Silent install of CS3

I'm trying to run a silent install of CS3 for windows. I've read the Adobe CS3 enterprise deployment PDF and the knowledge base article. Nothing in there works for me. I get exit code 7. Unable to complete the silent workflow.
Has anybody had any luck?
Thanks
Ron

I got the Mac install of design premium to work. It is done the same way as the windows side. I pulled a couple of bonehead moves while testing, but i got it to work. First, be sure to use the mac install and uninstall.xml files. The codes are different from the windows version and you use a different install path. The override file is the same except you need to put in the mac serial number. Be sure to install on a clean machine for testing (no uninstalls or failed installs of anything adobe). Make sure all apps are closed except the terminal.<br />Here are my override and install.xml for the mac.<br /><br />application.xml.override<br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><br /><Configuration><br /><Payload><br /><Data key="Serial" protected="0">xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx</Data><br /><Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data><br /><Data key="EULA">Suppress</Data><br /></Payload><br /></Configuration><br /><br />install.xml<br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><br /><Deployment><br /><Properties><br />   <Property name="installLanguage">en_US</Property><br />   <Property name="INSTALLDIR">/Adobe</Property><br /></Properties><br /><br /><Payloads><br />   <!--Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{AC76BA86-1033-0000-7760-000000000003}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{7005ECBC-F54B-42FD-81E4-934BC43FA329}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe Dreamweaver CS3--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{00E5C764-9525-44C3-8404-712AD06AE12A}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe Flash CS3--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{3BC8460B-085E-47F3-9C62-8FFCBAF11D78}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe Flash Video Encoder--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{7BB7F66A-D798-45A3-A383-0727FB1EBF8E}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe Illustrator CS3--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{C4519961-AC64-4565-B3AF-9050296B5D5A}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe InDesign CS3--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{98A7FC5C-969A-4A54-95D1-F64E5233FED6}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe Photoshop CS3--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{30C4B843-28DA-466F-AFCA-CB0ED153C826}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /><br />   <!--Adobe Version Cue CS3 Server--><br />   <Payload adobeCode="{abd781e6-d5ca-45aa-a5f7-f64799eb1c04}"><br />      <Action>install</Action><br />   </Payload><br /></Payloads><br /></Deployment>

  • Silent Install of CS3 on Windows 7 64 Bit

    Hello!
I am with a School District and need to package CS3 for deployment to a lab.  The research that I've found makes it sound very easy using the line
    "setup.exe" --mode=silent --deploymentFile="install.xml" --skipProcessCheck=1
and with our 32 bit XP machines it works great, no issues there.  We also have machines that are Windows 7 x64 and the same command line does not work at all.  With in a minute of execution it kills with exit error code 7.
I've found some other properties to add within the install.xml file
    <Property name="INSTALLDIR">C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe</Property>
    <Property name="os64Bit">1</Property>
This unfortunately didn't work either.  I'm not too surprised since in the log file it shows repeatedly that it is trying to install to program files (x86) anyway.
Can someone that has done the silent install on a 64 bit machine help me out at all (or anyone with any other ideas )??
    Thanks for any help!!

    Hi skat,
Firstly i would advice windows 7 as such wont support, there are work arounds to install or mount on it but in long run it causes problems.64-bit is not supported for administration tool.
If it is other OS also admin tool should be installed only on 32-bit .......hope oracle releases it on 64-bit too in short time with only admin tool alone to get installed.
On windows 7 installation you get many blogs or forums to get installed.......Better to install on windows 2003/2008 server which output you better.
    hope helps you understand.
    Cheers,
    KK

  • Silent install Adobe CS3 Production Premium Issue

    Hi folks,
I've ran into a problem when trying to roll at CS3 PP onto Windows 7 PCs.
I got instructions on how to do this from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402715.html but I've ran into a snag in that I have been able to generate the install.xml file ok but when the command runs it works away for a wee while then I get: -
End Adobe Setup. Exit code: 7
I'm using the following command string:-
    \\qms03\cip$\AdobeCS3PP\AdobeCS3\setup.exe --mode=silent --deploymentFile=\\qms03\cip$\AdobeCS3PP\AdobeCS3\install.xml
I've had a look around the Internet and can't find a solution this and I wonder has anyone ever came across it before and do you know how I can solve it so I can get the application installed?
Your help would be much appreciated!

  • CS3 Silent Install

I am trying to setup network deployment of CS3 in our office. We are about 60 users and the longest part of setting up a new user is CS 3 Install. I want to get this automated so I can run it as a script with my netinstall.
I have read through the adobe documentaiton which seems to have all the info in it. I have gone through all the steps and have manged to get it to run the install but it alway s errors out with End Adobe Setup.  Exit code: 6. After that error then I am back to square one and every time I try rerun the install I get End Adobe Setup.  Exit code: 7
I have had a browse around the internet and it seem quite a common problem, but all the info I can find relates to windows installs. It seems there is not much diffrance between the windows and mac side in terms of commands to run so I have got as far as I can now.
I have noticed that when i run the install I the installer creates a folder in my /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Installers/ this folder is a seems to be a reandom genrated number and in it, it dumps a setup.app file and some subfolders. It then goes onto to create a folder called /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Installers/R1 which it seem to either move or compile the data from the first folder into.
When this is done the script errors out. I have noticed that setup.app does not show up it's icon correctly and will not run. It's like the file has erred in the copying process.
Has any one had any luck with setting this up and have any ideas on how to fix my issue.
    Thanks

TBH, the biggest problem you are going to face is not the initial installation but the running of all the software patches afterwards. With a disk image of the CS3 disks, install will complete in about 10-15 minutes. Upgrades OTOH may take up to an hour to complete (especially if you forget you're babysitting one) with numerous points where user intervention is required. Also, you need to run the upgrade check from within Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat won't get upgraded.
I had a long treatise on how to make a working CS3 silent install posted on here at one point, but it was apparently misplaced in the recent Forum Fiasco er, Upgrade... Luckily, I took a text clipping of it and saved it. Hopefully it is helpful...
BTW, another way to fix error code 7's... flush the contents of /Library/Applications Support/Adobe/Installers. I had a session in there that I apparently failed to delete correctly resulting in more error 7 misery.
Failing that, the only other way I have been successful in clearing inexplicable error 7's is to do an install using the GUI and then immediately uninstall, again using the GUI. Hopefully that will clear up any lingering weirdness.
And my final problem that caused the other 2-3 hours of failures? Somehow OS X had appended an invisible ".xml" to the end of my application.xml.override filename. (My own damn fault, didn't realize I hadn't disabled the damnable "hide extensions instead of deleting them" feature on this machine.)
FWIW, here's my full successful recipe (in my example I'm only installing IDCS3, btw):
    # Create a folder called CS3 Install at the top level of your startup drive.
    # Copy the entire "Applications" DVD into /CS3 Install/ -- it makes a folder called Adobe CS3 Design Premium with your installer goodies.
    # Create a file in called /CS3 Install/install-idcs3-only.xml duplicated from the template in /CS3\ Install/Adobe\ CS3\ Design\ Premium/deployment/install.xml . Customize as necessary for your particular needs--since I only want IDCS3, I deleted everything except the Creative Suite and InDesign payloads from the list of installables in here.
    # Create /CS3 Install/Adobe CS3 Design Premium/payloads/AdobeDesignSuitePremiumen_US_Volume/application.xml.override from the supplied template in the KB, normalizing all double-quotes, and inserting your serial number with no dashes.
    # Make sure ALL web browsers and IM clients have been quit.
    Finally, in Terminal, run:
    sudo /CS3\ Install/Adobe\ CS3\ Design\ Premium/Setup.app/Contents/MacOS/Setup --mode=silent --deploymentFile="/CS3 Install/install-idcs3-only.xml"
which should exit with Error code 0 (ie, Successful install).

I have done a silent install packages using the instructions in the deployment guide.
It works just fine on Windows Vista to deploy using SCCM 2007.

    It just dont work silently....
    Does anyone know whats wrong?

Hi, this might be a little late, but who knows, for the future reference, this is what solved the problem for me:
Each major application has a file called appname.proxy.xml in their payload folder. At the bottom of the file, simply remove the OS check:

  • Flash CS3 Updates Silent Install

Are there any switches to silently install
flash9_en_us_9_0_2_update.exe? And there is no Control Panel item
to uninstall Flash CS3 9.0.2? When CS3 get's uninstalled it leaves
files that were updated by 9.0.2. Where can I get an uninstaller
    for it?

Okay... I'm becoming extremely upset and impatient with
Adobe. I cannot install this download of the free trial for Flash
if it were to save my life...
I have tried changing permissions to my registry keys,
installing in Safe Mode (the installer didn't allow me to install
in safe mode), installing in VGA mode (which was much harder than I
think installing anything should have been, not being able to see
the buttons to carry on and having to click Tab and hoping u have
selected "Next"), installing it while turning off every single
application except for the Windows ones, running the Adobe CS3
cleanup script, defragmenting my disk, and even trying System
    Restore...
So far nothing has worked... For some reason that installer
window will NOT appear. The progress bar mentioned in my first post
shows up, but after it finishes loading it disappears and I never
see the installation screen, no warning, error message, or
anything. My computer carries on idly...
Please... Some please help me. If you know of something which
I have not tried yet please tell me. There is no way I'm going to
buy Flash if I can't even install the free trial... I might as well
try to get Flash 8 somewhere or maybe even try to find a freeware
program with similar capabilities... I cannot stress how
dissapointed I am right now and I hope no one else has to go
through such hassles during their installations.
    Again, someone, PLEASE help me.
I do not believe the problem is in my computer... I have run
a virus scan and I have nothing infected. I have seen the window
before on the first time I tried to install Flash, but the download
was corrupted and I had to uninstall it... I never saw that window
    again...
Please... help... me... I've lost so much of my time trying
    to install this program...

Hmm. That sounds a rather lame response. Not your fault, of
    course, but
if Adobe gives instructions for silent install, their
    technical support
people should be able to provide you with assistance. I'll

  • Open File - Security Warning with Network-based Silent Install of CS4

I am attempting to run an enterprise deployment of CS4 Design Standard Edition onto a pool of WinXP Pro workstations. I placed all of the install files on a networked server running Windows 2003, and generated from there all of the requisite .xml files (install, uninstall, and override files). From this network share, I can successfully run a silent install.
HOWEVER. Multiple times (two or three) during the course of the silent install, I receive the same pop-up security warning from Windows XP (definitely an OS message, not anti-virus or other) that reads as follows:
    Open File - Security Warning
Do you want to run this file?
    Name: AIRApplicationRunner.exe
    Publisher: Adobe Systems Incorporated
    Type: Application
    From: (server IP address)
I have tried excluding Adobe Air from the installation package, but I still receive the same security prompt. This is sufficiently a hassle to have to click through these prompts in a silent install. But more importantly I am unable to run the silent install as part of a logoff script because for all intents & purposes it is no longer a silent install (i.e. it requires user intervention). To top it off, I found when testing the logoff script the prompts are suppressed and the installation fails prior to the bulk of the installation (Photoshop, Illustrator, & InDesign).
I'm sure that I could run the install by copying all of the files to each local workstation, but again that would defeat the purpose of an easy, network-based install. In the past I was able to install CS3 in this fashion with no troubles, which of course did not include Adobe Air.
Can anybody offer a suggestion as to how to disable these security messages, or alternately, how to entirely exclude Adobe Air from the install package? I have found a VB script that is supposed to address the security warnings issue, but to run the script also requires the user to accept it at a security prompt.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!
    -Dan

I'm now able to deploy design suite premium cs4 successfully.
The issue for me was that the AirapplicationRunner installs some useless software. I worked around the issue with the Airapplicationrunner prompt by removing any apps that are installed using that method. By "removing" I mean marking that app as "donotinstall" in the deployment file. The apps I removed are these adobe codes for adobe media player, adobe.com, adobeair itself. The below is from my deploy.xml file used for the silent workflow:
    donotinstall
    donotinstall
    donotinstall
If you mark those three adobe codes as "donotinstall" the prompt never appears and the real apps get installed just fine.

  • Silent Install of Acrobat 9 Pro

I've seen a few questions about installing Acrobat 9 Pro silently on Mac OS X. Maybe someone's already dealt with this, but I thought it might be helpful. Installing Acrobat 9 Pro silently (and across multiple machines) is possible. I have not, however, figured out how to install Acrobat 9 updates silently (I could just be missing some documentation), so if anyone has any clues on this, please let me know.<br /><br />The key to installing Acrobat 9 Pro silently is licensing the application silently. This isn't documented (as far as I can tell), but you can use an application.xml.override file ( as outlined by the CS3 deployment docs: http://www.adobe.com/support/deployment/cs3_deployment.pdf ) to put in the license information. This file goes in "<path to Acrobat 9 Pro app>/Contents/Resources/AMT/".<br /><br />So here's a possible workflow for setting up a silent install:<br />1) package Acrobat 9 in a .pkg using Package Maker or a similar tool<br />2) create an application.xml.override file with the following text, replacing "YOUR KEY GOES HERE" with your key:<br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><br /><Configuration><br /><Payload><br />     <Data key="Serial" protected="0">YOUR KEY GOES HERE</Data><br />     <Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data><br />     <Data key="EULA">Suprress</Data><br />     <Data key="Updates">Suppress</Data><br /></Payload><br /></Configuration><br /><br />3) write a shell script that installs the .pkg via installer (installer -pkg "Acrobat 9 Pro.pkg" -target /) and copies the application.xml.override to the correct directory (cp application.xml.override "/Applications/Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro/Adobe Acrobat Pro.app/Contents/Resources/AMT/application.xml.override")<br />4) run the shell script with root privileges (via sudo) and you're done!<br /><br />Again, if anyone has clues on installing updates silently, please share.

It sounds like you are trying to use a retail serial as an enterprise serial and would like to bypass it's restrictions by deactivating it . . . I assume that's not possible, but perhaps I don't understand your issue.
I doubt you'll get a good answer on the forum. Try support, your sales rep, or a help link on the licensing web site (if there is one).

  • CS4 Design Standard Silent Install does not work

I've concluded CS4 Design Standard silent install for Macs does not work correctly. I've got the program to install sucessfully with an Exit Code: 0 and the programs still do not work. The whole suite says the licensing has stopped working. I've tried the License Repair utility from Adobe, no go. It looks like the program does not fully install. I noticed within each application directory, it should have an Uninstall application when installed correctly. When this application isn't there, which occurs with silent installs, the whole suite doesn't work.
Its funny how Adobe wont help me with "enterprise installations". I haven't tried the Creative Suite Deployment Toolkit but I've read other threads where that doesn't work either.
If someone would like to prove me wrong about the silent installs for CS4, please do so. I've gotten CS3 to install perfectly, and the setup is very similar for both.

    Jimmy,
As one of the volunteer Forum Hosts, I've requested appropriate help.
You can also get help via the support portal: http://www.adobe.com/go/supportportal
Or via the phone: 800-642-3623, Monday-Friday 6am-5pm (Pacific time). BTW, the enterprise number you post isnt a valid number for support.
Your email address (from your account info) was used to log a CCRT to get Tier 2 to email you, given that you've already tried tier 1 with no solution.
Please post back and let us know how this works out for you. Thanks!

  • Silent install\uninstall of Photoshop CS4

Can Photoshop CS4 be silently installed\uninstalled without the source files for 64bit?
Since Photoshop CS4 is 3 times the size of CS3 I would like to know if CS4 can be silently installed\uninstalled without using the payloads for the 64bit versions.

Yes , you can silently Install/Uninstall Photoshop CS4 but if you have 64 bit machine then you dont have option to not install 64 bit Photoshop version. However you have option of not installing 32 bit payload but then some of your plugins which are solely 32 bit may not run on 64 bit.

  • Silent Install of Adobe Lightroom 2

    Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone knew the method to silently install lightroom 2 and have the serial # inputed automatically. I know how to do it with cs3 but dont know the method for lightroom. any help is always appreciated

In the corporate environment, the term "silent install" is used to describe a way to install an application without any user interaction and perhaps invisibly, where the options are all specified in command-line parameters and/or via a file that setup is told to look in. This is typically so a network administrator can control the install options and is more normal for applications that use a central server or have standard locations for things.
In a corporate network, it seems that Lightroom would not typically be a standard-install item for every desktop like an e-mail or word-processing application might be, nor is it a client-server application that needs a central server to talk to, so the necessity of a silent install option isn't obvious; although it could be used to control the library location so that it was in a user's home directory to make sure it got backed up.

I don't think so. That would require an actual package for the OS installer to handle and as you can see that's not what the update installer is.
