Silly question re: synching ipod touch 5g to itunes!!! (avoiding crashes/freezes) .
Hi All,
In order to prevent crashes/freezes when syncing an ipod touch 5g to itunes, does all of my music library have to be in mp3 format or will a combination of AAC and mp3 tracks be OK? I'm new to this apple thing and want to get it right BEFORE I attempt any synching. Have searched the ipod user guide to no avail. Many thanks......

Haven't even used the ipod yet (It's under the xmas tree - I know 'cos I had a sneaky peek!!!!)
Want to avoid potential problems - it took me a while to figure out how to create mp3 CDs.
So, no windows doesn't crash/freeze etc.
Will check out the link though, just to be on the safe side before the ipod gets its first fire up.

However, when it came to the ipod touch, well, as you can see we've had issues. I didn't want to have to restore the device if not needed. It sounds like we need to synch ipod touch with our original PC itunes library. Thanks IIIaass!

Hi...My Ipod Touch was recently stolen. In order to help the local police deptartment I need to supply a seria number for the Ipod. Of course, I did not wrtie down the serial number, but I have used he device on my Itunes account. My question: Is there a way to retreive the serial nuber of my Ipod touch from my Itunes account? - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

How do i deactivate an ipod touch from my iTunes
I know this should seem simple, but some how I am missing something. I have tried searching and can't find anything on deactivating a device.
I just need to deactivate an old iPod touch from my iTunes account that I am selling on Craigslist.
Help?The consensus on the net would seem to be that only "Mac Computers" count as "Devices" for the purposes of Authorizing and Deauthorizing for iTunes purchases you are talking about. It is also implicit in the article mentioned below:
Furthermore, on the "Deathorize All" feature, from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420:
" Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/)."
I was NOT aware of that, and I just realized I'm at my stated limit of 5. Some people are saying that sometimes your mac may get counted twice (a bug somewhere in the chain). I didn't find a solution to this however, though I didn't look very hard since it is possible I reached the limit legitamitely.
So apparently we can have as many iPod/phone/pad devices playing our purchases but only 5 macs, foolishly referred to in this instance by Apple as devices. This is obviously wording they should correct, as it has clearly mislead many people, including the both of us!

A search that brought me here (same question, but yet unanswered), and other places. I'm surprised you couldn't infer his/her meaning from context, you seem to strive for helpfulness (I see you're level 8). Some people use the phrase/s count toward(s) in the same manner, if that helps.

Windows 7 64 bit, iPod touch 2nd gen, iTunes sync issue
I have Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium and am frustrated to death. I have spent days wiping out my iPod trying something different an only to start all over again. I am not a n00b to computers and only ask because I only find a trail of tears and none of the problems I see look specifically like mine.
I have been following this issue since Feb 2010 and notice reports that are sort of similar back to Jan of 2009. Anyway here is my problem.
iTunes will recognize my iPod touch 2nd Gen. iTunes will "sync" apps and data. iTunes will not sync movies, music, books, or software upgrades.
I get an error code that changes depending on what I am trying and seems to lead to no where. I can't honestly remember the code anymore.
I can sync with this same computer using Windows XP 32 Pro win a VirtualBox VM, but can not do it directly from within Windows 7. So hardware and drivers are not the issue. I reinstalled iTunes with a Vista 64 bit install that I found online which appeared to work temporarily then ultimately I ended up back where I started.
I actually switched to Windows (from linux) because I got tired of the VirtualBox method. Quite ironic that I am still facing the same issue.
On top of the not being able to sync properly from Windows 7 64 bit. Everytime I try I have to put in hours of work to get my Ipod back to working order as iTunes only allows you to sync with one computer and is slower that snail poop in January. In order to try again I have to be willing to commit to the problems that I am most likely to encounter.
So my questions are
1. Does anyone have a clue why Apple has not fixed this issue? or is there a solution I don't know about?
2. Is there an easier way to attempt a fix that does not require me to re organize my 70+ apps on my iPod?
P.S. I do not have an intel based chipset as that seems to have been an issue for others. I have

Have tried direct to MB USB and through powered HubAre you sure that you downloaded the 64 bit version and not the 32 bit version? I would delete the download and try again. You also might want to look at the iTunes forum since youu have an iTunes problem and not an iPod problem.

Yes. You can sync an unlimited number of iDvies that you control to one iTunes library/account. If using the same iTunes library on the same comutr just make sure that yu go to the ap. music and other pane for the iPod in iTunes and select sycn selected items. Not the the whole library. That way each iPod can have it own contents.

Remote App on IPod Touch Connect to ITunes on Win7
Is anyone having a problem making the Remote APP on ipod touch connect to ITunes on Win7 over WiFi? Itunes sees it alright, asks for a Passcode which the ipod supplies, considers it and then says it is invalid. I'm open to suggestions.
Yes it is, I click on the "Remote" button, type the passcode into iTunes, it thinks for a while then comes back and says "invalid passcode". The two are communicating or iTunes wouldn't show the "Remote" button or display the passcode entry window.

I dropped my iPod Touch in a puddle on a camping trip and I sent it to the Pod Drop. I told them that I am only concerned about getting the photos of my family and friends from the device. I know that all of the songs are saved in iTunes on my computer. They told me that they were not able to retrieve the pictures from my device. I recently sync'ed my iPod Touch before it broke. Do the photos that I save on my iPod Touch save to iTunes or to my computer when I sync the device? If so, how do I retrieve those pictures from iTunes or from my computer?
Also, if I buy a new iPod Touch how can I transfer my songs from iTunes to the new device?

LukePhotos taken by and saved to the iPod are included in the backup that iTunes makes evetime you sync or if do a manual or iCloud backup.
Per the following the backup includes:
iTunes: About iOS backups
Camera Roll (Photos, screenshots, images saved, and videos taken. Videos greater than 2 GB are backed up with iOS 4.0 and later.)
Note: For devices without a camera, Camera Roll is called Saved Photos.
Thus if you backed up after the photos were taken yuo can restore an iDevice from that backup -
i just got an ipod touch and downloaded itunes. when i plug my ipod into my computer itunes doesnt read my ipod. i looked it up in 'help' in itunes and it said if itunes doesnt read your device to click on 'device' and hit add. but i dont see a 'device' button anywhere. can anybody help m eplease?

I plugged up my iPod touch to my iTunes library and it said that it couldnt recognize the iPod and the message told me to restore my iPod? Why would it prompt me to restore the factory settings? Also if I restore the iPod will it erase all of my music even though my music is in my library?
Some of my apps stopped working would this be the reason I need to restore my iPod? I am scared to restore the settings and lose all of my music.
I also put all of my apps in the utility folders, would this have anything to do with my iPod needing to be restored?Becasue something got corrupted on the iPod. It happens sometimes. Just restore the iPod to factory settings/new iPod and then try restoring from your backup.

Downloaded the latest ITunes and it wiped all my music. I was able to recover the music purchased on Itunes (but not my CD downloads). I am having difficulty syncing my IPOD now and all of the help guides tell me that I need to use the "device" options to fix it but there is no "Device" options in my ITunes ribbon.

If it is in your home and wifi is on and connected you can call it with FaceTime, Skype or other app that will play a notification sound and listen for it.
