Similar ? to Mary, removing person from image

A friend just emailed me this image and asked if the man standing by the car could be removed. His brother in the car is disabled, and they want to use it for a birthday party card. It's a Blackberry image and not very good quality. I use PSE3 (unfortunately!) What are the basic steps? Do I FIRST need to make another layer...or two? Then, outline the man and ? Do I clone in the missing parts of the car as best I can? Your help and knowledge is appreciated. Here is the image:

Donna,
How's this?
http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1bqgJKcpk6EiwPsEjh2Lkio5fgrBxG0
You can right-click the picture to save it.
Basically here are the steps:
1. Use Clone tool to replace man's legs with the ground.
2. Rear tire: Select front tire, copy/paste to new layer. Use Move tool to move this on top of rear tire. I had to do some resizing and rotating with the Move tool to match the original rear tire.
3. Replace man's shorts: Used Rectangular Marquee to select the front door, copy/paste to a new layer. Use Move tool to move this on top of the shorts. Also used Eraser to "open" the tire well and remove other excess from the rectangle.
4. Replace man's torso and head: Cloned the trees. Also used Clone to extend the ragtop over the torso.
5. Used Clone and Brush tool many, many times to hide the edges of the layers and clean up from all the previous changes.

  • Remove Link from image

    Hi,
I have just converted an MS Word 2013 doc into PDF via the MS Word Export utility. This worked great, however, when I hover over any of the images that are part of the document, a yellow box appears showing a path to the location from where the image originated on my hard drive.  I went back to the Word doc and removed all Metadata, then exported it to PDF once again, but again, the path still shows when you hover over an image.  This is not restricted to the PC I used to create the doc.  When I transfer the PDF file to another PC, the path still shows.
Does anyone know how to prevent this?  I'm using the free Adobe Reader XI version 11.0.07
    Many thanks

Reader can't create PDF files. You're using an internal function of Word, so your question should be asked on a Word forum.

  • Can I remove files from "images removed from" dir?

I have some duplicate files on my iMac, including some large videos in a "images removed from xxxxxxx" directory. Can I safely delete these?

Yes, you can delete this additional "images removed from ...." vault, if you do not need this backup of older videos. It contains all photos/videos, that have been backed up in your vault, and have been removed, because they are no longer in your Aperture library. remove this vault only, if you do not want to keep this videos or have other backups of them.
See Frank Caggiano's answer here:  Re: Folder labeled "Images Removed from Aperture Vault #1"
But I am puzzled: Why are these vaults on your iMac? Are they on your system drive or on a second internal drive? Vaults are best kept on a drive different from the drive where the library is kept. Otherwise they will be of no use, if the drive should fail and needs to be restored.

  • How to remove background from image?

    Hello folks.
I am trying to incorporate some business logos into a brochure I am creating. The problem is, most of these logos have a white background. How can I remove this and make a transparent background?
    Thanks!

Blend modes are your friend. always keep in mind that Multiply, screen and overlay affect the white, black and gray depending which one you choose.
Attached is a blend mode example from photoshop using a black to white gradient.  The normal layer fills the document with.the blend layers on top with the gradient inverted.
This example is text naming the solid color backgrounds blended over a gradient.

  • Best way of removing color from image

    Hey Adobe Community,
I'm Aaron. I have this image here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zjpjq5mf8t02pn9/chimera1-Recovered.jpg
What I'm trying to do is create an outline for a pattern, something like the hot dog in the pattern here: https://m1.behance.net/rendition/modules/59556275/disp/36d76e9e0f33274e8a75ea77fd69b731.jp g
Anyone know if this is possible and what is the best way of doing it? I'd like to keep the outline throughout the whole design of the chimera. Doesn't matter how tedious , I just need some ideas.

I know of no good way to do this in Photoshop.
The quickest way I know is to place the original photo in Illustrator, reduce the opacity of it somewhat, and use the pen tool on another layer to draw what you want. Depending on the nature of the image, it can be tedious, but you don't mind that.  :+)
    Good luck.

  • Remove background from Smart Build images

    Hi,
I've just started creating my first project with Keynote, and so far it's terrific. The question I have is, is it possible to use the alpha tool, or something similar to remove backgrounds from images that I'm using for a smart builds effect.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Welcome to the discussions, Decaffeinated1.
The problem you're seeing is specifically with how Keynote copies images. Neither Pages nor Numbers has this problem. The problem and the solution is described here.
    http://www.keynoteuser.com/news/?p=256
Basically, your choice is to copy through Pages or Numbers (or iWeb) OR to copy another object which will force Keynote to adhere to the transparency set with Instant Alpha.

  • Having difficulty using quick selection tools to remove background form images. Any help appreciated

    Hello All,
I am trying to remove background from images using the 3 different selection tools.  I start off fine, but ultimately the entire images keeps getting grabbed which ever tool I am using.  It is easier if you are using a pro version of photoshop and not any of the elements versions?  I have elements 11.
    Thanks

So much depends on the image itself to determine which tool is most appropriate. Another tool to try is the selection brush, where you literally paint in what you want to select.

  • Remove an object/person from a photo

I'm just received this product. Very excited to work with it, but I'm having problems figuring it out. I have a photo that I want to remove a person from. I've used the background erase tool, but all I'm getting is this transparent gray and white stuff. How do I get color back into that area so that the photo looks like that person was never there? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    Jessica,
If you open photo, chances are it is is JPeg file. As such it is 'flat'. Therefore if you remove any part of the image using the Eraser tool, Photoshop Elements uses the White & Grey checker board effect to indicate that there are no pixels present in that part of the image.
You are almost there! Having removed the part of the photograph you no longer want, you need to replace the resultant transparent (or empty pixels) with something that you do wish to see. In this case you mention the colour black. Activate the Paintbrush tool, make sure the foreground colour is set as black and paint over the White & Grey pixels.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do you remove a person from a photo and replace her with another person

How do you remove a person from a photo and repalce her with another person.

There are many tool and "tricks" to accomplish this manipulation. However, depending on the image one technique might be more appropriate than an other. And then there is the question of how to do it "skillfully". For example, the shadows in the person that is being substituted might be different than in the original image creating the obviously "photoshopped" look.
Doing an Internet search on your posting title brings up lots of examples.

  • Removing keyword from multiple images at the same time

None of the documented methods seem to work for me.
1     Select all the images. Go to Metadata > Remove Keyword [my keyword] - the keyword is only removed from the image that is selected in the batch - i.e the one that has the yellow border round it to show it's the active image.
2     Select all the images, enter [my keyword] in the Add Keyword field when Keyword Controls is visible and press Shift + Enter - does the same thing as 1 above (removes it from the active image only).
3     Select all the images, Shift Click on the keyword that I have in my Keyword Controls in the Control Bar - does the same things as 1 above.
So all these methods, which are supposed to work, do not work for me. The removal of the keyword is only applied to the image that has the yellow border showing it to be the currently active image in the selected batch - the remaining selected imaged still retain the keyword. I can remove it "one at a a time" but it would be great if I could find a solution as to why this isn't working.
    Any ideas?
If it helps, I'm running Aperture 3.1.3 in OS X 10.6.8.
    thanks
    Alan

Based on the frequency with which this trips up users, the Aperture team is going to have to add a much stronger visual indication that "Primary Only" is active.  Marching ants, anyone?  Or a pink selection marquee?
At least in the Viewer when multiple Images are selected the thin white selection marquee is dropped when Primary Only is active.  There is no such change in the Browser.

How do I remove Canon " My Image Garden" from the desktop when turning on my computer ?  I have the icon but the program starts up and I have to delete it manually  from the desktop to clear my screen for other work...

Are you using a Windows or a Mac? What you're seeing (the backwards L shaped menu) is probably the Canon Quick Menu. If you have a Mac you can go into your applications, select Canon Utilities, then drag Canon Quick menu to the trash and empty trash can. On Windows you'd go to the control panel, select Programs and Features (or Uninstall Program/Add or Remove Program) and uninstall the Canon Quick Menu. Not required for all the normal functions of the printer. You can do the same thing for My Image Garden. Also not required.

  • Remove adjustment from multiple images?

I have multiple images where I used Sharpen instead of Edge Sharpen. I know I can Lift & Stamp the Edge Sharpen adjustment to multiple images but I can't seem to find a way to remove the Sharpen adjustment from all of them first. Is there a way to accomplish this? Thanks

I can add the other keyword using your techniqe, but how do I get rid of the wrong keyword without interfering with the other keywords I have already set for the images?
    Keywords are metadata, not adjustments.
If you want to add or remove keywords to multiple images, without interfering with the keywords that are already set, I'd suggest to configurekeyword sets and to use the keyword controls:
For example, after designing a keyword set"Himmel" (sky) I can add or remove one of the keywords for all selected images  by simply pressing a button in the keywords panel or using a key combination: for example ⌥6  to add the keyword "Halo" to all images, ⇧⌥6 to remove it from all currently selected images.
But the question is, how to remove one adjustment from multiple images, and that seems to be behaving buggy in Aperture 3.4.1, at least on my system: If I try to add an adjustment to (or remove from)  multiple images, only the primary selection will be modified - and yes "Primary only is disabled ).
For example: Trying to add "Sepia Tone" to four images: I see the same on two MBPs and on my iMac with Aperture 3.4.1.
