Similar to paint?

on my old windows XP PC they of course have the handy "paint" tool in accessories. I can open a picture make it smaller, select all and move it around..or copy it and open another picture and post them side by side and save them as a JPEG picture.
basically I am looking for the same thing on my MAC. Is there? I tried the paint tool in the works program but it saves them not as a JPEG.
looking a program that lets me open a picture and paint on it or edit it as I please.

Have you tried iPhoto?

  • Paint equivalent to MS Paint

I recently bought iMac 14.1. I would like to know is there paint for mac equivalent to MS Paint. before that I worked only in windows environment which looks more friendly environment. Earlier I used to take snapshot from website and modify it in Paint and use in word/powerpoint for my school project. However, in mac I didn't find similar app. can you let me know similar app in mac.

If all you need is markup on the screen shots, Preview can do that.
    http://9to5mac.com/2013/10/12/how-to-mark-up-and-caption-images-using-preview-on -os-x/
There are some lightweight drawing programs similar to paint, but I've never used them. Pixelmator is more high-end and quite good, but a bit overkill if the screenshot markup is all you want.

  • How do you draw/paint directly in Photoshop?

I keep seeing photos online that people have created entirely in photoshop. How do I do that?

    Good day!
I suppose you would go about that fairly similarly as painting an image on paper – but instead of a brush you use Photoshop’s Brush Tool etc.
Your question is pretty far reaching, so unless you have a more specific question a web search for something like »photoshop painting tutorial« might be a better option than this Forum.

  • Paint

hi, sorry this isn't a question actually about pages, but i couldn't really find any other suitable discussion board to ask this questions, so i picked this one! when i had a laptop with windows, i used the program paint quite a bit, as well as 'print screen'. does mac have any programs similar to paint that i can download? and any features similar to print screen? thanks!

There are several program of this kind available for MacIntosh under MacOS X. They aren't Appel products.
    Tux Paint
    PaintBrush
    CinePaint
    SeaShore
    The Gimp
    DrawIt Lite
    LiveQuartz
and any features similar to print screen?
From any application we may use these shortcuts:
Command-Shift-3 Take a picture of the screen
Command-Shift-4 Take a picture of the selection
Command-Shift-4, then press Control while selecting Take a picture of the screen, place in Clipboard
Command-Shift-4, then Spacebar Take a picture of the selected window
Then, we may print the resulting screenshot.

    Hello sathyaRao,
I don't think there is anything like that . You need to develop by yourself . I've written some blog post which might be related with your requirement.
    - Draggable Node in Javafx 2.0
    - JavaFX Drag and Drop Cell in ListView
For more please do some google on keywords like : javafx, drag, drop etc

  • Can you "auto smooth" your drawing as you're drawing?

When I draw on the computer, it's always very sketchy looking, even if I'm using my tablet. I'm learning vectors right now but I'd rather draw at the moment. Nevertheless, I was wondering if there was a option or tool in adobe's arsenal, that makes it so, as you draw, adobe is autocorrecting your lines to make everything smooth and not jagged? Does this "autosmoother" even exist? I hope so.
P.S. Can you guys recommend me some good sites/videos that teaches you how to use vector to it's fullest and how to start a website?
    Thanks in advance!

AI has some "auto smoothing" options, but do not know of such in PS. Now, AI will be Vector art.
In Corel Painter, you can also invoke similar. Painter is a pixel-based Raster program, and is designed for "natural media" drawing.
Good luck, and maybe others will have tips on something I have missed.

  • Color conversion : special behavior with Spot Color "All"

    Hello,
I have a document with printmarks which have a spot color "All". While I convert the page using the "Color conversion" to Gray 1.8 with Adobe Acrobat X the spot color "All" are still present (with the alternate color space DeviceGray).
Using Adobe Acrobat 9.x all objects have a DeviceGray color.
Is it a bug or a new behavior? Moreover the SDK method doesn't convert the spot color but keep the name (but I know this is not the right place to post it - it's just for information).
    Regards,
    Joe

I sense you may not understand the difference between sopt and process colors in the printing process.
When you use process inks you build all color representations by combining dots of varying sizes from each of the four process colors, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. Because the dots are two small to be seen individually your brain is fooled into thinking it sees other colors. Process color printing requires four printing plates to produce the full range of colors possible, but that range is limited compared to what you can see in real life or capture in RGB.
Spot colors, in contrast, are similar to paint. Each color is mixed individually, and every spot color requires its own plate on the printing press (and you must use a press -- toner and inkjet printers use cmyk inksets and cannot print real spot colors). Because of the expense of these plates, the use of spot colors is usually limited to one or two colors in any print job, and if the job has other color (like photographs) that requires process inks, converting the spot colors to the closest process simulation is often employed if the spot colors can be simulated "close enough" to satisfy the client and the budget is tight.
I would avoid using process colors for type in small sizes or for very thin strokes, especially in lighter colors, as you are likely to see ragged edges.
So, how many spot color swatches did you use? More than two? More than four? Do you have a huge budget to produce the work? This may be a project that really should be designed from the ground up as process, or process and one spot for that hard to print bright accent color.

  • Configurator Widget Help?

    Hello,
I am looking to create a new H/S/B color bar inside a panel,
but can't seem to find a way to do it. I want to basically make
panel that has a much larger color selection area to help set the
foreground/background color more quickly and accurately. This will
    assist greatly with digital painting.
    Any ideas?
    Phil

    Thanks John.
I've been tinkering around all day at what can be achieved
with flash. I've been able to make a basic color picker in flash at
this point and will try to flesh it out a bit more tomorrow.
I think I'm also going to try and make a circular color
picker and perhaps maybe something that operates similar to
Painter's triangle/wheel. The idea is to give the user options on
what they want to use and to always have an open color picker.
Photoshop CS4 shipped with Kuler, however it does not improve the
"ease" when selecting a color with a stylus. I've always wanted the
color picker to function like dipping a quill in ink. Essentially
select and click the color you want.
This has been something that has plagued digital painters in
motion pictures and games for a long time and I'm extremely excited
that with the addition of Flash Panels it can now be resolved.
Thanks and I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys
    develop with that sample code.

  • Capturing frame by frame

Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to edit a short clip frame by frame in iMovie.
I am currently working on a greenscreen project & the screen has little white marks on it that I would like to remove. Is it possible to go in frame by frame and take them out? I don't have photoshop, either, so I was also wondering if there is another program (similar to Paint on a PC) that could solve this problem? Thanks!

    nickiex,
You can use QuickTime Pro to export your video to an image sequence and then use the free open source application MacCinePaint to retouch frame by frame.
I've only just played around with CinePaint. It's a pretty sophisticated application, one that is actually use be many professionals.

  • Retire MSPAINT.EXE

// Already reported via the official feedback tool //
Please retire the old mspaint.exe application.  In 2014, this simple image application is just useless and is barely useful as a image viewer.
Replace it with something that has capabilities similar to Paint.Net (http://www.getpaint.net/).

The whole purpose here is to make Windows better, right?  Of course there are plenty of other free options.
Personally, I use Photoshop.  On systems where I cannot use PS due to licensing, I use Paint.NET.
Yes, MSPAINT is free, light and unobtrusive.  The goal, however, is to make Windows—and all of its included applications—better.
A good example is what Microsoft did with the built-in calculator program.
The version that shipped with XP and Vista had the most basic of usefulness with only a “scientific” mode.
Starting with Windows 7, Microsoft dramatically enhanced the application to where it now includes a “programmer” and “Statistics” mode.
Also added is a history view, unit conversions, and useful worksheets.
Why can’t the same be done for MSPAINT?
Don’t get me wrong.  I’m not saying remove MSPAINT entirely.
I’m just suggesting it’s time to make it better and more useful.
Keep the name.  Just give the application some enhanced capabilities.

  • Signature book

I have been attempting to create a signature book for my

(similar to paint) and can save it and other users can view
    other signatures/names submitted
I have already made the drawing function but i just need help

    Any help will very useful
    Thanks

    Hi Blake,
if you take a closer look at the example NSurveyor linked to,
you might realize, that this solutioin is (great as it is, and I'm
a great fan of Alessandro) more a proof of concept than anything
    practical.
I'd suggest you store the coordinates you collect in an array
(either multidimensional or filled with {x;y}-objects) strore those
and use a flash to redraw them when needed with the drawing-api.
PS.: I'm a fan of NSurveyor too ;-)

  • Undo Button

I am making a program for a beginner Java class project that is similar to paint. It has a pencil, eraser, crop tool, Saving and Opening stuff, simple things like that. I am trying to make an Undo button that goes back one step.
Heres how it works: All of the editing is done in MouseDragged. Everytime MouseClicked is called, I do this:
    undoImage = current;
    ug.dispose();
ug = undoImage.getGraphics();undoImage and current are both BufferedImages. I For some reason, it works with the crop tool, but undoImage changes as I edit current with the pencil and eraser and nothing happens when I click undo.
    Any ideas?

That's what I'm trying to do. I do undoImage = current; (current is the Image that the user is drawing on) in MouseClicked. Then. MouseDragged regulates the drawing (the eraser has a drawOval in it, so everytime MouseDragged is called, a white oval is drawn). But for some reason, the undoImage mimicks the current Image. I tried drawing them both on the screen at the same time and undoImage changed with current, even though there is nothing about undo in MouseDragged. However, like I said, it works when I crop...
