Silent Install of Photoshop 11.0.2 patch

I have downloaded the Photoshop 11.0.2 patch, but I can't find any documentation on the syntax for installing the software silently and without a reboot.  Does anyone know this syntax?  We need to deploy this software to 2000+ machines, so obviously manual installations are not an option...
Thanks in advance for the help!!

That's one of Murphy's prime laws as applies to forum posting.  I wrote that up around here somewhere a while back.
Thanks for listing the solution.

  • Silent install of Photoshop Elements 10 via SCCM fails

Hi all, hoping someone can help. I'm trying to push out deployment of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 via SCCM. From Adobe's site I found details on adding an XML file to preconfigure various default settings and perform a silent install.  I can push out
the package to my test PC's cache folder no problem, but the advertisement fails with "Failed (bad environment)" message ID 10003. The system cannot find the file specified."
However, I can install the program manually, running the same code from the command line. So, on my test PC, if I go to c:\windows\system32\cache\(package) from the command line, I can type the following "start /wait Setup.exe /UL1033 /V"SERIALNUMBER=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx"
(as per Adobe's instructions) and Photoshop Elements 10 will silently install just fine.
I've read elsewhere that SCCM can have issues with server paths and making use of the %~dp0 variable but I'm unsure if that applies here. In SCCM, in the program properties for PE10, the drive mode is set to "Runs with UNC name." I tried changing to 'requires
drive letter" but it still failed. I'm guessing I'm dealing with some sort of environment issue but I'm stuck as to how to fix. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sir_Timbit

I used "start /wait" as that was what was listed on Adobe's silent install instructions at http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/silent-install-instructions-photoshop-elements-1.html
Again, it installs fine manually, *if* I point a command prompt to c:\windows\system32\ccm\cache\(cache folder)\ and run the start /wait setup.exe line below. But through SCCM, the advertisement report shows:
    Message ID:10003. Failed (bad environment)
An error occurred while preparing to run the program for advertisement "ABC20074" ("ABC00041" - "Install Photoshop Elements 10"). The operating system reported error -2147024894: The system cannot find the file specified. Additional program properties: Command

drive letter connection to a distribution point could not be established, or when the program is configured to use the SMS Software Installation Account but the account is not specified, could not be found, or does not have the appropriate permissions. Solution:
Check each of the items listed above.

  • Photoshop Elements 11 Silent install not that silent

    Hi,
After following the Silent Install Instructions here http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/silent-install-instructions-photoshop-element s-1.html it still is not fully silent.
As mentioned in the KB article you need to create a application.xml.override file that is said to supress the Eula but it still shows up.
The actual install of the software is silent but on first start it shows the ElementsOrganizer EULA then makes you select a Country/Region and then shows the Photoshop Elements 11 EULA.
Is there any way that we can supress both of the EULA's and automatically mark Australia as the Country/Region??

    @99jon,
That did help out alot. In the end I added Country=12 on to the end of my install command which is the country code for Australia.
I also added in another line in to both of the application.xml.override file which supressed the EULA's
         <Data key="EULA">Suppress</Data>
I also used this method for a silent uninstall which might help other users
    Uninstall PSE-10 in silent mode
Open the command prompt in the administrator mode.
(Windows XP) Choose Start > Run. Enter cmd in the Run window, and press OK.
(Windows 7 and Windows XP) Click Start (Windows-Logo), and type "cmd". Press [Shift]+[CTRL]+[ENTER].
Run the following command to uninstall Photoshop Elements.Verify that the Photoshop Elements 10 folder has been removed from the Program Files folder after running the command.
      start /wait Msiexec /x { EE549AF9-8FAA-4584-83B2-ECF1BC9DC1FF} NOT_STANDALONE=1 /qn
After the uninstallation is complete, run the following command to uninstall Elements Organizer. Verify that the Elements 10 Organizer folder has been removed from the Program Files folder after running the command.
    start /wait Msiexec /x {22D3A614-482C-444A-932C-9DA1B8ECDFD2} NOT_STANDALONE=1 /qn
After Elements Organizer has been uninstalled, run the following commands to uninstall STIs (ACR, APE, ESTK). The following procedure assumes that you are using the C drive as your boot drive. Modify the command accordingly if you are using a different drive.
      cd "Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\DWA"
    setup.exe --mode=silent --deploymentFile="C:\Program Files\Common Files\
    Adobe\Elements10STIForPSE\ElementsSTIInstaller.remove.xml"
    Finally, run the following command:
    rmdir /s "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Elements10STIForPSE"

  • Silent install\uninstall of Photoshop CS4

Can Photoshop CS4 be silently installed\uninstalled without the source files for 64bit?
Since Photoshop CS4 is 3 times the size of CS3 I would like to know if CS4 can be silently installed\uninstalled without using the payloads for the 64bit versions.

Yes , you can silently Install/Uninstall Photoshop CS4 but if you have 64 bit machine then you dont have option to not install 64 bit Photoshop version. However you have option of not installing 32 bit payload but then some of your plugins which are solely 32 bit may not run on 64 bit.

  • Error in the instructions for performing a silent install

There's an error in the instructions for performing a silent install of Photoshop Elements:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/silent-install-instructions-photoshop-element s-1.html
In step 9, the instructions say to use the following command line:
    start /wait "path to Setup.exe" /UL%LangCode% /V“SERIALNUMBER=%AOO volume license serial number%"
The correct command line, however, is this:
    start /wait "path to Setup.exe" /UL%LangCode% /V"SERIALNUMBER=%AOO volume license serial number%"
See the difference? Look closely at the character after the /V. In the instructions on the website, they put in a "curly quote" character. This obviously needs to be a straight quote.
Interestingly enough, the erroneous command line from the web site will actually work just fine as posted if all you are passing in the /V is the serial number. If, however, you wanted to add a "NODESKTOPICON=1" to disable the creation of a desktop shortcut, for example:
    start /wait "path to Setup.exe" /UL%LangCode% /V“SERIALNUMBER=%AOO volume license serial number% NODESKTOPICON=1"
then it fails to run silently.
I post this in the hopes that Adobe will fix the typo in their instructions and save other admins the hours of grief I've been put through today trying to get this working.

Check the response file where you define the SGA memory size for the new database.
You can also choose not to create the database at the installation and do it afterwards, making a specific response file for it. (I'd recommend specially this option. like that you can separate possible installation errors with the ones on the DB creation process).
    Good luck.

  • Incorrect desktop shortcut with Elements 11 silent install

    Hello all,
I'm attempting a silent install of Photoshop Elements 11 following the instructions from http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/silent-install-instructions-photoshop-element s-1.html .  The install works however it is placing a shortcut to the Organizer rather than Elements on the desktop.  I am not installing the organizer so the shortcut will not work.  Does anyone know of a method to have the silent install add the elements shortcut rather than the organizer?  Thanks!

Can't you create your own desktop shortcut by dragging the executable to the desktop, then assign it a name and an icon (if it doesn't pull in its own)?

  • Silent install of 10.1.0 (MUI) Reader and patches leaves teh previous Version in Add remove prog

    Hello,
having major issues with a silent install to 3300 users.
I Have a vb script that runs in SCCM to install reader 10.1.0 (MUI) and the increnetal patches for 10.1.1 and 10.1.2 both MUI.  I have created a transform to not use a desktop icon, turn on protect mode and supress the eula.  3 problems.
    1.  The script searches for old versions and completly install the mui version over all with the following command line:
    "AcroRead.msi TRANSFORMS=AcroRead.mst PATCH="AdbeRdrUpd1011_MUI.msp; AdbeRdrUpd1012_MUI.msp" ALLUSERS=1 LANG_ID=1033 PRODUCTLANGUAGE=1033 LEAVE_PDFOWNERSHIP=YES REMOVE_PREVIOUS=YES EULA_ACCEPT=YES SUPPRESS_APP_LAUNCH=YES /qn /norestart /LOG c:\progra~1\Adobe\AdobeReader10.1.2.log"
    Setup.ini file reads:

Problems on about 100 computers so far:
    1.  If the system had 10.1.1  and not the 10.1.1 MUI and 10.1.2 MUI stay in Add Remove Programs
    2. Systems that get the full uninstall and reinstall  even if adobe is closed and browser is closed and user can not read files from the web or email after the complete install to 10.1.2 mui.  Adobe works locally.
    3.  Some systems appear to upgrade fine.
    HELP PLEASE!!!!

With Administrative Installation Points I've always found it best to remove the old version first with a script using [msiexec.exe /x {APPLICATION_GUID} ] before installing the new AIP.  You should read the documentation about 10.x AIP though.

  • Photoshop elements 9.0 silent install - not working

hi everyone, I hope I could find an answer to my problem here:
I have a volume licence for adobe photoshop elements 9.0, and I'm trying to install it silently (no dialog box) on several computers.
I've read the documentation here:http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/861/cpsid_86149.html and understood it (I think)
    ok here are the problems:
    when I use the command Start/wait C:\"Adobe Photoshop Elements 9"\Setup.exe /UL1036 /V"SERIALNUMBER=1111-1111-1111-1111-1111-1111"
(or whatever is my path, it's correct, no space, quote are ok etc...)
it's not silent at all, every step is prompted.
    here is my application.oxml.override file
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Configuration>
    <Payload>
    <Data key="EULADelay">0</Data>
    <Data key="EULA">Suppress</Data>
    <Data key="Updates">Suppress</Data>
    <Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data>
    </Payload>
    </Configuration>
So I tried to modify the setup.ini file, with more success as the installation complete, but the folder "Elements 9 Organizer" does not exist, therefore the shortcut for pse9  targets an inexisting application.
But if I start the photoshopelementsEditor.exe that works (except of course that I cannot start the organizer.

Ok so i'm a little bit desesperate here (I even tried to edit the .msi with orca to launch it directly without going throught the setup.exe, but with no luck...)
so if anyone has any idea please please please let me know!
    thanks!

    Hi there,
Sorry for the late reply. Somehow, never got to see this thread before.
    So, let us begin.
There are multiple points I would like to add here...
1.In the command line mentioned below, I think you should have a space between Start and /wait.
    Start/wait C:\"Adobe Photoshop Elements 9"\Setup.exe /UL1036 /V"SERIALNUMBER=1111-1111-1111-1111-1111-1111"
    2. The name of the override file should be application.xml.override with no extension in the end. You mentioned it as application.oxml.override, may be thats just a typo.
    3. In the override file, you have specified both EULADelay as 0 and EULA suppress, EULADelay as 0 is used to show the EULA to the end users, while EULA suppress is used to suppress the EULA. So, you should just have one of these entries depending on what you want to achieve..
    4. One you use the correct silent install command as mentioned above, you should NOT edit the Setup.ini file to change the EnableLangDlg, Default, Commandline2,  SERIALNUMBER= keys of the override as that will be automatically be taken care of the command line to install PSE in french locale based on the UL key. So, I recommend changing them back to the original values.
    5. Please please please....DO NOT EDIT the .msi file directly through Orca because once you have edited it, you are on your own and there wouldnt be anything we can do from here to support your issue further.
So, based on these comments, can you please try to install PSE again in silent mode and see if it works fine now??
Yeah, in case there is a broken installation (just editor) already present on your machine, then please remove it by following the below article.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/859/cpsid_85966.html
Last, seems like you are using a volume licensing serial number to deploy PSE on multiple machines, so for the enterprise customers, there is a dedicated support team, please contact them for getting clear directions and for troubleshooting steps. They should be help you further..
    Best,
    Ankush

  • Photoshop Elements silent install trouble.

    Hi there..
Im trying to deploy Photoshop and Premier Elements 9 accross a few of our highschools silently through Zenworks.. For whatever reason I cant get the silent install to work for these products.
Im using the instructions found here. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/861/cpsid_86149.html
    Im running the command
    Start/wait c:\"Adobe Photoshop Elements 9\PSE 9"\Setup.exe /UL1033 /V“SERIALNUMBER=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx”
    application.xml.override is
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Configuration> <Payload> <Data key="EULADelay">0</Data> <Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data> <Data key="Updates">Suppress</Data>
    </Payload> </Configuration>
My goal is a compleatly silent install and not to present the user with an EULA at all..
The install seems to start for a moment and then returns.
    Exit Code: 1
    Any help is greatly appreceated.

    Hi,
As 99job suggested, the first and foremost thing which I will suggest as well is to contact the Enterprise/Education channel support. That will yield a dedication support and troubleshooting of the issue.
One thing..you mentioned that you want to suppress the EULA for all the users, in that case instead of value specified as 0, you need to mention "Suppress" same as what is specified for updates and registration.

  • Silent install instructions for Photoshop Elements 8 (AOO volume license version on Windows)

    Hello,
Does anyone know if the silent installation of Photoshop Elements 8 works the same way the versions 6/7 work? I can't find any article in the support site that states that is does...
Thanks in advance for answering this question.
    Joost Brenters

Since in the silent install EULA is never accepted and user has not specified any country value, hence I don't believe you will be able to get away from seeing these two dialogs. For registration dialog, there is a way to suppress it during silent install.
You can send a private message to Aanchal and hopefully, she will get back to you with more information.
You are correct, silent install instructions for PSE 7 wont work for PSE 8.

  • Silent install and activation of 50x copies of PhotoShop Elements 12 TLP

I am trying to deploy a 50-user TLP licence of PSE12 to 50 PCs without having to visit each PC, as was possible with previous versions.
I have the silent install completing without error but the product is not activated, and needs me to sign in with an Adobe ID on each PC. Even once per PC, this is not acceptable for a network install.
Also I note that end users can Sign Out of the Adobe ID thereby deactivatingthe software for all users of the PC, until I revisit and sign in again. And no, we are not going to give all users the Adobe ID credentials. Even before events of the past week
The PSE12 install logs shows "Override files does not exist . Overwrite the value of Override dir to be a blank string" - it is not finding application.xml.override, even though the file is definitely accessible in the right places and is in UTF-8 format.
(In addition, therefore, updates are not suppressed.)
My hunch is that the application.xml.override mechanism has been removed from PSE12 because of the new Adobe ID sign-in requirement?
I'm aware that AMEE is not application to PSE deployment.
I'd be grateful for assistance on this.
    Regards
    William

    Hello!
I did all required steps, as you mentioned above to serialize Adobe Elements 12, but it was not successfull. I had an return code=14 in oobelib.log.
    What I did:
    1) Installed "Adobe Photoshop Elements 12" on the machine
    2) It has been successfully installed.
    3) I opened "Command-line" cmd.exe as administrator (I have an administrative privileges on that machine)
    4) Run following command:
    adobe_prtk.exe --tool=VolumeSerialize --generate --serial="my_serial_number" --leid="V7{}PhotoshopElements-EMT12-Win-GM" --regsuppress=ss
where my_serial_number is my actually serial number with dashes.
    5) After few seconds I got following:
              Copyright 2012 Adobe Systems Incorporated
            All rights reserved.
    Return Code = 14
    6) oobelib.log says following:

  • Silent install for patch release 3 waiting for carriage return

I'm trying to get Patch Release 3 (to take my 10.2.0.1.0 installtion to 10.2.0.4.0 on Linux RHEL 5/x64) to install using a ResponseFile so it can be scriptable.
The actual silent install works fine - the problem lies with the patch install - it waits for the carriage return to be pressed oce it has been installed. And since its waiting for the Return key to be pressed, the script hangs.
    The command I'm running is
    +/oracle/staging/10g/patch/Disk1/runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs -silent -responseFile /oracle/staging/10g/patch.rsp << EOF+
    EOF
I'm not even sure where to start looking to solve this issue.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please...

    Hi;
Did you follow patch 8.2 Installing the Oracle Database 10g Patch Set Noninteractively part?
    Also see:
