SIIG SATA 4 channel PCI-M - problems

All,
Have a PowerMac G4 933 that I will be installing 4 SATA drives into. Purchased the SIIG SATA 4 channel PCI-M card (specific for Mac).
Before installing SIIG card - system boots fine. Install card, system simply will not boot - screen stays dark, cannot open CD drive, cannot boot from CD etc....
If I remove the SIIG card - system boots fine. I have swapped the card slot location and I get the exact same issue.
I only have 2 of the 4 SATA drives in the system at this time, am going to simply try using only one drive to see if that works.
Pretty frustrating at this point as many have had no issues with this card/system.
thoughts?

Good luck,
I bought two of their Two Channel *Ultra ATA* cards (MP4A) Dec '05 for my 450 AGP and 533 DA and tried for two months going back and forth with SIIG trying different things out and finally got tired of doing their R&D for them and gave them back. It would hard crash (Kernal Panic) if you transfered anything over an EMPTY folder and just ramdomly crash not doing anything with the drives just hooked up. Looking at the crash report you could see the cards were the one crashing the system. I got from their support person that they only had a MDD and one of the first G-5s to check things out on.
I tried both cards in both computers and it would do the same thing. They even sent me new cards and the same thing would happen.
I was just thinking on looking again for either the Ultra ATA card or going to the SATA card this time from some one else. Getting tired of partitioning every high capacity drive. No support for over 128 gig drives in the early G-4's.

I have an Xserve PowerPC G5 Dual 2.3GHz (mid 2005).  Have LSI Logic Fibre Channel PCI Card installed (Product: LSI7202XP).
My question: Can this Fibre Channel PCI Card be installed in a Apple xServe (Early 2008) - 2.8 GHz Xeon Quad-Core?  Any info will be greatly appreciated.
    -jason

I think there is. It is hard to believe that ~200MB/s read comnpared to 0,7MB/s write speeds are a feature rather than a bug/problem.
I haven´t tested the used xserve with another xraid, I used different server for the Xraid benchmarking.

  • Reverse audio channels (PCI express X-Fi titanium)

2Reverse audio channels (PCI express X-Fi titanium)& Hi,
Today I bought an X-Fi titanium *hoping* it would have the option in the drivers to reverse my left channel to right channel and vice versa.
I have gone through a lot of trouble trying to achieve this and would definitely appreciate the help in finding a solution.
Why do I need this? When playing games I hear everything reversed *IN MY HEAD*. If I hear something left... it's actually on the right. Thats why I have to either reverse my speakers or wear my headphones backwards. BUT... I have a 00$ headset that doesnt allow me to reverse my headset because it only wears one way.
My game doesnt allow me to reverse the stereo. Does the creative X-Fi software/driver allow this in *any* way?
    I appreciate the help!

VLC media player can reverse than stereo chanels for music and movies but i don't know of a way to apply it to games. [email protected]

  • SB PCI-64 Problems with Recordings in Ste

    Hi!
    I use a Soundblaster PCI-64 with Win XP and the Standard-Drivers (Driver 5..2535.0, Date: 0. July 200) .
I've connected my music instruments with the line-in-jack and everything works fine, when I'm just jamming around.
But when I try to record my stuff in STEREO, all of my recording-programs turn it into MONO. Even if I only record the left or the right channel, it always comes out in crappy (sorry!) MONO.
I think that it may be a Driver-Problem, but what do you think? Does a newer Driver exist? Where do I find it's
And if it doesn't work either: What cheap and simple Creative-Soundblaster would you recommend for reliable work with WinXP?

Take your sata drive off and you can overclock higher. There is no PCI/AGP lock so the speeds are affecting your sata drive. 210 mhz. system clock is about the limit before the sata drives start to act up.
The problem is with that particular VIA chipset. No way around it has been found to work in a practical manner.

And if I don't install the video card pci-express and I intall my old video card port pci 16 mb Banshee the pc starts up perfect and doesn't have problems.  what is the real problem?    1) the video card pci-express, 2) the port pci-express of the mobo, 3)that I have a psu with connector 20-pin? Thanks

    dear moderator,
i got same problem as Calvido. My system specification MSI 915G Combo with the lastest bios v1.8 with a processor pentium 4 530 3.0 ghz, memory kingston 1GB DDR 533 dual channel, psu 350w True power, video card Leadtek Geforce 6600 256 MB PCI-EXPRESS, hard disk 120 GB maxtor 7200 rpm SATA. And I have a problem with the PCI-Express, if i use the intergrated graphic intel 900 it dun give me any problem n i used for more than 6mth.
It happen when i try to upgrade my intergrated graphic card to PCI-E. 1st i try with the Inno3D geforce 6600 256mb PCI-E n when my com start until windows it become blank screen for awhile the screen appear again for no more than 1 min became blank again. 2nd try i use Leadtek Geforce 6600 256MB PCI-E it seem alright but when i click on icon it start to delay ...until hang. 1st i thought my OS problem so i format my system, but problem still the same so i repeat format until 7 or 8 times. Problem not solve.

  • SATA/IDE channel configuration issues

    Ok here's the setup:
First SATA Channel: Seagate 7200RPM 80GB HDD
Primary IDE Channel: LG 52x CD-ROM Drive
Secondary IDE Channel: Western Digital 7200RPM 160GB HDD
    OS: Windows XP SP1
    Mobo: MSI 865PE Neo2-P MS-6728 Version 2
The bios can detect all drives.
If I use the recommended On-chip IDE Configuration mode as mentioned on page 3-23 in the manual, Windows XP loads and then goes through the process of detecting the Primary and Secondary IDE channel.
After detecting it reports that Windows reports that the "Driver is not intended for this platform".
If you look under Administrative Tools in Control Panel is refuses to detect the PATA drive as well.
I tried swapping the PATA and the CD drives around but the above applied.
If I try the following drive configuration and set the bios ATA Configuration to PATA & SATA then all drives are detected in Windows:
First SATA Channel: Seagate 7200RPM 80GB HDD
Primary IDE Channel Master: LG 52x CD-ROM Drive
Primary IDE Channel Slave: Western Digital 7200RPM 160GB HDD
So what's up? I've tried tinkering around with Legacy/Native, PATA/SATA Only etc and I've run out of ideas.

I got similiar problem as b52 when I plugin an old P-ATA deathstar drive as master on first primary IDE and a LITE-ON dvd-rom as master on secondary. When I enter Windows the hardware auto wiz starts working and after a little while reports that two devices of type "IDE channel" have "Driver is not intended for this platform". I currently use the settings Danny recommends above. Weird thing is both the deathstar and the LITE-ON drive seem to work great. Of course I want to get rid of the exclamation marks in my device manager though. I read elsewhere drive emulation software could be a culprit, and renaming/deleting atapi.sys could be a problem solver - but not for me it turned out. Anyone got other methods to try out?

  • External Drives Won't Mount with SIIG Fire WIre 800 PCI Card

I can't get any drive to mount using this card. It's the SIIG FW 800 3 port PCI card. I've also got the SIIG FW 400 and I think a Belkin 5 port usb PCI card. I've removed the other cards leaving just the 800. I've moved them all around into different slots. Nothing Changed. I've reset the PRAM and the NVRAM. I've Unplugged system and let it sit for a while. I've had only one drive connected to the 800 card and no other 400, 800 or usb peripherals connected. That didn't help either. Again, this is the second card, so I have to assume that the odds of getting to bad cards in a row is a long shot... right? I have to assume that it's the G5 but the other cards work when put into any of the PCI slots. I know all the drives work. I'm just kind of baffled here. Oh, and in the system profiler the drive shows up as "Unknown Device" but it never mounts on the desktop. Also drives connected to the 800 PCI card don't show up in programs like Diskwarrior or Drive Genius. Starting the drive while Disk Utility is open also does nothing. So, I'm at a loss. I spoke with SIIG tech support and they said they had no idea but they could test the card if I send it to the. That would at least confirm or deny if the card is faulty. I think the card is ok and the mac is just messing with it somehow? Any Ideas? Could resetting the PMU help? I've also cleared my cache and defragged and rebuilt the data directory and all the usual utility stuff. So the system is peppier but still no drives mounting on the 800 pci card? Please shout out if you have an idea... Thanks..

I eventually gave up. I will probably get another card at some point but it probably won't be a SIIG card. Even though they are recommended by digidesign I just doesn't seem to want to work with my G5. Maybe it's some kind of weird software conflict blocking the functionality of the card? Don't know. Two cards in a row were non functional. Something is gummin up the works and the PCI slots work with the other cards I have. The only thing I did not try is plugging in the optional power connection to the FW800 card, which is supposed to be optional. I called SIIG and they had no idea what the problem was and they also said that the power plug would not make a difference for the problem I was having. Anyway, I'm gonna keep monitoring posts to this cause I'd love to hear the answer.. but I'm throwing in the towel. Good luck to the rest of you still trying to solve the riddle.

  • PCI id problem under Solaris-8,9,10

In attempting to qualify a SuperMicro X5DA8 dual CPU dual channel SCSI card I have found a problem with the PCI id's for the Adaptec 7902 (Ultra-320) chipset. My question is whether the problem is SuperMicro's, Sun's or Adaptec's.
The DCA->Device Tasks->View/Edit Devices displays the PCI id of the two SCSI controllers as follows:
    [ ] PCI: 9005,801f.9005.5f.3 Adaptec AIC-7902 - Ultra 320 SCSI
The /etc/driver_aliases file has the entries:
    cadp "pci9005,5f"
    adpu320 "pci9005,801f"
The file: /boot/system/driverdb/master has the entries:
    pci9005,801f pci9005,801f msd pci adpu320.bef "Adaptec AIC-7902 - Ultra320 SCSI"
    pci9005,5f pci9005,5f msd pci cadp.bef "Adaptec AIC-7896 SCSI"
Checking in www.pcidatabase.com shows that the two above identifiers map to:
9005,801f Vendor Adaptec: Ultra320 SCSI Controller
    9005,5f Vencor Adaptec: Ultra2 SCSI Controller !!!!!
The presence of the 9005.5f is confusing Solaris to the point that it is loading the incorrect driver and crashing. It is my belief the the 9005.5f device identifier is incorrect, or is it? Is this identifier put in firmware by SuperMicro or is it possibly embedded in the AIC-7902 chips?
As I am not an OEM to SuperMicro or Adaptec I can't ask them directly. If anyone has any insight as to whose problem this is I can hopefully report it as a bug to the appropriate party and perhaps get it fixed.
Kudos to j.keil for helping me sort this out. I am able to get Solaris-10 running on this board but only after hacking the aforementioned files. It would be nice to have it work out of the box.

  • Nvidia 8600M GT PCI-E problem on GX600 notebook.

    Hello,
I've got MSI GX600 notebook with Nvidia 8600M GT video card.
The problem is, that the notebook has a low performance in 3D.
It's caused by that 8600M GT video card, because the GPU-Z shows, that the card runs only in PCI-E 1x mode, but it is in the x16 PCI-E "slot".
I tried everything. Reinstall of OS (Windows 7 64, Windows XP, Windows 7 32), new drivers, old drivers, nvidia drivers, msi drivers, alternate drivers(OMEGA),
flashing of motherboard bios, cleaning the ventilations and heatsink, but the problem is still here. Are there any advices or ideas, how to solve it?
The notebook is 3 years old, so the warranty is gone and i don't want to buy new PC.
    A Lot of thanks, S.Martin.

Um, have you actually compared benchmarks of other 8600m GT cards?
They aren't very good in the first place.
There is nothing to compare, i see a graphic performance slowdown in everything, and detailed list from gpu-z. I've found a problem, now i need the solution.

  • PCI Cardbus Problems After Upgrade to 10.4

I just recently updated to 10.4 and am now having problems with my PCI cardbus.
Whenever I put it in my PB G4 my whole computer freezes up.
Click, spinning ball, cant click anything else.
It took me a while to figure out if I pulled the card out everything is okay.
    Except...
I need this PCI to get my video from my camera to my external through the firewire.
Cant daisy my camera, cuz i always get dropped frames during capture.
(its a canon thing ive heard)
Would it be the upgrade or did my Iogear 2 in1 just quit out on me?
    Anyone with a similar problem?
Any ideas on what to do to see if its my cardbus?
    Thanks in advance
    Nate

    Hi,
Did as suggested and it now boots into the Welcome screen and asks the basic items for setting up OS 10.4 and then gets stuck on the setting up the keyboard. I have a wireless logitech keyboard/mouse set up with my mac. Any other suggestions.

  • PCI port problems with video card

I have been running 2 video cards (ati 9800pro and 7500) fine for about 2 months now.  Over the weekend I came home to find the monitor with my second card garbled with black lines running up and down the screen, shifting left and right.  Also, there was a problem with my promise controller (had a question mark next to it in device manager)  I reinstalled that and it works fine now.  My second card continues to give me problems though.  Device manager picks it up and says that my card is working fine but in display settings my card does not show up.  I believe it a problem with the motherboard as I have tried 2 nvidia cards with the same result.  It is also not related to windows as if I change the boot config to load my second card first (pci) the black lines/wavy picture loads up with the msi screen and in the bios setup as well (totally unreadable).  I've also made sure that my monitor is working fine.  Any suggestions????  Thanks.
    Ian

Well to tell you the truth, I don't like the sound of this ...especially since you said that you tried another card, and had the same result....Well I would first go into the BIOS and on the PNP/PCI page, check the Clear NVRAM to enabled..As this will reset all the PNP devices...See if that works ...Have you tried to switch the AGP/PCI initiation sequence in the BIOS? back and forth?...You can also see if there are any IRQ conflicts.(but you probaly did this allready)...You can also try to increase the PCI latency, If it is set to 32 go up to 64 and try...Do you have any other PCI cards with problems?...Have you tried a different PCI slot?.....Well maybee another member or moderator has some advice ...Let us know.....Sean REILLY875
