SIMBL error

Hi!!!! I need your help....I have a problem with safari. Safari quits unexpectly and appear this message : the application safari quit unexpectedly. the problem may have been caused by the flash player-10.4-10.5 plug-in. When i am trying to open again appear this message(SIMBL error. failed to load the safarisniffer plugin. error(1000) creating CGSWindow) and the safari's screen is white. Thanks!
Safari's Version 5.0.6
System
I have the Leopard and 10.5.8 version
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed:          2.4 GHz
Memory:          4 GB

Uninstall SIMBL as follows.
Select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar, then enter the following text in the box that opens:
/Library
A folder will open. From that folder, delete the items listed below. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Application Support/SIMBL
LaunchAgents/net.culater.SIMBL.Agent.plist
ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax
Log out and log back in.
Make sure you never reinstall SIMBL. It’s likely to come bundled with another modfication that depends on it. If you want trouble-free computing, avoid software that makes miraculous changes to other software, especially built-in applications. The only real exception to that rule is Safari extensions, which are mostly safe, and are easy to get rid of when they don’t work. SIMBL and its dependents are not Safari extensions.

  • SIMBL Error when opening Safari from the desk tray

I get a SIMBL Error when I open Safari from the desk tray. The error reads:
SIMBL Error: Safari 3.0.4 version 523.12 has not been tested with plugin PCB (null) (v19).
Any idea on the origin of this error? I have recently turned on parental controls -- could that have anything to do with the PCB plugin? Where do I see a list of installed Safari plugins?

The PCB error is related to a Parental Control Bar plug-in which is incompatible with the recently updated Safari
    http://www.parentalcontrolbar.org/
    To eliminate the error, ...
"This is probably installed under Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > SIMBL > Plugins > PCB.bundle. If you simply remove this, Safari should be happy. (If you installed it somewhere else, then just use Spotlight to find PCB.bundle.)" Taken from Apple Discussion Board, Topic : Safari 3.0.4: Plugin-not-loaded alert window
I have not re-installed the plug-in so cannot comment as to whether it is updated for Safari 3.04. Otherwise, error disappeared.

  • SIMBL error in Safari

I just upgraded to Leopard and am getting the following error notice when I launch Safari:
    SIMBL Error
Safari 3.0.4 (v5523.10) has not been tested with the plugin (null) (null) (v0.62). As a precaution, it has not been loaded. Please contact the plugin developer for further information.
I click OK then a Safari blank screen comes up - does not go to my default page although I have it set properly in my Safari preferences. If I then close out the screen and/or just open up another new Safari screen it then goes immediately to my default page and everything is fine.
Have verified disk utility permissions. Did not indicate there was anything to repair. Tried to find a SIMBLE plugin but nothing came up. I don't know what a SIMBL plugin is.
This is on a MacBook. I also loaded Leopard onto an iMac and didn't have this problem.
Thanks in advance for your help. Am having different issues on the iMac, but will research that later.

I think that you have AcidSearch 0.62 installed. A search on your hard drive for SIMBL will reveal the offending file; you can remove it. A newer version of AcidSearch is available (0.73) from <http://www.pozytron.com/> and it will install in a different location.

I purchased a plug in that no longer works in Safari 3.0.4. This is the message I receive when I open Safari...

  • SIMBL Error Message

Yesterday I had WildBlue satellite high speed installed. Safari worked fine except my home page was changed. After living with dial-up for years, decided to use Software Update with the highspeed. After updating Backup, QuickTime, Compatibility Update for QuickTime, iTunes and Mac OSX Update, Safari would not open to a web page. I get a SIMBL Error message-"Safari 3.0.4 (v523.12) has not been tested with the plugin (null)(null)(v0.62)" I am able to use bookmarks or enter a web page location, but would like it to automatically go to a home page when I open Safari. Can anyone tell me how to figure out which plugin is causing the problem, and how to get rid of it? Yesterday was such a big day for my little mac, that I have no idea what is causing the problem. Like I said, it seemed to work OK until I performed the software updates. Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
That mysterious plug-in ((null)(null)(v0.62)) is Acid Search.
This is probably installed under Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > SIMBL > Plugins > AcidSearch.bundle. If you simply remove this, Safari should be happy. (If you installed it somewhere else, then just use Spotlight to find AcidSearch.bundle.)
There is a new BETA version (0.7b3) of Acid Search from www.pozytron.com that avoids this error message. However, it still has bugs. For example, if you right-click (secondary button) on the URL box, it will crash Safari.
I hope a working version of Acid Search is available soon for Safari 3. I'm not a Google fan.
You should be able to set your homepage under Safari > Preferences > General. Although maybe it was just the Acid Search error that was preventing this from loading?

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks for your help I found the SIMBL directory and deleted a file called AcidSearch.Bundle which had a date of 2006, The SIMBL directory was not deleted just the file .

  • SIMBL Error after updating to 10.4.3

After updating to 10.4.3 I now get the following error message after starting Safari for the first time"
Safari 2.0.2 (v416.12) has not been tested with the plugin (null) (null) (v1.0). As a precaution, it has not been loaded. Please contact the plugin developer for further information.
Has anyone else experienced this? As far as I know, the only "plugin" I have installed for Safari is Growl's GrowlSafari, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't use anything related to SIMBL. Any thoughts?

PithHelmet was another plugin that was not loaded and for which Safari through up that error message. With many of the Safari updates, many plugins and some utilities such as Safari Enhancer also need to be updated and it usually takes a few days for these updates to appear on VersionTracker and/or Macupdate.

  • SIMBL Error - Safari Stand Plugin

Hi, I'm getting this error below when I open Safari. I don't think it affects performance but I'd like to see if I could fix it.  I had this when running Mavericks and still have it now after upgrading to Yosemite.
    Hope you guys can help.

Uninstall "SIMBL" or "EasySIMBL" as follows. Back up all data before making any changes.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return. A folder will open. From that folder, delete the items listed below (some may be absent.) You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
              Application Support/SIMBL
              InputManagers/SIMBL
              LaunchAgents/net.culater.SIMBL.Agent.plist
              LaunchAgents/net.infinite-labs.SIMBLEnablerForSandboxedApps.plist
              ScriptingAdditions/EasySIMBL.osax
              ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax
Log out and log back in. There may also be an item named "EasySIMBL" in the Applications folder. Delete it, if so.

  • Safari SIMBL error and crash

Whenever I open Safari 3.0.4 I get the following messages--

    Additionally it keeps crashing.
    Suggestions?

    Hi,
Go to these 2 locations and move anything present (most likely AcidSearch/SIMBL) in them onto your Desktop to deactivate them:
    /Users/YourUsername/Library/Input Managers/
    /Library/Input Managers/
Restart Safari to pick up the change. If it works now, you can try moving the items back one by one until you find the culprit.
    Hope that helps.

  • 10.4 Safari no home page SIMBL trouble

    Hi,
When I connect to the Internet I first get 2 SIMBL error messages both about untested plugins, then I click off of them have a blank home page and the address says unable to reach this address.
Bookmarks works fine as does the search engine area.
How do I get my home page back?

    Hi Diane,
You need to uninstall SIMBL and the plugins it's referring to. Look in these 4 locations and move Safari related items onto your Desktop to disable them:
    /Users/YourUsername/Library/Input Managers/
    /Users/YourUsername/Library/Application Support/
    /Library/Input Managers/
    /Library/Application Support/
If you're not sure which ones to move, list them all here and we can recommend ones to move.

  • Safari Error

I get the following error. It has gone on for a while and each upgrade seems to keep it. I have no plugins, so have no idea how to eliminate the error.
"SIMBL Error - Safari 3.0.4 (v523.12) has not been tested with the plugin (null) (null) (v0.61). As a precaution, it has not been loaded. Please contact the plugin developer for further information."
    Hope you can help

    Hi
That error indicates AcidSearch is installed in your system. Also, the version is not compatible with the version of Safari you are using.
If you are not using any 3rd party add-on such as SAFT, SafariPlus, SpeedDownload etc. Go to the Finder: either the Main Users Library (HD>Library), or your regular User Account>Home>Library. Open the InputManagers folder. Remove the AcidSearch folder. Also, remove the folder for SIMBL (if it is installed). Also, in the same library, check Application Support for a SIMBL folder. If you see it, move it to the trash.
If you are using other add-ons, only move the AcidSearch folder to the trash. As of today, AcidSearch is not compatible with Safari 3.0.4, although that may change soon.
    Restart Safari.

  • Random Login/Startup Error

the following pops up right after reboot/start up
    SIMBL Error
"SystemUIServer 1.5.4 (v248.1) has not been tested with the plugin WiFind WiFind 1.4.2 (v1.4.2). As a precaution, it has not been loaded."
I have no idea what this is, and I never installed any wifinder. Any help or ideas?

Google search for * WiFind* yields info on the process. You sure you haven't installed it?

  • Flash Nightmares on Safari. . .Help!

This all started rather simple. . . I visit a site of a client of mine that has a flash video that was not working on my Safari but did work on Firefox. I also had a SIMBL error come up every time I opened Safari which started I'm guessing either when I upgraded to Safari 3 or when I installed Adobe CS3 Web Design. I figured it was all related.
So it was suggested I try to reinstall the latest Flash Player. I got the "Access Denied Error. . . You do not have enough access privileges for this installation". Went to Adobe. It said to uninstall Flash, Repair disk permissions, restart and install Flash Player. I did all that and again I got the same Access Denied Error. But now when I go to any site that has Flash, I get "Safari cannot find the internet plug in - "The page “BlahBlah” has content of MIME type “application/x-shockwave-flash”, but you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type."
I am now Flashless both on Safari and Firefox which is not good because I design flash into web sites and can't test them.
I don't have time for this mess! Monday is the first day of my Nightmare week. That would make this a nightmare in a nightmare. . . HELP!!!

While Starman does his midnight surfing (he probably calls it sleep), allow me to drop in with my 2 cents' worth!
Despite the fact that you seemingly don't actually have Flash installed, as evidenced by those two files not being found (and they should be in the Internet Plugins Folder on your main hard drive, not in the one in your home account), try this:
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.)
After installation you should repair permissions and restart.

It is not in there. The error states that it did not load it as a precaution, I just need to find out how to keep it from showing that error. The program does not exist on my computer anymore.

  • Inquisitor

I installed a program called inquisitor for safari-search engine assistant- and now when i click on a link in my mail I get the following message
"SIMBL Error- safari 3.2.1 ( v5525.27.1 )has not been tested with the plugin pithhelmet 2.6.7 (v77 ). As a precaution, it has not been loaded; contact the plugin developer."
what the heck does this mean?? Anyone using this program?
    appreciate any help.
    thanks

    Hi,
Inquisitor probably installed a new version of a library it needs to work, called SIMBL. This library is also used by PithHelment (which you must have installed on your system). Newer versions of SIMBL will warn you if it tries to load a plugin that defines the last version of Safari it knows is compatible.
So, to fix your problem, either uninstall PithHelmet or install the latest version (v2.8.4):
    http://www.culater.net/software/PithHelmet/PithHelmet.php
    Good luck!
