Simlock Iphone4 (France)

Hi, i have a problem with my Iphone4. I'm actually in french polynesia and i want to use a other sim card than orange. I have call Orange to unlock my Iphone and they say than it's OK. But it doesn't work and Orange ask me to call Apple.
I look for this problem on Apple website and i have follow all the procedure but it doesn't work (I don't have the message 'Your iphone are Unlocked'.
What can I do?

If you are not buying it from an authorized seller then you may or may not be buying stolen property. Registering it to iTunes will tell you nothing about whether it was stolen.

if using a N95 / N95 8gb with SFR software/simlock in France, it might be that the Maps A-GPS function isn't working properly.

The only times you absolutely need to allow network usage is when updating licences etc., for general navigation you can swtich off network access.
I have my phone set to ask each time I open maps whether to allow network usage so that I can make the decision based on what I intend doing with Maps:
Options>Tools>Settings>Internet>Go online at startup>Always ask
I also have the positioning settings set so that only the internal chip is used for positioning; this is not in Maps but in the phone settings themselves:
Menu>Tools>Settings>General>Positioning>Positioning methods then ensure that Bluetooth GPS, Assisted GPS and Network based are switched off.

Need help in english to use my iphone4 with orange.fr in france

I am travelling in France with my factory unlocked iphone4. England and Thailand services have been fine but Orange France is a nightmare. They say I can't get 3G on my iphone4 and there is no english speaking support to help me out. My network settings are turned off but my 20 euro credit has either dissappeared or never was there in the first place. Where can I get English support for this company?

The whole story is a little bit confusing for me. So lets see what you wrote:

Thinking is wrong. What you need is exact info about recovery installation and this can be found in users manuals document. Recovery disc is not like Microsoft installation disc and cannot be used for repair. Recovery disc contains recovery image and can be used for clean OS installation (recovery image installation) only.

Why you cannot use it? Recovery image installation installs OS again. Which OS is installed after running recovery image installation?

But why if you already have recovery disc that you have used at the beginning of the whole story?
What you need to do is to use this original disc for OS installation.
-start your notebook and press F12 several times to enter BOOT menu
-when the menu is shown put recovery disc into ODD
-select CD/DVD drive in the menu and press ENTER
-follow the menu on the screen
After recovery image installation you will have factory settings again and everything should be OK.

Again: Contact your cellular provider (Virgin) to determine If they offer unlocking, and if you qualify. If they do, you can request unlocking, otherwise you will not be able to use the phone with a different cellular provider.

Sounds like your phone is carrier locked, presumably to a service provider in France. There is no way to use it with another carrier unless you can contact the original carrier and get them to unlock it. Only the carrier it is locked to can authorize an unlock - some will unlock some won't.
As far as using it jailbroken, you will not get support for that here.

I had my Iphone5 stolen in France 2months ago, I now use my Iphone4. today my phone turned itself to the setup screen and i was unable to set it up using my itunes account because its been hacked in france im in uk.what do i do?.

Ive had my iphone5 stolen when i was in France 2 months ago. i now use my iphone 4, but today my phone went to the set up screen when when you first get an iphone. i was not able to set it back up because some one had changed my password. i found this out when i went on to itunes on my computer and asked it to send email to me so i could change it and i recieved it in french. guess work i sussed it but im worried that they have logged into all my other accounts including bank. i rung the phone company 2 months ago to report stolen so i assumed my phone would have been blocked. ive lost everything on my iphone 4 including photos of my new born little girl which hurts.
what can i do about this?

is there any way of getting things back that i never backed up?

Sorry, without knowing the Apple ID/Password that was originally used to activate this phone, then there is no way to re-activate it, as you've found out.
Apple can't/won't help you. Your choice is to get this info, or you simply won't be able to re-activate this phone.
If you ex won't give it to you, then consult a lawyer.

Iphone4 with claro (peru) sim

in december i'm going to peru to visit some friend. One of my friends asked me if I had a spare Iphone4 because his is broken. He has a plan with Claro but is that going to work? I know that a Iphone has different models that can access different networks and all but I don't have a clue how this works.
My spare Iphone4 model is a 1387. That support GSM and CDMA networks. (well that is what the internet says). It hold a micro simcard and works fine.
But I have a t-mobile simcard. Not a Claro simcard from Peru.
Does someone knows if it will work? I go to Peru, give him my spare iPhone, he puts in the simcard from Claro and there you go? Or am I missing something?
Claro uses 3,5G roaming networking. (850Mhz). My phone supports that.I think I'm good?
My Phone I bought a time ago in Holland. I believe its simlock free because here all iPhones are and no carriers here block the phones. I tested it by putting a simcard from Telfort in it (while I bought it from t-mobile) and that works fine. Internet, calling, gaming, sms, facetime, imessage. All works good.
So can I expect any problem putting in a Claro simcard? Or will it work fine.

If officially unlocked, it will work just fine. Do this before giving your friend the phone:

Once done, give him/her the phone, have them put their sim in the phone & activate it. They should be good to go.

Iphone4s phone doesn't work

Hi,
My daughter's iphone4s (factory unlocked) suddenly ceased to work as a telephone.
She has a spanish vodafone account and after a few days, while in France the phone function ceased to stop. As she previously had a 3GS Model, she recently cut a sim card to adapt it to her new phone. Could it be that the sim card moved a little bit inside the phone. Any other idea of what it might be?

Always start troubleshooting by resetting your gateway or telephony model by pressing the indented reset button on the panel where the cables attach. Plug in a known good wired phone to the L1/L2 jack to bypass the inside wiring and all telephone equipment. If it still doesn't work, then contact Comcast support.
