Silent headphones.

Hi there! Please forgive my ground-school english !
I have this annoying thing .... when recording with my isight build-in camera and using an external microphone, I get no sound in my headphones connected on the computers left side, while recording my guitar and other instruments. I've checked & changed the settings in the apple menu - and in the program - forth & back several times. I also read everything in iMovie's support-menu whithout finding anything.
The sound is shown at the meters, so it's in! - and it's there when playing back the clip.
But not while recording ??
Any sound-engineer in the house ??

Thanks for your answers. I think David has a point... - that the program could be secured against feedback - consequently! Since it's not made for music recording. (even though using headphones normally solves that problem, right?).
Not a word about this issue in the support menu, and I've checked the system preferences>sound several times.
I'll see if I can find a small mixer somewhere. That sounds like the right solution.
Yes, I ran into the same problem in GarageBand, but changing the feedback-settings at the right side, solved that problem

Buttons (silent, volume, on/off) and headphone jack no longer working!

All of a sudden my iPhone stopped working - that is, none of the buttons work except the round one below the screen. None around the sides work any more and the headphones jack doesn't work either. I have the latest os/firmware (3.1). This happened totally out of the blue. I know of nothing special that could have caused it. Just happened one day when I tried to use headphones and noticed the volume kept sounding through my speakers rather than the phones. And then I noticed the silent didn't work, the volume up/down button on the side didn't work, etc.
I can not turn my phone off so I tried to let the battery die out and then recharge it which resets it. But that didn't help either. Buttons still aren't working.
This means I can't turn on silent, adjust volume, listen using my headphones or use hands-free.
Any ideas why?
I purchased my phone back in Aug '08 so it's just out of warrenty, of course!

Problem is since I bought mine online, I have to send it in to the online store to have it checked. And they couldn't even promise they could, or would do anything.
I live in Norway and there is no Apple store. They have "certified dealers" but they won't look at my phone since I didn't buy from them.
Bottom line is I will be without my phone for at LEAST a week for them to look at it, and then there is a good change they won't fix it for free or even at all.
That's why I was hoping for some advice from somebody that may know about this...

When you turn your phone on and off silent at the side I tried turning it on and turn the ringer volume up but it said that I had headphones in so it won't ring or play any media it only plays it I put my head phones in I check to see of it was the speakers by changing my ringtone on settings but it worked and played fine it's just that my problem is it won't come on loud and it says I have headphones plugged in?

Messaging, mail and phone sounds in headphones with phone in silent mode

I just upgraded to the 3gs from the original iphone and I seem to be confused as to whether I should be getting all the different sound alerts through my headphones when my phone is in silent mode. I thought the original did that. can someone tell me if it's possible to get the sound alerts through the headphones if they're attached and the phone is in silent mode?

both the new iphone and the old one both do the same way
as long as you have the headphones plugged in you will hear it in the headphones
there is no way to "mute" it

Internal speaker silent but headphones work

I re-installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 on my Lenovo Thinkcentre M57, but since then, the internal speaker remains silent(but headphones work). I tried to install various drivers on lenovo webpage and elsewhere (AC'97, etc...), without result. Before this re-installation, internal speaker was working normally.

If the headphones are OK, then check your speakers. If they are powered speakers there may be a problem with the speaker's amplifier or you could have a loose connection.

AudioServicesPlaySystemSound not woriking in [headphone & silent mode]

I have some problem of AudioServicesPlaySystemSound function.
In condition of [HEADPHONE pluged in] AND [SILENT mode] ,
AudioServicesPlaySystemSound() does not work.
Is this normal status?
Do I have to use other method?

Ok, looks like I have solved my problem. After trying every thing up to a complete dump and reload back to factory new; I fixed the phone purely by accident.
I was getting a message that said something like – this accessory is not an iPhone compatible device. Would you like to start in airplane mode to reduce the risk of external interference?
I got that message even after restoring the phone and dumping all the data from the phone. So I was sure it was not a software thing. I loaded an iTunes song and tried to play it but the problem had not been resolved; Still no sound and no volume slider at the bottom of the screen.
I decided I was going to take the phone to the store for possible repair. Used a can of air and blew the dust out of the data/charge port on the bottom of the phone. As soon as I did that I noticed the volume bar appeared on the screen.
Every thing appears to be working normally now. I guess I had some foreign object in the port that was causing the phone to think an adapter was plugged in.
Moral of my story – blow the dust and pocket lint (in this case it was my wife’s phone so it was purse lint) out of the phone ever now and then.

My ringer does not work on my phone (not sure what happened, didn't smash it, nor did it fall to the ground), and I have been on silent/vibrate mode for a few months now. Unfortunately I am unable to listen to music without headphones, or get on speaker.

I can hear sounds when I plug in to headphones or on bluetooth (streaming audio from my car).
Can anyone help?

Unfortunately the ringer does not work - which causes the speaker to not work when it's switched on to ring mode, unless I'm on bluetooth. It has recently stopped working and I've had this phone for 2 years.

Silent iPad 2 - recognize an inexisting headphone

My name it´s Pedro, i´m a brazilian iPad 2 user. First of all, sorry for the bad english.
I have a problem at my iPad 2speakers and maybe someone can help me.
I had no sounds at the speakers of my iPad, i do not hearing any sound of any app (noise of keyboard, notifications, musics played at ipod app etc).
But my speakers are ok. Because if i go to the settings, i can test the sound and i hear normaly.
The side button of mute it´s not at hte mute position.
And have more, the most weird staff of my problem.
I perceb that when i go and use the physical volume button it recognize like i´m using sume headphone at the iPad, but i do not. It´s like he think i had a headphone plugged, so do note make the sound at the speaker.
The problem appears at the IOS 4.3.3, yesterday, i make the upgrade to 5.0, and the problem persists.
Someone have an solution ? I do not want put my iPad at the technical assitance, at my country the TA´s it´s not so good.

Have you checked the headphone jack for debris? That can sometimes cause the iPad/iPhone/iPod to go into headphone mode.

IPhone 4 headphone jack not working right.

So the headphone jack in my iPhone 4 i don't think is working properly. The right headphone does not put as much sound out as the left. I'm not sure why it was working perfectly just yesterday. I haven't dropped it or got water in it or anything. I tried plugging it in and unplugging it a few times, i reset my phone, turned it off then on and nothing seems to be working. Its not on silent and the volume thing is centered. Idk what could e happening. Help!!!

I would test the headset in another device such as a computer
and test another 3.5mm minijack headset in the phone to tell if it's the phone or headset

The button on the side that turns my phone to silent does not work and niether does the up volume button. I have tried restarting my phone, I did a soft reset, I checked all my settings, but nothing has worked. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I have an iPhone 4 and recently started to have some problems. First, the button on the side of my phone, that puts the phone on silent is not working. I can move the switch, but my phone stays in silent. However, If I plug my headphones in, Then I can hear everything like I am supposed too. Also, my up volume button does not work. This is with the headphones also.
I have tried doing a soft reset, I reset all of my settings, I updated my software, I restored everything back to factory settings, and nothing has fixed it. I bought it from best buy and can send it in for service, but the last time I sent a phone in, it took them 3 months! and I really don't want to go without my phone that long.
Does anybody have any suggestions?

Sounds like it either believes that there are headphones plugged in, or the switch is broken.
Why in the world would you take it to Best Buy for service? Take it to an Apple Store. They can replace it on the spot if it's defective.

IPhone 4s headphones no longer working properly

I purchased my iPhone 4s when it came out and have been using the headphones all this time. I have noticed however, in the past few months, that the audio output has changed.. In order for me to hear the music properly, I have to angle the headphones in a special way (as in it is barely audible in the usual angle).. Has this happened to anyone else? and is this covered under the extended warranty?

I was having an issue where my phone was not vibrating for incoming calls even though it was set to vibrate in silent mode. It was still vibrating for texts. I finally figured out the solution that worked for me:
Settings > Notifications Center > Phone (Badges, Alerts) > Alert Sound > Vibration; make sure it is set to anything but 'NONE' to receive vibration. Same works for texts just follow the same steps as above except select Messages instead of Phone so its:
Settings > Notifications Center > Messages > Alert Sound > Vibration set to anything but NONE

Is there a way to prevent the ringtone from playing through my headphones when listenting to music?

I am exceedingly concerned about my hearing, so when listening to music through my headphones, I always turn the volume down. However, when I receive a call, the ringtone, which is works on a separate volume control from the music and other apps, rings at its normal volume - even if the phone is set to silent. I find this exceedingly troublesome as I have to lower the ringtone volume when I'm using my headphones as well and turn it back up when I'm done.
Is there a way to stop this? If I deliberately set the phone to silent, shouldn't the ringtone be silenced, regardless of whether I have the headphones plugged in or not?

Is it the web page display that is changing its own position, or is it something

The music I was trying to listen to didn't want to make a sound when I turned it in , I put a pair of headphones in and and it worked as soon as I took it off it completely stopped the music was playing still I could see it in the top column that the play button was on ... Then I made a call an the same thing happened I turned it on speaker and then I could hear them... The sound is completely off even tho i looked at the seettings and put the volume on high noting is sounding on its own not even when i tap the buttons... make sure that your head phones are not attached to the phone then use the volume buttons on the side, if when using them you see a pic of headphones on the screen, then you have some lint in the headphone jack, use some compressed air and blow it out.
If you dont see that then try to reset the phone, hold down the home and power buttons for 20 seconds or untill you see the silver apple.
If you are still having a problem restore the phone and set up as new to see if that clears it up.

Why does my sound say "headphones" when I don't have any headphones in?

I have a iPhone 4 and it's an 8GB phone, and it is updated to iOS 7.0.4. When I move the switch on the side that controls silent or ringer, it shows up on my screen saying "headphones" when I do not have headphones in. So basically I have no sound and only vibrate. But if I were to insert headphones there is sound through my ear piece as it normally should be. I had my phone in my bag and my water bottle in my bag spilt and I'm assuming I have this sound problem because it is water damaged but I'm not completely sure. I don't want to put my phone in rice, which I heard is what you're supposed to do when it is water damaged. But I don't want to because a rice can fit in the whole where you insert your headphones and I wouldn't want to get a rice stuck there. I also turned my phone off for more than 10 seconds just so it can reset, thinking maybe it was a temporary issue that could've been fixed by turning your phone off, but no, it is still broken. So how do I fix this? Is the only solution getting fixed at apple?

Also my speakers do not work. When I receive a notification, message, or call there is no ringer and when I answer a call I cannot hear the other line. So I am pretty sure I water damaged my phone. How do I fix this?
