SIM card on Macbook Air

I hope Apple considers inserting a SIM card into the Macbook Air. It will allow access to Net in absence of WiFi, the availability still remains confined to few spots. The 11" inch device will be a better bet than even the Ipad.

Yes, majority of USB dongles will be mac compatible, often having a drivers available on the actual USB stick, or downloadable from manufacturer website. You're probably best contacting your network provider for best offer.
Alternatively, you can create wireless hotspot on your iphone and connect your macbook to it. That way you are using your phone's internet connection on the macbook.

  • Sim cards and macbook air

Ok.  So when I bought my MacBook Air, the Apple store sold me a contract with the 3 Network for broadband access.  They sent me a sim card.  It does not fit.  Can anybody advise please?

you will need to buy a USB attachment to place the sim card in.

  • Slow USB Card Reader - MacBook Air / Windows 7 64-bit / Boot Camp 3.2

Installation of Windows 7 64-bit on my new MacBook Air 11" seemed to go flawlessly from the attached USB SuperDrive. I see no driver issues or unrecognized devices in Device Manager. However, when attaching my Transcend USB 2.0 Compact Flash card reader to load pictures from my camera into Lightroom 3.3, data transfer is mega-SLOW. It takes several minutes (10?) to transfer just 4 pictures. It seems like it may be operating at USB 1.0 speeds.
Installing software from the SuperDrive on the same USB port seems to work fine. Attaching a USB mouse works fine. However, the USB card reader is very, very slow.
If I attach the same card reader, CF card, and cable to another Windows 7 machine, it works fine, so I don't think there's a problem with my reader / card / cable.
Any thoughts about how I might improve performance for the card reader on the MacBook Air (other than running Mac OS)?
    Thanks!

  • USB TV Tuner Card for Macbook Air

    Dear all,
Hello! i'm using a Macbook Air (mid-2012) 11.6". i'm in need of a USB tv tuner card. Which brand i should choose?
Please note that, Gadmei is the most available brand in our country. is it possible to use this brand of tv tuner (USB) with Macbook air? OS is- MacOSX 10.9.2 (mavericks). Please suggest.
Also plz tell me is there any way to use Gadmei or RealMedia TV tuner with mac without official mac driver? (i mean using EyeTV or such third-party TV app)
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.

Unfortunately most of these TV devices require USB2 bandwidth so are not suitable for the iMac G3.
The Firewire versions (EyeTV 310, 410 and 610 depending on input type) are the only options.
The EyeTV 250 is an analogue only Tuner that does work on USB1.1 but in a low quality mode only.

  • Sim card of ipad air

If I bought ipad air wifi with cellular version, can I insert my sim card of iphone5?

Most carriers have two different types of accounts, one kind of cell phones and one kind for tablets. It is unlikely that your iPad will work with a SIM configured for an iPhone account.

  • SIMS ON A MACBOOK AIR??

I have sims 2 disks. And i recently got a macbook air which i realised doesnt have a disk holder thing. I dont want to illegally download it. Does anyone have any ideas so i can play it on my laptop?? Someone suggested doing something and ichatting it, but id dont know how? Can someone please help me thanks (in advance)

I'm sure any external USB powered superdrive would be sufficient, you do not have to purchase an Apple one.  I would just google "external USB powered cd/dvd drive".

  • The Sims 4 for Macbook Air

I have the 13 inch Macbook Air and I have NEVER played the Sims on my Macbook before or my other laptop. I need to understand how this Origin thing works because I know that it says you need that to play The Sims. The point is that my Macbook does not have a disk drive to put the disk in. Once The Sims 4 comes out, what do I need to do in order to get The Sims 4 for my Macbook? Please help and also by informing me how this Origin process works. Thanks for your support!

EA has no updates on bringing the Sims 4 to the Mac. If and when it does you will be able to download the game to your computer. No disk drive needed.

  • Installing the Sims 3 on MacBook Air.

I tried to install the sims 3 on my new MacBook Air 11", but it keeps getting stuck with 7 minutes left, 486 of 517 files left to copy. I chose the proposed HDD.
    Do you know any solution?
    Thx

I would refer to the EA Games site and review the minimum system requirements for the Sims 3. They recently launched Origin for Mac which I believe sells Sims 3. Good luck!

  • SD 16GB card with MacBook Air

My SD 16gb (photo) card is fully functional in the slot on my iMac, but it hardly functions with my MacBookAir 11-inch when I use the USB 2.0 high speed card reader I have used successfully on other machines. Is it a problem with MacOS 10.9.2?
    Any advice?

    reinsert the SD card
check for it being  shown in disk utility
To show SD card on desktop
go into FINDER at top then PREFERENCES  then GENERAL tab
then check "hard disks" and "external disks"

  • Has VZW updated the security on the SIM cards?

I came across this post on Symantec's Blog regarding *most* SIM cards today use the weaker 56-bit DES private key.  It can be cracked within a few minutes using rainbow tables.
It says to check with your provider asking if they filter OTA messages on their network, and/or using stronger encryption.  Both of my phones use SIM cards.

  • MacBook Air & Sims 3??

I have NO knowledge whatsoever on computer terms and things like that... but my laptop is getting really old, and I'm planning on buying a MacBook to replace it very soon. I was wondering if anyone knew if the highest end MacBook Air could handle playing Sims 3?

Well, yes. The Sims 3 is pretty intense on graphics, but the MacBook Airs have excellent graphic cards. The 11 inch model should handle it just fine, so you can really run it on anything. The MacBook Air is designed for portability but yet power as well.
Specs for the Sims 3 were probably still written mostly for HDD drives. Remember, the MacBook Air uses a SSD drive. This means that the drive does not spin, and it is mounted on the logic board just like the iPad and iPhone. Because the computer can access its data faster through the hard drive, the processor does not have to be quite as powerful. Apple wouldn't make it if it wasn't awesome.
The one thing I would recommend is RAM. Try to max out your RAM as much as you can depending on which Mac you get, especially because what you get on the MacBook air is what you're stuck with. Meaning that you cannot go back and add RAM later. Everything on the MacBook Air except batteries and speakers are built directly onto the Logic Board.
    Good Luck!
