Simple LV 8.6 vi crashes LV 2010

Hi,
I've a very simple LV 8.6 .vi that causes LV 2010 to crash. On next restart no crash investigation window appears.
It has no dependencies.
Mass compiled in LV 8.6 ok.
Attempting Mass compile in LV 2010 also causes crash.
Does anyone see similar or can explain this?
Thanks,
ds1

Looks like this is a known bug:
242603    LabVIEW 2010 crashes on compile if you have a divide primitive with dominator less than 1 wired to the for loop count terminal (N)
The  0.01 denominator triggers the bug. It is present in LV 2010, I've checked with SP1 (10.01) and appears to be fixed. (I'm not sure what 10.0f4 version is)
The purpose of code is not really the issue, sure it can easily be implemented more effectively/efficiently etc but it it works and in 8.X etc. SP1 will now have to be rolled out to many users (which is a pain)
It is really disheartening when existing code cannot be relied upon with newer versions of LabVIEW and gives us less confidence in this constant upgrading.

Although you have some third-party extensions that may cause this problem, the problem is your NVIDIA graphic card.
You have a Mid 2010 15-inch MacBook Pro. These MacBooks have got a defective NVIDIA graphic card that may cause unexpected restarts, black screens, kernel panics... See > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088
Fortunately, Apple is repairing all of these Macs for free, so make a backup of your data and take the MacBook to an Apple Store or reseller to get it repaired. Another option you have is to use gfxCardStatus and put it into Integrated Only mode, so only the Intel graphic will be used and this kernel panic won't show up anymore. However, this is a temporary solution because you have to take your MacBook Pro to an Apple Store or reseller

  • CS 5.5 Crashes on 2010 Macbook Pro

I've got a 2010 Macbook Pro with 8GB RAM and an nVidia card. CS5 worked great on it, but CS5.5 is a different story. I can create projects, import footage, save, and reopen, but when I add a few items to the timeline, save, and close the project or program, the problems begin. Premiere crashes every time I attempt to reopen the project. I've tried using different drives, different types of footage, logging in as administrator, and a complete reinstall. No success.
I informed Adobe tech support of the problem and uploaded crash logs from the program and OS X for them to view. The really annoying thing is that they've promised twice to call me back in a few days after bumping up the problem to a higher level of tech support, but failed to do so.
Any ideas? I'm still able to use CS5 on this machine but it's extremely annoying that 5.5 is completely useless to me.

MacBook Pro (2009) 3GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB with 256 SSD internal, Lion 10.7.2 (pretty high end mac laptop).  External drives are G-SAFE, SSD 256, Promise SmartStore, etc... all sorts of variations with FW800.  Thought it was external media drive issues at first, bt b een testing and narrowing down for several days.  SImplified it down to no external drives and two small media QT files on my internal drive (SSD) and still crashes often.  Premiere will launch and crach within a few seconds while trying to link files (so it looks like).  In the project window, the icons for the media files will change to video, movie icon etc.. when all is fine and the app stays up.  I can tell when it is about to crash when the app launches and the media file icons remain unknown for several seconds then it seems to time out and crash within a few seconds.  All I do is try to bring up the project again and it will either do the same or launch successfully.  no rhyme or reason.  sometimes it works sometimes it crashes.  i just keep trying until it launches and media files link... then all is fine and I can edit.  VERY frustrating and makes me not at all confident about the product.  But, I realize it is something very strange and probably system-specific related.  Can't imagine this is a normal problem with Premiere.  Just feel its like a needle in a haystack.  I tried reinstalling Lion, clearing cache, etc... with Adobe tech.  just don;t know where to go from here/??  Thanks again for your comments.

  • Mass compile crashes LabVIEW 2010

Anyone have issues mass compiling an application code from 8.6.1 to 2010 SP1 whereby it would seem to work fine for quite awhile then crash?
I tries no cache on the VI and all other items are off.
It seems to happen even in subdirectories of the application.
I just installed 2010 SP1 and the device drivers and when I look at them in isolation they seem to be installed correctly.
I can also load the 8.6.1 application
Im just wondering if Mass Compile is running out of memory and is it known issue or am I discovering something.
I will attempt to log results on the next try.

Hey guys, this is Paul with Applications Engineering at NI.
I have reviewed your issues, asked around, and have a couple tips and questions.
First, if there is any chance you could post your project in a zipped format, then we could examine it on our end and see if we experience the same issue, which would make it easy to file a CAR on.  If you are wary of posting your code publicly, you can PM me, and we can work out a way to upload it to our FTP server that only NI employees can access.
richjoh, in your posted Mass Compile screen, I see a VI being flagged as bad.  When you open this VI on it's own do you experience this problem?  Can you locate in that VI where it calls the NanoMsg.lvclass?
Second, to either of you, were the controls and lvclasses mentioned still referenced in your projects anywhere?  Were they included in the dependencies?  If not, once you restored these files into the project, find them in the
dependencies, right click them, choose "Find">"Callers".  Where they still being called anywhere?
Alternative to your solutions, have you considered creating a new project and adding all of your VIs into the new project?  I have seen this resolve upconverting issues in the past.

  • Viewmail crashing Outlook 2010

I am working with a customer that is using the Viewmail pluggin for Outlook with their Unity Connection system. We are seeing the viewmail pluggin crash after a day or two once it is installed. We have tried removing the pluggin, repairing office, and then reinstalling the pluggin without success. We are using Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 (32-bit) SP1 machines. We ae using Unity Connection 8.6(2a) along with Webview 8.6(7). Attached are the error messages we are getting.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hello Michael,
1.Does the issue happen when you close outlook, open outlook or just random?
2.If you disable any type of remainder including the calendar, do you still
get the error when opening Outlook? This is to rule out the fact that by having any type of remainders enabled
    could pop-up the exception.
    3. Is there any additional add-in installed in Outlook?  It has been seen to fail randomly with other Third Party add-ins for example ClickToCall
If this is the case i would recommend to test VMO without any additional add-ins for a couple of days.

  • ICloud add-in crashes Outlook 2010

I start Outlook 2010 it crashes, so I restart Outlook 2010 & a pop up asks if I want to disable the "iCloud outlook add-in" as Outlook experienced a serious problem. I am using the iCloud that came bundled in with the iTunes 11.1 download i was forced to download to get iOS7 last week.

    Guys, I fixed it.
Click here (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455)to download a clean / separate install of iCloud Control Panel 3.0 for Windows.
Go to Windows program manager or what ever its called & completely uninstall your current iCloud Control Panel 3.0 for Windows. This is most likely the one you got bundled with iTunes 11.1 (was in my case).
Restart PC as per the removal process. Upon restarting install the downloaded iCloud Control Panel 3.0 for Windows. Go through the setup & your off & running.
In my scenario I just ticked everything to ensure I didn't accidentally delete any contacts / tasks / calendar items etc that may have been in one place but not another. I ended up having to delete 300+ double / triple / quadruples of contacts in the iCloud contacts within Outlook but now I'm totally sweet.
    Good luck all

  • T61 Lenovo Thinkpad crashes powerpoint 2010

Just installed Office 2010 on a Lenovo Thinkpad T61 running on MS Windows XP Professional v5.1.2600 SP 3. When we open two or more presentations in PPT 2010 and try to work with them PPT crashes. Sometimes it will crash when trying to open a file. We did not have this problem with Office 2007. I read through some posts and did try disabling (renaming) the Thinkpad send to blue tooth add-in, btsendto_office.dll and also the btsendto.dll files and that did not work.
    Any other ideas?

    Hello,
Does the problem only occur on one ThinkPad T61?  Have you tried it on another, or on different computers?

  • White flash, spinning wheel of death, Mountain Lion, MBP retina, simple piano roll edit then crash WHY ?

I have a brand new Macbook pro Retina OSX Mountain Lion pre installed, Logic Pro 9 studio. I'm running in 32 bit mode, Logic is crashing constantly and all I'm doing is copying a note on the piano roll to another beat. That's all it takes to crash. I will add to this post other functions that cause the crash as time goes on trying to work on a song. Anyone else experiencing this behavior ?

Did some research on the forums, I tried running  Logic 9 in 64bit mode and so far that seems to do the trick. I should mention that I was using 1 instance of BFD drums and quite a few waves plugins. I think the BFD was hogging the memory perhaps.

  • Deleting broken wires crashes Labview 2010

    Hi
I am down to earth after
enjoying all the nice features of LV 2010.
    I randomly encounter
hour-glass hang-up when I try to delete broken wires. This is really
unpredictable as far as I have watched. I t happens if click on a broken with
the mouse or when I select a couple of those. It does not happen, if I use
    ctrl-b.
When you try to delete it,
the hour glass comes up and the window is no longer refreshed.
    I use the task-manger to
    kill LV after
that a wild hard disk action starts, whoever initiates that ??
    After LV-restart I usually
can recover a lot, but this make RAEL work almost impossible.
I a running an English LV
2010f2  on a German WinXP professional.
    And Please, please patch
    this as soon as possible.

    Hi Gabi,
I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying LabVIEW 2010! Can i ask what is the specifiation of the computer you are using it on?
This is because it might be that your computer doesn't have enough memory for this program.
Also there is a patch for LabVIEW 2010, in this link.
    Hope this helps!

  • Simple Set of Characters will Crash Many Mtn. Lion Apps

Apparently typing a few selected characters quickly within many apps in a Mountain Lion system will immediately crash those apps.  It sounds like an urban myth but it's not.  This is just an FYI.  Until this is fixed, the worst that might happen is to receive an email message or imessage that contains those characters.  One of the comments posted to the second Web page below indicates that doing that will crash Mail or Messages on a Mountain Lion system.
    Here's a good description:
    http://9to5mac.com/2013/02/01/dont-type-this-phrase-on-your-mac-unless-you-like- crashing-it-file/#more-260798
Also read the comments posted at the bottom of this page--they have the most useful information:

    Strangely hilarious.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Dries,
    Thank you for contacting us!
Can you provide some more information about the application you're using?
As smercurio_fc noted we do need some extra information about what set of drivers you're using in your code.
If you want to just install LV 2009, then you can also go to ni.com/src (section "Software Upgrades and Maintenance Releases").
Here you should be able to find the right software.

  • Kernel panic on 2010 Mac Book Pro - please help

    Hey Guys
Bit unsure about what to do ……
In december my computer randomly went to a grey screen and told me it needed restarting, never ever had this happen before …..
I restarted and got a report as to why it was happening .
Never thought anything else about it until it happened a day or 2 later, since then this happens every couple of days and sometimes more regularly, at first it was only happening while I was using safari….. so assumed a bug and kept emailing reports to apple …. However more recently it has happened whilst trying to play a DVD, and whilst trying to access a folder….
My computer is less than a yr old but I don't have apple tech support anymore so to phone them will cost , I don't even know how much they charge. ???
I use my laptop a lot to edit video for clients and do NOT what this happening in the middle of an edit … =( Also if I have to send my computer away this is going to disrupt me a lot.
Ive read a couple of other posts about kernel panics ... and have done a RAM test and a apple hardware test, all which come back ok, I also did a disk verify, which came back at first with errors, but they were fixed and now all seems ok ....
Ive also done all software updates and yet still it happens ...
Tbh Ive found this laptop to be very slow on certain things since I have had it, esp when launching finder …. or the dashboard, it take forever to fill in the information and finder takes ages to fill in the mb in each folder etc or to load the app icons .... and often crashes particulary in the app folder, had assumed it a osx bug ... but now not so sure ... Also often get the rainbow beach ball coming up on simple tasks such as clicking save in a application etc for a few seconds ....
can anyone suggest anything ? ? or what i should do, i dont want this happening in the middle of working on a video project etc .
Can anyone read or understand the panic reports ? ?
    15" MBP 2010 2.66 I7 (4GB)

  • Office 2010 unstable

    L.S.
I've recently acquired an Acer laptop running Windows 8.1. I installed Office 2010 (as I already had a license for it). At first. Word, PowerPoint and Excel would continuously lock up after only the slightest of work performed. I killed an Acer plug-in on
all programs and that seems to have fixed the crashes on Word and PowerPoint. However, Excel still keeps crashing. I can't even make text bold... just a few simple clicks and the program crashes. Any quick help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards, Serge

    Hi,
We can also check the App crash dump file to see which file crash Excel:
First enable app crash dump collection by copying following words into notepad, saving it as dump.reg and importing it:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\localdumps\EXCEL.EXE]
    "DumpFolder"=hex(2):63,00,3a,00,5c,00,63,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,64,00,75,\
      00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00
    "DumpCount"=dword:00000010
    "DumpType"=dword:00000001
    "CustomDumpFlags"=dword:00000000
Then, open Excel to repro the issue. If crash issue appeared, please find the crashdump file under c:\.
To further help you, please upload this file into Skydrive and shared the link here.
Also, you can try to analyze dump by yourself if you would like to:
