Simple crop and the file size triples

Good day,
I'm trying to figure out why a video encoded using AME comes out with a much bigger file size than the original. Even if all I'm doing is using it to trim the source file. No change in settings, bit rate, dimensions etc.
In the current example I'm taking a webex recordings and trimming out some dead space in the beginning. I've lowered every setting (video and audio) I can to it's lowest potential and the resulting file looks worse than the original and is triple the file size. Both the source and the result are .mp4.
Please assist. The is making the files go from email-able to not. Making a video shorter shouldn't make it larger....
Thank you for your help.

When encoding to virtually ANY format, you will be able to set the BITRATE. This determines how big or small an output file is. Apparently, the file you are creating is running about 3x the bitrate of the source file. You can adjust the bitrate under the VIDEO tab in AME.
Not knowing the specs of the source, I can't suggest how to export. Perhaps if you post a screen shot of your export panel in AME, that will help. Note that if you choose "HD 1080p" H.264 preset that will be much larger than say "YouTube 1080p", there are many options.
Thank you

  • Trying to email a video and the file size is to large to attach.

Trying to email a friend a video and it says the file size is to large to attach.  How do I change this?

Go into your photo-video program and change the file size to the smallest resolution possible. Also limit the video to less than 30 seconds to a minute.
Then try sending again. The problem you are having is because the file is too large to send via the method you are using.
    Good Luck

  • How do I completely crop a PDF so that the cropped data is removed and the file size is reduced?

How do I completely crop a PDF so that the cropped data is removed and the total file size is reduced?
When I use the "Crop" function, the cropped data still remains in the file and there is no reduction in file size. I need a way to truly crop a PDF using Acrobat software.

When you export, try to get the full file path or else you will have to do a lot of manual searching.
If you downloaded the picture from Messages, the picture is stored in your User Library/Messages. to make your User Library visible, hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Messages/Attachments.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion/
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.4. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • How can I find the file size of an image within an iPhoto event or album?

In order to see the file size of any particular photo, I've been dragging a copy onto my desktop and using "get info." Is there a better way?
    I'm using 10.7.4 and iPhoto 11 v 9.3.2

    1. That's only getting the file size of the Preview.
    2. Click on a photo to select it. Then click on the info button. You can get the dimensions and the file size in the top of the pane
Note that the final size of any image will depend on the export settings you choose.

  • How to minimize the file size of a file with drawing markups

    Scenario:
I need to turn a sample of a report into a report template, so I am deleting as many objects as I can with the Tools>Content>Edit Object.  For text that I cannot delete that way, I am covering it up with a white box (Comment>Drawing Markups>square and setting outline = white and fill = white).  On this particular PDF, there are about 20 of these white boxes.  I'm then using Preflight>Flatten annotations and form fields to flatten all of the markups.
    Problem:
Unfortunately, even after using Preflight and Save As>Reduced Size PDF, the file size is still over 900 kb.  The original file size before I make any changes is less than 150 kb.  I need the final file size to be 200-300 kb.
    Settings:
    Windows 7
    Adobe Acrobat X Pro
    Solutions?
I may be going about this all wrong, so any advice you have is much appreciated!  The only other thing I can think of to do (since I can't get a blank sample report), is to recreate the report in Word and then PDF it.  I'm hoping there's a better solution.  I tried Photoshop first and the file sizes were in the MBs, so I switched to Acrobat.  Maybe a different program would work even better?

Basically that is what Bill is telling you. The best method is to:
create the design of the form in Word.
Save as a PDF (on a Mac the best method is to go to print menu click pdf and hold mouse or track pad button down, and Chose Adobe PDF) .
    Then open PDF in Acrobat
    Click on Tools
Click on Forms and create form. Either letting acrobat create the fields and add or take away fields as need.  Or create fields manually.
This way should you need to make correction you can open the original Word Document, Make chages save as PDF The in open original in PDF. Click on Tools > Pages and choose replace pages and replace desired page(s) as needed. Then readjust fields if needed or add or take fields as needed.

I am trying to decide if I want to download a tv show [Doctor Who] in standard definition or high definition.  How can I see the file size before I purchase the show from iTunes?

  • Why is the file size increasing when cropping in Photoshop CC?

While cropping a picture the file size is increasing dramatically.
An image 7360 X 4912 px (Image size : 103,4M) after cropping to 60 X 40 cm 300 px, goes up to an image of 18000 X 12000 px (Image size : 618,0 M). And the computer is unable to cope with such a file...
It wasn't like that when I first started to use the program.
I crop the same image using CS5 and the result is an image of 7087 X 4724 px (Image size : 95,8 M) which is normal...
    Will aprreciate help...

Thanks for replying. First I didn't have this problem in the beginning. I do the same in CS5 and I can do it with no problem.

  • In CS6, why the file size remains same after croping? And how do I reduce the size after each cropin

In CS6, why the file size remains same after croping? And how do I reduce the size after each croping? Thx

Select the Crop Tool and check the box [  ] Delete Cropped Pixels and you should see a reduction in file size.  With the box unchecked, the data is still maintained in the document, you just can't see it.

I have downloaded files from "Dropbox" and save in phones document directory,After downloading in document directory, the size of the download file is same as the actual size in dropbox. I can also open it from document directory.Everything is ok. But when I follow the same process for google drive files, the file size is compressed(if actual size of file is 1.2Mb the download file size is 61Kb). So I can not open it from document directory. So, How can i download the actual size of the file in document directory? I am using google api objectivec client for google drive.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Export QuickTime file with new audio and maintain the file size and quality as the original.

I shot some footage for a client yesterday and ran into an issue. To make a long story short I have QuickTime mov files shot with my Panasonic GH4 that have a buzzing sound in the audio track. I have clean audio from a recorder that can be sync'd. Is there a way for me to do this for the client and deliver them as the same QuickTime file but with the clean audio and keep the file size close to the original and not have quality loss in the image?
If so I will probably put all of the spanned clips together from each interview and sync the audio before delivery. I am just not sure which codec will give the client the same quality footage compared to the originals and not have a massive difference in the overall file size. They did request that they be Quicktime MOV files though so that is a must.
I don't see this as an option in the codecs in the export settings in PP, but is there a way to export as ProRes or another MAC native codec that will save them from having to convert it on their end? I am on a PC with Adobe CS5.5 so I am not too familiar with MACs, but from what I understand they would need to convert the files if I sent them straight out of the camera.
I found some related search results for this but they pertained to "Best quality" for export. I am not sure how the varying options work but I don't want to create files that are considerably larger, just not less quality.
If anyone has experience with this it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Cole

Here's the workflow: I imported the video footage into iMovie '08 and did my edits. Then I exported it (share) to my desktop with compression set @ 740 X 480. Then I used QuickTime Pro to fix the audio track. The file plays perfectly with both audio tracks working. It's a QuickTime file (.mov).
I hope this jars any replies as to why the file when uploaded to my iWeb gallery drops the second audio track.

  • I imported an hour of video into iMovie HD and cut it down to a 33 sec clip, and emptied the trash.  When I save the project, the file size is 20Gb.  How can I save just the 33 sec clip?

I imported an hour of video into iMovie HD and cut it down to a 33 sec clip, and emptied the trash.  When I save the project, the file size is 20Gb.  How can I save just the 33 sec clip?

Non-destructive editing is an important feature of iMovie HD 6.
iMovie preserves the entire copy of every clip you place into your movie in case you change your mind at a later stage.
So, if you have cut out one minute from a 45 minute clip, iMovie will have stored two complete copies of that clip. This is why is helps to set import as 3-5 minute clips rather than one huge chunk. As DV runs at 13GB per hour your project files can get very big.
One workaround is to complete the editing of a section of the movie, then export that to Quicktime: highlight the clip/s, choose Share-Quicktime, turn on Share selected clips only, and choose Full Quality from the pop-ip menu.
Once you have saved the stand-alone clip to your hard drive, you can re-import it into your project using the File/Import command, and delete the original long clip/s from the project.

  • How do I find out the file size of my photos, and change them to the size

This will sound inane, but I cannot figure out where to find the file size of my photos in iPhoto. I need a jpeg of a certain file size and image size for my blog background, but can't figure out how to even start.

If the limited quality options do not get you the file size you need export the full size image files to a folder on your Desktop and use Resize! to batch resize the image dimensions and file size (jpeg compression level) to what you need.
With Resize! you can fine tune the pixel dimensions and file size.

  • How do I find out what the file size is before I purchase and download a movie?

I cannot find the file size for movies or TV shows anywhere on iTunes. I need to know how big the file is before I download it.

    What is "Other"
It’s generally a combination of local caches from apps, browsers, mail, Messages, Reading List, saved games, app-specific documents and data, notes, and voice memos.
You can backup and restore to reduce "other" but they will start building up over time.

  • I am trying to make a pdf of a file and I need to get the file size to be no bigger than 10MB. What is the best way to do this

I am trying to make a pdf of a file and I need to get the file size to be no bigger than 10MB. Even when I save it, the image quality at minimum the file size is 10.9 MB. What is the best way to do this

@Barbara – What purpose is that PDF for? Print? Web?
If web purpose, you could convert CMYK images to sRGB. That would reduce the file size as well.
A final resort to bring down file size is:
    1. Print to PostScript
    2. Distill to PDF
That would bring file size down even more. About 20%, depending on the images and other contents you are using, compared with the Acrobat Pro method. If you like you could send me a personal message, so we could exchange mail addresses. I could test for you. Just provide the highres PDF without any downsampling and transparency intact. Best provide a PDF/X-4.
I will place the PDF in InDesign, print to PostScript, distill to PDF.

  • I have a few hundred duplicates in my iPhoto library, but the file sizes are different.  So one is 1.3mb and one is 567kb.  I want to delete the smaller ones, but short of comparing each duplicate, is there a way to do this?

I have a few hundred duplicates in my iPhoto library, but the file sizes are different.  So one is 1.3mb and one is 567kb.  I want to delete the smaller ones, but short of comparing each duplicate, is there a way to do this?  I've been looking at Duplicate Annhilator but I don't think it can do it.
    Thanks!

I just ran a test with iPhoto Library Manager, Duplicate Annihilator, iPhoto Duplicate Cleaner, Duplifinder and Photodedupo.  I imported a folder of 5 photos into a test library 3 times, allowing iPhoto to import duplicates.  I then ran the 5 photos thru resizer to reduce their jpeg compression but all other aspects of the file the same.
None of the duplicate removal apps found set that was reduced in the file resizer. That's probably due to the fact that the file creation date was being used as a criteria and the resized photo would have a different file creation date even though the Image Capture date was the same.
They all found the 3 regular duplicates and some of them would mark two and leave the 3rd unmarked.  iPhoto Duplicate Cleaner can sort the found duplicates by file size but if the file was edited to get the reduced file size it might not be found as it would have a different file creation/modification date.
iPhoto Library Manage was able to find all duplicates and mark them as such if the file names were the same the the filename option was selected.  Otherwise it also missed the modified, resized version.  It allowed one to select the one photo to save before going to work on the library.
So if a photo has been reduced in image quality or pixel size it will not be considered a duplicate.
