SIM Card Going Bad?

I'm currently on military duty in the middle of nowhere and my phone is struggling to find any kind of connection to the network. I cut it on Airplane Mode to conserve battery and keep it cool; as I've noticed it gets hot from constantly searching for a connection. Now I get repeated messages of "No SIM Card. No Service." I keep turning off my phone and turning it back on but I'm not sure how long this will work. I've unfortunately got at least another 48 hrs in the field before I can get to a Verizon Store, which unfortunately are usually all those "Authorized Retailers" that don't do jack without reaching into your wallet. Does this mean I need a new phone? Does Asurion cover this? Thanks in advance.

First and foremost, thank you for your service. Now, I say we do you a favor and provide our own form of service.
In regards to what you're experiencing, this could be caused by a few different variables. Based on your duties, being in the "middle of nowhere" may present a factor that where your device does struggle for service, maybe get warmer, and possibly even present you with an error like "No SIM card" (as this is not a known issue with your phone). Next, it could very well be that you just need a new SIM. Stop by any of our corporate locations for a replacement http://bit.ly/3SdsA . If that doesn't solve matters, we may need to look into a replacement phone. As long as there is no physical or liquid damage, we'd look into replacing your device under the manufacturer's warranty for free. If device damage was noticed Asurion would be an option.

  • New MSI X1900XT Card going bad and losing 6600 cards

    I just got my X1900XTX card and put it in my system, It ran great and really fast, Well it did for one night that is.
    While reading the forum the next morning I started getting little dash lines in collums across my screen. I checked the temps and even reloaded the drivers but the issue did not go away. WoW I can't beleive this is going on.
       In the past two months I have put together systems for some of the men here at the base and they had me put in 6600 for them, and almost the same thing has been going on. Or they just stop working all together.
      The power supplys are large enough 500 watt and up. K8 Diamond Plus Mother Boards on most. Cooling is working and temps are in range.
       I am asking if anyone else is seeing this? Or know anything about it?
     I called MSI Tech support and they said that the X1900XTX is not good and that I will have to send it back, and MSI so far has replaced the cards with no issue but I am not happy about having to send so many cards back. 
       They had us send the 6600's back and they where replaced .
       I am trying to see if there is a pattern here or if there is something that I do not know that I need to be doing so this will not happen. I do not know what that would be as I am not doing nothing strange or OC'ing the cards .
     Any Info would be great if anyone knows anything on these cards, and about the X1900XTX's I want to know because if they are not working well I do not want them for my system or to put on anyone elses as they cost so much and people do not like to have to wait for  a few weeks to use there system after paying so much for a highend card.
       I use MSI hardware on about 98% of my systems as I like there product, this is not a slam on MSI but I do need to know if there is a issue on some hardware as I cannot afford to replace cards for people that do not work.

  • Horizontal lines on imac display, video card going bad?

    I have horizontal lines and a triangular shaped artifact on my 24 inch Imac display. This happens after quite awhile of use, so I am thinking it might be the video card is about to go. Also, have issues with viewing flash videos, the browser (safari) will just quit responding, sometimes it will recover. Most times I have to reboot the machine. I believe all these syptoms are related. Any ideas?

    Your graphic card is damaged. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is to take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller to get the computer repaired.
    Both problems may be related, because Flash uses the graphic card and it often fails

  • Replacing SIM card in iphone

    My SIM card was bad and I was given a new one by AT&T and now my phone won't sync...any ideas?

    I had to get a new sim card as well (my work was using blackberrys, so I had to switch right after I got the iphone - now we can use what we want). In order to reactivate the phone, I was told I needed a new sim card. I went to AT&T and got the new sim card, put it in the phone, and put the phone in the cradle. It just shows up in my itunes as my phone, with no option to "reactivate", nor does it ask it this is a new phone or a backup.

    currently clear and ok.  Could my screen be going bad after only four years?  output resolution this after was poor no better than a PC jr of the 80's went in and recheck my perferences and they seem all in order.  Only thing I can come up with is a video card going bad or screen malfunction.  Going to take in to genius bar.  I Don't think I have any malware on it.  Anybody with any ideas.  Need this machine to complete my college courses in photoshop and illustrator.  Only have 2 gigs of memory but that has worked fine up till today.  Occasionally screen is darken on the edges till I jump into a program or the internet.  Thanks for any suggestions  Douglaswilliams1@mac .com

    My iphone came today and somewhat frustrated at this point. The slot that shows where the sim card goes is the slot for the usb cord/recharer. Is this really where the card goes and if so, do I have to take it out each time I recharge the phone.     If the receipt says "unlocked" (and not "SIM free") then it will work anywhere in the world that there is a GSM network. However, if it ever needs repair you will have to take it back to France.

    Well, if you did it yourself, then there is a chance that you damaged some other component inside the device that is causing your issue. The iPhone's are not user serviceable, and once you have opened the device you have voided any warranty and post-warranty support from Apple. I would try Google to see if you can find any other way to repair your device, as Apple will no longer look at it.

    You can't activate any GSM iPhone without a valid sim card installed. So, yes, you'll need a sim card to activate the phone. The sim itself need not be activated, but it must be valid & present. While you can remove it, after the phone is activated, I recommend you don't. If you ever need to restore the phone, or update the iOS, you'll need a sim card installed to do so.

  • Is my Video Card/Display going bad??

    My display has 30-50 vertical columns, from top to bottom, across the screen. Within each column, are numerous vertical lines, like bar codes, that are pink in color. This situation happens at start up before any applications are opened. The computer(apps) works like normal, mail, safari, etc, except these lines are always in my view, on the desktop or window/page. If I "grab" a page to move it , then the whole page turns pink. If I click off of the page and then return, the page looks normal again, except for the columns of pink, vertical bars.
    Is this my display going bad or video card?? I have the ATI Radeon X850 XT video card. If it's the video card , do I replace with a new old stock (ATI Radeon X850 XT) or can I replace with a newer, better card??

    Sounds very much like a baked graphics processor.
    Have you tried cleaning the dust from the card?
    Is the fan on the card clean and rotating freely?
    If you are at all mechanically inclined, removing the fan and reapplying thermal compound is worth a try before laying out serious cash.
    As for replacement, the X850XT was the top card ever offered by Apple.
    It is also THE most rare.
    Because of this, they command high prices:

    Provide you can buy pre-payed GSM micr-sim cards in the domain to which you are travelling.
    IF you can't then your either going to pay ATT huge amounts for international roaming or will have to find a free/low cost or public open WiFi hotspot.
