  • If I buy a new iPhone 3GS on eBay, can I transfer the SIM card from my current iPhone 3GS into the new one and will it still work?

I have an 8GB iPhone 3GS on AT&T, and I wanted to purchase a 16GB version on eBay. Will I be able to just pop the SIM card out of the current iPhone 3GS into the new iPhone 3GS and have it work properly?

Yes, you will be able to use it provided that the 16GB version of 3GS is either factory unlocked or locked to AT&T network (in case of a carrier locked phone).

  • Airplay support on iPhone 3GS??

So I've updated to 4.2.1 on my 3GS, but I cannot find an Airplay button on my 3GS when playing video or audio. I have an iMac & 2 x AppleTVs all wireless. I can re-direct output from my iMac to either of my AppleTVs, but nothing on the 3GS...any ideas anyone? Also, although I have a shared printer the 3GS cannot find the printer either...feeling a bit like a damp squib to me at the moment...

Hi yes, Apple in their ultimate wisdom have decided to conveniently forget all of us who supported AppleTV from the outset and who shelled 3 times the amount for the tech. Funnily enough I was about to buy an AppleTV 2 for another room, now I'm not going to out of principle.
I've always laughed when Apple "stretched" the facts a bit, but this time Airplay & Airprint working with just a few clicks (but only if you've bought a new AppleTV or one of 6 HP printers??). Come on Apple, don't forget about those loyal customers who helped get you where you are today.
If Microsoft had done this the whole world would be crying foul today. Don't get me wrong here, I'll keep going with my Apple kit, but it's gonna be a while now before I buy any new hardware unless this gets fixed soon.

  • Support on iPhone 3GS

I dont understand why iPhoto needs a frontal camera for photo editing?

I suspect that it is actually the other hardware that is the limiting factor.  Specifying that a front camera is needed means it is easy for the average consumer to work out if their device is compatible or not.  I expect that it has more to do with the processor and RAM, rather than camera.

  • I want an iPhone 3gs as I currently have a nokia lumia 620 but can I use my micro sim in the 3gs

Hi i want an iPhone 3gs but can i use my micro sim or do i need a sim adapter? answer soon

The iPhone 3GS takes a standard full-size SIM. It's possible that an adapter will work, but it will probably be more reliable if you get a full-size SIM from yur cell carrier.
EDIT: I concur with Tim. The 3GS is a very old model now, as smartphones go, so I would suggest a newer model, saving up if you have to. I myself wouldn't buy anything older than an iPhone 4S at this point.
    Regards.

  • Will ios 6 support iphone 3gs?

will the new ios 6 support the iphone 3gs this autumn?

    Thanks a lot!
Also just found this at the bottom of the IOS 6 page:
"Siri is available in Beta only on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad (3rd generation), and iPod touch (5th generation) and requires Internet access. Siri may not be available in all languages or in all areas, and features may vary by area. Cellular data charges may apply."
If only Apple would find a way to make it possible to make phone calls from the iPad!
(I would´nt need the phone then!).
But anyway, the way things are going, who knows what the future will bring?!
    Greetings from Europe

  • IOS 4 - Iphone 3GS - Alpine X303 - Not supported anymore

Hi, I need serious help cause Alpine Stereos, one of the best brands that support iPhones car stereos, no longer supports my iPhone 3gs with iOS 4.
So what should I do? how do I fix this? cause Alpine doesnt have any support board.

    Hello,
Before the IOS4 I used my 3GS with an Alpine 104BTI and all was ok !
Since IOS4, my old 3GS and my iPhone4 have troubles with the Alpine :
If the iPod App is running background on the phone, then the 104BTI will not recognize the phone and the display show an "ERROR-01".
I have to kill the iPod App for the phone to be recognize. So the Alpine can't go on playing the song I was listening before get into my car and always start at the first song in alphabetical order : boring !
If I want to "shuffle song" play mode ; then the same song is repeated as if the functions "repeat" & "shuffle" were switched.

  • Why is my Iphone 3gs still receiving texts without having a sim card in it?

My daughter took her sim card out of her iphone 3gs, but the phone is still receiving text messages. The phone works, but is pretty beat up, and she is now using an older phone she has till she can upgrade.
    Thanks

Allen is most likely correct. If she is running iOS 5, then they are iMessages. Assuming she's connected to WiFi, she can still use iMessage.
Tell her to turn it off in Settings>Messages. Once she does, the messages should start going to the phone she's actually using.

  • In some countries that use the system nano sim card. It supports the iphone 5?

in some countries that use the system nano sim kart , it supports the iphone 5?

This means that the SIM card is installed on the iphone 5 ?

  • Is iPhone 3GS SIM card activation mandatory?

    I have several scenarios.
First: If I'm currently an iPhone 1st Generation user, can I use the old SIM card to use iPhone 3GS?
Second: If I'm currently an iPhone 3G user, can I use the old SIM card to use the iPhone 3GS?
Third: If I'm using the iPhone 3GS SIM card, can I use it on other phones to make calls and go online? For example iPhone 3G, iPhone 1st Generation, or any AT&T branded phones, and finally unlocked phones?
    Thanks in advance!

As long as your existing SIM is a 3G(network) SIM as the SIM cards were in the U.K, you can insert your current SIM into your 3G S, connect to iTunes, iPhone will display a message "iPhone is activated", follow the registration process through iTunes (if you wish to) then choose to set up as a new iPhone or a backup.
Let iTunes do its thing and you have a fully working iPhone 3G S.
That's what I did with my original iPhone to iPhone 3G and having bought an unsubsidized 3G S from O2 I'm still using my original SIM. It's running perfectly. MMS works, Find my iPhone works, it's fantastic. Love the rotating maps :o) roll on TomTom release!
iPhone is available in many countries, so I don't know if all carriers' SIM cards are the same as the SIM cards provided by the U.K carrier (O2).
    Hope this helps

  • @Media selector in CSS: how to tell iPhone 3Gs from iPad

    Hi all,
I have a question concerning the capabilities of the @media selector.
From what I read in the documentation, @media, in AIR, supports these parameters
    - os-platform (IOS, AND, MAC, WIN)
    - application-dpi (160 = less than 200; 240=less then 280: 320: more than 280)
how does one tell if the device is iPhone 3gs or iPad?
both are IOS, both have application-dpi less than 200 (163 for iPhone 3, 132 for iPad)
it would be useful to use max-device-width, but I guess it's not supported? it's not working for me...
    thanx!

I've just fell on my face with the same problem. Apparently, there is no way to have different styles for iPhone 3GS and iPad inside the same application. @media selector does not let you do that. It wouldn't be a big problem if we could use theme swf files the same way we use them in Flash. But we can't do that either because loading executable code (which the theme swf is) won't work on iOS due to security restrictions. Please correct me if I wrong but it means that you can't have one application binary with different styles for iPhone 3GS and iPad.
What makes it worse, it is not that easy to reorganize your project to build two applications: one for iPhone 3GS, another for iPad using the same application project and different build scripts (ant). It would be possible if we could link a theme compiled as SWC library. But it doesn't seem to work if you have references to skin classes and images in your css. At least after multiple trials I couldn't make it work.
The only solution that comes to mind is to have two application projects: one for iPhone 3GS, another one for iPad. And keep everything else in libraries. I wish I could see its coming earlier so I would organize my project that way from the beginning.
It seems like a major flaw in design of the media selector. And not just because you can't support both iPhone 3GS and iPad in one application. For the same reasons you can't have different styles for iPhone 4/4S and new high resolution iPad (both have 320 dpi screens). It would be pretty easy to fix by just adding an additional tag to the media selector.
I wish I was wrong and there is a solution for this problem already. Please share your experience if you had the same issue.

  • Not able to activate iphone 3GS after restoring

    Hi,
I got one iphone 3GS which i got unlocked by AT&T.
After unlocked from AT&T i have been asked to restore the iphone. after restoring i am not able to activate it.
I am currently in india and using one Indian SIM card to activate it.
Itunes is giving one message - There is no SIM card inserted in iphone.
Do i need to use any AT&T SIM card only yo activate iphone?

Ya, this iphone was working prior to unlocking with indian SIM Card. I tried 2-3 different SIM Card.
Someone told me that i need to use only AT&T SIM card to activate my iphone 3GS.

You have a hacked phone. You can't get help here. If you update it, you will most likely brick it. Buy a phone from a legitimate source.
