Sim Free 6280

I'm thinking of getting a 6280 and wanted to know if anyone has a sim free one.
I've read that the ones on the 3 network have been having problems and wondered if sim free one's have the same problems or not.
Also which firmware version should I be looking for, as I don't know if it is different on a sim free version than the 3 network version.

Not sure if this phone is available on networks other than Three at the moment.
Don't know what version to look out for, as you said, may be Three's version that is having problems, but as the phone is only out on Three, there's no way of knowing how Nokia is setting the Version numbers for the phones.

Trying to use 3 SIM card in SIM-free 6260

Hi there. My Nokia 6280 has to be sent back to Three for repair, so I'm trying to get my Three SIM card to work in my old Nokia 6260, which I bought SIM free so is not tied to any particular network. When I boot up it just gives me the error "SIM card rejected". Is this because my 3 SIM is a newer design that is not compatible with the 6260, or are all SIMs interchangeable? Is it because my 3 SIM is faulty? (it works fine in my 6280). Is there any other unblocking I need to do to get it to work? Any help much appreciated. Cheers

Indeed, all common complaints with the 6280 on 3 UK.
Most of them are network related regardless of what 3 say in my opinion.
Calls on a 3G network require more power than on GSM, which can cause the heat issues, temperamental reception is due to the handset always seeking the strongest signal be it 3G or GSM and can cause the battery problems as well. You can't lock it to GSM only mode because 3 have disabled the option on the handset because when you roam on to their 2G partner network which at the moment is o2 and is soon to be Orange it costs 3 money.
Anyways, the latest firmware version is 5.92 and does fix plenty of common 6280 problems, however I am not 100% sure if 3 UK have clear it for use on their 6280's. Something for you to enquire about at the service centre.

Sim free is not enough, you can use different sim if it's unlock.

Apple can do nothing. As Tim said, only the carrier to whom the iPhone is locked can authorize unlocking. You must contact that carrier.

The iPhone4 and 4S use a microsim about half the size of the normal sim
You would have to get replacements for your old sims to use a iPhone4/4S
and no unlocked is unlocked will work anywhere with a GSM sim
people use jailbreaking to get round not having an unlocked iPhone

you can reserve the night before online so you don't have a wasted journey

They will sell you one with a contract but you will have to go through a contract sign up process etc etc so there is no scope for error

Look at your receipt. Does it say unlocked? It is possible to purchase both locked "sim free" and unlocked iPhones from Apple.
ONLY the carrier an iPhone is locked to can legitimately unlock it.
IF your receipt says that it was supposed to be unlocked, and it is not, call AppleCare. They should be able to straighten it out.

You jailbroke it. You've forfeited your right to support from Apple and on these forums. More than likely, the jailbreak is what caused the problem in the first place.

Hello I am from Pakistan and am currently in UK. I want to buy a Z10 from here which i will use back home. Some questions please. 1. Can i use the sim free phone with my mobile operator in pakistan, without a hassle. Last thing i want is I buy the phone, and it doesnt work back home 2. Carphone warehouse is providing a 2 year warranty. Is this an international warranty? There is no blackberry shop in Pakistan but there are in Dubai. Blackberry Z10 are global ready handsets, u can use it easily. Firsy of all go to setting and then tap to security option again tap in sim card. See if device network is not locked to spcific carrier thhen it must be unlocked. And unlocked handsets are ready to use anywhere including pakistan. But the warranty remains. Only in UK.

If you buy an unlocked phone, it will work on any compatible GSM network anywhere in the world. If you buy an unlocked phone in the US, it will not work on LTE networks outside of North America. The warranty is also only valid in the country where the phone was originally sold.

I have recently bought iPhone 4s in the shop "Handy" in the Republic of Bulgary, in the city Burgas, in the "Burgs Plaza" complex. I have bought this phone for full sum, and it is modified by "M-Tel" company. This phone was bought without any contract and SIM-card.
I have tried to contact to "M-Tel" and asked them for a help, but there was no result. "Handy" also could not unlock my phone, because the operator is "M-Tel".

Only the operator to which the iPhone is locked can unlock it - nobody else (including Apple). M-Tel do offer iPhone unlocking. You will have to contact them again. http://www.mtel.bg/
If you were sold the phone as "unlocked / SIM-free" but actually were given a "locked" handset, you will need to return it to the retailer you purchased from.
