Simple jsapi (speech) application

I read the tutorial at http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/speech/forDevelopers/jsapi-guide/index.html and tried to create a recognizer with this code:

Compiling works, but running it the nullpointerexception occurs at line 16, the line "rec.allocate();"
why is that so?

hmmm the Speech SDK 5.1 for Windows from MS is "JSAPI-compliant", isn't it?
Is there any free recognizer available supporting the german language?

Speech application (system pref)

why is speech application (system pref) no longer working with Lion? Or at least when I down loaded Lion it stoped working

A bit late, but came across your question and think I can answer it, IF the "software" you were using was Dragon/Nuance. Nuance screwed its Mac customers by selling its software to Snow Leopard-and- prior OS users, then refused to put any effort or money into making it compatible with Mountain Lion, Lion, etc. So, if that's the issue you're dealing with, your only choices are to re-install your old OS, buy the latest ripoff from Nuance for Mac users, or use the native capability that you'll find in Maverics, etc.

Building a simple field based application with OA framework

Hello everyone,
I have an assignment to build a simple form that takes in some parameters and in which some of the fields will be validated with a value set. Using the information from this form, I then have to use the parameters in a PL/SQL function/procedure and return a value of successful or not.
Basically a simple form based application.
I was wondering if it is possible to do this in OA Framework. All I hear about is extensions and personalizations but is it possible to build a simple application with it?
Also, can anyone point me to a good tutorial showing how to build a simple application in OA framework?
Or if OA framework won't do the job, can I use ADF (on oracle 11i) to accomplish this?

I used to have a simple program called logomotion, but it has been discontinued. I just need something that I can just type "Welcome bla bla bla" and it will give me a few options like spin, scroll, random. Like that screen saver on PC where you just type in your companys name and it spins around 3D. (dont need anything crazy like maya,- any ideas!

Need help with simple file sharing application

I have an assignment to build a Java File Sharing application. Since I'm relatively new to programming, this is not gonna be an easy task for me.
Therefore I was wondering if there are people willing to help me in the next few days. I will ask questions in this thread, there will be loads of them.
I already have something done but I'm not nearly halfway finished.
Is there a code example of a simple file sharing application somewhere? I didn't manage to find it.
More-less, this is what it needs to contain:
-client/server communication (almost over)
-file sending (upload, download)
-file search function (almost over)
-GUI of an application.
GUI is something I will do at the end, hopefully.

The user logs in with his nickname and ip address. He defines his own shared folder and makes it available for other users that log on to server.
Now each user has their own list of files from a shared folder. It's an ArrayList.
User manager class is there to store another list, a list of users that are connected with server.
When the user is searching for a particular file, he is searching through all the users and their respective files lists. Therefore for each loop inside a for each loop.
Now the problem is how to connect all that with Client and Server class and put it into one piece.

here in Quebec they implemented a new law for the use of cellular in cars... So for the phone, the star trek look gonna be ok i guess... But for the email part, I was wondering if there is a Text to speech application available for the blackberry?

There are services to do that. You have to buy a subscription, and after that you pay per message read. A Data connection is required since it's web-based.

N8 speech application bug

Hey guys,
I know this is out of topic but I can´t stand this bug anymore...and I am unable to find appropriate thread for it....
how come is whole SPEECH application on N8 so poor???
first off, you´re totally unable to remove **bleep** Martin´s disturbing built-in voice...
then once I try to download let´s say US English pack along with one of available voices, it just says UNCOMPATIBLE with the phone...though it´s right from Nokia site under Nokia N8 speech options...
any opinions?

Creating a simple HelloWorld! Application with NWDS 7.3

Good morning experts!
I have got a problem:
I would like to create a simple "Hello World!" Application (JSP i think) with SAP NWDS (NetWeaver Developer Studio) 7.3.
Then, I want to deploy it on SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3.
First of all, I have set up in the "Preferences" in the NWDS under "SAP AS Java" my NetWeaver Portal 7.3 System.
So: Can you give me a link to a Tutorial, where I can develop such a JSP-HelloWorld-Site, which I can deploy on the J2EE of NW Portal 7.3 ?
I have tried out several Tutorials in the past, but noone I could build, because there were always errors on the Deployment-Descriptor

Trying to do the simple HelloWorld java application for portal

i've been trying to do the simple java application HelloWorld so that i can get a view of how will it be to integrate a pure java application that we have in a later step. The fact is that i've been following "how to build a java portlet" and "packaging and deploying your provider" documents.
i've taken the code from that document:

Hi Urko,
Such an application as you have quoted will not have much luck as a Portlet - the code you supplied simply writes "Hello World" to standard out!
Think of a portlet more like a servlet - you have an output stream to write to which, under the covers, is wired back up to the Portal Server which assembles the content into the page seen in the browser.
Take a look at the extensive range of sample Java Portlets available with the PDK download.
Anyway, from the stack trace it looks like you're using JavaRenderer. JavaRenderer invokes an arbitrarily named method on an arbitrary class **provided** that method takes a single argument of type PortletRenderRequest. So you would need something like:-

Then, the relevant provider.xml section would look something like this....

Simple question - minimize application

I have a simple question to nokia developers. Why I cannot minimize most of my applications in Nokia Asha 302? In Nokia E50 I could. Why are you going backwards in usefulness of your software?

It is not going backward. Asha series is based on s40 OS while E-series on Symbian. s40 doesn't support multitasking while Symbian does.

JSAPI, speech output to file ???

I am not new to Java but using JSAPI first time, I have downloaded an example code which takes an Ascii string and speek accordingly, which can be hear on headphone. This code is working fine.
Now I would like to know that how can I get spoken output to a file, I mean I want to store voice to a file (WAV or any format) generated by the system.
