Silly Question but does the 13' MacBook Air fit on the tray in front of your seat on an aircraft?

I travel frequently with my current laptop which is a 15.6 inch HP G62 PC and I would like to upgrade to a MacBook Air 13' but the MacBook needs to fit on the tray/table on the aircraft as I do a lot of miles (Around 10,000 a month) and therefore type and work a lot in the air (no pun intended for buying a MacBook Air )
Thanks a lot to anyone who could help!

The MacBook Air is 12.8" wide and 8.94" deep.  I believe it would easily fit on the tray, but I do not have first-hand knowledge.
Also, it seems to me that using it directly on your lap might also be an option.
Here are the specs:

With regards to the lpd setup, everything looks okay except you won't be able to use Generic PostScript as the driver. The MP is not a postscript device and Windows will not do any language translation, like the Mac will do in the reverse setup. So, download the Gutenprint 5.1.4 driver (http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3) and select one of the MP drivers (I don't think the MP460 is listed as a supported device).

  • Can the new MacBook Air 13" with the i3 processor run Adobe Connect?

I need a new computer for college this fall. I really am leaning towards the MacBook Air, 13" model with the i3 Processor and an upgrade to 8 GB ram. Will this (w/ a 1.3GHz Processor) run Adobe Connect? It says it requires 1.83GHz for Mac. So is it not fast enough? Should I just get the pro? :/
Here is the site on Adobe...

    Any help is appreciated. :)

I agree that the Retina display is only truly useful for photographers, etc; but as someone who owns a 13 inch Retina MBP and had a 13 inch MBA, I wouldn't necessarily clssify the non-Retina machines as "better".  The difference in display quality is quite noticeable, I like it, and I've never had a problem running non-optimized websites or apps on the machine and I'm fussy about displays. Maybe that's because I've left it running at default settings.
It really all depends on where you want to put your bucks.  In general, you can get slightly better performance for the same money with a non-Retina machine.
That said, if you're looking at benchmarks and using Geekbench, a 1.3 i5 2013 MBA comes out at 5940-5950; my 2012 2.5 i5 Retina benches out at 6777, so it's slightly faster but not remarkably so.  The 2013 1.7 i7 MBA will match up with it and even exceed it a bit, at least until the Retinas are upgraded with Haswell later.  I suspect they'll be faster, though it depends on what chips Apple uses and how much battery life they want to trade off for it.  Also, you are using some graphics power with the Retina just to process the display, and the newer Intel graphics GPU's are generally stronger than the 4000 series in the current Retina, so that's a littl bit of the trade off you'd make.
The newer models have a faster disk access system and 8011.ac wireless though the latter is problematic at the moment and it will take some time for Apple to fix that.  You'll also not be able to take too much advantage of the faster wirelss speeds immediately unless you buy a new (8011.ac) router; it will take a few years before the rest of the world catches up to the new standard.  The 13 Retina MBP has an extra Thunderbolt port..which I routinely use..and an HDMI slot not present on the MBA.
Just do your homework, consider all your needs, and get what serves you best.

  • On my iMac running OS 10.6.8 (but not on my Macbook Air running Lion) the "go back one page" button retains a maximum of 5 prior websites. Is there any way to avoid that 5-page limit?

On both computers, I'm running FF 7.0.1, but the problem has been with me on my iMac ever since FF 5. Both computers have the same add-ons, and as far as I can tell all settings are the same as well. But something obviously is limiting the number of pages that are retained in the "go back one page" history. I've searched in vain repeatedly for some setting that might explain the problem. I would appreciate any guidance you can provide. I've set forth below my list of extensions:

You need to reinstall OS X:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Why can't I connect to my shared computers for file sharing;I have 3 Macs and I can connect the other 2 but not my new Macbook air.

I have a black Macbook 4,1 running 10.7.5, an iMac 11,3 running 10.7.5 and a new Macbook Air 6,2 running 10.9.5., I have file sharing turned on on all machines. All machines are visible and I can connect all machines except for the Macbook Air. The Macbook air can see the other 2 Macs but does not connect to either of them or even give me the option to connect as a guest or a registered user. The other Macs connect to the Macbook Air but it will not connect with them. Any help is appreciated. Thank You.

Are others having the same problems?

    Try this. Worked for me.
    - turn off your router
    - turn off you Mac's after removing all available printers
    - turn off all iDevices
    - do a factory reset of your printer remove all cables min. 30 sec.
    - turn on your router first
    - ran the network set up wizard
    - give your printer also a new name like "DeskJet 2015"
Something which you don't have used before.
    - turn on your Mac's and add your printer
    - turn on your iDevices at least.
    Should work after these steps.
It worked for me including all iDevices.

  • How well does the 2013 MacBook Air 13" Handle Adobe Creative Cloud Program's?

How Well Does The 13" MacBook Air Handle The Adobe Creative Cloud Apps?
I'm A Visual Communication Student But I Would Like Extremely Portable Setup Hence The MacBook Air 13", The Main Program's I Use Are:
    Photoshop
    InDesign
    Illustrator
And I Also Use Dreamweaver & After Effects From Time To Time.....
How Would A Top Spec 2013 13" Air Cope Running These Program's??

What about the backpack? Did you have it in one often?
College and notebooks = backpacks usually 9 times out of 10,  was that the case?
Your MacBook Air doesnt like roommates in your backpack
Many collects students or people in general are fond of using non-idealized backpacks (without a padded laptop compartment) along with their books. Sandwiching books around your notebook etc. is an extremely bad idea and can leads to your LCD screen being destroyed when heavy textbooks are pressing against same, or when dropping your backpack, these books slam into your Macbook causing great potential for damage.
~"large white blotch and pixilated lines running down the screen."
    That indicates a significant impact.
~~"They kept telling me it was "excess pressure". I told them it was impossible, it would be normal pressure"
What do you mean by "normal pressure"   ANY pressure to the LCD is abnormal pressure.

  • Does the 2012 MacBook Air overheat or get hot to touch?

I currently own the original MacBook air, and running a basic word document for like 20mins causes my MacBook to get really hot and the fan is quite loud. But I love the MBA so I was wanting to know has this problem been solved with the new MBA? Or does it still overheat. And how much can you do before it get really hot? Like can you run programs like CAD without it heating up?

Install iStat pro (download from the Internet) and it will display your MBA internal temperatures and fan speed.  Then open Activity Monitor set to show 'All Processes' and '%CPU' to display values from High to low.  Look for applications using a large CPU percentage.  You may be experiencing a 'runaway application'.

Hi I bought 2TB WD my passport for mac but I do not know what I can delete from the original macbook air. Thank you.

That depends on what you have on the MBA...if you have videos, move the videos to the external drive.  If you have a lot of music, create a folder/library for the music and point iTunes there for the music.  If you have a lot of photos for iPhoto, make a new library on the external drive and move our photos over there and then select that library as the default library for iPhoto to use.
Those are the big files and should take a lot of the load off the internal storage.

  • This may be a silly question but how do I get my music from my old ipod to the Ipod touch. when I go to move my music a error pops up saying your music wasn't copied to this ipod because it can not be played on this ipod.  what can I do??

You will need to do it using a third-party utility such as Phone to PC. Also, see:
