Simple editor for Apple TV video?

I'm looking for something simple for editing video for the Apple TV, just to chop off the ends and some interior segments (eliminate commercials). The editor that's part of Eye TV works very well for this, I can control on a frame level where the cuts are made, then export to Apple TV. But I've been having trouble finding a similar solution for other video and there seems no way to get non-Eye TV recorded video into Eye TV that I can figure out.
I've tried iMovie 08 and iMovie HD, ugh. I don't want a project that takes hours to process on import from H.264. I've tried MPEG Streamclip and it doesn't seem to give me the fine-grained control I'm looking for. Maybe QuickTime Pro? Anyone have any other suggestions? I guess I'm looking for something that's got simple splicing/cutting, not the more elaborate stuff iMovie does. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I don't think QTPro would be an option as even with the MPEG2 plugin I don't think you can edit muxed audio/video and you just end up with a silent video. May work for other formats though.
Part of the problem is likely to be the fact that most compressed formats do not store every individual frame, but store key frames and 'delta' data indicating the change from the key frames. Many editors snap to the key frames when editing which doesn't give you that perfect control. I've got the EyeTV software but never really edited with it.
There was Windows software by a company called Womble that allowed single frame MPEG editing; I suspect there's a Mac solution I'm not aware of.
Might be worth saying which formats specifically you're trying to edit apart from those EyeTV recordings.

Simple editor for pdf files!

I've tried a couple of pdf editors, for various tasks. So I wanted to pass on what I feel is a very comprhensive, easy to use program.
The program is called Infix, it's prduced by a company called iceni and it can be downloaded and used right away!
I first found it usefulness in filling out government documents. Instead of downloading the documents, printing them out, filling them out, scanning them and finally sending them, I download them into infix, fill them out and send them...it's that easy! I also found it an easy way to hight different parts of a document and printing it out, already highlighted and ready for the meeting!
So. if you want to edit pdf forms, or even write them, this is one super tool to use!

First you have to be an idiot to turn it way way up; but the simple solution Apple can easily do is to make the volume control level bar turn red when it gets to a possibly damaging level for those folks who can't figure it out themselves...;-) That could be a simple update to add some color.....

Creating a simple score for a short video piece?

It is not clear to me how to create music in Soundtrack Pro 2, or even if Soundtrack Pro is capable of doing this. (Is there documentation about this? If so, I have failed to find it.)
As a result, I decided to switch to GarageBand and use the provided Final Cut Pro content. Unfortunately, each time GarageBand attempts to access an apple loop from the Final Cut Studio content, I recieve an error "The audio file "filename.caf" has a 0 bit format and can't be used."
Counterpoint to this, all of the GarageBand content is hi-lighted in red and inaccessible. Is this normal?
Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.

That is, you're going the Browser (in the lower right corner of the interface) in STP and navigating to the Apple Loops for Garageband folder (which on my system is Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Apple Loops for GarageBand) and you're not able to import files?
Not necessarily related, but switch over to the Search tab and click Setup... and make sure that the above folder for the Garageband Loops is being indexed. If it is, you should be able to access GB loops when searching.

Looking for apple software video and tutorials

Can anyone please direct me to free how to apple tutorial for maverick software. Specifically icloud how to use with w third party, pages, numbers and assistive technology.
One on One expired and there have been so many updates I am not able to maximize the use of my notebook and all advantages with iphone.
Does apple have workshops or one on one extension classes at low or no cost? I see a number of how to tutorials on app store but they are third party apps not apple certified or made by apple.

One simple question for Apple Configurator

I was wondering if possible to adjust setting on a Ipad anytime i wish by wifi.
I always doing my setting for the profile when my ipad is plug (USB) in my mac mini. I wish that i can change the setting for all profile without the need to plug in my computer. Is there a method, please let me know.

If you need the functionality of Configurator, but want changes pushed over the internet instead of having to connect using a white wire, you need the Profile Manager service provided by OS X Server. That's what it does.

Simple question for Apple Support, iTunes fails after immediate error message.

I am currently in a situation that after starting up iTunes (on Windows), immediately a pop-up error message tells me " Nieuwe iTunes-bibliotheek", i.e. "New iTunes Library"
After this message nothing happens anymore. Any help will be appreciated.

I don't know if any of this will help, but the first thing I'd suggest is to get a good antispyware checker and give it a go at your system. Some recent spyware has been reported by other users to shut down iTunes or prevents it from launching. From user reports, Ewido seems to be the best at catching it. You can download a free version of Ewido here.
If that doesn't cure the problem, try deleting the iTunes preference files:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
and
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Data\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
You might have to turn on "show hidden files" to find them. (Right click "my computer", select open, select Tools menu -> Folder Options. Select View tab, "show hidden files" radio button is in the center scrolling panel.) Delete them. This will force iTunes to run the setup assistance the next time you run it and you'll have to go back and set any preferences you've changed from the default.

FCE and Export for Apple TV

I want to be able to use FCE to edit my HD footage from my Sony HD7 camcorder then display results through Apple TV. I know I will lose resolution, but am having one particular problem. After importing clips to FCE I exported to Quicktime movie, then opened the file in Quicktime and exported to Apple TV. The resulting video seems "jerky" at least to my eyes. Almost like every other frame was cut out. Do I need to export from FCE at a different resolution or frame rate to get the export to Apple TV looking better?

Original File from Sony HDR-HC7
Video Tracks:
Apple Intermediate Codec, 1440 x 1080, 29.97 fps, 98.77 Mbps
Audio Tracks:
16-bit Big Endian stereo, 48 kHz, 1.54 Mbps
Export direct as QuickTime movie and conversion to Apple TV seems to show some jagged sharp motion to my eyes, so I tried the steps below and got a more fluid result.
The exported from FCE to 1280 x 720 with these settings:
Compression: H.264
Quality: High
Key Frame Rate: 24
Frame Rendering: Yes
Encoding Mode” multi-pass
Dimensions: 1280 x 720
Results of export from Final Cut
H.264, 1280 x 720, 29.97 fps, 17.48 Mbps
16-bit Big Endian stereo, 48 kHz, 1.54 Mbps
Then converting that to Apple TV file (opened in QuickTime and used export for Apple TV):
Video Tracks:
H.264, 960 x 540, 29.97 fps, 3.81 Mbps
Could be that Export to QuickTime Movie makes an Apple Intermediate Codec file and the export using QT conversion made an H264 codec. Perhaps there is a difference in the way the QT function "export to Apple TV" handles those two codecs???

Suitable Apple Extention for a PC video

I own a CD Rom of a video that can only be opened by WIndows 95 or higher, PC format only. It is part of a course on vocal improvement. A friend has a PC, and thinks he can copy the video for me, but he is not current with Apple requirements, and has asked me to tell him an extention to save it, then he can duplicate it for me.
I really don't think it will play on my iMac. I can open the CD itself for the lists, and the items that will not open - are called: vssver.scc and autorun.inf and browsercall.exe
I think my question is - I need to know the letters to put after the period, that Apple can run, like 'exe' above. What does Apple use. My PC friend called this an extention.

.EXE files are simply like Mac OS X applications, but designed only to run in Windows.
What you need to know is the CD format, and the document format of the video, and version of the document format. If you know those three, you know what will allow a Mac to read it. See my FAQ*:

Unfortunately the iMac G5 will have a hard time running .EXE files due to the requirement for emulation. Video files that have no DRM are usually pretty easy to convert to a format the iMac G5 will read. CDs of the Joliet format are not as easily read as ISO 9660 CDs. A FAT16 or FAT32 flash drive should mount on the iMac G5 just fine.
The SCC file is a file that can be read by a program called Annotation Edit:

You'll need the video of the file converted to Windows Media version 9 or earlier without DRM or Quicktime.

Convert Selection for Apple TV produces file without video

Good morning. I have a .MP4 file (H.264 codec) that plays just fine in iTunes. However, it won't sync to my Apple TV, saying it's not compatible. When I run "Convert Selection for Apple TV," iTunes hums away for a few minutes and then produces a file with the proper length and clean sound, but a blank picture. Any ideas?

I've had the same type of problem. A 720p video that plays fine in QT is accepted by iTunes but will not transfer to my AppleTV. I used the convert for Apple TV option and the resulting file would download to the Apple TV but the playback is just a whitescreen with sound.
When I convert videos sometimes iTunes or AppleTV won't accept them but I've yet to figure out why - resolution, bitrate, and complexity are the same yet some work and others don't.

Lower the video resolution on iphone 5 for Apple TV?

Can you lower the video resolution on iPhone 5 so that it will play on Apple TV. Now it takes forever for a short video to buffer. I know I can convert it to a lower resolution myself - once the video is complete - but many videos, such as kids' birthday parties are fine at lower resolution, and I'd love to be able to show them immediately on TV.

I hope apple fix this issue in the next update
for now you can disable any settings that running and you aren't using it (apps/games, wifi, bluetooth...etc)
only keep what you need.
