Silent Install HELP

I am trying to do a silent install of Sun Application Server 8.1 on Solaris 8. I am using the Q4 jes installer.
I can install manually, but if I give a state file, the installer wuites without generating any error or creating any logs.
PLEASE HELP!

PSE 10 and Adobe CS6: When running silent install help is not working afterwards

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum. If not: Please help me find the correct one.
I have a big issue with Adobe CS6 (and former versions like Photoshop Elements 10): When installing it from DVD running GUI everything is working fine afterwards. If I install e.g. Photoshop Elements 10 using "Silent Installation" help is not working afterwards. It states that it cannot locate the URL. I have not installed AIR and also do not plan to install it.
I have 'played' a little around with Common Files\Adobe\helpcfg and help directory. Now at least I do not get an error message but still it's not the online help which opens in the browser but the web page that is defined as 'home'.
The same I see now in Adobe CS6. I have e.g. packaged After Effects and Illustrator and when deploying it I'm not able to open help as well and I fear that this is the same issue.
Has anyone deeper knowledge about how "helpcfg" is working? Any example files? Any other help appreciated as well.

@hannilator Have you checked the exceptions folder contents for instructions on how to push to logged off computers? Here's what I get when I package CS6 (DesignWebPrem) and excude AIR/CHC:
After you have deployed the package, separately install the products in the exception folder.
IMPORTANT: Before you install the products in the exception folder, refer to the following Adobe Knowledgebase article for information on installing these products and configuring the settings correctly:

Need Help Automating (Silent Install) and Serializing PSE 12. Installation (Volumn License)

I am trying to automate and serialize a silent installation for PSE 12. I have a volume license for 50 users. The old Silent Install command (PSE 11) no longer works for a silent install (PSE 12). I need this routine to suppress the EULA and any other user interaction required. Additionally I need the installation to NOT require end users to Login using an Adobe Digital ID.
I've attempted to try the "Solution" found here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5945374 . So far I've been unsuccessful. Here are the steps I've taken thus far.
Copied install files to a network drive.
Installed PSE 12 on a local Computer and using the Volumn Serial Number and Registered the program.
Downloaded the latest version of APTEE.
I've ran Ran the following on the registered computer successfully with a return code of 0: adobe_prtk.exe --tool=VolumeSerialize --generate --serial=<<Volume SN>> --leid="V7{}PhotoshopElements-EMT12-Win-GM" --regsupress=ss
The following failed with a return code of 19 and an error messager of Could not find prov.xml: adobe_prtk --tool=VolumeSerialize --provfile="absolute path to prov.xml"

Silent install of Sun Web Server help

I tried to do a silent install of the Sun Web Server and I get the following errors....
while doing /path.../setup -s -f /path..../install.inf
after checking this is the error log I saw...I dont even see a SUNWwbsvr folder created under /opt.

Need help: Silent install of oracle 11g express edition does not install services. As a result, i'm unable to start\launch database

Need help with silent install of Peoplesoft Internet Architecture

I have PT8.49.15 and need to do a silent installation of the web tier on linux. I am supposed to run the $PS_HOME/setup/PsMpPIAInstall/setup.linux which is a Microfocus Installshiled wizard. Any ideas how I can make this a silent installation? I need to automate all of my deployments and have not figured out how to create or pass in a response file to use as input. Is this possible?

Help with Silent Install

Hi
I'm trying to perform a silent install of XE in winXP sp2 and get the same result each time, the installs starts up shows an icon on the taskbar and then exits with resultcode=-3.
I've been through the forums and tried everything possible so far without success.
The normal install works fine and I was able to create a response file which I then attempted to use for the silent install, I also tried the response file on the Oracle site with the same result. Is there anyway to determine at which dialog the installer is failing or is there anything else I can try?

What userid are you using to perform the install?
Because of the way my company manages security on our laptops, I had to create a "local" account on the laptop. Then add that "local" account as part of the Administrators of the laptop. My typical "network" based account would not complete the install EVEN THOUGH THAT "network" account was part of the Administrators group on the laptop.
There is also a feature called RunAs on Windows that allows you to run a scheduled install like the silent one using a different userid from the one you are logged in as.

Problems performing silent install of CR XI Rel 2

We are using the instructions from the installation guide to perform a silent install by running the command
setup.exe ADDLOCAL=ALL EXCLUDEDOTNETFILES=1 EXCLUDEJAVAFILES=1 EXCLUDERDCFILES=1 CLIENTLANGUAGE=EN REBOOT=ReallySuppress PIDKEY=(actualKey) INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Crystal Reports 11.5" /live c:\temp\cr_11.log /qn
The installation runs but fails at the end of the installation when attempting to put the shortcuts in the users or All users Start Menu with the error of MainEngineThread is returning 1603 (when under user ID) or MainEngineThread is returning 1604 (when under All Users). The installation is being run with an administrator access login ID, so access to either area should not be a problem.
The installation is on both Windows 2000 and XP pc's and the win32 directory of the msi installation files have been copied locally to the machine as part of the process to eliminate network lag.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get past this?

How to handle "/9.2.0/root.sh as root from another window" in silent instal

I was successful to start a silent installation of Oracle9iR2 using a responsefile on my System RHEL 3. But the installation ends soon and a wrong successful install message:
Error :*** Alert: A configuration script needs to be run as root before installation can proceed. Please leave this window up, go run /opt/app/oracle/product/9.2.0/root.sh as root from another window, then come back here and click OK to continue. ***
The installation of Oracle9i Database was successful.
I use -ignorePatchConflicts for ignoring the patch conflicts. But How do I handle these issues. Where I have to run root.sh ... etc in teh Non Interactive Install.
I am scripting solution for non interactive install and manual intervention to run these root.sh shell scripts at different points of install is not a good idea as it wont help me automate the install.
Please let me know if anyone has solved this problem with -silent install.

SHOW_ROOTSH_CONFIRMATION=false in the response file. But still no help. The installation exits at run root.sh prompt point. How I can effectively deal with it in a script?

How can I do a silent install of Firefox 23 since the -ms switch doesn't work?

I have been able to do a silent install of all the previous versions of Firefox using the -ms switch. But when I use it on the new version, the user interface comes up and it never did that before. I have tried different silent switches but non of them worked.

Not the most experienced at this but are you using the stub installer, maybe you can try the classic installer and try again?

SAP BPC 7.5 Client, Silent install but with progress bar, can it be done?

I need to uninstall the BPC 7 Client and then deploy 7.5 to around 250 users accross the country.
We have SCCM (SMS) in place so will be using that.
I have the uninstall of 7 sorted and I have the response file etc sorted for the silent install of 7.5 and the install runs, silently, no issue.
Is there a way though that one can "turn on" the progress bar during the install? So that users dont shutdown or disconnect in the 15min it takes the install to run.
By way of example, in the SAP Business objects enterprise client on can configure the Silent install so that although it never prompts the user for a reponse there is a progress bar that runs, indicating that there is an install in progress.

No worries, I am using a pop up countdown so the users have some idea on progress. Would love to know why the install runs for over 15min.
In the above case the uninstall was easy as we had deployed using MS AppV so it was just a case of deleting the advert in SCCM and the application was pulled from the users desktops.
For 7.5 I am using a vbscript with following to uninstall:
The install string pulled from the clients registry uninstall folder:
RunCommand Chr(34) & "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{EC8753EF-EE78-48B5-A4D0-FBBD237B5D53}\setup.exe" & Chr(34) & " -runfromtemp -l0x0009UNINSTALL -removeonly"
We create a custom link, so this deletes it.
DeleteFile "c:\Users\Public\Desktop\SAP BPC 7.5.lnk"
You should be able to create something similar for 7.0 & 7.1

Silent Install of CS3 on Windows 7 64 Bit

Hello!
I am with a School District and need to package CS3 for deployment to a lab. The research that I've found makes it sound very easy using the line
"setup.exe" --mode=silent --deploymentFile="install.xml" --skipProcessCheck=1
and with our 32 bit XP machines it works great, no issues there. We also have machines that are Windows 7 x64 and the same command line does not work at all. With in a minute of execution it kills with exit error code 7.
I've found some other properties to add within the install.xml file
<Property name="INSTALLDIR">C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe</Property>
<Property name="os64Bit">1</Property>
This unfortunately didn't work either. I'm not too surprised since in the log file it shows repeatedly that it is trying to install to program files (x86) anyway.
Can someone that has done the silent install on a 64 bit machine help me out at all (or anyone with any other ideas )??

Firstly i would advice windows 7 as such wont support,there are work arounds to install or mount on it but in long run it causes problems.64-bit is not supported for administration tool.
If it is other OS also admin tool should be installed only on 32-bit .......hope oracle releases it on 64-bit too in short time with only admin tool alone to get installed.
On windows 7 installation you get many blogs or forums to get installed.......Better to install on windows 2003/2008 server which output you better.

Fully automatic silent install of 1.4.2_10

We're using Citrix Webinterface 4.0 with Citrix Java Client for remote access users (working at home). This works fine with Java 1.4.2_10. It does NOT work with MS Java VM or Java 1.5.x. So we need to ensure employees have Java 1.4.2_10 installed at their home pc's. We do not have administrative control over these pc's. Therefore we need to push the Java 1.4.2_10 software from the same webpage as their Citrix Webinterface login.
QUESTION: I would like to create a hyperlink on the Webinterface login page where users can click to FULLY AUTOMATICALLY download and SILENTLY install the Java 1.4.2_10 software (and NOT the Java 1.5.x which is (non-silently) available at http://www.java.com/nl/download/ie_auto.jsp !!!!!)
How can this be accomplished?

Silent Install of Acrobat 9 Pro

I've seen a few questions about installing Acrobat 9 Pro silently on Mac OS X. Maybe someone's already dealt with this, but I thought it might be helpful. Installing Acrobat 9 Pro silently (and across multiple machines) is possible. I have not, however, figured out how to install Acrobat 9 updates silently (I could just be missing some documentation), so if anyone has any clues on this, please let me know. The key to installing Acrobat 9 Pro silently is licensing the application silently. This isn't documented (as far as I can tell), but you can use an application.xml.override file ( as outlined by the CS3 deployment docs: http://www.adobe.com/support/deployment/cs3_deployment.pdf ) to put in the license information. This file goes in "<path to Acrobat 9 Pro app>/Contents/Resources/AMT/". So here's a possible workflow for setting up a silent install: 1) package Acrobat 9 in a .pkg using Package Maker or a similar tool 2) create an application.xml.override file with the following text, replacing "YOUR KEY GOES HERE" with your key: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Configuration> <Payload> <Data key="Serial" protected="0">YOUR KEY GOES HERE</Data> <Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data> <Data key="EULA">Suprress</Data> <Data key="Updates">Suppress</Data> </Payload> </Configuration> 3) write a shell script that installs the .pkg via installer (installer -pkg "Acrobat 9 Pro.pkg" -target /) and copies the application.xml.override to the correct directory (cp application.xml.override "/Applications/Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro/Adobe Acrobat Pro.app/Contents/Resources/AMT/application.xml.override") 4) run the shell script with root privileges (via sudo) and you're done! Again, if anyone has clues on installing updates silently, please share.

It sounds like you are trying to use a retail serial as an enterprise serial and would like to bypass it's restrictions by deactivating it . . . I assume that's not possible, but perhaps I don't understand your issue.
I doubt you'll get a good answer on the forum. Try support, your sales rep, or a help link on the licensing web site (if there is one).

Silent install of Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.6) + Coherence + OEPE

Hi, I'm trying to deploy the Oracle WebLogic Server 11R1 (10.3.6) on multiple computers. So I created a silent.xml file to use in my silent installation. The xml file appears to have the correct syntax. But when I launch the command: oepe-wls-indigo-installer-11.1.1.8.0.201110211138-10.3.6-win32.exe -mode=silent -silent_xml="C:\Temp\silent.xml" -log="C:\Temp\silent-install.log", it crash with these 2 errors.
ERROR [readSilentXML] com.bea.plateng.wizard.installer.common.parsers.TemplateParser - Got an error in parsing template.xml!
ERROR [readSilentXML] com.bea.plateng.wizard.installer.silent.tasks.ReadSilentXMLTask - java.lang.NullPointerException
