Silex and Kodak 5300 AiO

Hi Folks,
I have read so many posts regarding the Kodak 5300 AiO and the Silex USB Printer Server.
I have the SX-2000WG.
I installed and configured the printer server using XP. I have the printer server hooked up via wire to the network. The Silex sees the printer.
I loaded the latest drivers for Virtual Link and for whatever reason, I don't see anything about the printer in the Virtual Link nor in the Printer & Fax settings in Leopard.
Has anyone had any real success with these two products working together?
Perhaps I am missing a step.....
Please help!

OK. So I've made a little progress.
I have the software working on an identical Mac.
SXVL launches on my laptop but the GUI never shows up.
Any idea?

  • Printing to Kodak 5300 AIO

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has tried to print photos from iphoto to one of Kodak's new All-in-One inkjet printers (5100, 5300 or 5500). What kind of results you have had, and is it as simple a process as kodak suggests with the printer determining the optimum settings.
My prints from iphoto to my canon ip8500 are a little dark typically so I have created a "custom" preset in the print dialog to lighten the prints up a bit. I was just curious if anyone has any experience with these new printers.
    Thanks for your comments.
    Tom

I just ordered a Kodak 5300 after seeing prints of the exact same photo (8X10) printed on an the HP photo printer, the high end Epson priner with pigment ink and a Kodak 5300. I put the prints in order of quality (without knowing printer) and Kodak was 1st, followed by epson, then HP. I currently have an Epson and I am tired of cost of the ink ($80 for the full set and $37 for the BW.)

  • Help - Kodak 5300 printer doesn't work w/ Airport Extreme Base Station

    Hi All,
Running a MacBook on OS 10.4.11 (airport extreme card) and an I-Book on 10.3.9 (airport card) - just bought an airport extreme base station and a Kodak 5300 all-in-one printer. Base station works fantastic with internet and both CPUs. Kodak printer works great when directly connected to laptops by USB. When printer connected to USB port on Base station it recognizes printer but wont print. Set-up printer with Bonjour settings - but printer won't print with WiFi. "Printer not responding" window appears. Have phoned Kodak support. They tell me the printer should work on Wi-fi but I should contact Apple. Have phoned Apple support - they're stumped. Kodak website recommends using a Silex wireless router with this printer and claims it is compatible - so it can handle wireless set-ups.
Has anyone out there had success with the Kodak 5300 and the Airport Extreme Base Station? It's a great printer that uses very little ink (inexpensive cartridge replacement). I really don't want to fall back on my old Epson.
    Thanks for any thoughts/solutions.

Hi Ron! Thanks for checking inside Kodak. I agree as a first printer from kodak it's a good one, and I certainly appreciate the attempt to buck the industry-standard of milking the customers on ink.
However, I'm not willing to go buy a silex device, when I already HAVE a device: the apple airport. I also got a reply from kodak support indicating that they didn't want to comment on future products, etc etc. Maybe I'm misreading this by assuming product == hardware, but I'm certainly not willing to ditch my current printer for a newer model for what I consider to be a DRIVER issue (I could be wrong of course). Maybe a firmware issue, but certainly not a hardware issue.
What I expect from Kodak is a new driver and/or firmware that would make this work with the apple airport. On the one hand I can understand not wanting to divulge company secrets and upcoming "products", but for a newer driver, I would expect to hear a "we're aware of the problem and are working on a fix". That would go MILES towards making me more patient and less irritated with Kodak. Telling me to wait for newer "products" or go buy a silex is a good way to loose customers.
So if you have any internal clout (or a message board), be sure to raise cain there for them to do the right thing.
    jan
P.S. At the current time of writing, the silex website is not operational ("This site is temporarily unavailable. Please notify the System Administrator"). Way to go silex!

  • Scanning with kodak 5300 easyshare printer/scanner

i have a kodak 5300 printer / scanner that i can't control the scanning from my computer.(i have to use the buttons on the scanner its self) The kodak home centre program on my mac only lets me select (which printer?), setup and maintain, there's no ability to operate the scanner! It's also supposed to be able to scan multiple photos but it only finds 1 of the 3 that i put in. Has anyone else had these problems ? What's the fix?

I seem to have the same problem as you all. In attempting to use the advertised multiple picture scanning option, I ended up using the image capture program, going to browse Devices, even though it was already under the device button. then selected "Use Twain UI" At that point I was able to use some piece of Kodak software that came up. When I enabled the option to look for multiple pictures and told it to do a preview scan, it found all the pictures on the glass, but would only let me scan and save them one at a time, which defeats the purpose. I am also curious as to the advertised OCR program that it automatically uses, I have yet to see that option or see it described in any documentation.

  • Kodak 5300 driver for 0S10.9.5?

    kodak 5300 driver for 0S10.9.5?

The 9.2.0.5 patchset, and all patchsets, are available for download from Metalink.
There should be a rather large variety of JDBC drivers that will connect to an 9.2.0.5 database if that's what you're asking about.

  • Kodak 5100 AIO locking up Macbook

I just got a Kodak 5100 AIO printer. I haven't used it alot, but the few 4x6s and text printing and scanning seem to work well. What I don't like is that if I try to do anything with the printer's software (AIO Home Center) I get this annoying sound like distant drums and my computer basically freezes up. I sent Kodak a message today and am waiting for a response.
ps--the printer has Bluetooth capabilities but apparently you need the Kodak USB adapter as I tried an offbrand one with similar specs (Bluetooth 1.2; USB 2) and it doesn't work.
Any thoughts on either of these issues?

Then that seems to be a question that Kodak will have to answer. It doesn't seem to be iPhoto related. Is the Home Center the printer driver for the printer or a separate application that you access outside of iPhoto? If it's a separate application, can you print to it without it, i.e. via the Print menu option in any application. Try running Printer Setup Utility and see if you can add that printer driver with it. If you can you should be able to print to it without the Home Center application.

    kelly,
If the information on this site is correct, Irfanview may open the file for you.

  • X100e RAM Question (difference between PC2-5300 and PC-5300)

    Hello,
I am about to upgrade my x100e's empty RAM slot with 2 GB
I already found out  here that best RAM for x100e is :"PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SO-DIMM-MEMORY"
In my local store they have SO DIMM PC-5300, 2 GB, KINGMAX, DDR2 667 MHz.
So what is difference between PC2-5300 and PC-5300. Can i buy that kingmax pc-5300, is that compatible with my x100e and will it be slower then recomended PC2-5300?
    please help
    here's my spec.

    Go to Solution.

It looks like it's a mislabelling by the store... It should be called PC2-5300. AFAIK, if it's DDR2, it should be PC2.

  • Compatibility of HPTouchsmart15 and Kodak all in one printer

Cannot print using HP touchsmart 15 with my Kodak all in one printer. Downloaded soft ware, etc.says Driver is unavailable, however also shows documents inqueue ready to print.

Follow this process if it helps:
Download the latest AiO software from Kodak.
    Deinstall all software.
Re-install the AiO software at this location:
    Macintosh HD/Library/Printers/
    To view the path:
Select 'Go' on desktop and select 'Computer'
    Select 'Macintosh HD'
    Select 'Library'
    Select 'Printers'
This is the path to install your AiO Printer software.
    Install software to this path.
Then type in the script posted online at Kodak where "lindaterry" will obviously be replaced by your own hard disk name
When asked for the password type in the main (admin) password
It will remain static. i.e., will not show what you type in.
Press return and type in the remainder script.
    Then go to Settings
    Select Printers & Scanners
Add , select your printer and it should show up in the left hand pane.
If not, contact Kodak for remote support.

  • Both our Canon Pixma And Kodak wifi printers do not seem be recognized by our Airport Extreme.  Is there a special way to configure the Extreme.

We had a Linksys modem-router configuration previously and it worked just fine for all three printers in our home.  2 Canon's and 1 Kodak.  In addition, my HP laptop cannot use the network at all and Im forced to use my mifi card at home for my work computer.  I thought Airport would improve communications and instead we seem to have just the opposite.  Is there a utility we can use to allow everything to communicate with one another

If all of your wireless clients are unable to connect to the new AirPort Extreme, there may be something amiss with either the Extreme's settings or the modem/Extreme interface if you are also not able to access the Internet with your HP laptop.
When changing ISPs (or networking equipment) it's always a good idea to start from "scratch" in configuring your equipment.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
Power-up the base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, computers connected to the base station, either by wire or wireless (as appropriate for the base station type), should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options.
    Please post back your results.

  • IPhot and Kodak Gallery

    New iMAC owner here.
Can anyone explain to me how I can upload photos from my iPhoto files to KodakGallery.com, to share with other people?
I have been able to upload a single photo at a time but only thru many clicks. With my PC, I was able to upload hundreds of photos at a single time.
    Thanks!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Have you looked at the Kodak EasyShare software for uploading to their site?
    http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=130&pq-locale=en_US
Unless there's an iPhoto plugin available for Kodak you'll have to use their software and possibly export your photos to the desktop so their software can upload them as a group. I've not used their software so don't know if it can interface with iPhoto directly or not.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Photo Downloader and Kodak Easy Share Gallery - PAS3

Question 1. For some reason Adobe Photo Downloader has decided to place itself into my systray. I can disable it. I can not remove it. I do not seem to be able to find any option or preference to disallow it from launching. While I have a digitral camera, I use the download from the maker. I like it quite a bit. I am less pleased when my systray gets filled with things I don't want. Any guidance?
Question 2. When I want to share an image online, a new screen invites me to use Kodak's Easy Share Gallery. I use Kodak ESG, so why do I need PASE 3?
When I tried to e-mail an image, I thought it would launch my e-mail composition window with the attachment in place. It only gives me the path where I can find the image. It appears that I still have to open the e-mail program, and create the attachment link. I must be doing something wrong, Adobe usually does not make me walk around the block to complete a task.
    Guidance?
    Thanks

To solve this, try the following:
    - Select Preferences option from Edit Menu
    - Select Email in the left pane in Preferences Window
If my assumption is correct, the option "Other (Save to Disk)" will be selected in the "Send Email Using" list.

  • Photoshop album starter edition 3.2 and kodak camera

I have a kodak m753 digital camera and adobe photoshop album starter edition 3.2 says device not found. how do i get it to recognize the camera without deleting the kodak software. I have windows xp if that helps.

the camera is attached using a usb cable. windows explorer? do you mean internet explorer? i can look at the pictures in the kodak software it recognizes the camera but adobe doesn't. In order to get the pictures into adobe takes jumping through hoops. I prefer to use adobe because it is easier to get photos into emails etc. I just can't get them from the camera to adobe directly. I think the kodak software overrides adobe. Even if i shut down the kodak software adobe will not recognize that i have a camera connected to the computer. When i look in the folder called cameras and scanners it too doesn't list the camera. when i tried installing the camera it allways asks for the disc (which includes the kodak software)
