Simple (I hope) cable/mux quest

I just got a new SB Li've 24-bit external (USB) sound card.
I have two PC's (one WinXP, one linux (gentoo)) that I use with a KVM switch.
I've installed the SB on my XP box, and now the audio is coming through the USB connection instead of the rear-panel audio port. I like that, because now the audio doesn't switch back and forth with the KVM focus.
I also have an MP3 player which I've connected to the LineIn on the SB.
What I'd like, is a simple 3.5mm audio mux that will take two inputs and mux
them to one output. In short, I want the linux rear-panel audio and the MP3
player to both come through the LineIn on the SB (which hooks up to my speaker).
I'm assuming this isn't rocket science, but I've struggled to google anything related
to 3.5mm audio muxing that doesn't bring me to some high-end professional audio site.
This is anything but hi-end, I simply want to be able to hear audio from both machines
regardless of which box is being controlled by the kvm....
So you don't think I'm completely nuts, I'm not trying to listen to multple
streams, or use the SB on my linux box (yet :-), I simply want my calendar audio
alarms to be heard regardless of which box my kvm is switched to...
Pointers to a link and/or proper description of this little muxer that will help me
track it down on google would be great.
I'm new to audio so I simply don't have the terminology to do proper searching.
Thanks Heaps!
Frank.

hi i m in qatar and i dont find facetime or video calling in my iphone4. i have contacted network provider they say to contact apple. i am feeling ashamed of keeping this expensive mobile without such simple facility. hope wil be adressed

    I'm not missing anything.
"My Ipad was purchased in the US.  All 3 iphones are factory unlocked by apple, the 4 was purchased at Duty Free in the Airport, the 4s from the US and the Iphone 5 was purchased in Qatar yesterday, factory unlocked by apple brought in from the UK.  All products are bought from official sources and are not jailbroken devices."
Please explain how an iPad purchased by you in the US was intended TO BE SOLD BY APPLE IN QATAR, and the same for an iPhone BROUGHT IN FROM THE UK. iOS devices intended to be sold by Apple in Qatar are shipped by Apple direct to Qatar - direct to an official carrier or carriers or an official retailer if there are any there.
I also provided this, WHICH YOU OBVIOUSLY MISSED.
Since your iOS devices were intended for sale by Apple in a country where FaceTime isn't restricted by the government, you had and should have access to FaceTime on those iOS devices.
If not after iOS 6 was installed, call AppleCare or whichever official retailer or carrier in the country handles service for and troubleshooting for iOS devices.

  • Simple (I hope) Combo/list box question

I am using Acrobat Pro 9, I have a combo list that allows a person to choose male or female.  I want the default to be blank so that if they don't have a dependent it isn't showing male or female. It doesn't allow me when I go to properties, any suggestions?  I do not work with script at all so that's not an option for me.
    Thank you!!!

This might not be the absolutely best answer, but I was just able to game the properties by adding an option that is only a space...as in one click on the space bar. Then I made that the default.
I'd be interested to know if there's a better way to do what you're after, but I think this one works.

  • Simple (I hope) Correlation Set question

    Hi,
    I have three composites A, B and C
    Composite A calls Composite B
Composite B may call direct back to A, or it may call C
Composite C will always call back to A
I need to use Correlation Sets to make this work.
Composite A has a wsdl (a.wsdl) which includes a Response Message (which B or C will use)
Composite B has a wsdl (b.wsdl) which includes a Request Message. (A will call it’s request message)
Composite C has a wsdl (c.wsdl) which includes a Request Message. (B will cal it’s request message)
This is my first attempt at using Correlation Sets, so my logic may have some mistakes.
My first goal is to get composites A and B working in the test case where B calls A back directly.
I am using the ID of the original message as a single correlation property.
I think I need to add the following lines somewhere amoung these three wsdl’s:
    <bpws:property name="COR_ABMID" type="xsd:string"/>
    <bpws:propertyAlias
    propertyName="tns:COR_ABMID "
    messageType="tns:requestMessage"
    part="part1"
    query="/inpl:message/inpl:header/icabmcommon:ABMID"
    xmlns:icabmcommon="http://ic.ac.uk/AIAMetaData/AIAComponents/ApplicationObjectLibrary/IC/V1/IC_ABM_COMMON"
    />
    <bpws:propertyAlias
    propertyName="ebmabcs:COR_ABMID "
    messageType="ebmabcs:ProcessTransactionRequestResponseMsg"
    part="part1"
    query="/abm:messageResponse/abm:body/abm:P_CORRELATION_ID"
    />
The problem is that the above code references both the request message in b.wsdl and the response message in a.wsdl.
Do I need to add them all to a.wsdl, add them to b.wsdl or add them to a combination of both a.wsdl and b.wsdl?
Thanks in advance for your advice
    Robert

I have adventually got this working by leavign my MDS wsdl's completly alone and allowing JDeveloper to make lots of reference wsdl's and other changes.
Using source control and backing up every single JDeveloper interaction is essential to get this stuff working

  • Using the mini DVI - DVI cable with HDMI LCD screen?

    Hi,
I bought the apple mini DVI - DVI connector to connect my imac to the back of my plasma. I have a 3 meter DVI cable to extend the mini DVI - DVI connector.
It worked fine but the plasma is not so good for my purposes as i am using the set up to display images.
I have just bought an LG LCD TV for a very good price.
However the LG LCD does not have DVI socket! It has HDMI.
Is there a cable available that is DVI (female) - HDMI?
And will this work in theory?
    Any advise is much appreciated...
    Thanks

    Hi Network 23,
Im not sure what you mean exactly?
Which adapters and cables are you using between TV and Mac?
My PowerBook and MacBook Pro have a DVI port, so I start there. I guess you're starting from the DVI port at the end of your adapter cable. At this point we both start from a standard DVI port.
From there I attach the DVI-HDMI adapter I linked to earlier, and then between that and the HDMI port on the TV, I use a simple, inexpensive HDMI cable also bought at monoprice.com. While you could also use a DVI-HDMI cable, I chose to use a DVI-HDMI adapter so that I could use standard HDMI cables, since I anticipate buying more HDMI components in the future.

  • Digital AV adapter + extender cable?

    Hi,
I have the Apple Digital AV adapter to connect my 4S to the TV via HDMI. It's ok for watching videos or anything not needing input. I'd really like to use it for mirroring games onto the TV but the cable is so short, the adapter gets in the way and is always falling out and it can't be good for the iPhone or the AV adapter. I hoped I might be able to use dock connector extender cable and have tried three so far, all of which say they carry, video, data and charge (17 core) but none have worked so far. Is what I want to do impossible or is there a cable out there which will do the job? Do Apple make such a cable?
Hoping someone out there has done this and can point me to a solution
    Regards, Jeff.

You are correct, I do want the AppleTV , desparately, but persuading the wife will not be easy. I was afraid you were going to give the answer you did, there must be more going on in the AV adapter than a simple pass-thru cable can provide.
I have heard that there is noticable delay when playing games wirelessly on the AppleTV, that would be a deal breaker if so. Anyone comment on delays in gaming?
    Regards, Jeff.

  • Part nunbers for smf Metro cables

Does anyone know the cisco part number for the small jumper cables used to connect the Metro 1500 WCM cards together? They are anywhere from 6 inches to a foot long, mini-SC connectors on both ends.

  • Cable R1005050 (?)

    Bonjour à tous,
Question toute simple à propos du cable NI-R1005050.
    http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/fr/nid/11819

    http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/322072a.pdf

       2. This will open Local Group Plolicy Editor Follow the Screen shots      Double clik on the " Allow the Use of Biometrics " then enable it -> apply and set ok and close all the windows and reboot the system   Now you are almost done...............   Step : 2 ( This is main and the Step 1 too )
     1.  Click on win+x there select device manager
       2. Make sure you should be running this version of validity sensor ( Follow Screen shot below )    If not then Uninstall the drivers and Install them From WIndows update ( not by Hp drivers )  So that windows will install the required files which need  This is because of Windows Hello Now you are done with is ( you should be sure about these 2 steps else nothing works )   Step : 3 There are 2 options for us to use  1. When opened to setting First you need to set pin then only Windows Hello will be turned on ( for Fingerprint option to enable)  c. There click on add and Follow the Windows finger print Instructions

    Hello,

  • The mystery of the 5000 USB cable

Ever since I boyght a 5000 a couple of months ago I have been trying to get hold of a USB cable for it - but it seems that such a thing simply does not exist. Nokia apparently don't make one, and while several other sellers claim to provide one, every one I have looked at so far turns out not to fit the 5000. For most purposes I imagine Blurtooth will suffice - althought not, of course, for software updates. There seems to be simply no way to do s/w updates on the 5000 other than to take it into a Nokia Support Centre. But the real mystery is this - if no cable exists for this phone why does it have a cable socket on the side???
If anyone has an answer to this deeply puzzling question I'd be most interested to hear it.

It's simple, no USB cable exists because it isn't actually a USB port for use by the end user.
It's function is a service port that allows repairs to be carried out to it's software by the professionals at nokia care points. They have to put the port somewhere, inside would have been better but that was probably the only suitable place for it.
The 5000 is a budget model, that is why it lacks the ability to connect to a PC using a standard USB cable. Most budget models also lack the ability to be updated by the user.
If you look at it's sales specifications you will see that nowhere does it mention that this phone has a USB port or cable connectivity. http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/devices/nokia-5000/specifications
If you wanted a phone that you could connect to a PC then you have chosen the wrong model. The 5310 would have been a wiser choice that doesn't cost that much more due to it being slightly older.

  • BT Infinity - Slow - and resyncing often

    Hi everyone.
I just got BT Infinity installed today (14.23) It was working fine for a few hours. I ran a speed test and the test varied 9mbs to 60mbs and the ping was 20/22ms. But now the speed has dropped significantly.
Also the hub broadband light turns orange about 4-5 times today. (it's re-syncing)
With my previous ISP (o2) it done the same thing. They changed something I think it was my profile or something to make it stable. Could the old problem be related to this?
    Here are the stats

:/ Thats strange just to check to see of it is a infinity problem or not,  I just did a speedtest here Wired through 200MBPS homeplugs (so slightly slower than a physical wire and got this):
All i can suggest is to try some more troubleshooting to see if its the PC or the HH to blame.
The first thing you could try is to use the maidenhead server on speedtest.net instead of the london one (as it could be the speedtest server giving dud readings )
What Home Hub Do You Have?
What Ethernet cable are you using? (can you try using a different one if you have one)
What web browser are you using?
and what Operating System is your PC running?
Are the latest drivers installed for your PC ethernet controller? (And is it a 10/100MB Controller?)
If you dont get the questions dont worry as I have put them in technical terms.
Just post back if you dont get them and I will try and explain it simpler.
    Hope this helps

  • Printing on an old HP LaserJet 5p

Hello: I am having problems using thois printer. I am running the latest Tiger OS on an old Pismo Firewire PowerBook. I connected a USB to serial adapter, selected the 5p as a new printer; then my computer said it was installing the required drivers to communicate with the 5p.
I next tried to print from both Acrobat and MS Word. The computer spit out several pages--a combination of blank sheets and garbled text. The text says things like:
    dup33 /zero put
    dup 34 /four put
There are many lines of this.
    Another sheet says:
    %!PS-Adobe-3.0
    %RBINumCopies: 1
    %%Pages: (atend)
    And so on....
This printer worked back when I ran OS 9, but back them, the adapter came with driver software on a disc. I assume that disc won't work on OS Tiger (?).
So, I'm guessing that the solution to this is simple (I hope).
Please let me know if you know what I should do next.
    Many thanks!

    Hi Adam
Instead of using the USB to serial adaptor which is fine on OS 9, for Mac OS X you need a parallel to USB adaptor cable.
I have connected a HP LaserJet 4L to Mac OS X 10.3.9 using a Keyspan parallel to USB adaptor cable. Whilst your printer is a different model they are both LaserJets and use Localtalk / parallel for OS X. You will require the same hardware setup. It is more than a connector, the cable it has a small converter card in it.
    Keyspan parallel USB printer adaptor
With that cable, you would then install the printer again, but this time it will give you the proper output.

  • New 27" has only 1 800 Fire Wire

I am considering buying a new iMac 27". I see that it has only 1, 800 Fire Wire port and no 400 FW port. I use my computer for editing video via FCS3. One of the cameras I have is a Canon XHA1 it's output is Fire Wire 400. I import footage to a external drive which is a Lacie 1.5 tb with a 400-800 Fire Wire port.
Is the connector and cord for 400 & 800 Fire Wire the same or are they physically different?
What is the best way for me to solve this problem? The best work flow? Could I capture from the camera 400 FW into the iMac 800 FW port and then transfer the data to the Lacie?
Of the new iMac 27" models how much faster would the Quad i5 or i7 be over the duo 3.06 model? Let's assume that we were transcoding a 1 gb project? My current computer has a duo 2.16 how would it compare? Is it correct to assume that because 3.06 is almost 50% more than 2.16 that there would be a 50% increase in speed or in other words the 3.06 would do the job in half the time?
    Thanks
    Kent

Having a FW 800 port is no problem, the port will also support FW 400 so connecting to your camera is no issue. The cable connectors are physically different however you should only need an adapter like this
As far as your work flow that's up to you, you can daisy chain your Lacie to the Canon so the iMac will see both devices. That means when you want to import video you can have it go directly from the camera to the Lacie HD if you want.
As far as how much faster the Quad core machines will be is anyones guess at this point because they haven't begun shipping so bench tests have been done. As you probably know they're expected to ship sometime this month, I'm sure that soon after they ship different bench tests will be done and then your can get some real data. When will that be, my guess is within within several weeks of their ship date. Until then everything is speculation and people quoting numbers are guessing, it's just that simple.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Roger

  • Connecting Imac to Emac

Can anyone advise me on the best way to connect an Emac (osx 10.3.9) to an Imac (10.4.7) to access both hardrives and transfer files
    Thanks

    Hi,
If you just want to transfer files from one to another, the best way is, probably, to use 'target disk mode'. This is where you connect both computers with a normal firewire cable. Have one computer turn on (the computer you want to use while transfering) and then turn the other on and hold down the 'T' key.
You will shortly see a floating firewire symbol and then that computer's HDD will mount on the other computer's desktop... simple. Be careful when transfering files though - target disk mode over-rides any permissions on the target computer, so you can potentially mess up your computer if you delete or change something you shouldn't.
If you wanted to network the computers, get a switch (or router/switch if you also wanted both computers to access your internet connection if you have one), connect both computers via airport or ethernet and enable personal file sharing in the sharing pane of system preferences, making sure that the personal fire sharing tick box is ticked in both your firewall and the sharing tabs.
To connect to another computer, the easiest way is to open a new finder window and click on the network icon and then you'll see the other computer - pretty simple!
    hope it helps...
