Simple advice for Higher Sync.

As you are probably know, you cannot adjust the snr below 6 db, this was a great trick I used to give me
that extra couple of mb down on dsl.
However you can achieve the same affect, by temporary removing as much noise as possible, and then restarting your modem or hub at the best possible time. This gives a similar effect to setting snr to 3 or 4.
Lowering your noise interference.
Cabling
Make a custom, super-short cable for your modem to wall connection
Its best is the cable used is cat6 and shielded with the un-used pairs removed and a simple RJ11 crimped on one end.
Hardwire one end of the cable into the box as a vdsl extension.
My cable is 0.6m long and syncs 0.5mb faster with no other alterations.
Disconnect all other extensions, even the hardwired ones with cat5.
If you don't use them because extensions cause signal reflection and cost sync speed.
Use a DECT base station and cordless phones instead. With the base station connected
to the master socket.
Place a good quality dsl filter in between for good measure. Its not actually needed as the master socket
has one built in, however an improvement was measured.
Noise reduction
Move power cables away from the master socket.
Do not connect any transformers/wallwarts anywhere near the master socket, even the one for the Router.
Turn off all appliances in the house, even standby leave nothing on except for the router/modem.
Disable the Wifi on the Router if you can or turn the router off (plug it out) if you have a white modem.
Timing
During the day around 11am-3pm. Definitly not at night or at peak times.
Overcast, but not raining, blocks radio signals
Cold to Mild day. Don't try this when its hot outside, heat increases resistance.
Watch the snr and wait until it is above 6.6 on the downstream, and keep an eye on the maximum avaiable
speed, with the above taken care off, the speed should be considerably higher.
Reboot, remember nothing else that requires electricity should be on in the house, while the reboot takes place.
My sync went from 9mb to 11.1mb with the above method.
BT estimates 5-7mb on my line.
Also don't do it too often, once every 9+ days is best.
each time you may see an improved sync.
3 times I have done this it and sync went up 3 times in a row.
What you are doing is lowering the noise tolerance for increased speed by temporarily removing noise.
Like if you find this useful.

Which model iPod are you using? Most models work best with 128kbps files. A 128kbps AAC file is equivalent or better than a 160kbps MP3.
See this article for more information:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61086
If you import them as MP3's the files will be saved in the iTunes folder, but can be copied or moved to other applications.

I am making a list of items to purchase for our classroom, and some have suggested a server. We currently have 15 G5 iMacs and use Final Cut Express.
What do you suggest for a server, and at what cost?
    Thanks in advance!

Unless you specifically want your students to working simultaneously on shared projects or a shared pool of assets, I would suggest that you get Firewire hard drives (or require your students to get them) and have your students save their projects on those drives. Or, if you really want shared storage, just run Mac OS X Server and give your students logins and home directories there (note that for video work, your server and network will have to be pretty robust and high performance). The learning curve of Final Cut Server it probably going to be too high for use in a class unless it's going to be an ongoing series or a special setup whether the students will be using the system for more than just a semester. Also, unless I've missed something, Final Cut Server does not work with Final Cut Express, only Final Cut Pro.

  • DAW - advice for setting up my new DAW?

    Hi,
I intend to get my own DAW/general purpose computer in the next few months and was hoping to run my plan by y'all for advice. I intend to use it half for music recording, and also as a normal computer.
I plan to have a high end graphics card (dual dvi) for games etc, will run a 23" widescreen lcd (pref apple on pc) or bigger maybe upgrading to dual monitors later. I am running a HD tv card which needs some good headroom when recording. I only play far cry and need for speed when it comes to games etc so won't have a million games installed.
I have a about 50 gig of music mp3's and wmas and general stuff, so need lots of storage space. I have about 10gig of AA session files and that will grow so im thinking 30-40 gig min.
For recording/mixing, i have usually 10 trax minimum with lots of real time, sometimes locked fx, i do a lot of processing/wave editing and can have up to 10minute tracks up to 24 etc so i need some juice to power it all. running xp pro sp2.
Can someone explain raid vs ide, im told i can raid 2 similiar drives, but how much better is it, and are there draw backs? can i raid 2 x 15000rpm drives together(2 x 20 or 2 x 40 gig) as my dedicated AA session files space or is that just overkill, i plan to have maybe 2 x 250 gig 7200 or 10 000 drives raided as a dedicated digital vcr for HD tv recording, a small system drive 20-40gig just for installed stuff, another 80-250 gig for normal storage. Any ideas for best way to configure this stuff? minimum im thinking is sep small sys drive, sep AA drive/raided or not, sep bigass drive for TV recording, and sep general storage drive so thats minimum 4 or more.
Wireless keyboard (ultra flat touch keys like on bank atm's sort super silent DO THESE EXIST YET IF SO PLEASE TELL ME WHERE AND WHAT CALLED?)
and wireless optical mouse with extra side buttons and fully functional
Can y'all fill me in on scsi, im told the 14k rpm drives need a scsi
controller or osmething? tell me about this stuff please
Also, 64bit cpus? what the hell does that mean
I'm thinking the fastest intel cpu wht is it 3 gig these days with cache, or does anyone know how much dual cpu will cost (and what needs to go with it) motherboard with 800fsb and 8x agp that can take like 1-2 gig of ram (what sort is fastest?), 8 x agp graphics card that is very high end for 1080i output for high definition tv, and games.
    Obviously dvd+rw/cd+rw drive.
Need advise on DAW case, ultra sound and heat proof as i might sleep in the same room and im sick of noisy computers, and i might need a big load of space with all the hdd's depending on what i get, will have a usb2. pci card no doubt and tv card etc
Wondering bout the new audigy 2 zn platinum pro thing Is this any good compared to the normal audigy 2? it says with firewire i can have 7 stereo inputs, is that really true at once, do i need extra external hardware like a mixer to do that, and does AA support that at all?
I have a decent pair of phones i will use for a while until i get studio monitors so don't worry about them for now, thats later.
I hope to spend only about 3-6 grand Australian pref no more, so any suggestions of other things to add or not to bother with etc, revisions?

Don't clutter a daw with too much GP stuff, office software
installations and antivirus software should generally not be installed
on a daw, and a gp computer can generally not be without either.
Generally, mind you, generally is generally a lot less general with the
more capable hardware, but a lean daw is a happy daw. Fortunately a
p2-300 with 192 megs of ram and a modern harddisk is still a lot of GP
officing computer, and such machines are not costly on the second hand
    market.
    > I intend to use it half for music recording, and also as
    > a normal computer.
There may be valid reasons for doing that, if so then you could be well
off having multiple OS installations on it, one for GP use and one for
Audio use and making it a multibooter. It however my experience that a
multibooter always ends up being booted in the wrong OS ..... O;-)
    > I plan to have a high end graphics card (dual dvi) for games etc,
A dual head card is strongly recommended. Matrox has nice cards that do
not need to have a fan on them and that do not require the utmost
hardware speed. You do not WANT to have the ultra fastest graphics card
on a daw because you need to avoid that the graphics cards bus bandwidth
requirements obstruct other, more vital chores. Less fast cards that do
not require a fan allows for a more quiet system.
    > will run a 23" widescreen lcd (pref apple on pc) or bigger
    > maybe upgrading to dual monitors later.
It may be that you can get dual smaller lcd's for the same budget as one
23", and it may be of more use, everybody is on some kind of a budget,
and you also need to have money over for audio hardware. Good mics and
good mic pre's do more for the quality of your sound than a larger
    screen.
    > I am running a HD tv card which needs some good headroom when
    > recording.
Hmmm ...... select the recording options wisely, you come across as
chasing specs rather than as being aware of just what specs you actually
    need.
    > I only play far cry and need for speed when it comes to games etc
    > so won't have a million games installed.
One never knows what the future holds, but it should be possible to
avoid having too many games installed at any one time.
    > I have a about 50 gig of music mp3's and wmas and general stuff,
    > so need lots of storage space. I have about 10gig of AA session

It is too costly pr. gigabyte to buy anything smaller than 120 GB, and
the 120 GB drives of today are all comfortably fast. You should at least
have two physical drives for Audition so as to be able to avoid
simultaneous reads and writes on the same drive, three physical drives
    are imo preferable.
    > For recording/mixing, i have usually 10 trax minimum with lots

I think that your setup is one that would benefit of having three
physical drives to prevent having temp files on the drive that contains
    the "static" audio files.
    > can someone explain raid vs ide, im told i can raid
    > 2 similiar drives, but how much better is it,
Depends, it is not faster than a single drive where it is fastest, but
raid 0 (simple stripe set) is less likely to show performance reduction
due to file fragmentation. A stripe set still counts as "one physical
drive", and if you want to have only two drives in it you are better off
    not having them striped.
    > and are there draw backs?
You can not remove just one harddisk and move it to another machine. If
one harddisk fails, then all is lost, at least if you run a simple
stripe set. The probability math is tolerable with only two disks in a
stripe set, but it takes less of an error to loose all. All things
considered you need to have a problem to solve by striping prior to
doing it, and distributing multitrack files over several physcial drives
is also a way to increase playback performance if there is a problem to
    solve.
    > can i raid 2 x 15000 rpm drives together(2 x 20 or 2 x 40 gig)
    > as my dedicated AA session files space or is that just overkill,
That would be a silly set up, three 5400 or 7200 rpm 120 GB drives is a
possibly less costly way to get same or better performance, assuming
wise deployment. You will always end up having some copying of files
from one physical drive to another, and consequently it is very wise to
have identical drives so that the faster need not wait for the slower.
    > I plan to have maybe 2 x 250 gig 7200 or 10 000 drives raided
    > as a dedicated digital vcr for HD tv recording,
I wouldn't raid them, but tv recording is a very fast way of making
large drives appear small and I don't really know what the bandwidth
    requirement is for recordign hdtv.
    > a small system drive 20-40gig just for installed stuff,
No, you will be wasting a valuable drive bay on a drive that will be a
bottleneck, three drives is a good idea, but preferably identical or at
least similar. Put that old drive in a USB 2.0 box and use it for
    project backup instead.
    > another 80-250 gig for normal storage.
Yes, you may need storage space when you want to do TV recording, so 750
    GB unformatted is not unreasonable.
    > Any ideas for best way to configure this stuff? minimum I'm
    > thinking is sep small sys drive, sep AA drive/raided or not,

Three 200 GB drives will probably be the optimally cost efficient setup.
    > wireless keyboard (ultra flat touch keys like on bank atm's
    > sort super silent DO THESE EXIST YET IF SO PLEASE TELL ME
    > WHERE AND WHAT CALLED?)
A wireless keyboard is called too slow and too sloppy ...
    > and wireless optical mouse with extra side buttons
But a wireless mouse can be an ergonomic advantage, agreed.
    > can y'all fill me in on scsi,
    Too costly.
    > im told the 14k rpm drives need a scsi
    > controller or osmething?
Yes, and thus it gets to be about a very different and very costly mobo.
You do not want a disk controller on the PCI bus on a DAW.
    > also, 64bit cpus? what the hell does that mean
Currently nothing of relevance considering the current software. What it
means is that the memory allocation space can be 64 terabytes rather
than 4 GB, and that is rapidly getting to be of importance for database
    servers and terminal servers.
    > im thinking the fastest intel cpu wht is it 3 gig these
    > days with cache, or does anyone know how much dual cpu
    > will cost (and what needs to go with it)
It is unknown to me whether Audition actually will benefit from multiple
CPU's, generally the required CPU versions (XEON) and mobo's are too
    costly to make sense.
    > motherboard with 800fsb
Asus P5P800 is modestly priced. I think your specs are extreme and that
your quests are of the "it would be nice to be able to" type. Life is
not about using as much money on chasing specs as possible, but rather
about getting good results. To do that, you also need to have resources
to get some reasonable audio equipment. Leave all the video concerns out
of it, I have understood them to be about leasure, and live with
recording the number of pixels that is possible with a good DAW.
I suggest this also because it may be problematic to try to make a
multitrack audio recording simultanously on the machine that records the
video in case "both combined" is the productivity quest. Just one reason
for not thinking that hdtv is very important on the machine is that it
is not very likely that you actually record hdtv with a camera.
    > wondering bout the new audigy 2 zn platinum pro thing
In the audio context that is relevant here something Midiman is "more
like it" - example product, not the only possible choice. See also
http://www.pcavtech.com, Arny Krügers very interesting web site and a
good place to start learning more about sound cards. A budget card that
it appears will meet your demands is the Midiman 1010LT or similar model
    from other manufacturer.

Unlikely. But nothing is impossible.   Though I don;t see how that would happen. As long as both are signed into the Same Apple ID / iCloud Account they will be N'Sync. (Bad Joke)

If I get a message or buy an app or take a photo on the iPhone 5, how do I get those things onto the iPhone 6?
If you buy an App, you have 2 ways to get it to the iPhone6: If Automatic Downloads is enabled in Settings->iTunes & App Store, it will automatically download to the iPhone 6 when you buy it on the 5 and vice versa if you buy it on the 6, it will download to the 5.
Alternatively, you can simply go to the App Store App->Updates->Purchased and look for the App there and download it. Purchased Apps will not require payment again. i.e They'll be free to download to the iPhone 6 once purchased.
SMS Messages will sync over using Continuity as long as they are on the same Wifi network. Otherwise, restoring the iPhone 5 backup to the iPhone 6 will transfer all messages received up until the backup was made onto the iPhone 6.
Images, can be transferred either through Photo Stream
My Photo Stream FAQ - Apple Support
Or any Cloud service you want such as Dropbox, or One Drive.

If you want the Continuity features as explained above you need to update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8. Otherwise its not all that important.

  • LabVIEW done right: Requesting advice for a large LabVIEW project

    Hello Everyone,
I have been coding LabVIEW for about 2 years now, off and on as my company requires it, and although my coding abilities and neatness have improved greatly since I first started I still end up with large, messy looking programs.
I have a great understanding of SubVIs and use them regularly and often. I am also familiar with the various code structures such as a producer/consumer or state machine. But I keep finding that too much of my main code is interdependent on common variables, indexes, and values that it seems impossible to simplify any of them into subVIs because I would need like 10+ inputs or a custom cluster for each one. This seems counter productive and time consuming.
I have searched far and wide for good programming technique for larger labview programs and I have only been able to find the most basic advice such as "Use subVIs" or "Use a state machine" and all the examples I can find are laughably simple.
I can reduce my program to 3 while loops. One captures Events and gives commands on a queue, another takes those queued items and performs actions, and the third performs data gathering, plotting, and saving once each second. This starts out good, but by the time I've incrementally added all the features my company requires, each loop is a huge interconnected mess of wires with no clear way to section them up into subVIs.
A solution would be to make everything either a global variable or FG but as a native C programmer I was always taught to avoid globals. And if I went the FG route I would need somewhere around 100+ different VIs just to handle them all.
Is there something I'm missing? I want to know how you pass data between the various loops of your program. Do you use one big cluster? Globals? FGs? None of these options seem ideal to me but maybe I'm missing something obvious.
If anyone has any advice for me, it would be well appreciated. Better yet, if anyone has, or could point me to, an example program exhibiting an ideal programming structure for a project similar to the one I mentioned above, I would love to take some time to look it over. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up some good tips and tricks for keeping my main VI to one screen size, and effectively passing all the required data to all the subVIs that require it.
    Thanks in advance,
    -Aaron

Do you try to identify related information that can be used by a whole set of related subVI's?  For example, you might have several parameters related to a specific piece of hardware.  These can be grouped into a typedef cluster (or, even better, an object with all the related subVIs part of the object class).  You definitely don't want to be using custom cluster for each subVI, but well designed subVI's shouldn't have more than a few custom inputs once related information is grouped.
As for data in the loops, I usually just have one big cluster in a shift register.  This is never itself sent into a subVI, but parts of it (the typedef clusters or objects from above) are unbundled and sent into subVI's.  It's basically just serves as a cleaner way of holding all the parameters.  I'll attach an image of a "state" of the program I'm now working on.  There are only a few wires unbundled in each individual "state", even though the full cluster (the top shift register in the image) has 20-odd components (and some of them are subclusters/objects that themselves have many components, such as the "Selected Record" object in the image which itself is a 15 element cluster).
BTW, I'm using the "JKI state machine toolkit" which you might want to look at to get some ideas.

Assuming you are creating your tweens using actionscript I would highly recommend using the external animation engine TweenLite, developed by greensock. You can download it and read a tutorial on it here: http://blog.greensock.com/get-started-tweening/
If you are just creating tweens using the timeline then try this one: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-flash-professional-cs4/getting-started-13-creating-motion- tweens/ I've not watched this one in a while but I seem to remember that the tutorials in this series were quite helpful to me.

  • Modify repeat_interval for Auto Sync Jobs

Is it "permitted/supported" to modify the repeat_interval for Auto Sync Index jobs created when using the syntax SYNC(EVERY "SYSDATE + 30/86400") which give a repeat interval of 30 seconds
I do not want to have partitions older than a (sysdate-3) days and none greater than "sysdate" to be running. I create new partitions daily and so would like to start/stop partition jobs for the sync window. If I get data outside the window, say 7 days old, then I would run that specific partition sync manually.
Is there a way to define the interval to be a moving window?
    Regards

There is a Job created for each partition. There is a repeat_interval parameter set for the Job from the SYNC(EVERY ...) The memory and degreel_parallel parameters go into the Job PLSQL definition
If you change the index then the value in the parameters column from user_ind_partitions only has the most recent value (it seems) and eventually it can get confusing.
REPEAT_INTERVAL is a JOB thing and modifying that works just as well **and** keeps the parameters values intact as when the index was created.
Also, I found **and** it could be something in the syntax I had, that if I had loaded data and the job had not kicked in yet, I could not modify the index for any partition. We load data continuously and we have daily*4 partitions (for 5 years). So quite a few partitions and Jobs. Disabling a Job would be much simpler.

    Hi,
We do  not seem to be able to print the payment advices for our employees who are on direct deposit.
In Pre-DME we are specifying the correct PE51 form name.
We are checking the "Payslip on Pay advance note" in PreDME program.
Then we run the DME program (equivalent of RFFOUS_T).
Here we are checking off all 3 Print controls:
    1. DME,

But, we are not able to get the PE51 form printed for Direct deposits when we run the DME program.
    Your suggestions are highly appreciated.

  • Generic advice for roaming wifi?

I just stayed at a hotel which offered free wifi access to guests. When I tried to connect, however, I was unable to do so. Reception smugly told me that "I seemed to be having great difficulty with this" and that I should bring them my device as it was "really very simple" but finally even the hotel admitted they had no clue. (Less than me, I think.)
I was assured this worked great on Windows 7 and iPads.
I've seen threads on not dissimilar topics but I've not found any general solutions. The problem was that I was meant to open a browser and get automatically redirected to a login page. Either on opening the browser (Windows) or on trying to search (iPad). They couldn't tell me the url and the magic failed in Firefox, chromium and Konqueror. I also tried taking my firewall down completely, rebooting etc. No go.
I usually connect using wicd. wicd could see the network fine but saw it as being unsecured. I couldn't find a way for it to connect. It could try, but there was nowhere to put in the login and password so it kept failing to get a connection.
The frustrating thing about this is that I couldn't search for suggestions and try them out because I didn't have a connection. So all I can do is ask for advice in retrospect and for prospective advice for when/if this happens again.
Is it possible to connect to this kind of setup? If so, are there instructions somewhere? And/or anything I should install (while I have a connection) to be prepared (for when I don't)?

There are many "professionally managed" wireless networks around here by companies with names like "wireless solutions" which is clearly an attempt at humor: a sarcastic reversal of what they actually are.  These all use that sort of browser log in.  I've found a vast majority of these redirect to the login page if you attempt to go to "google.com".  But they will not redirect from any other attempted url's that I've found.
Perhaps they assume that google is everyone's homepage.  Or perhaps they don't assume anything and are just clueless.  But this works a majority of the time.  An exception is at the Barnes and Noble stores: I have to attempt to go to barnesandnoble.com to log in.
As some off-topic humor, a handful of cafe's I've been to have good WPA2 networks, but they broadcast the password in their essid.  This is a bit like getting a nice safe, and engraving the combination on the door so you don't forget it.

First, what versions of LabVIEW and NI-DSA are you using.  I have been searching around for the example you are refering too and I am not able to find it.  Are you creating and arb. wave in the frequency domain and then performing an FFT to get it to the time domain?  Next, remember your wave will only be as exact as the AO specs. of the hardware...
The output conversions occur simultaneously at software-programmable rates from 1.25 to 51.2 kS/s in increments of 47.684 µS/s. The analog output circuitry uses eight-times oversampling interpolators with 64-times oversampling delta-sigma modulators to generate high-quality signals. Software-programmable attenuation of 0, -20, or -40 dB is available on the output channels. The PCI-4451 has excellent amplitude flatness of ±0.2 dB within DC to 23 kHz, and a THD of -90 dB at 1 kHz.
Now, as far as obtaining other examples If you use the LabVIEW example finder and goto Hardware Input and Output>>Traditional DAQ>>Analog Output.  I would also in the lower right hand corner of the Example Finder select your 4451 this will show you all examples that work with your hardware.  I hope this helps a little but please give me more details we will go from there.   Have a great day!

  • Im after so advice for itunes!

im after so advice for itunes! so, when i buy my music from dj sites such as beatport, i download it and it loads straight into itunes as i want it to so it syncs with traktor!
however when i download sample packs for logic if i play them or audition any of the sounds they to load in to itunes which i dont want cause i dont want it clogged up with loads of little samples, plus its takin up extra space on my harddrive.
so what i want is to have all samples on an external harddrive and be able to play them with out them copying on to itunes. so when i open logic there all saved away from the mac, i can play them etc and they wont jump onto the mac.
aswell as this i want to have multiple itunes librarys saved to the external harddrive. one for my albums and band music etc. and one where i can save all my dj music to before i drop it onto the mac library for traktor.
    i hope this makes sense.
    cheers

so is there some way of making Quick time the default player for an external harddrive?
Drusif, not really.  As Christopher notes, you can set the default by file type, but not by drive location.
What I suggest you do is to set QuickTime (or some other non-iTunes player) as the default for all music files.  Then, when you find something you plan to keep, add it to your iTunes library.

  • Pro vs Air for high school?

Hi, I'm currently in year 10 and my new school has a 'bring your Own device' program. Im considering the MacBook Pro or Air but am undecided. I like the fact th air is light, as I will have to carry it around. I also need a long battery life, for school. I want to be able to do my research and school work and well as social things like Facebook and music etc. I'm leaning more to the air but the more I read around the more confused I get. I would like to be able to use it until I finish school, maybe even into university years. Any advice on which to choose would be muchly appreciated!

either one is fine for high school.  it's a personal preference at this point.  however, if you have some idea what you would like to major in when you go to college/university-then which one you chose may make a difference.  For example, a base model Air would be fine for an English major, but a base model Air would be inappropriate for someone majoring in Architecture or Engineering.

  • Asking for advice for Jabber deployment - multi CUCM cluster\AD domains

I would like some design advice for deploying Jabber and CUPS in our company. We have 2 locations, west coast (SiteA) and east coast (SiteB). Each site have their own CUCM 7.15 clusters, Unity clusters, AD domains (trusted, but not in the same forest).
At SiteA I have setup CUPS (8.6.3.10000-20) and jabber and have it working great.
I would like to setup CUPS\Jabber for SiteB, but they need to be able to IM\call\etc to SiteA (And vice-versa).
SiteA and SiteB both have CUCM LDAP sync turned on, and LDAP directory synced with both domains (although SiteA cannot authenticate to CUCM at SiteB, and vice-versa due to the fact you can only LDAP sync authentication with one domain, CUCM user database contain users from SiteA and SiteB).
We have SIP trucks setup to pass internal calls and line status(BLF) between the trunks, and can communicate via internal extensions just fine.
The problem I’m running into is my jabber-config files uses the EDI directory – which can only look at one domain, so I cannot search the other domain. I believe  changing to UDS fixes this, but I understand it would require me to upgrade both CUCM clusters to 8.6.2 - unless I’m mistaken.
I’m aware the desktop sharing will not work until CUCM is upgraded to 8.6.1 or 8.6.2.
I’m wondering if anyone has any advice, or can confirm I’m on the right track. Thanks in advance!

The thing that's important to understand is how CUP and Jabber build the XMPP URI. The URI has a left- and right-hand side; the left is the username while the right is the XMPP domain. CUP uses the LDAP attribute specified in CUCM's LDAP System page, sAMAccountName by default, for the left-hand-side. The right-hand side is the FQDN of the CUP cluster. Jabber must use the same values as CUP when displaying search results. Take note that nowhere in this process does the entire XMPP URI originate from the directory source.
In your case you have two separate CUP clusters in two separate domains. This won't work because when a user searches for a contact in the directory using Jabber, the client will build the XMPP URI as [email protected]. Even if you got the other domain's user objects into the search results the right-hand-side of the URI would be wrong and the presence subscription would never succeed since the other cluster is in another domain. As such your first task must be to move the CUP clusters into the exact same fully-qualified DNS domain. Once this is done you can use Inter-Cluster Peering to build a larger XMPP network in which all users have the same presence domain. If you intend to do Inter-Domain Federation in the future this must be your public DNS domain, not your internal active directory domain. If you use a non-public DNS domain TLS handshake will never succeed for inter-domain federation requests.
Once you have Inter-Cluster Peering in place you can use Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (the new name for ADAM) to front-end both forests. Both CUCM clusters would need to import the full list of users representing both domains and the sAMAccountNames must be unique across both domains.
Finally, you can instruct Jabber to use UDS and query it's local CUCM cluster which will be able to return a search result from both domains. Since the CUP clusters are peered in the same domain the XMPP URI can be built properly, the presence subscription can be routed to the correct cluster, and life will be good.
By this point hopefully it's clear that EDI won't cut it since it would be limited to only returning search results from the local forest.

  • I deleted my gmail account a while back & realized that was the email I used for my sync now.

Hi all, Thanks ahead of time for any help. I've been using sync now for a while and works great and on all my devices. Now my issue is that I forgot that the email I use for my sync now was deleted and I don't know how to change it. I did save all bookmarks and favorites but wanted to know if there was a simple way to change my sync now email address to another gmail email. Just don't want to lose anything in case I delete and then try to load my sync now recovery key doesn't work with new email.

    You're welcome.
