Sim City 4 For Mac or Windows?

I just ordered my new Intel Macbook and was wondering will Sim City 4 for PC work on it or will I have to buy the Mac version? I dont want to use bootcamp or parallels. The salesman at my local Apple store said that the PC version should work on the mac without bootcamp or parallels since the new macs have intel chipsets and Sim City 4 was designed for Intel chips. Just wanting to make sure that this was the truth before buying the game. Also does the Mac version run slower because of Rosetta or does it run fine?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sim City 4 for Windows will not work on any Mac without Bootcamp or Parallels. The salesman at the Apple store is misinformed. Anything for Windows will not work on a Mac unless you run it on Windows with Bootcamp or Parallels.
As for Sim City 4 for Mac, it will run slower, both because of the limited graphics capabilities of the MacBook and because it will have to run under Rosetta. Although, looking in your signature and seeing you have 2GB RAM, it won't be too bad.

I am interested in purchasing Adobe's Creative Suite 6 Master Collection for Mac and Windows (Single User Educational License) FOR STUDENTS & EDUCATORS ONLY. I am purchasing this program for my son who attends George Washington High School: The College Academy in New York, New York. He is a sophomore and is interested in web design. I would like to know if he is eligible to use/activate the Creative Suite 6 Master Collection for Mac and Windows (Single User Educational License) FOR STUDENTS & EDUCATORS ONLY prior to my purchase.

Peru Bob makes a good point.  I just assumed the OP understood what the System requirements | Adobe Creative Suite 6 were.

  • How to install "turbotaxdeluxe2010"for mac or window on linux?

I bought "turbotaxddeluxe2010" for Mac or Windows by mistake and would like to insstall it in"ubuntu"(linux}. Is it possible?
turbotax2020 website said it could be done if it is downloaded online from mozilla fire fox

Download MS Office for Mac 2011 from Microsoft, use it for 30 days, and if you like it purchase a product key. Alternately you can buy a disc with the activation code from Amazon, MacMall, or a number of other online retailers (generally for $30-50 less than what Microsoft charges).

I have a Samsung Chromebook; which do I download -- for Mac or Windows?

From what I have read, you can use neither of those option.  Google Chrome OS is a completely different animal and you would need to check on the chrome website for apps that are available for use with it.

    Hey there,
As long as you purchase the Mac Version, everything should work great. I recently purchased the game, and have had no problems with it whatsoever. So go ahead and purchase it and have fun. Best of luck!

  • The Sims 2 for Mac vs The Sims 2 for Windows?

    Hi,
I've recently purchased a new aluminum imac (2.8ghz, 4gb ram, 500gb hd, 24") and i wanted to know which would be my best option for playing the sims 2?
    Should I:
    a) buy windows xp (don't want crappy vista :P) install it using bootcamp and load my Sims 2 (pc versions) on to it;
or b) swap my pc sims 2 versions for Mac versions and skip the whole xp/botcamp thing?
Is there any difference (gameplay, graphic, etc issues) between the pc and mac versions?
Will the mac version play better than the pc version using windows xp/bootcamp on my mac?
Are the Mac versions available anywhere or are there only specific places that sell the mac versions? (I live in Australia, btw)
Also, any other handy hints regarding the two options would be super!
    Thanks in advance,
    Tara

    a) iPersonally see no point in buying a license of window and installing it on my Mac, too much tie and effort. Also, iAm not going to put windows ANYWHERE NEAR my iMac. Lastly, there are some issues with windows itself running on a Mac, but not system endangering ones, just things like sound and drivers.
    b) There will be little difference, The Sims 2 is ported by the AWESOME people down at Aspyr and other then the patches being released later than the windows version iSee no point in installing windows just for The Sims, buy the Mac Version! Although it will be costly as the games cost quite a bit and there are tons of expansions you may need to replace.
    c) iWould think that the Mac version would work better than Bootcamp+Sims because you have one less software compatibility to worry about, also you avoid all the crashing of windows.
d)Tons of stores sell Mac games, Apple Stores for one! In fact the Apple Store Online has free shipping on [just] The Sims 2, but not the expansions, live near an Apple Store?
Try looking online for your major electronics store's site, chances are if they sell Macs (and are thus Apple Resellers) they carry Mac Software and games too!
    Hope that helps!

  • Can i use microsoft office for mac on windows 7 installed on macbook pro?, can i use microsoft office for mac on windows 7 installed on macbook pro?

I have recently installed Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro (2011). I have also recently got Microsoft office for Mac 2011. Can somebody please advise if it is possible to use (install) office for mac 2011 on this windows 7 that i have installed. If possible, how to do it?

    No it is not possible.
You can use office for mac, on OSX, but not on windows.
You need to use the windows version, on windows 7.

  • How to use an external hard drive and copy files to the disk for mac and windows??

please tell me how to copy files to external hard disk and use it for both mac and windows. there is the fat32 formatting bt i dont wanna use formatting because i already have a lot of content on the exteral hard disk. thank you.

It is simplest to have the HDD formatted to noe common to both Mac an PC.  ExFAT is one.  But to do that will erase all data on the HDD.
If the HDD id formatted NTFS, Mac can read but not write to it.  The solution then is to use a third party application such as Paragon or Tuxera which will overcome that obstacle.  These applications do have mixed reviews.
    Ciao.

  • Font compatibility with Office (for Mac and Windows)

    Hi,
Despite extensive searching, I'm struggling with a font compatibility issue between my Mac and my colleagues' PCs. The main points in order:
The fonts work correctly on both my Mac and other PCs.
The font in question is HelveticaNeueLT Std, rolled up into which are several different weights. The files are OTF files. The same files install without any problems on all the computers in question (and show up in Font Book). And the font can be used successfully:
    - in Keynote, I select Helvetica Neue LT Std, and underneath choose whichever weight I want
    - on PCs, the font and weight can be selected from the drop-down list in MS Office.
    - in Office for Mac 2016 (Preview), I cannot select the font from the drop-down list, but can hit Cmd+T, and then select the appropriate font and weight under 'Latin text font'. What is odd is that in the dropdown list, only a particular weight/typeface is shown:
As this is a preview version, I wouldn't expect Office to work perfectly just yet...
When a file is created on a PC, it works fine on my Mac.
Every file I have attempted to open that was created on a PC, and using these fonts, works fine. The fonts display correctly (i.e. including the correct weights), and I can work with the document without any problems. The only odd bit: sometimes in the dropdown box on my Mac it then says (null):
Whereas at other times, the font name shows correctly:
Both of those examples were created using the 'Thin' weight of HelveticaNeueLt Std. I can't see any pattern as to what causes this inconstency.
The problem is that what I create on my Mac shows incorrectly on a PC.
If I create anything using Office 2016 or Keynote, selecting the preferred weight as described above, it shows just fine on my Mac. But when I send the PPTX file to a PC, all weights look identical (it looks as though the PC has just displayed everything in a standard weight). This is the problem I am trying to solve.
To try to get around this, I tried the process of removing the Helvetica/Helvetica Neue .dfont files that come with the Mac - but this didn't work and caused several other problems. Besides, the font I'm trying to get to use as intended has a different name.
All help would be greatly appreciated - my thanks in advance.
    John

Thanks Kappy and apologies if it is inappropriate - but just to clarify, my main question is whether fonts used in Keynote should be compatible with other software (in this case Office running on Windows). The Office for Mac Preview is a bit of a red herring but I thought it should be mentioned.
I tried to clarify my first post, but it didn't work. What I wanted to add was simply whether Keynote handles fonts in a way that other pieces of software struggle to read - despite the font itself working perfectly in both environments.
