  • Looking for an app that allows a contact to ring even in silent mode

    Has anyone come across an app yet that will allow the phone to still ring even in silent mode?
    I want to be able to NOT hear any of the emails or texts at night when I go to sleep but at the same time, I want to be able to have the phone ring through from certain contacts - in case of emergencies from my parents or my son.
    This seems like a pretty simple request.

    there isnt an app, but if you want to spend $99 like i did, you can get the beta version of IOS 6.  It has that exact feature built in!  It only rings emergency contacts and also if someone calls multiple times in 3 mintues or less. Its a cool feature.  With the $99, you get IOS 6 with all the new featues like maps etc... This isnt realeased to public untill fall.https://developer.apple.com/devcenter/ios/index.action

  • IPhone 5s with ios 8.2 - can't use touch function; must double tap each function key; can't shut down phone without a hard reset; every function results in a voice description even in silent mode.

    I have a iPhone 5s and just installed the 8.0.2 ios. How do I stop getting audible descriptions of each action I take in silent mode? The Touch ID has ceased to function. The screen icons have to be double struck. I cannot scroll down past the first page of any screen. I must force a shut-down to turn the phone off.  How do I fix all these problems?

    Hello Gubus 2,
    It sounds as though (no pun intended) VoiceOver is enabled on your iPhone. Pressing the Home button quickly three times should turn this feature off. Further information can be found in the iPhone user guide at the link below.

  • E72 problem to activate silent mode with 031.023

    now it is very difficult to activate silent mode with the ctrl key !

    I think this is not a bug, but a fix. In the previous FW it was TOO easy to switch to Silent mode and that would happen quite often by mistake (at least to me).
    So I think that Nokia corrected this problem, but did not communicate properly with their customers....

    hi the older button could be set to either "force portrait mode" or "silent mode". now you can do both in the iOS control center (swipe from the bottom of the screen), so the need for a button isn't needed anymore.

  • Silent mode no longer works after 2.2 update

    When the Ring/Silent control is switched to the OFF position, the iPhone fails to go into silent mode. Rings, SMS notifications, music etc. are still loud and clear.
    The only way to quiet the iPhone is to turn it off.
    I have shut down (turned off) the iPhone and turned it on again.
    I have backed up and restored the device.
    I restored the device again and set up the iPhone as a new user. Still no love.
    This was not an issue with the iPhone before before running the 2.2 update. Is there a known fix?

    If the standard troubleshooting steps do not resolve this which are power your iPhone off and on, Reset, Restore with iTunes from your iPhone's backup, Restore your iPhone as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, time to give AppleCare a call at (800) 694-7466, or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

  • Error when running netca in silent mode

    I found a type-o in Oracle's documentation for running netca in silent mode. See link:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/html/B10811_05/app_nonint.htm#BABJFJID
    There is a line that reads:
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/netca /silent /responsefile=/local_dir/netca.rsp
    However, it should read:
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/netca /silent /responsefile /local_dir/netca.rsp
    Hope this saves you all lots of headaches!

    Are you logging on as root? Are you SU'ing to Oracle or trying to run as riit?
    Try logging out - all the way out. Don't stop there, you need to log ALL the way out.
    And then log in as user Oracle.
    Logging in as root causes all sorts of headaches. Only SU to root, and then only when you absolutely need it.
    Now that you have logged out of root, and logged in (not just su'd) to oracle, what happens??

  • Silent Mode Login in 11.2.0.1

    Hi All,
    Why is it that I am prompted the following when logging in using sqlplus in silent mode as sqlplus -S
    oracle@tkdp2datdbc28:~> sqlplus -S
    <username>
    Enter password:
    Silent mode should not prompting me with the phrase "Enter Password" if I am not wrong. 11.1.0.7 and earlier versions does not bring up this prompt at all.
    Is this a Bug or something in 11.2.0.1?
    Thanks,
    Anand
    Edited by: Anand on Apr 6, 2011 2:48 AM

    The -s parameter works only if using it together with a script.
    If you run sqlplus in "manual" mode, the -s is ignored.
    I mean you want to enter something, therefore it can not be silent.
    directly from the docs (10g):
    SILENT Option
    -S[ILENT]
    Suppresses all SQL*Plus information and prompt messages, including the command prompt, the echoing of commands, and the banner normally displayed when you start SQL*Plus. If you omit username or password, SQL*Plus prompts for them, but the prompts are not visible! <font color="red">Use SILENT to invoke SQL*Plus within another program so that the use of SQL*Plus is invisible to the user.</font>
    SILENT is a useful mode for creating reports for the web using the SQLPLUS -MARKUP command inside a CGI script or operating system script. The SQL*Plus banner and prompts are suppressed and do not appear in reports created using the SILENT option.Edited by: Sven W. on Apr 6, 2011 4:09 PM

  • Error when creating Oracle12c PDB using DBCA response file in silent mode

    I am getting an Oracle dbca NullPointerException when trying to create a PDB (Pluggable Database) usingdbca response file in silent mode.
    I have a Oracle 12c CDB up and running, listener is also up, $ORACLE_HOME and $ORACLE_SID are also set correctly.
    After database install and creating CDB using response files, I am now trying to create a PDB using dbca response file. Contents of dbca.rsp -
    [GENERAL]
    RESPONSEFILE_VERSION = "12.1.0"
    OPERATION_TYPE = "createPluggableDatabase"
    [CREATEPLUGGABLEDATABASE]
    SOURCEDB = "orcl"
    PDBNAME = "dev"
    CREATEPDBFROM = "DEFAULT"
    PDBADMINUSERNAME = "oracle"
    PDBADMINPASSWORD = "oracle"
    CREATEUSERTABLESPACE = "true"
    I tried following commands:
    dbca -silent -responseFile /<file path>/dbca.rsp dbca -silent -createPluggableDatabase -responseFile /<file path>/dbca.rsp
    Both give same error:
    ---- Begin output of /u01/app/oracle/product/12c/db_1/bin/dbca -silent -responseFile /<file path>/dbca.rsp
    STDOUT:
    STDERR: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException
    at oracle.sysman.assistants.dbca.backend.CommandLineArguments.processResponseFile(CommandLineArguments.java:6885)
    at oracle.sysman.assistants.dbca.backend.CommandLineArguments.process(CommandLineArguments.java:4544)
    at oracle.sysman.assistants.dbca.Dbca.execute(Dbca.java:110) at oracle.sysman.assistants.dbca.Dbca.main(Dbca.java:184)
    However when I pass exact same parameters as command line arguments, dbca works absolutely fine and PDB is created: Following command runs succefully.
    dbca -silent -createPluggableDatabase -sourceDB orcl -pdbName dev -createPDBFrom default -pdbAdminUserName oracle -pdbAdminPassword oracle -createUserTableSpace true
    My environment need installation using response files only. I had used a dbca response file with "createDatabase" option for CDB and it worked fine. Error is observed only when I run it with OPERATION_TYPE as "createPluggableDatabase".
    There is an option to create PDBs along with CDB creation when OPERATION_TYPE is "createDatabase". But Oracle does not give flexibility to name PDBs in this option. If I ask Oracle to create 3 PDBs, it will name them itself like PDB01, PDB02, PDB03 and so on. This doesn't work in my deployment because of applications compile time dependencies on specific PDB names.

    Yes, I am pointing to correct response file. I have two of these. One for "createDatabase" and another one for "createPluggableDatabase".
    While the first one works absolutely fine, the one which creates PDBs always gives error.
    I tried renaming the response file like dbca_dev.rsp for PDB install but same error message. I read in another forum that rename dbca.rsp is not a good idea.
    So I kept it as dbca.rsp but built it using PDB template.
    When I try after removing -silent, it tries to launch a UI installer. Since I am in Amazon AWS platform, my instance is CentOS based which doesn't support Xwindows display.
    I am stuck with -silent install only. When I try with -progressOnly, I get exactly same error.
    Also tried removing some parameters but still get exact same error message.
    Tried same trick with "createDatabase" response file, now I see parameters missing error message.
    It seems like Oracle doesn't like response file install for "createPluggableDatabase".

    Hey Jan813,
    there is nothing wrong with your or your friends phone. this is due to a simple setting that you can see:
    Menu-tools-profiles-silent-personalise,
    in this you will find an option for 'warning tones', if this is set as 'on' your phone will sound the capture tone even when on silent mode and if it is set as 'off' your phone will not sound the capture tone in the silent mode.
    hope this helps!
    thanks.. i've tried that too.. but their phones still have the sound.. they've been bugging me to tell them how i did it to my phone.. heheh
    but thanks anyway..

  • Problems with multiple e-mail accounts on Droid 2 & also can't put phone into Silent mode

    I just received my Droid 2 and having a problems with having multiple e-mail accounts.
    My original droid worked fine with all of this.
    I have 2 different personal e-mail accounts setup.
    When I click e-mail, it just defaults to the default e-mail address and I have no way of switching accounts. I have to change the default e-mail account in order to view the other account.
    Along with having a shortcut on the home page to each e-mail account, it always just goes to the default one and no way of adding a shortcut to both.
    When I did this on the original droid, i could choose which e-mail account I wanted a shortcut for and could obviously have both on the home screen.
    I also have found no way to NAME the accounts, ex. Comcast & Work.
    That way I could distinguish the difference between the 2 on my home screen even if I could get a shortcut to both.
    not sure how this could be overlooked but I sure dont think there is a way to make this happen.
    Also, what is with 2.2 System and not allowing you to put it in silent mode?
    I updated my original Droid to 2.2 and could no longer make it silent with the volume button on side or going into the sound settings and changing it to silent, it would always stay on vibrate.
    And now it does the same thing with Droid 2. I cant make it silent at all.
    Any ideas on either issue

    becker800 wrote:
    ok I got the silent problem fixed.
    The update changed vibrate to be always, even when on Silent mode.
    The e-mail problem however is stll an issue and I realy hope they release an update to fix this.
    I'm sure I'm not the only one with 2 e-mail accounts on their droid.
    I never had an original Droid, so I can;t compare to what was on that.  For me, I am using the "Messaging" app - it seems to be set up for multiple e-mail accounts better than the email app.  Messaging is the one recommended by the manufacturer - give that a try.
