Silly insert/overwrite question

evidently hit a wrong key on rush job, and now when i try to overwrite or insert, clip goes to the end of the sequence.
how to fix it?
thanks

Did you inadvertently set an In Point at the end of your sequence?
If there is no In or Out point set on the timeline, the clip will be edited at the playhead location.

  • Inserting a question in to an existing quiz

    Hi,
We're using version 6.1 of Presenter in PowerPoint 2000 and
2003. We're trying to insert a question in to the middle of an
existing quiz. When I add a question in the quiz manager the newly
inserted question overwrites one of my my existing question
(slides), followed by a friendly error message dialog stating an
unexpected error occured. The question never shows up in the quiz
manager, just one of my existing questions gets splatted.
Looks like there's some sort of corruption occuring in the
quiz that I can't fix without rewriting the entire quiz.
Does anyone know how to work around this problem?
    Thanks in advance
    Phil

I fixed this problem by doing two things. Firstly I deleted
the summary slide at the end of the quiz. This stopped the error
dialog appearing, but the new slides I was trying to insert were
still overwriting an existing question. I then deleted the
questions that were being overwritten, and all subsequent inserted
questions worked correctly. Seems like something got corrupted in
    the question slide.
The quiz result summary page gets regenerated so there's no
problem with deleting it if things get corrupted behind the
    scenes.

  • Where is insert/overwrite key

Where is the insert/overwrite key on a mac keyboard ? Or if there isn't one how can I toggle between the two functions ?

The enter key is on the keyboard that has a keypad.  You might try the Return key instead.
Do you have these keys on your keyboard?
The circled key is the back Delete key. Fn + Delete is forward delete.

  • Add insert/overwrite audio like in PP

As Audition gets more features hod-rodded from PP, why not add the insert/overwrite as well?
I often need to insert audio into a project, which means pushing all the tracks in the timeline back to make way for it. This is exactly how PP does it when using the insert button in the source monitor. Currently in Audition, when wanting to insert audio (in multitrack view), it will only overwrite, not insert.
Each time I have to resort to a work-around. I'm sure there must be others who have to do this regularly as well. Am I right?

Like others have mentioned, I've had this exact issue starting with CS3,CS4 and now CS5.
The symptoms (if an audio sync issue is present):
    - Captured HDV video (Sony HDR-HC3) via premiere's capture utility - single file - entire 62 minute tape
    - No dropped frames detected by premiere (although drops occurred - see below) - no red scene inserted.
    - Captured video always plays fine (audio in sync) if played in windows media player, VLC, etc. etc.
If there were dropped frames in the 62 minute file (again these are not detected during capture):
    -  audio will progressively be more out of sync when dropped into premiere timeline. (that is - it will be in sync until the first drop, but by the end of file it may be 4 seconds out.
    - Side note - 62 minute tape had 8 dropped frames detected (if captured via HDVsplit).
The issue (as others have posted), is that premiere is doing a lousy job of detecting these drops.  It simply puts together the (now shorter) video on top of the original audio.  Hence the sync issue.
    Quick Fixes:
    1. Capture video first in HDVsplit.  Have it stop if frames are dropped (if you don't select this option - then it will behave as above - 62 file with drops).
Works 100% of the time for me.  Drop these shorter ("non-dropped" frame) files into premiere.
    2. If you already have a single file captured w/drop issues (like the 62 minute file I have above).  Do this:
         - Open that file up in HDVsplit
         - Have it generate new files on scene detection breaks
         - These generated files will be in sync  when dropped into premiere for editing
This last approach is much faster then trying to resync these manually on the premiere timeline.

  • JFormattedTextField insert/overwrite toggle

The insert/overwrite toggle seems not to work unless I do an InputMap/ActionMap myself. Am I doing something wrong, or is this the way it's supposed to be? With all the built-in actions, I was surprised that I had to implement insert/overwrite myself.
Also, the standard document almost always calls my custom document filter's replace method, and not my insertString method. Is this normal?
    Thanks,
    Eli

It would help more if you described the updated track targeting!
Edit: heres the answer for anyone else who couldnt figure it out: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/source-patching-track-targetting.html
Short answer: for CC - click the very 1st column in the timeline - the source indicator.

  • Inserting a Question Slide

I am trying to insert a question slide, but it keeps defaulting to insertion as slide 9 when I need it to be later in the slide deck.  I cannot seem to move the slide to where I need it either.  Can someone help me fix this, please?

    Hi There,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Can you tell me the version of Captivate You are using (Go to Help > About Adobe Captivate) ?
Have you tried the same with a new Blank Project ?
Try to Copy and Paste all the slides in a new Blank project of same resolution and then check .

  • Can I insert pretest questions as knowledge checks between content slides and before a graded quiz without affecting the scoring of the graded quiz? Help documentation states that they should be used before a course begins.

Can I insert pretest questions as knowledge checks between content slides and before a graded quiz without affecting the scoring of the graded quiz? Help documentation states that they should be used before a course begins.
If I use both pretest questions and graded questions, can I also include remedial with return to quiz for both?

Sorry, but I gave two workarounds: my preference is custom question slides, but you can also have questions slides where you do not add the score to the Total score. They will not be reported to the LMS and can act as Knowledge slides. Only some quizzing system variables can count all question slides, including the Knowledge slides, but the core variables (score, maximum score, percentage) will be correct. Here some links to my blog, that could help you:
System variables in Captivate 8 - Captivate blog
Intermediate Score Slides - Captivate blog
That each SCORM module can have only one quiz is a SCORM requirement, not a a Captivate specific feature. Camtasia is bit difficult to compare, it is not a fully blown authoring tool although the best video screen capture tool around (video is non interactive by definition). I don't use Storyline, but cannot imagine that they shouldn't create SCORM-compliant files.

  • SIlly NTSC monitor question

This may be a silly question but,
When viewing footage on an NTSC monitor, my footage looks quite different than it does in FCP on the computer screen. If I do color correction just based on the NTSC monitor for DVD output, will that DVD look the same once played on a regular DVD/TV and played on a computer's DVD player?
I ask because when I'm viewing footage on my NTSC monitor, it looks way different on my computer screen and I want my DVDs to look good whether they are played on a regular TV dor though a computer's DVD player.
    Thanks

Now you've done it-- opened a whole can o' worms. Lots to consider:
Is your monitor truly a monitor, properly calibrated and set up? Will you be looking at the dvd on the same monitor? Are all the sets to be used for playback set up the same?
The idea of a properly calibrated monitor is that your show should look the same on your monitor as on any other properly calibrated monitor. But that's as far as it goes. There's no accounting for anyone else's tv set. Often manufacturers paint them "hot" and then people crank them even more to overcome less than ideal viewing conditions. So you're doubly hosed from the moment is leaves your hands.
The best you can do is create a show that looks good on a properly set up system and hope for the best.
But don't just rely on the monitor-- learn and use the scopes too.
And then there is the current manufacturers situation with monitors themselves. The industry is in a mess right now, transitioning to lcd-- none of which look really good. I hope Zebulon chimes in here-- a professional engineer who will tell you horror stories if he's in the mood.
And back to your original concern, do not trust your computer monitor in FCP for accurate color or much of anything else except your edits.

  • Silly HTML wordwrapping question...

Sorry if the question seems dumb, but is there a way to
    insert a space in a
block of text that won't break up a word during wordwrapping?
    Example : « This is a test »
I like the spaces between the quotation marks and the quoted
    text. But I
don't want either of them left stranded. I want this block of
    text to behave
like those 2 spaces don't exist. Wrap BEFORE the 1st quote,
    or after the 2nd
one (or at any point in between as long as it's between two
    words).
How do I tell those two spaces to be ignored by wordwrapping
    rules?
    Thanks.

    Or HTML -
    " whatever "
But Cosmo's solution is a more efficient way for sure.

  • Silly Podcast approval question

Ok this might be a silly question but when I submit a Podcast to my Podcast Producer server and choose to submit for approval it does the work and an email is sent to me telling me that it has been submitted for approval and the path to the files. That's all good so far - My question -
What am I supposed to do to approve or reject the podcast??????
    Thanks in advance
    Gary Finch

It's a completely manual process right now. You'd have to take the stored recording and resubmit it through Podcast Capture (or some other means) if it's approved, or do nothing if it's not!

  • DB Insert Example question

I want to insert data into a SQL database using the Insert Example.vi, as a base for my code.  I have to add a large number of parameters to the database.  My questions:
Is there a limit to the number of parammeters I can add?
I noticed that the example added two parameters (Device name and number of samples)  It then uses "DB tools free object.vi" two times.  Do I have to call the "DB tools....vi" once for every parameter I send?
    thanks
    Bob

There is no "limit" to the amount of fields that you can pass through an ODBC to SQL other than your connection timing out if it is EXTREMELYYYYY large.... I would guess that for all practical purposes you would not reach this point.
You can use the Insert Data vi which you would just have to specify the table name that you want to insert. Keep in mid that if you use this functiuon, you need to insert a cluster with THE SAME exact amount of fields as your table in the database. You would use this function if you want to insert a value to every single field in the database. If you dont, then you would use the Execute SQL Query vi, which you would wire a string with your query which in this case would be an INSERT statement.
    I hope this helps.

  • Silly but easy question

Hey guys im pretty new to this whole thing and have created a small program (using a tutorial) in which to help further my understanding of java. I am currently using netbeans to develope java and in my program I imported a few packages. Having imported these packages such as java.util etc I then went to search for them on the pc and could not find them anywhere. Does anyone know where they would be located on the pc?
    Thank you.

step 1: remove Netbeans. You are not ready for it yet.
step 2a: learn to compile and run Java applications through the command prompt.
step 2b: you may want to do so while reading the java tutorial.I completely agree with your step 2a and 2b, but not with step 1. I taught a lot of developers Java, from kids still in grade school to seasoned developers. NetBeans is a very nice IDE. When they start out, they should be coding manually in their favorite IDE to get started, and be encouraged to learn all the nuts and bolts including comman line options and compiling, but when someone comes in to Java starting at the very beginning with programming, it is too overwhelming to have to learn all the nuts and bolts, syntax, and etc... just to print out "Hello world!".
Keep NetBeans on your box, keep using it and learn the nuts and bolts of programming and how Java works. Most importantly: keep asking questions when you don't understand and cannot find the answer.Actually I very much see your point and agree with it, for the very bare basics it is indeed far better to start with Netbeans. Stupid that I never realized that before, I keep reflecting on how I learned Java myself but I was already schooled in Pascal, C and C++. So the program would be:
    - learn the language syntax using Netbeans
    - close Netbeans and switch to the command line.
    - learn the more advanced stuff like the basic tools, the classpath and packages by getting applications consisting of more than one class to compile and run on the command line
    - learn how to include jars on the classpath of your applications
    - switch back to Netbeans and see how all what you did on the command line is dealt with there
It is still important to at one point let Netbeans go and do the stuff on the command line, there is just no better teacher than doing it the hard way at least until you understand how it works.

  • Silly data types question involving strings

what sort of data type do I need to do this operation
I want this data to be inserted into table Term: 2002 T2
    OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand("INSERT INTO FILEONE(Term) VALUES ('2003 T2');", dbConn);
it says I am using an invalid character which I am assuming is to do with data type or the way I am putting together my INSERT statement ...
    thanks,
    Lance

    What is FILEONE?
    insert into <TABLE> (<COLUMN>) values ...
So you are inserting into the "term" column of table "fileone".
Insert syntax can be found here:

  • Index/Key Insert Design Question

Assume I am dealing with a customer object, and its properties which I'm attempting to insert into the database; one table called customer, with a key/index called id which is a unique number for each customer. As I understand it, this is a typical scenerio. Since the id has to be unique, when a customer inserts a new id, it has to be generated. Most of the world, to my knowlegde, does this with a trigger, ala Oracle. Unfortunately, it is my goal to do this without a trigger, allowing database independence with less setup time. This would then have to be done in code and not with the database. I can't think of, or know of anythying associated with JDBC that will directly help me; for example, getNewId(tablename).
The best solution I can think of is to have another table holding the last id. My dao would read this id and calucate ids based on the id read, along the way keeping the last id in the table in sync.
To me, this seems like a hack, but it works. Anybody know of a better non-trigger based and database independant solution? Anybody see the same issues.
    Thanks in advance,
    Brunky
P.S. Pardom me if I cross post this. There are a couple of groups I would be very interested in hearing their views concerning this topic.

    Thanks for your response GurnB.
My understanding is that sequence is in actuality a trigger, if anybody can confirm or dispell this, I'd like to know.
Sequence and Max aren't what I'm looking for because they are Oracle specific. The goal here is to write something database independant; specifically, so developers could use, MS Access(excuse me while I hurl) or mysql( both have potential threading/blocking issues, I know), on their workstations, and run the production app using oracle, with minimal, or no, changes or configuration, except maybe the datasource.
To do this in code, I was thinking providing a static(synchronized) class, maybe a stateless ejb and/or an entity bean; some type of service that would provide the number uniquely to all applications.
Although, when I think about this solution, I crindge and feel all icky inside. Has anyone come up with or seen a less icky cross db solution?
    Thanks in advance,
    Brunky
