Signing documents with tablet PC in acrobat 9

I'm working with a customer who purchased several Acrobat 9.0 standard licenses for use with some patient forms. These forms need to be signed by each patient. I have a couple topaz signature pads, and have those working just fine. But I also need to be able to sign with 3 Lenovo X61 tablet PC's. I can't seem to figure out how to get that working. This seems like it should be built-in to acrobat, but it isn't. Do I have to get some 3rd party plugin?

I suspect that's not the problem, as I have no trouble selecting an area of any size I wish of images/objects most of the time.  The Select tool, at least in Acrobat 9, allows you to do this.

Cannot sign documents with Adobe Reader 10.1.3 - 10.1.10, Can sign document with 10.1.2 and 11.0.07
In my environment, we have 10.1.2 that's currently packaged. Our CIO was able to sign documents via signature with no problem. Later he got updated to 10.1.9, no longer can sign.
During testing I was able to confirm that 10.1.2 signed without problems, but anything that, it goes kaput, the Sign and options are not listed.
Latest Adobe Reader can sign... any ideas?

I'm having a similar problem.  What I'm trying to do is print a Microsoft Word 2010 document with paper size A4 to Adobe pdf document paper size A4.  I select "A4" for paper size in word and then print using Adobe print standard settings.  What I get is an Adobe document in 8.5 x 11.  This is an issue because these are patent documents for electronic filing in WIPO and they must be in A4 size.
If I select other sizes in Word, such as A3, Tabloid, and Legal, the Adobe file is in the same paper size.
If I print a Powerpoint document in A4 to Adobe, the Adobe file page size is A4.
If I print an Adobe file in 8.5 x11 to Adobe A4, the second Adobe file is in A4.
    Any help?

  • Sign Document with Signature validated Automatically

    Hi everyone
I want to sign a PDF document  with a certificate “.pfx”, I have adobe pro extended  and visual studio 2008 for do that and I’m using visual c sharp to develop my application until here everything it’s  ok the problem is after to sign the document when I open the document  adobe can’t verify the signature and timestamp,  I need to validate the signature manually  and I don’t need that, I need the validate the signature and timestamp automatically because I need to distributed a lot pdf sign documents to my customers and I can’t  provide exclusive solutions for each one of them for validate the segnatures, I hope you can help me with this issue.
    My Best Regards

What do you mean by "can't verify"?  That the validity is unknown?  Does it say why?
Most likely this is due to an unknown root certificate for the .pfx.  What is the root/CA for the .pfx?

  • Cannot Sign documents with stylus on windows tablet.

I bought a windows tablet with the purposes of having customers sign my worksheets electronically.
In reader 11.0.10 I navigate to; fill and sign --> Place Signature --> Draw my signature. Then using a stylus or my finger to try to input the signature in the allocated box and nothing happens. If i tap the screen with my finger or a stylus it will make black dots, and that is it.
If i use a mouse with the tablet i have to hold and click to write,  it will work, but then i would just use my laptop for signatures.
I have tried with the Adobe "touch" button on the menu bar both "on and off" and it still does not work.
I downloaded "adobe touch reader app" as well but it was a complete garbage product with no ability to sign anything.
I re-installed reader, to no avail.
I know its not my hardware because i can sign items in "XODO" without issue, using the same style of pop up box. I just would really like to have Adobe Reader do it all in one which it does not.
Is there any known work around or fix to make it function properly, or should i forget trying to use Adobe .pdf products for this purpose?

    Hi robinhood_montreal,
I understand the inconvenience caused by this issue, and there’re some suggestions for your reference.
What’s the OS version that your device is running ?
If it is running on Windows 8 RT, I suggest upgrade to Windows 8.1 RT, then you should be able to install the latest update of Lync App.

        2.  Make sure that the time and date on your device is set accurately. This is especially important for devices that aren't joined to a domain, such as Microsoft
Surface or other devices that are running Windows RT.

  • User unable to sign document with epad after extending features (Permission Error)

    Here's my situation;
I've provided a form for a user that has an epad to sign the document, the pdf itself has had text and signature fields added in LiveCycle, and within Acrobat Pro 9 the features have been extended. The user is still receiving the following; "The security settings on this document prevent adding text and/or placing a signature on it from Adobe Reader. To fill and sign this document you need to print it out."
What have I missed? From what I've understood in researching this, extending the features in Acrobat Pro should be enough to allow a user in Reader to sign the document.
Can provide file if need be.
    Thanks

Your user should go to Extended pane in Reader to apply a digital signature to the Reader extended PDF.
The user is probably trying to use the Sign pane in Reader which has some options disabled according to the document permissions. The new Sign pane in Reader is an integration with Adobe EchoSign service in the sense that it enables an end user to fill-up documents, electronically sign and then send a PDF document, without having the need to print them. The Sign pane provides two options to the user:
1 - Fill and Sign: Here the user can place text using 'Add Text'. Users can add arbitrary text to a PDF, eg. in documents where Reader cannot interact with the document even though the document looks like a form, in forms where user cannot save the filled-up form. In such cases the only option a user has is to print the form, fill it and then fax or fedex the filled up document to the author or scan it and send it electronically. Using the Sign pane in Reader, a user can add text and also electronically sign the document (this is not the same as digital signature) using an image of their signature. He can create a 'signature' from a scanned paper which has user's handwritten signature and place it on the PDF.
2 - Send for Signature: Here the user is sent to EchoSign for collecting signatures from others.
    Hope that helps.

  • Free S/MIME certificate to digitally sign .pdf with Acrobat Reader

    Good morning,
does anyone have idea where to obtain free S/MIME certificate for personal use and TRUSTED by Adobe Reader to digitally sign documents with own digital signature ? (Comodo S/MIME certificates released by GlobalTrust https://www.globaltrust.it/modulo_reg_smime.asp are free but aren't trusted automatically by Adobe)

    Thanks Ben,
Unfortunately, that video is for acrobat X or above and I cant find the "save as reader extended" option in Acrobat Pro 9.
Can this be done from this version?
    Thanks again

  • Adobe Reader XI- Trouble with signing documents

I can't sign documents with Adobe Reader XI. I have registered for Echosign (unwillingly) and also created an identity. The signature field is grayed out. I have tried several different documents. Some documents un-gray the signature option, but it does nothing when I click it. Please advise.

I had the same problem , but in my case it was caused by the document properties would prevent unsigned signature fields from being signed.

    Hi higi97,
How are you connected to the internet? Are you behind a particularly secure corporate firewall? Are you on Mac or Windows? Do you have any anti-malware software running on your machine that may be preventing applications other than your browser from connecting to the internet?
You may try to follow the steps below:
    1.Close the Creative Cloud application.
    2.Navigate to the OOBE folder.
    Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    Mac OS: /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE folder
    3.Delete the opm.db file.
    4.Launch Creative Cloud.
Let us know if that helps,
    Regards,
    Rave

  • Cannot digitally sign documents created with Adobe Acrobat X 10.1.4

The document is created using Acrobat X 10.1.4 Standard
I save it as an Extended PDF.  Signing is verified as being allowed.
When I open the file in Reader, signing is disabled.
This worked just fine 2 months ago.  What changed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Unfortunately, Acrobat Standard does not include the digital signature usage right when it Reader-enables a document. You'll need Acrobat Pro for that. Note that it shows in Acrobat that signing is allowed, but it won't show the same thing in Reader. That's because signing is allowed in Acrobat unless restrictions are in place.

  • The "sign document" function is not working in Adobe Acrobat X 10.1.8?

I had an issue with Adobe Acrobat erroring with an error message relative to the Crypto file in Windows.  I attempted to do the file folder renamaing to 'old', etc. to no avail.  When I tried to restore everything to it's original state, the sign document window appears (see below), but when I click on the sign document buttone, nothing happens at all.  I have tried this in multiple documents, through multiple siging routes, and all the same non-result.  I have also reinstalled Acrobat to no avail; advice?

This is the Reader forum; the Acrobat one is here:

  • Signing with digital id in Acrobat Reader DC

We have been using Acrobat Digital Signatures for long time. I have just installed Reader DC and I am trying to find out how it can be done in this new version. In the Edit / Preferences I am able to create digital ID and setup it's appearance but I cannot find how to sign the pdf document with this signature. Is it still possible ? How it should be done ??
    Regards,

Acrobat/Reader 7 has not and will not be updated to work with Windows 7.
Acrobat/Reader 7 is not longer supported or updated by Adobe.
You should upgrade to version 9 or X.

  • Appending new pages to signed documents now makes Acrobat 9 and Reader 9 mark signature as invalid

    Hello!
I have developed a service that appends additional pages to existing PDF documents. Some of the documents the service works on happen to be signed. As the service appends the pages using incremental updates, the signed contents are left untouched. This makes Acrobat 8 and Reader 8 display the signature state as "valid with subsequent changes" which is ok and no one complains about.
Now along come Acrobat 9 and Reader 9, and all of a sudden the signature state is "invalid" which my users do complain about. Telling them that inspecting the signature state details they can see that the signed content still is untouched and the actual change is recognized to be some appended pages, doesn't help either as they in turn forward the documents to their customers who don't accept the documents if the Adobe Reader sais the signatures are invalid.
Does anyone know a way new pages can be added to a signed document without having the new Adobe program versions choke on them?
Even a hint that involves adding some flag to the original unsigned document or the signature itself would help as the users in question can tweak those processes. Due to the nature of the workflow, though, signing unfortunately must happen before my service can add the new pages.
    Best regards, Mikel.
By the way, the signatures in question are regular approval signatures, nothing fancy, especially not certifying signatures (which indeed can forbid any changes or at least any changes but some form fill-ins and annotations)...

    Hi Fritz,
In the interest of full disclosure, I got the answer to the problem from one of my distinguished colleagues, I'm just the messenger in this case.
The problem is that the form adds some items to the Arzneispezialität / Zusatztext combobox which are there during signing but the form doesn’t remember that it did this on the next form open.
Since this field is included in the MDP+ signature and the field has changed in the re-opened version vs. the signed version, the MDP+ signature becomes invalid.
XFA has a feature that remembers these kinds of things for you but it is turned it OFF. Please open the attached screen shot to see the control in question.
So, you can either (1) turn this feature ON (Automatically), or (2) write some script to clear the combobox items prior to signing or (3) write some script to repopulate the combobox items on the subsequent open to match the items that were there during signing.

  • Can I certify a document with Acrobat Reader ?

Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to certify a document with Acrobat Reader. The sign toolbar button "Certify" in Reader is always disabled even if the document has not been signed. Thanks in advance.

I just tried it.   Even saved a document with Reader Extended PDF and a signature field (which you can only do with Acrobat).  I opened in Reader but could not certify it (although I could digitally sign in).  I can certify in Acrobat.
It's possible you can certify a Portfolio (container for PDF docs) using Reader.  However, right now that's not working with the current version of Acrobat or Reader.  (Adobe engineering is working on that - see my recent posting).
It's also possible that the bug with certifying/signing Portfolios is also preventing other actions from happening.  I don't know.
