Silent installation of JDK in Linux/HP-UX

I want to know if Silent installation of java is supported in Linux/HP-UX platform.
Can anybody help me in this regard.?

It appears that it does not. Read the Silent Installation chapter in the Java Deployment Guide

  • 10gAS Silent Installation on Red Hat Linux AS 3.0

Silent installation on RHL AS 3.0 fails with Error : Packages version not per Installation requirement.
OUI is erroring out on gcc, compat-* packages. These packages on my machine are more recent than than the one required by the installer.
The install completes successfully if i skip the warning in interactive mode. Does any one know of any flag or environment variables that would skip the package check and proceed with silent installation?
    Thanks

I use a little script which says:
    echo Y | {path}/runInstaller -responsefile {path}/my.rsp
This echoes the mandatory Y into runInstaller.

  • Silent installs of JDK

I am trying to silently install JDK 1.5 but I can't find any documentation on it. There is plenty of docs for silently installing the JRE but nothing for the JDK. I currently have:
    jdk-1_5_0_09-windows-i586-p.exe /s "/qn ADDLOCAL=ALL IEXPLORER=1 REBOOT=Suppress JAVAUPDATE=0 INSTALLDIR=C:\java\jdk1.5"
But that dosen't work. Does anyone anyone have any idea?

    Sir,
It is true that the command line to install the JRE do not apply to the JDK.
The only solution that I find to install my PCs with the JDK into a specific folder other than the "C:\Program Files\" folder was to install first the JRE then install the JDK.
    I don't know why but it's works.
So I know that I have got a JRE that IE and Fireofx use to run applet and an other JDK (which include the JRE) for development.
It is not perfect and it manages my case (JRE available into IE and Fireofx for applet) and a JDK development; both install into d:\java folder.
That may be can help you.
If you want talk about that, send me a email to essaidetest<a>yahoo.fr

  • Oracle Linux Release 5 Silent installation

How do you setup a silent installation on an Oracle Linux Release 5 ISO?

I think the answer to that is Kickstart. Using kickstart, a system administrator can create a single file containing the answers to all the questions that would normally be asked during a typical installation. You can find information about it in the standard installation guide at https://linux.oracle.com/documentation/ chapter 31.

    Hi;
Please anyone guide me for the steps of silent installation of oracle 10.2.0.5 on Linux 5. Please provide me the link if any.You mention to install oracle 10.2.0.5 client or patch on Linux?(What is linux5? version, its 32 bit or 64 bit)
If yes than its mean you are already on 10.2.0.x level. Because 10.2.0.5 is a patch check
10.2.0.5 Patch Set - Availability and Known Is [ID 1087991.1 ]
For installation you need to check readme part of patch
If you mention client installation than check:

  • ORACLE 11g silent installation

    Guys,
I tried silent installation using ORACLE 11.2.0.2 on ORACLE ENTERPRISE LINUX 5.
    ./runInstaller -silent -response "/vm/db_install.rsp"
    getting error as below...
    usage:
    -silent
For silent mode operations, the inputs can be a response file or a list of command line variable value pairs.
    -waitforcompletion
For windows. setup.exe will wait for completion instead of spawning the java engine and exiting.
    -suppressPreCopyScript
Suppress the execution of precopy script.
    -acceptUntrustedCertificates
Accept untrusted certificates from a secure site.
    -noconfig
    Do not execute config tools.
    -noconsole
For suppressing display of messages to console. Console is not allocated.
    -formCluster
To install the Oracle clusterware in order to form the cluster.
    -remotecp <Path>
Unix specific option. Used only for cluster installs, specifies the path to the remote copy program on the local cluster node.
    -remoteshell <Path>

    -executePrereqs
To execute only the prerequisite checks.
    -ignorePrereq
To ignore running the prerequisite checks.
    -ignoreInternalDriverError
To ignore any internal driver errors.
    Command Line Variables Usage
Command line variables are specified using <name=value>; for example:
    *[ session: | compName: | compName:version: ]variableName=" valueOfVariable"]*
    Session/Installer variables are specified using:
    *[session:]varName=value*
    Ex 1: session:ORACLE_HOME_NAME="OraHome"
    Ex 2: ORACLE_HOME_NAME="OraHome"
The lookup order is session:varName then just varName. The session prefix is used to avoid ambiguity.
    Component variables are specified using:
    *[compInternalName:[Version:]]varName*
    Ex 1: oracle.comp1:1.0.1:varName="VarValue"
    Ex 2: oracle.comp1:varName="VarValue"
The lookup order is compInternalName:Version:varName, then compInternalName:varName, then just varName
Please guide me proper installation of oracle silent mode..

  • Jre-1_5_0_09 silent installation on SunOS 5.8, Solaris 8

    HI
I tried to preform a silent installation of jre-1_5_0_09 on SunOS 5.8 machine with Solaris 8, in several ways and I ran into the following problems:
    1.)Creating the Installation Configuration File:
    ./jre-1_5_0_09-solaris-sparc.sh -savestate installLog
Using the Installation Configuration File to Install in Silent Mode:
    ./jre-1_5_0_09-solaris-sparc.sh -silent installLog
the configuration file doesn't seems to be created, and even after creating it manually it does'nt triggers the silent mode.
    2.)./jre-1_5_0_09-solaris-sparc.sh -silent -is:log installLog
    same as above.
If anyone has any suggestion it will be very helpfully
    thanks

    Hi,
I might be 2 years too late but it's more for anyone else who bumps into this forum on their search for this answer (like I did).
Just create a file containing the word "yes" and then run directing the file to stdin and then stdout to a file.
    Or simply:
    $ echo "yes" >install.script
    $./jdk-1_5_0_09-solaris-sparc.sh <install.script >/tmp/install.log

  • How to install JDK on LINUX Ubuntu on system with no net/wireless?

    Hello!
I need to install JDK on LINUX Ubuntu on system with no net/wireless connection.
    What are the commands?
    Thank you!
    Edited by: 800512 on 07:29 10/01/2011

    - Download your release of choice from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
    - Put the file on a USB thumb drive
    - Mount that drive on the target machine
    - Follow the installation instructions.
The Linux/Ubuntu downloads of the JDK are offline installers (i.e. the downloaded file contains everything that's required). Only Windows currently has an online installer (smaller initial download, but requires a net connection for the actual installation)
Alternatively: install the OpenJDK from the official Ubuntu packages using apt-zip (http://wiki.debian.org/AptZip).

  • /usr/bin/java Permission denied after installing JDK on linux

    Hi Guys,
I installed jdk-6u1-linux-i586-rpm.bin and I am getting strange errors like this:
1 When I simply run "java" in shell I get this:
    /usr/bin/java: line 67: /tmp/javaf10273: Permission denied
    /usr/bin/java: line 67: /tmp/javaf10273: Success
    2. When I try to run an sh file I get this:
    Warning: -ms128m not understood. Ignoring.
    Warning: -mx128m not understood. Ignoring.
    /usr/bin/java: line 67: /tmp/javae10796: Permission denied
    /usr/bin/java: line 67: /tmp/javae10796: Success
I searched around and as I understand the linux package may have contained some older java version, and the comp is still trying to use that.
But these notes did not say how to uninstall that older version, orr what to do.
Can you please maybe point me somewhere?
    Thanks,
    Gyuri

The RPM installer for the Sun JDK installs Java in /usr/java/jdk1.6.0_01. Just add /usr/java/jdk1.6.0_01/bin to your path before /usr/bin and it should be fine.
Additionally, there are no -ms and -mx parameters, those should be -Xms and -Xmx.

  • Installing JDK in Linux

Hi I have managed to install the self extracting binary on Ubuntu 7.10, but when I run "java -version" I get the following message.
    gregory@dirge:/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_03$ java -version
    java version "1.5.0"
gij (GNU libgcj) version 4.2.1 (Ubuntu 4.2.1-5ubuntu5)
Copyright (C) 2007 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
This is free software; see the source for copying conditions.  There is NO
warranty; not even for MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.Does someone know how I can get the SUN JDK working? I have been searching for an answer and one of you guys/gals be of assistance.

I tried to install Java on Ubuntu 7.10 using apt-get, unfortunately it failed for me.
I did some more searching around and found these manual instructions which are valid for both Ubuntu and Debian.
    http://wiki.serios.net/wiki/Debian_Java_JRE/JDK_installation_manually
These are the commands I used to install the Java JDK binary
You have to dowload the latest Java JDK (in this case, jdk-6u3-linux-i586.bin) from the Sun Java site.
    Change directory to /usr/local/lib
cd /usr/local/libFrom there extract the JRE or JDK archive file you downloaded:
sudo sh /some/path/jdk-6u3-linux-i586.binIn the above commands, replace /some/path with where the JRE/JDK .bin/.tgz resides and of course replace the filename with what it actually is in your case.
Now create some symlinks so that the executables can be run easily. Change directory to /usr/local/bin
cd /usr/local/binFrom there execute the following set of commands:
sudo ln -sf ../lib/jdk1.6.0_03/bin/* .Pay attention to the period at the end of the command, it is required. And adjust the directory as well to what you have (e.g. jdk1.6.0_03 for the Sun Java 1.6.0_03 JDK).
    3 Verify installation
To verify that the installation was successful, execute
java -versionThe output should look something like this if everything is well
    java version "1.6.0_03"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_03-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0_03-b05, mixed mode, sharing)

  • Silent installs - quick question

    Hi All
We like to confirm if silent installations both 32-bit and 64-bit java jdk installs support installation directory option.
    Eg
    On 64-bit JDK
    jdk.exe /s /v/qn INSTALLDIR=C:\software_installations\jdk1.6\ /L C:\software_installations\scripts\auto-install.log\
We ask because we keep getting pop-ups on options to install but it doesnt have INSTALLDIR option.
Does 32-bit JDK have different options ?
What are the exact command string including option of install directory ?
We like to silent install our 32-bit and 64-bit JDKs with our custom install directory, not using the default.
    Thanks

No multiposting, please. One thread is enough.
