Sim Card Not Supported - Brand New iPhone 3GS

Hi Guys!
I won an iPhone in a competition and have just put my O2 sim card (that was previously in my iPhone 3G) in and when trying to activate it, I am getting an error from iTunes saying...
The sim card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
Here is a screenshot... http://twitpic.com/1uvazb
Any advice?

Okay, so I have found out that it was supposed to be on Orange. Is there any way that I can get it across to O2, legally? I don't want to mess around with Jailbreaking etc.

  • Sim card not supported after unlock iphone 5c

iphone 5c, 12.7 GB, version 8.1.1, after unlocking when i connect it to itunes w/ other sim, sim card not supported error registered,. i check it to IMEI and its unlock, but why icant use it? I try to restore to itunes and erase my iphone nothing works, what can i do?

How was the phone unlocked?  Was it unlocked by your previous carrier?  The only way to unlock your phone is to have your previous carrier unlock it for you.
If you phone was unlocked in any other way, this constitutes hacking or jailbreaking and your phone will not work with another sim card.
Get the phone unlocked properly by your carrier and there is no reason why it should not work.

  • I installed new 6.0.1 os it is done succesfully but after that insterted my sim it is showing sim card not supported any one plz help me

i installed new 6.0.1 os it is done succesfully but after that insterted my sim it is showing sim card not supported any one plz help me

That message occurs when updating a phone that was hacked to be used with your network.  Upgrading the phone has re-locked it to it's rightful carrier.  You will need a SIM from the original carrier to proceed.

  • How can I get a Brand New iPhone 3GS as a warranty replacement phone?

    4/26/2011
Does anyone how I can get a brand new iPhone 3GS as a warranty  replacement for my iPhone 3GS? I already had the phone replaced once with a refurbished phone that has a problem with becoming frozen and unresponsive. This occurred ten times since I got the phone on 4/16/2011. I have tried doing a hard reset and have also restored the phone as a new device. I have an Apple Care plan. I am concerned that the refurbished phones will not be reliable due to my experience with the refurbished  one that I got as a replacement.
    Thanks!

Thanks very much for your reply! I have a Genius Bar appointment today maybe they can test the phone to see if they can determine whether or not it is defective.
    Thanks Again!

  • I phone blocked! Sim card not supported!

I phone blocked! Sim card not supported!
Recently bought an Iphone here in the Republic of Congo for about $600 and it was working fine until an update on Itunes. Now the phone just shows a USB cable and I tunes logo. When I connect the phone to Itunes it wants to restore and update, but then just blocks the phone again.

Who did you by the phone from? Apple? A telecom company? Ebay?
The phone was most likely jailbroken and unlocked. Applying the latest firmware updated undid that.

  • My Next 3G SIM Card doesnt fit my new iphone 4. What am I to do?

My Next 3G SIM Card doesnt fit my new iphone 4. What am I to do?

The iPhone 4 requires a micro sim. You can either try cutting yours or seeing if your provider offers micro sims. There are instructions on the net about how to cut full size sims, as well as tools to do so.

  • SIM Card Not Supported.  Never Hacked iPhone Bought From Apple Store!

My 3GS was stolen yesterday. I have my never hacked iPhone 2G that I wanted to re-activate so I went down to the ATT store and they gave me a new sim to put in and activate. iTunes says that the SIM is not supported. Went back and tried another SIM and no luck. After 2 hours at the store still no working phone.
I never hacked the phone, just always updated it with the latest apple software. It sat in a drawer for a year now until my 3GS was stolen. Restore didn't help.
    ANY IDEAS?

Mmmm...the sim you're trying to use is activated, correct? If so, try this:
See if you can force the phone into recovery mode:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. You, of course, would chose "new".

  • IPhone 4 Sim Card not supported Help!

I bought an iPhone 4 off someone under the impression that it was UNLOCKED due to the fact that is had no Network on the box (unlike other iPhones i've had)
but when taking my o2 Sim out of 1 iPhone and putting it into my newer one, iTunes was saying that the Sim was not supported,
so im obviously guessing that the iPhone is actually locked to a Network....
I tried Googling the Part/Serial Number and Vodafone kept getting mentioned so might it be locked on the Vodafone Network?
    (MC604B/A)
Any help with this would be appreciated!!
I need to get this sorted asap and need my o2 Sim working in my newer iPhone before my older one has sold (on eBay)
I purchased a Vodafone MicroSim just incase i'll need 1 for whatever reason..
but is there any other way or anyone else I can talk to to get this newer iPhone accepting my o2 Sim?
I cant get onto the iPhone at all as it stays on the main emergency call page as it isn't activated!
    Thanks.

One of the big downfalls of purchasing an iPhone from a non-official source is a mess like this. Only the carrier that an iPhone is locked to can authorize the phone's official unlocking. Just about every carrier that unlocks iPhones will only do so for users active on their network. Thus, you're gonna have to establish service with the carrier this phone is locked to(after verifying they offer unlocking), then request they unlock your phone.

  • SIM card not supported for the 2nd time

My initial iphone 4 was broken beyond repair, under warranty I forked out the cash to receive a replacement. A replacement which told me my sim was not supported - receiving a replacement micro SIM from my carrier it STILL DID NOT WORK. I sent my replacement away, and received a replacement for my replacement. SIM card still not supported. SIM works fine with any other iphone 4, i've tested it on several other computers and completed full restore. Is it just me or does Apple seem to be trolling me?

I bought an iphone from o2 yesterday and got the micro sim activated today, inserted it and itunes says the sim carrier is not supported :S yet the phone is from o2 and so is the sim! And the sim works fine in a normal o2 phone when inserted with the bigger tray.
I have taken it out and put it in again but no luck! I rang o2 and they said they are sending me a replacement micro sim but i have read about the problem being in the phone (well at least it was in the 3gs)!
I'm so gutted - owned an iphone for 24 hours without using it think im going to o2 and then the apple shop tomorrow! Not at all happy...

  • Iphone 3gs - 4.3.3 - Baseband 05.16.02 - Sim card not supported problem

I recently updated my iphone 3gs to 4.3.3..Baeband changed to 05.16.02 ....It says tht NO SIM CARD SUPPORTED.. What i have to do now?

I agree with roaminggnome. It sounds like your phone was previously hacked and now that it has been updated, it was re-locked to the original carrier it was locked to.
ONLY the carrier can officially authorize an unlock.  Based on the postings here and elsewhere, it was probably locked to AT&T in the US. They will NOT unlock phones for any reason.
Where did you get the phone to begin with? If you didn't get it directly from Apple or from your carrier, odds are you got taken when you purchased a hacked phone.

  • 4.3.3 **LOCKED* Rogers iPhone 3GS, updated + restored to 4.3.5 with Rogers SIM in, "SIM card not supported"...

    Hey guys....
I just recently encountered a strange issue which no makes sense.
I have a 16GB Black iPhone 3GS **LOCKED** to Rogers, never been unlocked, was given to me by Apple as a replacement.
It was on 4.3.3 and was getting a little slow so I decided to do an update + restore to 4.3.5.
After the restore and update, iTunes gave me the "the SIM card inserted into this phone does not appear to be supported" error... so I can't get past the emergency call screen.
I tried restoring in DFU and with diff comps PLUS diff Rogers SIM cards and no dice.
Also tried restoring with/without SIM card in during restore.
Any ideas on how this has happened and how I can fix it?
It's no longer under warranty so I know I can't go to the Genius Bar, even though technically it's their faulty phone...

I would still take it to the Genius Bar and see what they say.  Worst case scenario, since it's out of warranty, they'll offer you an out of warranty exchange, which will roughly be 200 Canadian dollars.

  • 3GS iOS4.1 new sim card not supported

Hi guys, I own a PAYG iPhone that was bought direct from apple. I have been using it on O2 for the last year but I have just signed up for a Vodafone contract. I received my new sim card and put it in, it now goes to the emergancy calls pages and itunes says that the sim card is not supported.
The phone has never been jailbroken or anything in anyway. I have tried restoring the phone and this has made no difference.
Tried the sim in another phone and it worked fine.
    Any ideas?

    Doesn't sound like it.
I would contact O2 to determine if your pay-as-you-go iPhone that was used with O2 over the last year is carrier locked with O2. If the iPhone is carrier locked with O2, it will be up to O2 to unlock the iPhone.
If you specially requested an unlocked iPhone when purchased from the Apple store which is the most expensive, you need to contact the Apple store.

  • Brand new iPhone 3GS 32GB, put sim card in, turned on, Slide for Emergency.

I just bought an iPhone 3GS with 32GB black, I used the pin to eject the sim card socket, and put the sim card in.then i pressed the silver power button at the top right corner for 3 seconds, it turned on with the gray apple. Then it comes to "Slide for emergency" with this itunes icon.
    Now what do I do?

Ok seems to work. Thanks very much. Connecting to iTunes solved the problem. I presume I was one of the few cases where the iPhone didn't work without being hooked up to a computer first.
(I had read reports about this happening to people after they had upgraded, or 'jailbroke' their phone, but since I had done neither of these things, I was worried)
All iPhones have to be activated through iTunes. Usually it is done at the store when you buy it.

I'm having same problem here. I can't live without my iphone, even my alarm is in my phone(kinda afraid that i can't wake up tomorrow). My phone is no longer in guarantee,so I don't think I can bring it to apple store. So,anyone please help me,I really need my phone

  • Upgraded iphone 4 firmware from 4.3.3 to 5.01 and now it says sim card not supported now

i just upgraded my iphone 4 firmeware from 4.3.3 to 5.0.1 and after it restarted it says that the sim card doese not appear to be supported.  i already went to the att store and they inserted a new card and tried to activate it and it says the same thing.  my phone work great before the upgrade to the firmware and i read that lots of other people have had the same problem and brought there pnones into an apple store and had them replaced due to the faulty upgrade. what can you do for me

This is a user to user help forum only, so no one here can do anything for you except provide recommendations.
Have you tried restoring your iPhone with iTunes?
If so with no change, make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.
