Simple ejb in jboss

Hi
I am developing cmp in jboss 3.x
I coded ejb classes. Had ejb-jar xml in place and jboss.xml too.
Created a jar and deployed and it deployed sucessfully. Now i write a client to access it. I dosent find that entity and throws me ObjectNotFoundException. Now like in weblogic we give datasource in one of the xml file i did not c any place where i mention which datanase to use. Then where is my bean going and how to point to particular db.
I have oracle-ds.xml pointing to one datasource but no where in ejb or xmls i have said use this datasource. How does this work ?
Thanks

ObjectNotFoundException is usualy thrown when no entry was found corresponding to the pk argument.
where in your code did u get this exception? (watching)

  • Deploying EJB under JBOSS-Tomcat bundle

    Hi
    I am trying to perform a proof of concept using a simple EJB. I have downloaded and installed the jboss-3.2.0RC1_tomcat-4.1.18 co-bundle. Now, can anyone tell me how I deploy my simple EJB under this? Is there any documentation or tutorial anywhere?
    Currently I have copied the following directory structure into %JBOSS_HOME%\server\default\deploy
    Login.war
        {jsp files}
        au
            com
                keytrust
                    {class files}
        META-INF
            ejb-jar.xmlThis deploys without error, but gives me an exception "javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: ejb not bound" when I try to access the ejb.
    Can anyone help me, or direct me to an appropriate reference?
    Thanks

    Hi.
    Here is the session portion from one of my working ejb-jar.xml descriptors:
        <session>
          <display-name>ConferenceController</display-name>
          <ejb-name>ConferenceControllerEJB</ejb-name>
          <home>com.gumbtech.conf.ejb.ConferenceControllerHome</home>
          <remote>com.gumbtech.conf.ejb.ConferenceController</remote>
          <ejb-class>com.gumbtech.conf.ejb.ConferenceControllerBean</ejb-class>
          <session-type>Stateful</session-type>
          <transaction-type>Bean</transaction-type>
          <ejb-ref>
            <ejb-ref-name>ejb/ConferenceHome</ejb-ref-name>
            <ejb-ref-type>Entity</ejb-ref-type>
            <home>com.gumbtech.conf.ejb.ConferenceHome</home>
            <remote>com.gumbtech.conf.ejb.Conference</remote>
            <ejb-link>ConferenceEJB</ejb-link>
          </ejb-ref>
          <security-identity>
            <description></description>
            <run-as>
              <description></description>
              <role-name>admin</role-name>
            </run-as>
          </security-identity>
        </session>And the matching portion from it's sister jboss.xml descriptor:
      <session>
        <ejb-name>ConferenceControllerEJB</ejb-name>
        <jndi-name>ConferenceControllerHome</jndi-name>
        <ejb-ref>
          <ejb-ref-name>ejb/ConferenceHome</ejb-ref-name>
          <jndi-name>ejb.ConferenceHome</jndi-name>
        </ejb-ref>
        <ejb-ref>
          <ejb-ref-name>ejb/StatelessConferenceHome</ejb-ref-name>
          <jndi-name>ejb.StatelessConferenceHome</jndi-name>
        </ejb-ref>
        <resource-ref>
          <jndi-name>java:/OracleDS</jndi-name>
        </resource-ref>
      </session>After losing an entire head of hair over this, the only thing that worked for me, thanks to no documentation anywhere, was to ensure that the EJB portion of my ejb-name that you see below was present on the end of each and every bean I declared in my descriptors ...
    <ejb-name>ConferenceControllerEJB</ejb-name>...and that this name was identical in both jboss.xml and ejb-jar.xml.
    Notice too that the newer jboss uses dots instead of slashes in the jndi-name of another ejb I am referencing from my bean:
    <jndi-name>ejb.ConferenceHome</jndi-name>You don't reference another bean yet, but if you do ...this will hang you for weeks as well until you get that dot in there.
    Furthermore, I found was so paranoid by this point that I never again wavered from keeping the following naming convention for my class names (??):
    The remote interface: MyThing
    The bean implementation: MyThingBean
    The home interface: MyThingHome
    Then, finally ...the darn thing worked.
    They use reflection maybe ?
    Hope this might help.

  • Error in deploying a simple EJB 3.0

    Hi ,
    I am getting the following error while deploying my simple ejb of version 3.0 in Weblogic 9.2.
    Exception preparing module: EJBModule(build) [EJB:011023]An error occurred while reading the deployment descriptor. The error was: Error processing annotations: java.lang.NullPointerException.
    During my evaluation of Weblogic 9.2 for EJB 3.0 , I have got the following questions.
    EJB Specification states that EJB's in EJB 3.0 can be developed and deployed without the need of deployment descriptors. I have created a simple EJB with two file Env.java and EnvBean.java and the source code is given below.
    a) I just complied these class files and when I was trying to deploy without ejb-jar.xml and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml, the console was not at all allowing me to deploy.Why is this so?
    b) After I created a META-INF file under root of classes directory by placing ejb-jar.xml with empty <enterprise-beans> element, console was allowing me to deploy with errors in parsing ejb-jar.xml. The error was either session/entity/mdb is a required under <enterprise-beans> element. Why is this required when there are several examples stating <enterprise-beans> element can be empty.
    c) Later I updated ejb-jar.xml with <session> element under <enterprise-beans> with the following values. I got the above error when deployed with this change.
    I had been struggling to deploy this simple bean for almost a day.Pleas point me if there is any documentation that solves my stated problem or if there is a solution.Thanks in advance.
    regards
    Karim

  • Very simple EJB 3.0 MDB but I get NullPointerException

    I tried to create a very simple EJB 3.0 Message Driven Bean in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 as follows:
    Message Driven Bean Class:
    import javax.ejb.MessageDriven;
    import javax.jms.Message;
    import javax.jms.MessageListener;
    @MessageDriven(mappedName="MDBQueue")
    public class MDB implements MessageListener {
    public void onMessage(Message message) {
    System.out.println("Got message!");
    Application Client:
    import javax.annotation.Resource;
    import javax.jms.*;
    public class MDBAppClient {
    @Resource(mappedName="MDBQueueConnectionFactory")
    private static QueueConnectionFactory queueCF;
    @Resource(mappedName="MDBQueue")
    private static Queue mdbQueue;
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    try {
    QueueConnection queueCon = queueCF.createQueueConnection();
    QueueSession queueSession = queueCon.createQueueSession
    (false, Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE);
    QueueSender queueSender = queueSession.createSender(null);
    TextMessage msg = queueSession.createTextMessage("hello");
    queueSender.send(mdbQueue, msg);
    System.out.println("Sent message to MDB");
    queueCon.close();
    } catch(Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    But I get the following error:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
         at model.MDBAppClient.main(MDBAppClient.java:17)
    I read similar problem in the this thread:
    Re: message driven bean on ejb 3.0 does not work
    some one said that the version in ejb-jar.xml must be changed from 2.1 to 3.0
    but in this case there is no ejb-jar.xml.
    ( I have other cases with ejb-jar.xml file but I can't change the version in ejb-jar.xml)
    the version in web.xml is 2.4 but it not accept any value except 2.4 and an error occur when I tried to change it to 3.0
    please can you tell me why I get NullPointerException and how can I allow EJB 3.0 MDB and JMS to work in JDeveloper

    Note that you can't run MDBs in the embedded OC4J in JDeveloper - try deploying to a stand-alone install of OC4J and see if it works there.

  • Simple EJB 3.0 stateless session

    Hi,
    I want write a simple EJB 3.0 application on Sun System Java Application Server 9.0 , Can any one help me on the following topic
    1.how should develope a Stateless session.
    2. what are jar files are required
    3. where should place Bean, Business Interface and required files.
    4. Is ejb-jar.xml required. ( As of my knowledge deployement descriptor are not required for EJB 3.0, is it correct)
    5. how should i complie those files.
    6. how should generated RMI components
    If you know any good url on this please help me.
    Thanks, hope excepecting reply soon..

    1.how should develope a Stateless session.write business interfaces and bean classes. I would use an IDE like NetBeans 5.5 to automate some of these tasks.
    2. what are jar files are required You application will need $SJSAS_HOME/lib/javaee.jar
    3. where should place Bean, Business Interface and
    required files.In a jar file, at the root of this jar file. Then you can deploy this ejb jar file to server (using asadmin deploy, admin gui, or autodeploy). The server will scan your jar file and detect it's a ejb jar file and process all metadata.
    4. Is ejb-jar.xml required. ( As of my knowledge
    deployement descriptor are not required for EJB 3.0,
    is it correct)Not required. You can use annotation to provide most or all metadata.
    5. how should i complie those files.For simple cases, use javac should work. For example, javac -classpath $SJSAS_HOME/lib/javaee.jar:. -d /tmp/classes *.java
    But I would suggest using an IDE like NetBeans 5.5, which has various wizards to help you create bean classes and interfaces.
    6. how should generated RMI components
    If you know any good url on this please help me.http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/

    I'm trying the "Oracle JDeveloper 11g Tutorials" - "Create a Simple EJB Session Bean", I just follow the instructions in that page. But when I tried to run it, it always failed. Can anyone help me to have a look. I paste the log below. thank you.

    Steve,
    I'm facing the same issue as user#####.
    Your workaround does not work ; when I deploy manuelly the ear file, with a new weblogic-application.xml, I get the same error.
    Does that happen a lot ? :p

  • Problems deploying a simple EJB

    I am trying to deploy a simple EJB on the 8.1.5. The bean only owns a single method that needs a unique parameter.
    No problems with compilation of source bean, home and remote interfaces, whatever the type of this parameter is.
    But when I try to deploy the jar on the server, I only succeed if the parameter of my method is a simple type (int, String ...).
    If I try the same passing a complex type (here a oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument type), I encounter this message from the deployejb tool :
    Generating EJBHome and EJBObject on the server...
    Compilation errors in oracle/aurora/ejb/gen/test_myFluxInsert/EjbObject_FluxInsert:ORA-29535: source requires recompilationjava/lang/Object: Authorization error for referenced class Oracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLDocument.java/lang/Object: Authorization error for referenced class oracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLDocument.oracle/aurora/ejb/gen/test_myFluxInsert/EjbObject_FluxInsert:50: Class oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument not found in type declaration.
    public java.lang.String insereFlux (oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLDocument arg0)
    ^ Info: 3 errors
    And if I use an int instead of the XMLDocument parameter, everithing's right.
    Can anybody submit a no-paranormal solution ?
    Thanks.
    GH

    Parameter passing in EJB must implement Serializable. One way to solve this is:
    1. Define a new class which implements
    Serializable.
    2. Place whatever you want to pass inside
    this class.
    3. Now use the new class as your parameter.
    eg.
    public class Params implements java.io.Serializable {
    String p1;
    XmlDocmuent xdoc;,
    etc, etc
    Your program now have to use the class Params for parameter passing.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to deploy simple EJB example with J2EE Ref. Impl.

    Hi there,
    I'm new to EJB development so please bare with me. I've written a simple EJB, taken from Enterprise JavaBeans by Richard Monson-Haefel (O'Reilly). I can compile the code without problems, load it into the J2EE deployment tool (I'm using version 1.3.1 of the J2EE Reference Implementation), and have succesfully set up the data source and SQL commands for each persistent field.
    When it comes to deployment, I'm stumped with the following error:

    Here's the stacktrace in the error logs:

  • How to create the simple EJB Applications.

    Hi
    I have asked about the what are the necessary softwares required for creating the Simple EJB Applications.
    I have
    Jdk 1.6,
    Netbeans 5.5,
    J2EE5 ,
    Apache Tomcat 5.5
    what are other necessary softwares?please tell me From where i get the source code samples?
    Please Tell me it is necessary for me..

    Hi U,
    Tomcat is only JSP/Servlet container -- no EJB support.
    Easiest is to download the Netbeans 6.1 bundle including Glassfish and JavaDB, thats all you need + JDK and Java EE of course.
    Glassfish has both web/JSP/Servlet-container and EJB-container, so Tomcat is not needed then.
    ( If for some reason you really want to use Tomcat, you can use it together with OpenEJB for example, to add EJB-support. )

    set STARMODE=false in config/mydomain/startWebLogic script file to start WebLogic server in development mode.
    Copy Ejb jar file to config/mydomain/applications directory.

  • Flex and EJB with JBOSS

    Hi!
    I have a web application running on JBOSS 4.0.4 and using EJB/EJB3.
    The main goal is simple, i need to substitute some JSP pages with flex.
    I'm a total newbie with flex and i don't even know how to get started.
    What do i need? Only BlazeDS or something more? Is there some tutorial with a step by step explanation?
    I appreciate your help.

    You cant really replace Struts with Flex, maybe a view part
    , thats about is, you still need backend processioning
    logic,all that you are asking is difficult to answer is one reply,
    IMHO, best thing you can do is to dive into following URLs :
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/

    I'm aware of a "bug" of Weblogic 9.2 to 10.02 that weblogic adds first his jars instead the web-inf\lib jars I have added this xml's to the weblogic-application.xml
         <wls:prefer-application-packages>
              <wls:package-name>org.apache.log4j.*</wls:package-name>
         </wls:prefer-application-packages>
    Please note a add the weblogic-application.xml in ejb META-INF folder , as well in the EAR META-INF folder
    That doesn't resolve my problem has you can imagine already
    I'm using log4j 1.2.15 and log4j extras both download from maven repository
    I'll really appreciate some sort of guide since this problem is really annoying me
