Silent Installat

Does anyone know how to silently install the audio console with the new vista drivers. The usual -r for .iss files does not work, and either has the myriad of other switches to try to get this software installed. Even when you run the setup seperatly from the main setup you get an installshield error. I will not go into detail as to what the error is try it and you will see. There is an error code -6003 which does not correspond with any of the error codes on installshields website. i do not want to have to write a macro to install this software. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to that one. Perhaps try using sysinternals' "procmon" (Process Monitor) to watch the files and registry settings accessed by each installation method.

Unattended (Silent) Installat

I've got a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum
I'm trying to add the installation of this to my Unattended XP DVD (following guides from MSFN and Sourceforge).
Unclear as to whether or not the installer provided on the CD was fundamentally a straight-up InstallShield or if it would be referred to as a "Package for the Web" Installer, I've tried using both the /r, and the /a /r methods of recording a . ISS file. In both cases, it seems like the generated file seems to contain information consistent with the answers that I had selected when running through the installation.
When running through the installation, I had opted out of certain components like the MediaSource Player, Mini-Disc Player and the AudioStream Recorder.
When I uninstall, and try to reinstall silently
(using corresponding switches like /s <EM>OR</EM> /s /a /s /sms /fc:\PathToMyISSFile) the installer fails to recognize some of my answers (ie - it doesn't install MediaSource Player, but is insistent upon installing the MiniDisc Player and the AudioStream Recorder)
The file that I am using to record and playback my answer file is \Audio\Setup\Setup.exe

I still can't get the SB Audigy Platinum v5 installer to listen to my answer file.
I did however find a workaround. I ended up copying all the contents of the CD into a temp folder on my HDD.
Then I made a sfx rar file of them with my .iss file in Audio/Setup
This sfx file will automatically run Audio/Setup/Setup.exe /s /a /s /sms.
I then proceed to remove any of the folders that contain apps that I don't want installed along side with the drivers for my Audigy. The only things you apparrently need are the disk.id (root directory) and also the Audio/Setup and Audio/Drivers directories... all of the other folders appear to be optional. After using all the switches specified above, and removing the folders I didn't want, the installation finished up silently.
I hope this helps somebody avoid the frustration I went through trying to get the installer to listen to my answer file.

PSE 10 and Adobe CS6: When running silent install help is not working afterwards

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum. If not: Please help me find the correct one.
I have a big issue with Adobe CS6 (and former versions like Photoshop Elements 10): When installing it from DVD running GUI everything is working fine afterwards. If I install e.g. Photoshop Elements 10 using "Silent Installation" help is not working afterwards. It states that it cannot locate the URL. I have not installed AIR and also do not plan to install it.
I have 'played' a little around with Common Files\Adobe\helpcfg and help directory. Now at least I do not get an error message but still it's not the online help which opens in the browser but the web page that is defined as 'home'.
The same I see now in Adobe CS6. I have e.g. packaged After Effects and Illustrator and when deploying it I'm not able to open help as well and I fear that this is the same issue.
Has anyone deeper knowledge about how "helpcfg" is working? Any example files? Any other help appreciated as well.

@hannilator Have you checked the exceptions folder contents for instructions on how to push to logged off computers? Here's what I get when I package CS6 (DesignWebPrem) and excude AIR/CHC:
After you have deployed the package, separately install the products in the exception folder.
IMPORTANT: Before you install the products in the exception folder, refer to the following Adobe Knowledgebase article for information on installing these products and configuring the settings correctly:

I need to silently upgrade from 3.5 to 7 but get an error message after 7 install. Platform version 7.0 is not compatible with minVersion = 1.9.1

I'm trying to silently upgrade my environment to FF 7. I've gotten the silent install working great, it puts in my Proxy Server info, reassigns the home page and all that. But, the last version we pushed out was FF 3.5. If a user had that on their PC and they run the FF7 install, they get weird messages when clicking on the icon.

Do you have other virtualization or security software that might protect .ini and possibly other files in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) and prevent Firefox from updating them properly?
You need to do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Looking for an app that allows a contact to ring even in silent mode

Has anyone come across an app yet that will allow the phone to still ring even in silent mode?
I want to be able to NOT hear any of the emails or texts at night when I go to sleep but at the same time, I want to be able to have the phone ring through from certain contacts - in case of emergencies from my parents or my son.
This seems like a pretty simple request.

there isnt an app, but if you want to spend $99 like i did, you can get the beta version of IOS 6. It has that exact feature built in! It only rings emergency contacts and also if someone calls multiple times in 3 mintues or less. Its a cool feature. With the $99, you get IOS 6 with all the new featues like maps etc... HT201320 I have a new work email that works fine on my iPhone 5. However the tone and vibration do not work on my phone or iPad for this particular account? It is like it is on silent!! All the features are on for tone / vibration and nothing happens!!!

I have a web based new work email account from my Company that is working fairly well on my iPhone 5 and my iPad 4. However no matter what I do in the settings every email that comes in to both device comes in silent with no tone or vibration. Both devices are working fine and my other personal accounts are also working fine with Tones and Vibrations. I do not understand what is going on. I am on a loud Construction site all day and I need to have that working well. Can you help me out?

IPhone 5s with ios 8.2 - can't use touch function; must double tap each function key; can't shut down phone without a hard reset; every function results in a voice description even in silent mode.

I have a iPhone 5s and just installed the 8.0.2 ios. How do I stop getting audible descriptions of each action I take in silent mode? The Touch ID has ceased to function. The screen icons have to be double struck. I cannot scroll down past the first page of any screen. I must force a shut-down to turn the phone off. How do I fix all these problems?

It sounds as though (no pun intended) VoiceOver is enabled on your iPhone. Pressing the Home button quickly three times should turn this feature off. Further information can be found in the iPhone user guide at the link below.

IPhone 6 silent/ringer switch not working

When I try to put my phone on silent by switching the button on the left hand side. It doesn't seem to do anything now?!?!
The button seems to work fine but its just not silent, I have tried just going into sounds and turning my ringer right down but you can still slightly hear it when it goes off.
Obviously this wouldn't be a problem normally just for times when I need it on but on silent - ie work etc.
Any ideas?

Two options
1. Get your phone looked at by Apple
2. Invoke Settings - General - Accessibility - Assistive Touch - you can turn the mute off or on from there

Iphone 6 ring/silent switch not working

The ring/silent switch on the left side of my iphone 6 is stuck in silent mode and when I try to switch it into ring mode it doesn't stick and just springs back down. Anyone else having this issue?

I am experiencing the same problem with my new iPhone 6 (16 GB, White-Champagne / Sprint).
The switch doesn't work as it should. (Silent or Ring Modes)
When switched the button doesn't change any setting.
Meanwhile at rare moments (has happened 2 times now) the phone quickly alternates between silent & ring modes (like back & forth 5 cycles within seconds) without any activation of switch or any function.
On hold as we speak with Apple tech agent though (1800MYAPPLE), the agent is escalating the problem to her senior tech supervisor we (the agent and I) are waiting for him/her. Will update with outcome shortly.

Problems performing silent install of CR XI Rel 2

We are using the instructions from the installation guide to perform a silent install by running the command

The installation runs but fails at the end of the installation when attempting to put the shortcuts in the users or All users Start Menu with the error of MainEngineThread is returning 1603 (when under user ID) or MainEngineThread is returning 1604 (when under All Users). The installation is being run with an administrator access login ID, so access to either area should not be a problem.
The installation is on both Windows 2000 and XP pc's and the win32 directory of the msi installation files have been copied locally to the machine as part of the process to eliminate network lag.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get past this?

Yoga 2 13 - Fan speed goes almost silent in tablet mode

I find that the fan generates too much noise on my Yoga 2 13 (not pro), even when the laptop is completely idle.
It seems that somehow the temperature threshold for triggering the fan is set a bit too low (same problem seen on the lenovo yoga first version)
However, I noticed that when I fold my Yoga into tablet mode the fan goes almost silent (which is awesome).
Am I the only one experiencing this issue ?
Is there maybe a way to set the fan speed in laptop, tent and stand mode at the same speed as in tablet mode ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was going to reccomend you use the Notebook fan control program, and I went to go find you a link for it. However, when searching for it, I discovered that the Notebook fan control program doesn't work for the yoga 2 13 although it does work for my yoga 13. It seems to be because the yoga 2 13 only has one fan while the yoga 13 has two fans. I'm not sure.
The best bet for you is to search around on forums to see if anyone has discovered a different program that works. I tried searching around but I couldn't find anything.

Disable calls with video silently in jabber 9.2.6

My company just bought Jabber 9.2.6 and as an application packager I was selected to create a package that installs Jabber completely silently. I have no problems with the installation but they gave me instructions to select the "Never start calls with video" option and I cannot find how to disable this silently anywhere. I found that for previous Jabber version this was set in the jabber-config.xml file but I cannot find it anywhere in the 9.2.6 install. I thought this maybe was set through the registry but couldn't find any registry keys for this either. the only configuration files I see in Jabber install folder are "log4cxx.properties", "jabber-config-defaults", "jabber-plugin-config", "jabber-ui-config", "plugin-config" and "StartupHandlerConfig". I couldn't find anything about calls with video in these files. Does anyone have any idea on how to enable this "Never start calls with video" option in Jabber 9.2.6 please?

you should follow instruction from CUCM docs :
Migration of Cisco Jabber Video SettingsIn Cisco Unified Presence Release 8.x, the Always begin with video muted setting is configured in Cisco Unified Presence Administration under Application > Cisco Jabber > Settings. This setting is not migrated during the upgrade to the current release. In the current release, this setting is configured in Unified Communications Manager as a Cisco Jabber Enterprise Parameter called Never start call with video. The default value for the Never start call with video setting is False. If you want to configure calls to not start with video, you must set the Never start call with video value to True in theUnified Communications Manager Enterprise Parameter configuration window.
And from Jabber side you should set StartCallWithVideo parameter in jabber-config.xml.
In short:
Admin should set Never Start Call with Video parameter to True.
Admin should set StartCallWithVideo option to False in jabber-config.xml.

E72 problem to activate silent mode with 031.023

now it is very difficult to activate silent mode with the ctrl key !

I think this is not a bug, but a fix. In the previous FW it was TOO easy to switch to Silent mode and that would happen quite often by mistake (at least to me).
So I think that Nokia corrected this problem, but did not communicate properly with their customers....

I've put my phone on silent and when it rings it's silent and doesn't vibrate which is what I want, but when I get a text it makes a beep noise but I want this to be silent too. How can I make it silent? Is there a way to do it without using the DND?

I want my phone to be completely silent. If I flick it on to wilent it doesn't vobrate when it rings which is great and it doesn't vibrate when a message comes through. However, it does beep when a text comes through which I don't want, plus I don't know why it beeps as that isn't my normal text tone anyway. But I just want it to be silent. I'm not too keen to use the DND function if I dont have too.
