Simple Green Wipes on my Macbook Pro?

Hey guys/gals,
Just looking to clean some dirt off of my aluminum macbook pro. I was wondering if it is ok to use Simple Green Wipes on top of the aluminum? Or is that not recommended? I have heard mixed things about them on top of untreated aluminum but I do not know how rust resistant the macbook pro is. Also, I would be using it sparingly to parts away from ports/my screen/the speakers. Please let me know!
Thanks!

My recollection that that Apple recommends only a cloth dampened with water. Check your owners' manual, but I think you're potentially asking for trouble.

  • Wipe out my MacBook Pro

I want to wipe out my MacBook Pro so I can give it away.  Is there a guide or support on how to wipe it out so it is ready to go for a new user?

Which OS version did it originally come with?
You are showing that you are running Lion; if you purchased that at the app store, you must remove it as the license is not transferable. You will need to wipe your drive and use the original install disks to reinstall the original system.
Post back if it came with Lion for instructions on how to do it.

  • Wipe and reset macbook pro

I want to wipe and reset my macbook pro, how do I do that?
And I have purchased OS X lion on App Store, will I be able to download this again after it's wiped?

If I were you I would simply boot into your Lion Recovery partition (hold down the command and R keys whilst booting) erase your boot partition (usually named Macintosh HD), and the reinstall Lion. Note that you will probably need your Apple ID and password.
Your Recovery partition won't be erased, but th epartition that you actually 'see' will be erased and all of your apps, data, etc., will be erased and you'll have a clean operating system.

How To Prepare a Mac For Sale

  • Simple Questions regarding temperatures for MacBook Pro

    Hey,
I just bought a brand new Macbook Pro Mid-2012 2.9 Ghz, i7 Processor, 8 GB of ram, and 750 HDD. It's my first Mac I've bought I'm switching over from an overheating windows laptop.
Now my Mac gets extremely hot under light usage. First thing I did is get iStat to measure temperature. I also went into an Apple Store to get diagnostics done to make sure all hardware, sensors, everything is working and that test passed. Although I realized my Macbook never goes down 100F. Is that normal? All I have open is safari, finder, and maybe a few other apps. I've checked activity monitor and don't see nothing to high. So is 100F normal?
Another issue I have is with Chrome. I used Google Chrome a lot on my windows and I want to on my MacBook too, although when using chrome it gets very hot and very high temperatures such as 170-190F. I've stopped using chrome and use safari, and now I'm at 120F. Why does Chrome do that, is there a fix?
Also, when watching youtube videos using flash I also get very high temperatures such as 150-170F.
So are these temperatures normal? What temperature should my MacBook Pro be at? And what are good temperatures to keep my MacBook Pro at, meaning not exceeding it.
I'd love any opinions and helpful responses.
    Thanks,
    Jai

Yeah I know there isn't a normal temperature but I meant an ideal temperature to keep it running at, which you did answer to thanks.
But here's the deal, I only have been web browsing so far not even mail, and I never go beneath 115F. Especially when using Chrome, my CPU get's used a lot and I reach unto 170F when using chrome, but on safari I can go down to 125F for web browsing only. As we speak I'm on 128F.
    Is there anything wrong?
(I forgot to add that when I took it into an Apple Store, one of the geniuses told me not to use chrome as its eating up CPU and heating my MacBook and told me to use Safari, if I wanted to run my MacBook cooler)

  • Simple questions of a new macbook pro user

i have the 13 inch macbook pro 2011 .firstly what is the core function of the thunderbolt port.secondly i know how to calibrate my mac battery( which runs 3-4 hours maximum) in order to to increase battery efficiency but how do i do this long process in pakistan where there is atleast 12 hours of load shedding. this means charging battery with continuous breaks.thirdly why do i receive a small electric shock sometimes when my elbow slightly touches the laptop ......................and finally does the aluminium body of the macbook gets scratches and if it does are they removable

I will try to answer your questions:
    1. Go to system preference --> appearance --> then you will see an option to double click title bar to minimize.
    2. You can drag the window to maximize safari and it should "learn" this preference though I have a bookmark titled resize that I click on that maximizes my window. If you add a book mark and make the address this: javascript:self.moveTo(0,0);self.resizeTo(screen.availWidth,screen.availHeight) ;

I have been looking at answers to this question by others in the community, but the instructional steps for fixing don't seem to start back far enough for me to be able to follow them. • Green vertical line on MacBook Pro 15 inch 2.53 GHZ (purchased 06/09)

I wanted to make people aware of a vertical green line which appeared 2 weeks after the 1 year warranty expired. The Apple Store said the display assembly needed to be replaced ($492.00 to fix). Pretty disappointing to get such an expensive hardware problem on a fairly new computer. Just wanted to make people aware.

    A mid 15" 2009 MBP will accept 8 GB RAM with the following specifications:  204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM.
The best sources of Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.
    Ciao.

    NO!
Not sure how much it can handle but it's running quite slow so I'd like to upgrade the RAM if possible.
There may be other reasons why your MBP is slow.  RAM is usually not the cure unless you are running a lot of applications.

Include the 3rd party software discs when you sell the computer.  Let the new user install them if they want.

  • Bright(dead pixels) replacement policy macbook pro retina

Yes i have had it tested and it is a confirmed hardware related pixel problem. I have 4 bright green pixels on my macbook pro retina 15 inch which is very annoying when you are working in (the dead pixels are in the middle of the screen!)processing applications like the kinect/photoshop. And this meets apples policy critera and according to it i should receive a product replacemnet not a simple screen replacement( the product is the macbook pro not the screen) and the apple stores in india say that they do not follow this policy, no where on the internet or anywhere have i heard this. Apple is renowned for its worldwide support, but it from one place and have similar support everywhere. I bought the laptop(the highest end with 16 gb ram for my projects, 2.7) whoch costed me about 4000 US dollars now when you pay that much you cannot live with people opening your laptop and replacing some parts in it(remember the unibody part?). And i am also experienceing burn in issues for a long time( due to the inferior screen that i was provided with- yes the LG display). I am really annoyed and will take the laptop to honk kong where i bought it from and will not settle without a product replacemnet per se apples policy. Again india seriously??

  • When the battery charged fully in macbook pro and the charger (AC Adapter)

when the battery charged fully in macbook pro and the charger (AC Adapter) is connecting (Showing Green Lamp) to the macbook pro does that effect to the battery live of the macbook pro with Retina Display 15'' ME665
Also I want know the Best headphone compatible with macbook pro Retina that help me to Hear and Record ?
Notes ( the macbook pro 15" has just one port for the headphone usually it's tow for record and hear)
    Best Regards,

The MacBook Pro charging circuit will charge the battery until it reaches 100% charge and then switch to power mode for the MBP.  When the battery drops to 93-95% charge the circuit will switch back to charging mode to top off the battery charge again.  You will not harm the battery or MBP by leaving it plugged in most of the time.
There are many good headphone/microphone combinations on the market, best really is more a function of how much money you want to spend.  Check those offered in the Apple on-line store for features/price to see what would best fit your needs.  You can also look at audio equipment suppliers, all the earphones need is a standard 3.5 mm plug.

iTunes is a mess! It couldn't find it's own libraries and I was forced to create a new one. Now I don't know where my music is or if any's missing.

    It's not crap at all.
It's not that simple. For example, I've 3500 songs on my MacBook but don't want them all on my phone, so I have to manually select each song again???
There has to be a solution.
Why not simply make a playlist with the songs you want on the iPhone?
and maintain a current backup of your computer.

I'm still learning and am very afraid of doing something that will wipe out all info, contacts and photos. Entering this site, the account shows my partners name, but accepts my other information.

First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.
    What computer do you have?
