Silent Install Firefox 29 Windows

I've been scouring the internet for a while looking for a way to do a silent install of Firefox via command-line. As I have come to find out, the -ms and /INI methods only work in much older versions of Firefox.
When I try the -ms silent install, the first half of the install works fine, until it gets to the second half. As it appears, the second half first asks for the admin password (which is doesn't need), then it proceeds with the very visible second half of the install (another click to download and install Firefox and another useless ask for the admin password).
What I think is happening is that the first installer is actually just installing another installer (into the appdata/temp folder) then opening that installer, and deleting it when it's done. This second installer doesn't support the -ms command when run on it's own.
Anyone got any ideas?

Found the answer.
I went in and reported this to bugzilla, and after talking it over with someone, it was revealed that there are no plans to include silent install for the general "stub" based installer. But the silent install ''does'' work if you use the ''full'' installer (which doesn't use the double install process found in the general installer, and can only be downloaded here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ )
The full installer does support regular -ms silent install. To get rid of the admin permission requests, just run it elevated (aka: run as admin).
After this conversation, the mozilla wiki was updated accordingly: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Installer:Command_Line_Arguments

  • How do I install Firefox with Windows 7?

I have Windows 7 and after I downloaded Firefox to my computer and tried to install it a message pops up asking me to log in as administrator or my user name. Since I am the administrator and never set up a password, I try to log in with my user name. Logging in with my user name and password won't work, so I try with the administrator and since I don't know the password, of course that fails also.

downloaded and installed firefox on windows XP, click on firefox icon and nothing happens!

Also to be sure you need at least Windows XP Service Pack 2 if not 3 (XP3) as Firefox since version 13.0 will not work on XP1 or older.

  • Installing Firefox with windows 7 64bit mode just does not work.

I have windows 7 64bit mode. I cannot install firefox, it crashes all the time when I open it. I know the problem is because my windows 7 is in 64bit mode. Can you (firefox support) or someone on this forum provide the simple and easy steps of getting it to work. Also can you (firefox) hurry up and release a 64bit version. I'm using google chrome and crazy browser as they seem to have no problems at all. I really want to use firefox but it just won't set up for me because I'm running win7 64bit mode. If I was running win7 32bit mode I wouldn't be having any issues. Has anyone out there got a simple step by step solution for this? It it mind boggling that with todays technology no one has a simple fix for this issue. Help!!!!!

I have been running Win 7 64 bit on an HP Pavilion lap for several months. The whole browser thing has been a nightmare. My work involves heavy duty internet research. Firefox crashes every few minutes. There is no specific event I can find that kicks this off, but running the latest Flash Players and Adobe Reader makes it a lot worse. In fact, I had to set up the adobe reader to not run within the Firefox window. I had to back off to an old version of adobe Reader and Flash Player to accomplish this. I love Firefox. I was disappointed to have to uninstall it as it was impossible to run searches with it.
So then it proved to be that IE either version 8 or 9 was even worse. I could not keep it up long enough to run a search.
So I installed Chrome which has some nice features, but it also crashes, albeit more gracefully so I do not lose my place and it makes a quick recovery but there are many online applications where Chrome just does not work.
My son also has Win7 64 bit and says he is also having the same problems.
I want my Firefox back! Please fix it.

  • Installed FIrefox on Windows 7 system. At end of installation it would not open. Icon appears on desktop but will not open.

After installing Firefox with the open program box checked, nothing happens other then the screen closing. When I click on the icon to start firefox, it attempts to open but never does.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • How does one install Firefox on Windows 7 for just one user, so separate users can have completely independent Firefox installations?

I'd like to create a new user, and install firefox for that user completely separate in all respects from the existing user's installation, so that there is no interaction at all between the two installations, with separate copies of the program files as well as separate Firefox profiles.

I was asking about how to have multiple Windows user accounts, and how to install Firefox independently for different Windows user accounts.
Firefox does not ask if you want to install it for everyone or just the current user, unlike many programs.
I tried switching to the newly created Windows user account, which was able to use the Firefox installed by the other user account, and installing Firefox, and although there's no indication that it's installing a user specific copy of Firefox, it is. Now the original user account sees it's installation of Firefox and the second user account sees it's installation of Firefox and no longer runs the first users installation of Firefox.
Creating separate Firefox profiles is what I was trying to say I didn't want to do. That's why I mentioned wanting completely separate copies of the program files, not one copy of the program files running two instances simultaneously.

  • Installed Firefox on Windows 7 but the menu and icons bar is full of little horizontal lines over the icons and menu bar..

I installed Firefox 21 on a new Windows 7 OS. The menu bar and the icon bar at the top of the windows is full of little horizontal lines. Sometimes there are more lines and sometime less lines. It makes the icons and the menu items almost impossible to see. So far it's only the Firefox screen that does this. The other programs I installed so far doesn't do this.
    Any ideas?

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • How to install firefox on Windows 7 using Verizon MIS 12200 OTA high speed internet and Internet Explorer?

I have an old PSUS4 and a Samsung ML-2010R.  Both work perfectly so my issues are mostly with getting them to work each time I step up to the next Microsoft OS.  The post by wdboer helped me get my Windows 7 32-bit PC connected to my printer over the LAN and via the PSUS4 so many thanks to wdboer.
    I upgraded to a 64-bit PC with Windows 8 and followed the same instructions and used the Universal Printer Driver downloaded from Samsung but all I got was the printer to 'wake up' but it printed nothing (a direct USB cable connection worked fine).  I finally got the printer to work by;
    1. Windows 8 Control Panel
    2. Device and Printers
    3. Right click on the newly installed printer
    4. Click on the Device Options tab
    5. Selecting the Printer Model drop down and selecting Samsung ML-2010 Series followed by Apply
When I went back to the General Tab and clicked on Print Test Page, the printer woke up and printed the test page
    Cheers, R

  • I can't install firefox on windows 8.1

I was having some issues with a couple of websites last night, so this morning I decided to uninstall firefox. I tried to re-install it and it opens up a small window saying it's being extracted. Then another window opens up and asks how I want to run it, either as the current user or the Administrator. I have tried both and nothing happens. Could someone possibly help me out. please?

Try to run the Firefox installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator).
Note that the Aurora (28.0a2) and Nightly (29.0a1) builds are updated daily and, being alpha releases, can be unstable.
These alpha versions are meant for experienced testers that know how to deal with issues and if you are not then best is to stay with the current release or look at the current beta release to see what the next Firefox version will bring (beta gets an update twice a week).
You should always install such a test version alongside of the current release via a custom install and use a separate profile for each Firefox version.

  • Can i install firefox on Windows 8.1

    Hi there,
I have just had to upgrade and get a new Pc and it has windows 8.1 which is awful.
I only like to use firefox as my browser.
I have tried to install it but it won't work.
I cannot find any up to date information on the web as to whether firefox can be installed with Windows 8.1
    I have a 64 bit operating system.
Is there a way to do this?
Or if not does anyone know if it will be available soon, or i'll have to use chrome which i don't like as much.
I don't have much technical knowledge to do complicated things.
I wonder if it works well on Windows 8 if i try and downgrade.....
Not sure i know how to do that/
    Any help be appreciated.
    thanks

For the Windows part it mentions the minimum for each as for example Windows XP with Service Pack 2 is the minimum as Firefox 13.0 and newer will not work on Windows XP or XP SP1.
So for Windows 8 it means all Windows 8.
