SIM card missing or invalid in Lumia 920

Hi!
I've seen a couple of similar posts but found no answer to my question so please let me tell you my story:
I bought a brand new unlocked and unbranded Nokia Lumia 920 (got it from the UK to be used in Ireland). I ordered a micro SIM from Tesco Mobile and when I inserted I got the message "SIM card missing or invalid", I thought that this may be due to the card not being active yet but when I put the card on a different phone first I was requested to enter the PIN and then I was advised that the card wasn't active, in the 920 it was just "SIM card missing or invalid".
I activated the SIM and transferred my number, put it on the 920 and again "SIM card missing or invalid", back to the old Nokia and working. So it had to be the phone but it was new so I ordered Micro SIMs from every possible company, until now LycaMobile and 48 have not worked but Meteor has, I've tried at least two SIMs of every company that failed to work the first time. Some of them were active, some not, some of them were empty some already had a number, as said only 48 worked and works from day 1.
I noticed that the chip on the SIM was a different size, I mean, all SIMs are micro SIMs the same size, but the Meteor one has a smaller chip (the copper part where the info is stored), I checked all the other SIMs that I had in the house and some of the older SIMs had smaller and some larger chips but until today I had been able to swap them all in my old phones with no problem.
I started looking for information online and tried the hard reset, it didn't work, I read then that I should use the card for a while in a different phone so that the SIM was perfectly connected to the network, I did so with one of the Tesco Mobiles SIM but when I tried it in the 920 "SIM card missing or invalid", I am thinking now of updating the software but I don't know if this will solve anything.
Any ideas? Anybody experienced the same issue and was able to find a solution?

No idea but the fact that most of the other sims don't when I know for a fact that they all do because I've used them all. Perhaps there is a pin slightly out of place and for some reason it catches the meteor sim but not the others. I can't think of anything else.
Just something to check. If you goto Settings>Extras+info>More info>Mobile operator, do you have 000-GB?

Without contract is not the same as unlocked. The update to iOS 7 relocked
the iPhone to the wireless carrier to which it was originally locked. You must
contact that wireless carrier to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
If you used jailbreak or other hack to unlock the iPhone initially, the method
used may prevent a legitimate unlock from succeeding and may render your
iPhone unuseable.

That usually means your phone is locked to a different phone carrier than the one you're trying to use.
YOu would need to conact the carrier the phone is locked to and see if they can unlock it for you. ONly the carrier that the phone is locked to is authorized to unlock it.

Missing features on Nokia Lumia 920

Aftter seven months, and some teething problems, I am generally very happy with the Lumia 920 but there are some important features from earlier models which have been lost, making the Lumia 920 more difficult to use than necessary.
Profiles: the ability to set tones, ringing volume, alerts, etc for everyday, meetings and occasions when silence is needed has been lost. Each of these options has to be separately configured every time
Bluetooth on/off on the home screen. Now I have to open Settings when getting in and out of the car and scroll down to Bluetootch
Text editing: it is impossible to position the cursor between letters in a word.
No FM radio: there is internet radio available for use when in wifi range but FM radion would be much more useful
No support for apps that record voice conversations or voice calls.
I doubt that the elimination of these features saved any real money. The loss of profiles is a real bummer.

there are third party apps to create connectivity tiles, and probably WP8 will have this feature in GDR3

didn't you get the amber update yet? FM radio is enabled by amber GDR2+amber update

Sim Card Missing

Purchased a new compaq mini net book with a 4G plan. When computer got here I could not set up wireless because "Sim card not installed." Since this was a new device on my existing plan (I have two 3G plans already) I thought that the sim card would be included. naturally customer service is experiencing a heavy call volume, and on line chat is unavailable, so what do I do. it was a gift and we cannot access the internet. can I buy a sim card at a local v erizon store.

Check all the packaging, I suspect it is in there somewhere. It is a very small thing ya break off of a small piece of plastic

The iPhone needs to be unlocked officially by the carrier to which it was locked.
Ask the person who gave you the iPhone to have it unlocked by the carrier.

What if I missed some updates on Lumia 920?

Hi there,
I've seen some updates available, a few days ago...yet during the update process my WiFi crashed.
After this experience, those updates are no longer available. Would it pe possible that I've simply missed them or will those updates be again available in the next days?

My iPhone 5 says SIM card missing. This happens several times a day and the phone will not work.

Power the iPhone off first and try removing and reinserting the SIM card.
If no change after that, contact your carrier to request a new SIM card.
If no change after that, call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

Microsoft Lumia 920 Windows Phone 10 Technical Preview no network (with active sim card)

I updated the Nokia Lumia 920 to windows phone 10 last night and now doesn't recognise the sim card EE (T mobile uk) which is inserted inside it. What can I do to fix this?
I have tried resetting the phone this improved the network WIFI connection. But the phone still didn't recognise the SIM card.

Then, according to sfc /scannow, it stated: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios."
At this point. I may attempt to install the ISO on a flash drive, and perform a repair on the OS, unless you have some other advice! Thanks for your help!

Lumia 920: Incoming calls are missing sound

For a couple of days all incoming calls have been missing sound. After some trial and error I found that this can be fixed by placing the call briefly on hold and then taking it off hold. Outgoing calls have sound normally. This would indicate that some setting for incoming calls has not been properly reset. How can this issue be fixed? The phone has been restarted several times.
My phone is Lumia 920 with the latest Portico update installed (the problems actually started before the update and continued after it).

Have you tried a factory reset? OR even changing your sim card..

I just got a Nokia Lumia 920 in white and when I tried to open the SIM card tray to put in my SIM card, the tray went flying and I can't find it. Does anyone know how to get a replacement tray? I have a great phone that I can't use so I'm freaking out right now. Nokia customer service said all parts are sold on Amazon. Not true because this one is not. Tried eBay and Google search to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

As a new model parts will still be very scarce and one source was quoting me 3 week wait for a screen replacement.

If i turn my phone off for a while and turn it back on, I will have service for a couple of minutes. And then it says failure SIM or invalid SIM or no SIM. Then I have no service and can only use my phone with wifi making it no better than a ipod

Could be a bad SIM card or an iPhone hardware problem.
Try a new SIM card first. You can get a new SIM card at an ATT retail store. After explaining the problem, there should be no charge for the new SIM card.
If no change after that, call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

I updated my iphone 4 to iOS 7.0.2 and iTunes 11.1.1 but have not been started yet due to pops up a message " INVALID SIM CARD" though sim is active as well as pin is unlocked. Need your feedback soon.

Remove the current sim, clean the contacts, re-install the sim.
Contact your wireless provider and get a new sim.
Has the iPhone been previoulsy jailbroken or modified to work with
other than the original provider?
