Signing in to iBooks

I have downloaded Mavericks on my iMac.  After opening iBooks, I try to sign in, but nothing happens after clicking on STORE and SIGN IN.  How do I sign in and have the books tat are on my iPhone be available through iCloud?

Like this?
If so, its not just you. Only these programs fail to update for me. Meanwhile, Windows 8 Pro virtual machine works like a champ!

  • How can I sign out of iBooks on iMac Mavericks?

I have not signed up to Cloud services. However, the details of books  I have sampled on iBooks have apparently been saved to cloud. I would like to sign out of iBooks but cannot see a way to do it. Can anyone advise? Thank you.

John, thank you. It was so simple I feel like an idiot. Do you know whether book samples automatically save to the cloud, or is there a way of disabling this, in all applications?
Can cloud-saved items be retrieved from the cloud?

  • Ibook doesn´t start (forbidden sign) after upgrade 10.0.4 to Jaguar

It´s appear a forbidden sign when the ibook start after install jaguar since 10.04.I´ve reseted pram open firmware, shift key etc..

    You're Again Welcome juanelo!
"...install the Jaguar cd from Classic-9.2.2..."
So you were booted into OS 9.2.2, not running Classic through OS X, right?
Running Classic, is different than starting up in OS 9.2.2.
    "...updatint the firmware."
Did you download and install, the Firmware Update, that was previously linked to?
And you did that, after you installed Jaguar 10.2.x?
"...using to upgrade to Panther the Install Cd,"
Do the discs look exactly like THESE, and do not say Upgrade, CPU Drop-in DVD, or "This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase - not to be sold seperately." on them?
    "...added 512 mg of memory."
Are you sure this is compatible, working RAM, and is it new, or used?
"Sorry about the free disk space.I don´t want classic now just Panther."
So if the Hard Drive is 6GB, and it is empty now, did you Erase the drive?

  • Sync iBooks from iPad to iphone5

How do you sync I book PDF files from iPad to iphone5???

No, this is not necessary or correct. It's not necessary to transfer to and from the iTunes library. When you sign into your iBooks account on each device you have iBooks installed in:
iBooks > Store > Purchased > shows everything you bought > download from there wirelessly.

  • IBooks buggy on my iMac

I received an  iBook as a gift. When I signed in to iBooks it asked for the password for my Apple ID. After I put this in I clicked  on redeem.  Asked for my Apple ID password again. Nothing happened. I clicked redeem again.  It asked for my password once more. This was an endless cycle.  I then redeemed the book on my iPhone and downloaded it without a problem.  I opened iBooks on my iPad and also downloaded it there.  Went back to my iMac (both at the time and also the next day) hoping I could now download it since all devices shared the same Apple ID.  No luck.  In preferences "synch across devices" was checked.  I then also checked "automatic download."  However, if I quit iBooks and restarted it, the automatic download was
now unchecked although synch was still checked. Also, if I closed the app and re-opened it I was asked for my password again.  Since I don't do much reading directly from my computer, this is not a huge problem  However, being obsessive, these kind of bugs really get into my head and are most annoying.  Help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't need to replace them unless you had books that weren't downloaded from the iBooks Store. In that case, restore from the backup you made.
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Password to open iBooks

Every time I open iBooks, it asks for my iTunes password. Is there a way I can turn this feature off of my iPad?

Try this I read on another Support Thread:
Go into your iTunes app on the device(s) you use and check the Downloads tab.  If you have pending downloads clear it.
I checked both iPhone and iPad and sure enough there was "pending" downloads in the iTunes app.  I cleared them and signed on to iBooks without having to re-enter password.  Still a "Bug" in my book but at least a workable solution.

  • Sync iBooks From iPAD to iPhone

Please follow the steps below to figure out how to Sync iBooks From iPAD to iPhone
Before Starting: Settings For Both Devices
    1. Settings > iBooks > Sync Collections > On
    Then...
    1. Sync iPAD with iTunes.
    2. File > Transfer Purchases From iPAD (this should transfer those books your purchased on your iPAD onto your iTunes)
    3. Un-sync iPAD from computer
    4. Sync iPhone
    5. Store > Purchased > Drag book(s) from the "Purchased folder" to your iPhone (this should transfer your book(s) from iTunes onto your iPhone)

No, this is not necessary or correct. It's not necessary to transfer to and from the iTunes library. When you sign into your iBooks account on each device you have iBooks installed in:
iBooks > Store > Purchased > shows everything you bought > download from there wirelessly.

  • US iBook and UK Keyboard help needed..

    Hey there.
Some time ago my girlfriend bought an iBook G4 from eBay. We both use the iBook and use a UK Mac keyboard with it, the only problem is is that the pound sign, when used comes out as the $ sign on the iBook and # when using the UK keyboard. Number 3 is supposed to be the pound sign when shift and 3 are pressed, how do assign the key to show the pound sign? It's annoying cause' everytime we need to use the sign we have to resort to using the 'special characters' option. I hope someone can help, thanks!

    Hi Tymon,
You will need to set your keyboard input menu to UK. Do the following:
    1. Fire up System Preferences
    2. Select the International icon
    3. Within the International preferences window select the Input Menu tab
    4. Ensure Keyboard Viewer is ticked (not needed here but very useful to have available)
    5. Scroll down and tick on the British Keyboard box
    6. If it's not already ticked, select the "Show input menu in menu bar" box (bottom left of the window).
That's it. You will now notice a flag in the top right of the menubar. It should be the British flag. If not, simply click on the flag and select British. Your keyboard input layout should now be in the familiar British flavour.

  • How  do you delete your free books?, how  do you delete your free books?

Click on the book that you want to delete (right click) then a dropdown list should come out. Select Delete then a dropdown box should pop-up and ask you if you want to delete this book from the Mac. Select delete. Either a cloud will appear on the book or it will be deleted. If the cloud appears then sign out of Ibooks. That should do the trick.

  • Does any have problem viewing digital signature from PDF?

I have this problem, when viewing digitally signed PDF from iBooks app, all the signatures are gone.

I sign the pdf with a digital signature which includes a picture of my written signature.  When I attach it to Apple mail or upload to mobileme, the signiture disappears.  My clients see nothing.  When I go back to the email in the sent box and open the pdf in the email there is no signature.  When I open the original pdf the signature is there
This problem does not exist in outlook 2011, but would have liked to use mail as outlook does not support caldev
I don't know if I can explain it any better.

  • Inear Earphones replacement rubber tips in UK

    Hey guys.
I lost the little rubber tip off my new inear earphones with mic/remote. I called Applecare, the only solution they offered was to try and sell me a new set of phones for £65!
Checked on-line and found one or two places claiming to sell them in the U.S, but is there anyway to get some replacements in the UK?
Seems crazy that I'd need to buy a whole new set of earphones when mine work perfectly well, just missing a piece that probably costs around 10p to make!

    Hi Lyssa,
Thanks for your thoughts. I was really disappointed that Apple no longer supply them: I guess it's a sign that the iBook will soon be entirely obsolete...
I also find Amazon to be generally more trustworthy than eBay, but as far as I can tell all the chargers offered for sale on Amazon.co.uk are from third-party merchants anyway (i.e. not Amazon itself), so I wasn't sure how that would differ from buying from an eBay "business seller". Ebay is half the price of Amazon (£10-15 as opposed to £25-30), but if the general experience is that Amazon is better, I don't mind paying the higher price
Does anyone else have any other thoughts/experiences - especially people in the UK?
A follow-up question, if I may: how do I know which wattage power-supply I should buy? My system profiler says:
    AC Charger Information:
    AC Charger (Watts): 50
    Connected: Yes
    Charging: Yes
Do I go for 45W or 65W?! (sorry, this is probably a really dumb question, but I don't really have any idea how these things work and don't want to blow anything up!)
    Thanks,
    Lauren.
