Silverlight plugin crashes in Mac Lion - Firefox 20

Despite making sure I have the current Silverlight update installed, I've been having repeated trouble trying to view videos on Mac OS Lion. The crashes consistently happen whenever a link to a Silverlight video is clicked. Crash ID is bp-caa5b831-2464-47a6-9c0a-09f112130513.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

  • I am unable to watch Netflix on my computer; my Silverlight plugin crashes every time I attempt to watch a video.

The Silverlight plugin crashes whenever I try and watch a video on Netflix. I'm using Vista 64-bit, and I'm running the most recent update of Silverlight. This is a persistent problem for me (i.e. I've been unable to watch Netflix in Firefox, including the most recent stable releases).

I was getting this error and tried everything. The only thing that worked was uninstalling Silverlight 4.0 and going back to 3.0, which I got from oldapps(dot)com

The Silverlight plugin crashes every time i try to watch a video at the Universal Sports website. I have uninstalled this plugin and re-enstalled it many times with no success

It doesn't matter what I do I still get the plugin to crash. I've removed every trace of Internet Explorer in the registry. Download fresh versions of Mozilla and Silverlight. I uninstalled both of them and cleaned any lingering files. Reinstalled Mozilla, and Silverlight. Same error. No more movies for me. :>/ See entry below.

  • Flash Crashes Repeatedly - Mac Lion OS / Firefox 7.0.1

I am running Firefox 7.1 and have had Adobe Flash repeatedly crash when trying to view videos on comcast.net and cbs.com.  I have updated Adobe Flash to the latest version (according to the Adobe site) and yet the crashes continue.  I need help.
    I am running:
    Mac 10.7.1. (Lion)
    Firefox 7.0.1
    Adobe Flash 10.3.183.10

i haven't seen a crashlog, so let me assume everyone has the same issue.  the root cause of the crashers are with non standard fonts.  when the player enumerates through these fonts the non standard fonts causes the player to fault.  there are a few ways to get through this issue.  pick one that you feel comfortable doing.
    try something new: level easy
we release FP 11.2 beta.  install this player version will take advantage of new code that handles the non standard fonts.  the player is beta and is watermarked, so keep this in mind.
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplatformruntimes/flashplayer11-2/
i want to use FP11: level moderate
there are 2 solutions to try.  one is a quick and dirty, but is not as thorough...
    solution 1:
move all the fonts from your /Users/<yourUsername>/Library/Fonts to another location (eg. your desktop).  you have the option to delete them if you don't ever plan to use them again
quit your browser and restart your browser
    solution 2:
this was outlined in another thread supplied by the user seantrue
    http://damnedfinesoftware.blogspot.com/2011/10/fsusage-when-adobe-flash-crashes-in.html
i don't want to use FP11, but would rather downgrade: level easy/moderate
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html
download the uninstaller and run it
download the previous player version prior to FP11 (10,3,183,10)
    unpack and install
give one of them a try..
Note:  the solutions outline here apply to Safari and Firefox.  Chrome uses an embedded flash player plugin...  it's not advised, but you could disable the ebmedded plugin and make use or the installed alternative.

  • Share Screen Crashing on MAC?  Firefox?

Only just recently on my MAC and Firefox that has always worked- anytime I do SHARE SCREEN, the whole application/program crashes and offers no solutions.

Thanks Nitin... it is a little difficult as I am trying to assist this person with Lightroom issues by remote. I have established he has 10.6.8 on his iMac. I think it just crashes with no report but I will ask again tomorrow as we are working on a 5 hour time difference.
So even his Safari is ancient.
I did get him to update Flash and restart.
Maybe I will get him  to update the OS first to Yosemite... but even that is difficult as the user is not so computer literate...
Anyway I will respond again tomorrow and many thanks for your quick response.

  • Dreamweaver 5.5 crashes in Mac Lion

I upgraded my Mac to Lion a couple of days ago and everything's been fine. Until this morning when it's crashed a couple of times in Dreamweaver 5.5, and then won't restart for some time.
I've seen a discussion where it recommends removing any dreamweaver files from the library/preferences folder.
The only two I could find were com.adobe.Dreamweaver.11.5.plist and com.adobe.Dreamweaver.11.plist.
I removed these but it made no difference.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    David

It's very slow to start up. It will launch, but I get the spinning ball for about 3 minutes before it finally opens.
There's nothing in particular that I do when it crashes. It could be saving changes to a file.
I tried moving the only two dreamweaver-specific files I could find in the library/preferences - com.adobe.Dreamweaver.11.5.plist and com.adobe.Dreamweaver.11.plist - but they made no difference, so I've put them back.
I saw another thread which suggested removing files in the libraray/application support/adobe folder, but there's an awful lot of files and directories in there, and none that seemed specific to dreamweaver.
I haven't tried repairing permssions. I'll give that a go next.
I upgraded to the latest version of Lion over the weekend - Lion 10.7.2.
I had Safari running at the same time. It sounds like clutching at straws, but I'll try relaunching after repairing the permissions - and just open DW.
Do you know which preference files might need removing?
Ps. Just tried the above - but it made no difference. I timed how long it took for DW to open - 3 min 10 secs.

  • Latest FLASH plugin crashes both Mac and PC with NO customizations or hardware acceleration

Never had a problem before until I updated my flash plugin a few weeks ago.
FLASH will shut off a vulnerable plugin, so the only way you can access content is to update.
There are NO customizations and NO hardward acceleration on either Mac 10.6.8 or PC Windows 8.1
    BOTH computers are crashing.
I've sent about 10 reports alone today!
I've cleared my cache, reset my permission, and all is well.

  • Fireworks 5.1 crashes in Mac Lion

I've been using Fireworks for the past 5 years or so for heavy prototyping work. Have loved it! Once I moved to Mac OS Lion 10.7.2 I started having major problems with the software. It was getting progressively worse  - from a crash or two per day to a point when it crashes on 'save', crashes on start up, crashes every 2 min, irrelevant to what I'm doing, which means I cannot have any work done!!!! I'm aggravated beyond belief: looks like Adobe have dropped development for this product as there's no fixes or patches, 5.1 hasn't been updated while every other soft in Creative Suite has been upgraded to 5.5. This is such a shame, as Fireworks occupies a rather unique niche for designers and I've worked with it quite successfully for so many years! But they don't leave any other option and I have to have work done. Will probably move on to using Omnigraffe, as many others aggravated by constant bugs and crashes under Lion.

Sorry you are experiencing these issues. A reinstall might help, and you can also check out these technotes from Adobe.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/faq.html#lion-os
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/905/cpsid_90508.html#main_Fireworks
Rest assured, Adobe has NOT dropped support for Fireworks. I would also point out that neither Photoshop or Illustrator received a 5.5 update either. The main products updated in the 5.5 release were Dreamweaver, InDesign and Flash.

It wouldn't stop crashing long enough to open and send the others. but this is the most recent from today. I uninstalled it for 2 days and had no crashes yet couldn't watch any videos.

  • When I try to print coupons, I get a message that the coupon printer plugin has crashed. I've tried following the instructions for when the Adobe Flash plugin crashes, but reloading the page does not work. Just sits there for 5 minutes doing nothing.

Happens when going to print.coupons.com. I click the "learn more" button on the message that the plugin has crashed, and I get sent to the Adobe Flash plugin crash info page on Firefox. They say just to reload the page. There is a button for this. I click it and the page tries to reload for 5 minutes before freezing.

  • Firefox crashes with silverlight plugin.

Everytime firefox tries to open something with silverlight it crashes.
Tried the other troubleshoot suggestions but nothing seems to work.
    Problem id: 2ea0294b-9ffe-4132-b6c1-bf8962140604

Usually, there's no troubleshooting steps for Silverlight here (AFAIK) but whenever I had problems, it was solved by uninstalling Silverlight, rebooting, then re-installing Silverlight upon reboot.
I, myself, don't have problems with Silverlight as I use Linux and use Pipelight to get my Netflix up and running.
Try uninstalling, reboot, and reinstalling to see if that fixes the issue.

  • I always have a problem with the silverlight plug-in crashing when I use Firefox 3.6. What is the solution to this?

The problem occurs when I try to respond to an email or forward an attachment with an email. I always get a message that "the silverlight plug-in has crashed". I send a crash report or reload the page but it does not solve the problem.

You can try to disable Out-Of-Process-Plugins for the Silverlight plugin to see if that helps. This may however cause Firefox to crash instead.
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plugin-container_and_out-of-process_plugins

  • In using my Hotmail Windows Live e-mail account I can't upload a pic as an Attachment. In testing my Silverlight Plugin it tests okay. I've sent many "Crash Reports". Would prefer sending an e-mail to explain all aspects of this prob.

I tried doing this using my gmail email account, but there I get the msg that Firefox crashed. I use SE Aware, Spybot and Malware for securing my pc. After using each of these to do a computer scan my pc still crashes giving me that msg that my Silverlight Plugin has crashed. When I go to Mozilla Firefox to test my Plugins Silver test okay. Tomorrow I'll try another pc and report back the results.

  • Lion 10.7.4 Flash Plugin Crashes

I am using a mid 2009 Macbook pro, and just updated to 10.7.4. Since doing this my Flash plugin crashes on both Safari and Firefox so I can't even load Youtube videos.
I've got the most updated version of Firefox and Flash player, and after looking through forums have tried rebooting my Macbook several times. Each time I reboot Youtube videos load a little bit more without crashing, but I havn't got more than 5 seconds into a video yet.
    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Hi...
    Quit your browsers.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Storage tab. Click: Delete All
Now uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Very important to uninstall the currently installed plugin first.
Launch Safari From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
    Now try a video.
BTW... if you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to:  Open in 32 bit mode  is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.

  • I have updated everything there is to update on my computer (firefox and adobe) but yet I'm still getting a plugin crash report. What should I do now?

When I try to watch any TV episode (the one I am currently trying is ABC's Modern Family) on my computer it starts and within 5 seconds the screen shows up that says "Adobe Flash Plugin Has Crashed". I then send the crash report and reload the page only for the same thing to happen. I have gone to your Mozilla Plugin Check page and updated all the plugins. I also updated Firefox. I have updated everything that there is to update on my computer but yet I am still getting the crash page. The odd thing is that when I got to sites such as ABC the video in the upper corner plays with no problem. It is when I click on the episode that it says it has crashed.
