Sim free iPhone 6 - How does it work

Can someone help me understand how the sim free iPhone 6 works with all carriers? I understand how the sim card works between GSM carriers like ATT and T-mobile, but for Sprint and Version the sim is used for the LTE data network not voice. It servers a different purpose on a CDMA carrier vs GSM.
So, if you purchase the unlocked iPhone 6 can you switch back and forth between Sprint and T-Mobile? What is the process for the swap? i.e., how does the CDMA part of the phone get programed to work on the Sprint network?.

I was also told by a Sprint rep that they will activate the unlocked iPhone 6, iPad Air 2, and the new iPad Mini purchased directly from Apple, but they would not activate a device purchased from another carrier and then unlocked.

T-Mobile told me they are having this problem with iPhone 4 and until apple gives them some information on this, which they won't as iPhone 4 is not officially supported by T-mobile as it is locked to AT&T in US. Honestly? In the US (I can't speak to other countries, though I doubt it works much differently in a lot of the world) The police took your report and filed it either in their computers or, on paper. They will now not think of this again. The only time it will cross anyones mind is if, in the course of entering information into evidence about items recovered or seized at a crime scene, the serial number of an iPhone that was found/seized happens to match yours, in which case you will be contacted.
The police in the US can and will do nothing to 'blok' the phone and it's not worth their time to try and locate it unless you know for a fact that it was stolen by a big time drug lord, master criminal, or some other such prime target and they can get a court order to track the location of the phone in order to locate this individual for your own purposes. If they do that, they'll probably keep him under surveilance for a year or so before they act.
Basically, the police don't care about your phone. If they find it, they will give it back to you. They are not, however, going to go looking for it. They have better things to do.

Just reboot your laptop... While its rebooting try to reboot your phone also by holding the home and power buttonn for 10-15 seconds...When your phone is turned off try to connect it to iTunes and it will recognize your phone in recovery mode.
If you have the .ipsw file for iOS 7.0.6 saved in your desktop then in itunes press shift and click on Restore.
Select the ipsw file and let it restore.
If you dont have it downloaded then simply click on restore.

If you want to use 3G services, then yes you will need a sim card in your 3G/wifi iPad - but if you just want to use wifi and/or the GPS capability of the iPad then you don't need to activate a 3G service with it

Any unlocked iPhone should work as a GSM phone anywhere in the world. However, iPhones have additional features that will not work on networks that are not partners with Apple. The features that may not work include:
iTunes store and App Store
Visual Voicemail (almost certainly will not work)
LTE networks
3G networks
iMessage
FaceTime
MMS
GameCenter
Your Apple warranty will not be honored outside of the country of purchase. You may or may not be able to get services to fix it for a fee; I don't know if independent repair shops in Nepal can handle the iPhone. I do know that they cannot get official Apple replacement parts, so any parts that are needed will be gray market.
You might be be better off getting a phone in India; at least getting repairs and warranty service won't require traveling back to the US.

Apple does not use the term "SIM free" in any of their marketing materials. If you bought the phone at Carphone Warehouse in the UK, it will lock to the first UK carrier used to activate it. It can not be activated on a foreign network unless unlocked by the UK carrier used to activate it. Other than that, so far as I'm aware, phones are "locked" or "unlocked". I don't know of anywhere else where things are done like they are at carphone warehouse in the UK.

iCloud will not work with your computer because iCloud requires Lion. Lion requires an Intel Core 2 Duo processor or better. For you to have iCloud and PhotoStream you would need to buy a newer Mac Intel model meeting the requirements for Lion:

If you buy the phone unlocked / SIM free from Apple it will not come with a SIM.
You will need to contact Orange (how is up to you), to get a nano-SIM and then get them to transfer your phone account and number from the old SIM to the new.
With O2, you can do this in an O2 Store, over the telephone, over the internet or via text message. Perhaps it is the same with Orange. No matter what though, you'll have to contact Orange to get a nano SIM so ask them the process at the same time.
