electronic signature (like from a .jpg file) or let them sign it with a different font?
Or do I just leave the signature field off, let them print it and hard sign the form, scan it and email it back?
    Help!

Recent versions of Acrobat can use digital certificates to sign PDF forms with a digital signature field.
Only Reader version XI can use a digital certificate to sign a PDF form with a digital signature field only if the form does not have Extended Reader Rights. Older versions or Reader cannot sign with a digital certificate.
If you need this or all versions or Reader you either need to use Echosign or other signing service or purchase a LIveCycle Server product to apply the special right for digital certificate signing. But this will be costly.

  • Fill out pdf form on iPad?

A friend has asked me to find out whether it's possible to fill out and sign a pdf form on an iPad. I don't have a stylus, so I have no way to test it. Does anyone know?

Adobe Reader will let you read and fill out form fields on the iPad. You can add a signature with it as well. You can highlight, annotate, rename files, and create folders. It's a pretty nice pdf app and it is free!

Is it possible for their digital certificates to be stored on a central network drive which the single pc has access to and when the signatures are inserted into the pdf by the person operating the PC the individual approver enter their password to approve the insertion/use of their indivudal signature?

  • Multiple signature PDF form without saving as a new PDF form

I know that when you sign a PDF form and hit save it opens up a window wanting to save a new PDF in a new location.  What I would like to do is have a PDF form in one location on a server where everyone can open the PDF form. sign the PDF and then just hit save to keep the PDF as one PDF and not create a new PDF every time someone signs the PDF.  IS this Possible?

    Hi josec36427220,
Yes, it is possible. you just need to hit save in the save as window. do not add anything to the file name and it would keep on replacing the old one.
