Silent Install Removes Browser Integration

Hello, I'm having an issue when silently deploying new versions of Java to computers in my domain (all Win7 x64). When it's deployed, Java does not prompt the user to close any open browser windows like you would see if you ran the installer manually. This causes Java to be updated, but all browser integration is lost. The only way I've found to fix this is by manually closing all browsers and repairing Java, which is a pain to do for 150 users. Is there a switch to update Java at the next logon when silently installing (like you can do if you manually install)? Also, a static installation is not an option because it leaves vulnerable files on the computer.

go to tools\internet options\advanced\java vm etc.in IE
and check out the check boxes as appropriate may be it helps u

  • Hotkey Integrations is silent install even possible?

    So I've been struggling with this for a few days.
    When deploying new computers. along with 20 other applications
    I aim to install 'Hotkey Integrations' both for t61, t500, t520, x230 and x240..
    I use SCCM 2012.
    now the problem is attempting to unattend/silently install lenovo hotkey integration fails.
    cause its not really a silent install.. unlike all the other applications, despite the fact you tell it to be silent
    it still shows a few popups during the progress
    to deploy the application
    I use this parameter "setup.exe /s -sms"
    I've also attempted with "%~dp0SETUP.EXE /S"
    They share the fact that they work perfectly, when I run the installation manually, or simply deploy directly to a computer. it popsup, shows the install window, and installs correctly.
    but the very fact it popsup is probably also what kills the task sequence.
    The fact is my 19 other applications work like a charm when I don't include the hotkey integration install
    and the logs tell me afterwards that the hotkey failed.
    anyone heard about this perhaps?

    Hello,
    having major issues with a silent install to 3300 users.
    I Have a vb script that runs in SCCM to install reader 10.1.0 (MUI) and the increnetal patches for 10.1.1 and 10.1.2 both MUI.  I have created a transform to not use a desktop icon, turn on protect mode and supress the eula.  3 problems.
    1.  The script searches for old versions and completly install the mui version over all with the following command line:

    Problems on about 100 computers so far:
    1.  If the system had 10.1.1  and not the 10.1.1 MUI and 10.1.2 MUI stay in Add Remove Programs
    2. Systems that get the full uninstall and reinstall  even if adobe is closed and browser is closed and user can not read files from the web or email after the complete install to 10.1.2 mui.  Adobe works locally.
    3.  Some systems appear to upgrade fine.
    HELP PLEASE!!!!

    With Administrative Installation Points I've always found it best to remove the old version first with a script using [msiexec.exe /x {APPLICATION_GUID} ] before installing the new AIP.  You should read the documentation about 10.x AIP though.

  • How to silently install and set default settings

    I need to deploy FireFox 16.0.2 to a bunch of Windows computers and set some default settings. Is there a good article that can walk me through it?
    I also need to set the home page, have it not check for the default browser, and disable updates. The -ms option does silently install FireFox so I guess I just need to know how to configure FireFox for our environment and push out those settings with the install.
    I have versions ranging from 1 to 15. Do those old versions need to be removed first or can 16.0.2 be installed over what is already there? Is there an uninstall switch for this so that I can create a package to remove it?

    hello jmoody76 - you can manage central settings with the mozilla.cfg file in the firefox program folder. this article gives some guidance on how to implement that: [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences]
    i think it may work to just install the new versions on top of the older ones (though i'm not sure if this has any unintended side effects on those very old installations) or according to https://wiki.mozilla.org/Installer:Command_Line_Arguments it's possible to run a silent uninstall through the setup executable by /S.

  • Open File - Security Warning with Network-based Silent Install of CS4

    I am attempting to run an enterprise deployment of CS4 Design Standard Edition onto a pool of WinXP Pro workstations. I placed all of the install files on a networked server running Windows 2003, and generated from there all of the requisite .xml files (install, uninstall, and override files). From this network share, I can successfully run a silent install.
    HOWEVER. Multiple times (two or three) during the course of the silent install, I receive the same pop-up security warning from Windows XP (definitely an OS message, not anti-virus or other) that reads as follows:
    Open File - Security Warning
    Do you want to run this file?
    Name: AIRApplicationRunner.exe
    Publisher: Adobe Systems Incorporated
    Type: Application
    From: (server IP address)
    I have tried excluding Adobe Air from the installation package, but I still receive the same security prompt. This is sufficiently a hassle to have to click through these prompts in a silent install. But more importantly I am unable to run the silent install as part of a logoff script because for all intents & purposes it is no longer a silent install (i.e. it requires user intervention). To top it off, I found when testing the logoff script the prompts are suppressed and the installation fails prior to the bulk of the installation (Photoshop, Illustrator, & InDesign).
    I'm sure that I could run the install by copying all of the files to each local workstation, but again that would defeat the purpose of an easy, network-based install. In the past I was able to install CS3 in this fashion with no troubles, which of course did not include Adobe Air.
    Can anybody offer a suggestion as to how to disable these security messages, or alternately, how to entirely exclude Adobe Air from the install package? I have found a VB script that is supposed to address the security warnings issue, but to run the script also requires the user to accept it at a security prompt.
    Thanks in advance for any assistance!
    -Dan

    I'm now able to deploy design suite premium cs4 successfully.
    The issue for me was that the AirapplicationRunner installs some useless software. I worked around the issue with the Airapplicationrunner prompt by removing any apps that are installed using that method. By "removing" I mean marking that app as "donotinstall" in the deployment file. The apps I removed are these adobe codes for adobe media player, adobe.com, adobeair itself. The below is from my deploy.xml file used for the silent workflow:
    donotinstall
    donotinstall
    donotinstall
    If you mark those three adobe codes as "donotinstall" the prompt never appears and the real apps get installed just fine.

    Hello,
    I posted this over on the database forum too. I'm trying to create a silent install for an AS 10.1.2.0.2 infrastructure database. Do you already have an AS running on this machine? If you're doing a reinstall, did you remove the inventory and all appropiate registry settings?

  • Installer silent install - modify Setup config

    Hi all,
    Using LV 2009.  Built installer which includes my own licence agreement.
    Upon installation by the user my own licence agreement (not NI's) is all I want them to see, then my application and LV run-time should install (silently).
    Can I achieve this merely by modifying the setup.ini in the Installer folder?  The following seems to work:
    [Dialogs]
    UserInfo=0
    FeatureInfo1=0
    SingleDirectory=0
    InstallationType=0
    FeatureTree=0
    License=1
    License2=0
    NICertificate=0
    ConfirmStart=0
    End=1
    Does anyone envisage any problems with doing this?  I cannot test because I cannot uninstall the LV RTE (anybody know how to do this?).
    There is another entry at the very bottom of the setup.ini file which I've set to 0 (not sure if it does anything:
    [SilentInstallRequirements]
    MustAcceptLicenses=0
    In the past I've read a lot about SPEC files and command line entries to achieve silent install.  If I can do it by changing the setup.ini then why would I bother with a SPEC file?
    Your insight is appreciated.  Happy Christmas!
    Battler.

    battler.,
    I was unable to find public documentation as to what those entries in the ini file actually do.As of LabVIEW 8.0, the Run-Time Engine does not give you an option to manually uninstall. This is because other NI applications (Signal Express, Example Finer, etc.) rely on these RTE and will break if the component is removed. If you uninstall all the dependent software, the Run-Time Engine should uninstall itself. Also, if you manually install the RTE, and there are no dependent applications also installed on the computer, it will show up in the Add/Remove Programs list. Knowing this, I think the easiest way totest your installer is to find a machine with no NI software. Once you run your installer, you should be able to explicitly remove the LV RTE as long as no other NI software was installed.
    Also, I did find this KnowledgeBase that shows how to install the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine without any prompts for the user. It is related to using the command line entries you mentioned.
    Hope this helps, happy holidays!

  • Did Adobe Acrobat/reader stop providing browser integrated PDF viewing(addin) for Internet Explorer?

    Did Adobe acrobat and reader stop providing browser integrated PDF viewing capability for Internet Explorer?
    Hi, I have been trying to view PDF's directly on my browser (Internet Explorer 9). We used to be able to have this available. To be honest last configuration that did work was Internet Explorer 8 with Adobe Acrobat 7. But I recently tried with Intenet Explorer 9 with Adobe Acrobat X and did not work as expected (I tried to activate the add in for Adobe but the adobe addin for PDF did not show up) I have the following questions:
    1) Do you still provide PDF's viewing capabilties on Internet Explorer?
    2) If yes: Is there a propper Add-in we (users) are able to install for Internet Explorer?
    3) if yes: Do we require to have Adobe Acrobat to have this capability? (this was my experience with IE8 and Adobe Acrobat 7)
    Additional Info:
    There seems to be an addin for Chrome wich works as expected (opens PDF in browser) to this current date. This does not happen on IE.
    Thanks in advance.
    AlbertCastle

    Are you using the 64-bit edition of Internet Explorer?
    The Adobe Reader/Acrobat plugin is 32-bit, and will not work on a 64-bit browser.

  • ZFH5.1 Proxy SILENT Install

    Hello everyone,
    I'm trying to get a silent install setup for the proxy clients and I
    just
    can't seem to get it to work. I've read through the admin guide,
    following
    it to the letter, but it doesn't seem to work silently.
    It created the setup.iss file, as well as modified the proxy.ini. I
    copied
    these to the central install directory for the proxy client. I'm
    using
    ZFD3.2 to deliver the software....I add the "-s" switch in the
    application
    parameters. When I click the icon, it appears to do something but it
    never
    installs. The application log files show distribution success, but no
    files
    are ever dropped down. If I remove the s switch, it will execute theinstall program just fine, but it's obviously not silent and I need to
    go
    through every step again.
    I also copied the central install directory to the local machine and
    executed setup.exe -s locally, and that doesn't work either.
    Any ideas I can try??
    TIA,
    Ryan Van Thiel

    Thanks a lot Dave, that was a big help. It took me a little bit
    before I figured out that it was writing a log file to the network actually.
    But adding the f2 switch easily resolved this. The parameters just
    read as
    "-s -f2c:\zfhproxy.log"
    Thanks again,
    Ryan
    "David W Kegel" <[email protected]> wrote in message news:[email protected]...
    Hi Ryan,
    When using the -S switch, InstallShield writes a setup.log file in
    the directory you are installing from. The process that has spawned InstallShield needs rights to create a file. As an alternative, you
    can use the "-f2[path\log file name]" option to have the log file written
    in a different location, one you know the process will have write rights
    in. This is a common problem. It comes up when users try doing a silent install off of a CD as well.
    I hope this helps.

    Ok, I think I have it figured out, but I have NO idea why this is
    the case.
    I'm hoping someone can explain it to me, I don't see anything in the
    admin
    guide.
    I must have messed up the local install the first time, because I =tried
    again, and it actually worked. So if I execute setup.exe -s from a
    local
    install directory, it works. However, it still wasn't working via
    NAL or
    the centralized network directory. It ended up being file rights to
    the
    centralized install directory. With read-only rights, it doesn't =work. If
    I gave the user full rights to the install directory, the silent install
    works just fine. What could it possibly be writing to the install
    directory? Is this really the way it's supposed to work? Any light
    someone
    can shed on this would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ryan

  • PKG can't silent install on Mac Os 10.5

    I have made an Installer by PackageMaler3.0.6 on Mac OS 10.8. Also I have add a JavaScript function in Distribution,This function use for detect the certain App is running or not. Some code like this:
    var allProcess = new Array();
    allProcess = system.applications.all();
    var allProcessCount = allProcess.length;
    If I normally install (With Installer UI) this pkg on 10.8,10.7,10.5, it's Ok, all function works fine. If i use command line to silent install On 10.8,10.7 it's OK, no error. But if i silent install on 10.5.8, there will be an error in terminal(JavaScript error), can't install. If i remove the code of "var allProcessCount = allProcess.length;"  It can silent install on 10.5.8, once  if added the code like "allProcess.length" ,there will be an error,it looks like can't use the  array property in silent install on 10.5, but 10.7,10.8 it's OK and install with UI it's also Ok on 10.5. Did anyone knows how can i slove this issue? Thanks!!!

  • I need to silently install the latest Mozilla firefox on Win7 machines, I do not see any .msi available and the /S or -S commands on the setup.exe installer does not work. Does someone know what can I do?

    I need the silent install of firefox for image deployment.

    For windows 7, you can use the -ms switch. For example, I have a batch file that works great. It contains the following:
    @ECHO.
    @Echo Installing Firefox
    @start /wait "Firefox Setup 3.6.10.exe" -ms
    However this does not seem to work well in windows XP. To get it to work in windows XP, I had to remove the spaces from the firefox installer and run the following command:
    @start /wait FirefoxSetup3.6.10.exe -ms
    If anyone has an easier way to get silent install working under XP (without renaming the firefox installer) please let me know!

  • Adobe Reader X Silent Install

    Hey everybody!
    I have a program that silently installs Adobe Reader 9.4 and it works wonderfully, but when I upgrade it to install Adobe Reader X the commands I use to run it don't work properly.  I get the Windows Installer help window pop up.  Here's what I'm running for 9.4:
    AdobeReaderInstallFile.exe /sAll /rs /l /msi "/qb-! /norestart ALLUSERS=1 EULA_ACCEPT=YES SUPPRESS_APP_LAUNCH=YES"
    Does anybody know of the proper usage to get a true silent install for 10.0?  Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    Command Line Switches for the Bootstrap  Web Installer for Reader are provided below:
    /sAll Silent Mode for product
    /sPB Silent Mode with Progress Bar for product
    /rs Reboot Suppress
    /rps Reboot Prompt Suppress
    /ini "PATH" Alternative initialization file
    /sl "LANG_ID" Set Language; LANG_ID - Code in decimal digits
    /l Enable Error Logging.  Log file Bootstrap.log will be generated in temp directory
    /msi[Command line] Parameters for MSIEXEC
    AdobeReaderInstallFile.exe /sAll /rs /l /msi "/qb-! /norestart ALLUSERS=1 EULA_ACCEPT=YES SUPPRESS_APP_LAUNCH=YES"
    This command line has parameters for both silent install (/sAll) as well as progress bar mode (/qb) which is useless. Also /rs and /norestart work the same way supressing the reboot.
    SUPPRESS_APP_LAUNCH=YES can also be removed as the checkbox for suppressing the application launch after install has been removed from the installer.
    Moreover the quotes are not being recognised by the MSI Installer causing it to launch help window pop up.
    So the command that can be used for silent install and suppressing EULA is:
    AdbeRdr_1000_en_US.exe /sAll /msi /norestart ALLUSERS=1 EULA_ACCEPT=YES
