Simple MPEG videos on to iPod

I'm really sorry... I know this has been asked like a gazillion times, but i still don't quite get how to put MPEGs on to my iPod.
I have a few MPEG music videos and a few hour long TV shows, each time i tried to drag it over, it says that it didn't get put in because the iPod can't play it.
Is there a program that can convert the MPEGs so they'll play?
Any help is appreciated, thanks again!

Though wmv can't be converted by videora right?
As a Mac user, I cannot confirm or deny this staement. Would assume it likely that the application could tap the media tools already built into your system for this but file summary seems to imply that it doesn't. However, it should be a simple matter for you to test. On the other hand, Video Vault to Apple iPod Converter ($$) specifically mentions WMV among other formats as being compatible for conversion.

  • Mpeg video plays in iTunes, but no audio on iPod

I have a 10 minute video that plays fine in iTunes 7.0.1.8 on Widows XP. I did the "Convert Selection for iPod", which then allowed me to download the video.
However, when I play the video on the iPod, there is no sound.
The article "iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302588
describes this same condition, and attributes it to "muxed audio".
The suggestion to do "Show Movie Info" in Quicktime Player did not confirm the format as "MPEG1 Muxed" or "MPEG2 Muxed". Instead the Format field has ", 25971 x 28257, unknown" - kind of an unsatisfactory description.
The video file plays fine in Qucktime Player, it plays fine in iTunes - but it has lost all audio on the iPod.
Does anybody have a fix for this?
    Dave

First, make sure you are running the most recent update on your iPod.
Second, what are you using to convert your video? Have you tried purchasing any of the videos from iTunes? Do they work okay??

  • Dont understand how to convert my videos to my ipod

ok, i downloaded videora and i converted a short movie. now, i dont know what to do from there. i managed to get it into my library, but when i go to "update" nothing shows up in the video section of my ipod. please help, im going crazy. thanks.

Ok. I am at my witts end. I don't know where to start. This is too complicated. I'll try to start at the beginning. I have the videora ipod converter. I have windows. I was able to get a few videos on my ipod (mpeg) but when you go to "videos" they are not there. They are in "movies." AND THEY DO NOT PLAY THE VIDEO!!! The sound plays, but NO VIDEO!!! Nothing seems to be working. What should my settings be in "convert" and in "setup"? I need "DUMMIES" for IPOD 5G. THe only video that plays on my ipod THE VIDEO is the one I purchased from Apple. The videos I have in itunes play normally, except one, the format is probably wrong. I do have several videos in my itunes but I don't know if they are in the correct format to go to ipod. The video converter says "complete", but it never took time to convert it. I just read on apple's website that ipod accepts H.264 and mpeg-4 video. I also can't seem to get my Limewire videos converted. I have read the previous threads and for some reason I just can't get it. Please, someone give me the BASICS in SIMPLE terms. Thanks

  • I can't get the video to my ipod!

I have managed to get movies and video to the computer have no idea how to it to get it onto itunes and then onto the ipod. Please Help!!!
I have 30G Video iPod using a Windows XP environment.

Don't use videora-the majority of video problems posted here trace back to videora.
Otherwise he is right, you need some software to convert the videos to an iPod accepted format.
    The formats are:
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
The above seems pretty scary, huh?
That's why almost all converters have the nifty little single click iPod button.
Mpeg streamclip works well for me, has windows version.

  • Mac programs for transferring video to an iPod

    Hello everyone, first time poster
I just have a couple questions about iPod video. Sorry if I'm creating another thread about getting videos on it, but my questions just have not been fully answered in the other threads.
First off, I'm running Mac OS X version 10.4.3 on a 1.42 GHz eMac. So any programs that are suggested to me that run only on Windows or only show system requirements of Windows are of no use to me.
    Now here are my questions.
    1. How do I get videos on an iPod from a personal DVD? (i.e. movies I created on a single-write disc/re-writeable disc)
    2. How do I get videos on an iPod from a commercially sold DVD? (i.e. any regular DVD you buy at Best Buy, etc.)
    3. What format does the video need to be to get onto the iPod?
    4. What is the best program, free or not, in transferring video to an iPod?
    5. What is the best FREE program in transferring video to an iPod?
    6. Can I download video from a file sharing program (who will remain nameless) then transfer that video to an iPod?
    7. Can I change the format name of a video file that may not play on an iPod (say .wmv a file) to a format name that WILL play on an iPod (I assume it's .mpeg-4)?
    8. How do I transfer video from iMovie to an iPod?
    9. If I buy my iPod at a regular Apple Store (not the online store), get the AppleCare Protection Plan for it, and if a problem arises with the iPod and I take it to the store for support, will I not be serviced based on the content of my iPod?
Again, sorry if these questions have already been asked and answered, but I just feel better that my own personal questions have been answered, and I don't have to tag on other questions to a different thread.

    1. Handbrake
    2. Handbrake
    3. From the iPod tech specs:
"H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats"
    4. iTunes
    5. iTunes
    6. Yes, assuming you convert it first to a supported format. Use iSquint.
    7. You can't just change the file extension, you have to actually convert it. Use iSquint
    8. export a quicktime movie, then use either Quicktime Pro or iSquint to convert it.
    9. No. The content of your iPod will have no bearing on service (unless you install iPodLinux on it, which voids your warranty).

  • STILL can't get Videos into 5G iPod , Ready to throw it out the window

I'm ready to throw this iPod out the window , I spent all day yesterday over 10 hours , trying to get videos onto my iPod , my iPod software and iTunes are up tp date , first I just drag and dropped them as MPEG no luck iTunes recognized and played them but wouldn't let me drag and drop them to the iPod then I used iSquint , it converted them to MPEG 4 , they transferd into iTunes and played but not the iPod I got an error that they weren't transferable and not recognized by the iPod .
I called Appe this morning and they were no help since I didn't get the Vid's from the appple store and since you only get one free service call ,and wouldn't tell me the format for the videos I didn't want to waste it . They suggested I buy Quicktime Pro .
Then I tried , Movies For My iPod . I used the transfer for iPod option , it converted them to .mp4.m4v . I drag and dropped them directly to the iPod no luck , they're there but wont play or show up in the iPod then I opened up iTunes and drag and droppped them into iTunes again played in iTunes not transfered to the iPod although it said it was updating .
Then ,I tried the custom settings file format MP4 , video format , MPEG-4 Improved , Image Size 320 X 240 QVGA , again I tried to drag and drop them onto the iPod still not there , now I tried to drag and drop unto iTunes , again they're there and play but won't show up on the iPod . I've pretty much had it .
In the Movies For MY iPod they're are some custom settings . File Format MP4(ISMA) In the Video there is an MPEG-4 Improved setting with a bit rate of 256 kbits/sec Image size 320x 240 QVGA frame rate 30 plus alot of other settings which I have no idea what they are .
Today I have 6 hours of frustration into this still no luck . I'm really disappointed with Apple ,I started out with the first iMac a Bondi Blue and have been working my way up , I have an iBook , an iMac Graphite , a G4 iMac a 15G 3G iPod now the 5G iPod . Apple should have included Quick Time pro in the G5 , and only one support call, come on , even Dell gives you a year of support .
And to top it all off the Black is beautiful but scratches easily , I'm a chef , my nails very short and allready it's scratched to bits by the wheel, I keep it in a case when I'm playing it , you can hardly touch it . I'm not very happy with Apple and this iPod , they rushed it out for the holiday , so if your in the jacksonville Florida area look for a flying iPod .

Lets run down a list of possibilities:
    1) You are using iTunes 6 here, correct?
    2) You did not say whether or not you are running in auto-sync, manual management, or "Enable Disk" mode. If you left it in the default mode as installed (auto-sync), then after dropping your movies into iTunes (or adding them to the Library), simply connect your iPod and allow it to auto-sync (mirror) the current contents of iTunes. (You can also try "Update iPod" option under the File menu, but I have found it unreliable -- possibly owing to "sleeping" iPod.)
    3) Not sure if your reference to "dropping the movie on the iPod" is a reference to the iPod desk icon in manua/disk enabled mode or the iPod "Source" reference/associaed contents list in iTunes. Could you clarify where you are attempting to "drag 'n drop" and/or the selected sync mode of operation in your iPod Preferences.
    4) As to conversion to iPod compatible formats, recommend you stick with MoviesForMyPod and/or iSquint if you are restricted to QT Pro 6 and not sure what settings to use for MPEG4 preset collection/QuickTime Movie full manual mode.

  • Can I play home video on my ipod touch?

Can I play home video on my ipod touch?

So, the only way to watch home video in ipod touch is via itunes? Because in fact i'm trying to use my ipod touch as a video monitor for my DSLR camera while i use it for filming. I thought i could use the hdmi adapter for ipod touch, but everyone tells me that it might not be possible, so i wont buy it without knowing if it is possible or not. I wonder if it is phisicaly possible, so all we would need for that is someone to develop a softare to use the hdmi adapter to watch a video into an ipod. I say this because my camera has a hdmi video out, but it could be with simple RCA cables too. Someone think it is possible?

  • Video Playback Problems (iPod Classic 120GB)

Hi! I recently purchased my new iPod Classic 120GB but I'm encountering problems regarding video playback.
I downloaded a *music video* from the internet, and the file format is *mpeg video*. I then purchased an iPod Video Converter and thus changed the file to the appropriate one in order to play it in my iPod.
I played the music video first in my iTunes to check whether the video has any problems, but there was none, and it wasn't corrupted. As for my other videos, I have used the same iPod video converter and they were all fine. I then transferred the music video in my iPod.
Problem is, the quality was good and everything, but there are some *slight glitches in the music video*. There wasn't anything wrong with the audio, but with *some of the scenes* in the video itself. I then replayed it, then the *glitch transferred to another scene in the video*.
I then removed the said music video from my iPod, re-converted it, replayed it in my iTunes, then transferred it to my iPod, but the same video still has the same glitch.
So far, I have transferred 10+ music videos in my iPod and they all worked just fine, but I have 6 other music videos that are encountering the same problem with playback.
Does the problem lie with my iPod converter, or in my iTunes, or in my iPod itself? I would like to know.
I would really appreciate some help with this! Thanks!
    For additional information:
    iTunes - latest version 8.1
iPod - recently bought, Classic 120 GB
video converter - Allok Video to iPod converter
video itself - mpeg format, 204 MB

unfortunately its hard to tell where the problem lies... it depeneds on what type of glitch you are talking about. i really hope you didnt actually pay for a video converter... try "ipod video 9" which is absolutely free... top quality and VERY VERY easy to use!!! this program has never caused issues for me. if the issue is with your ipod it may be a delay in information transfer from your ipods hardrive. try defragmenting your ipod like you would your computer in the "my computer" window on windows, this does actually help your ipod read the information on its hardrive faster and should slightly--->drastically improve your ipods performance depending on factors such as how fragmented (jumbled) your files are, how many files you have on the ipod, the size of each file etc.
these are the only things i can think of!!! try both... see how you get on.

  • Can't get videos to 60GB iPod Video

So a few days ago, I updated to iTunes 7.0 and Firmware 1.2. All my videos are in an MPEG-4 format, and now I can't get them to my iPod. They all used to play, but I restored it and now they won't even go on to the iPod. I've also got got it set to manage music and videos manually. I tried to use iTunes to convert it to see if that would help, but when it converts, the new file doesn't appear. And I've been looking back on other topics and it has mentioned the converter called Videora, so I checked that out, but it says it only supports Windows. So how do I get my videos to my iPod?
    Thanks in advance.

Are these music videos located under Videos on your iPod?  Do it play other regular movies (if you have any on the device)?

  • STILL can't get Videos into 5G iPod I give up I'm bringing it back

I have the Black 30GB, after a week of trying iSquint , Handbrake ,Movies for my iPod and now MPEG Streamclip I still can't get videos in my iPod . I give up, it's scratched to bits and I handle it with extreme care . This was the worst $300.00 I've ever spent .

I had trouble with that too, but figured it out. Here are some things to check:
1.) Preferences in iTunes with the iPod connected. I put mine on automatic update of all podcasts, just to make sure nothing is missed.
2.) On the iPod, go to Settings > Main Menu > Videos > On
3.) On the iPod, got to Videos > Video Settings > TV Out OFF, Widescreen OFF, TV Signal (in US is NTSC, in Europe is PAL).
After I configured #3, all worked. I'm not sure the widescreen setting makes a difference, but I do know the TV settings do.
I think you won't have any problems if you go down this checklist. Too bad they don't mention it in Apple support.

  • HELP PLEASE! CANT HEAR THE VIDEOS ON THE IPOD

Please help me, i finally figured out how to put videos on the ipod, but the problem now is that the videos are without sound, i cant hear them please help me im desperate

Your source files are probably one of the "muxed" types -- with audio and video information interspersed in a single data stream. You will need a converter that is MPEG based to transcode the file to an intermediate format which contains separate audio and video information. Then this intermediate file can easily be converted to iPod compatible file by most "common" file type converters. Some applications with perform this double-conversion in a seamless process, but most of these types are not free.

  • How can I put video into my ipod

Please tell me how can I put the videos in my ipod by using itunes? I try to put the DVD but it didnt appeare in my itunes. I cant add the video to my library

Would you happen to know what format the Music Video is that you are trying to import? iTunes can only support a few kinds: MPEG, MPEG-4, and MOV.
Make sure you are converting the file to an iTunes compatible format.
If it is a WMV or AVI, it will probably not work. In this case, find a third-party program to convert these files for you. Search Google for free options.

  • Joining AVCHD clips into a simple MPEG output file

I'm using PE 10 and just tried joining AVCHD 5 clips using the Instant Movie sequence. I saved it as a file for use on a computer. It took nearly an hour to render the file and when it was done, I emded up with an F4V file which requires conversion to something else to view it  or to be able to email the file to others and have them view the movie.   Is there any way in PE to create a simple MPEG or AVI output file?
I don't want to create fancy Projects, just want to be able to merge a sequence of files so anyone with a simple PC or Apple computer can watch the home videos.

Thanks to you both for the hint on scrolling down the list, however, I think the only ones I'm interested in were already visible in the scroll box. Part of the problem is that I'm not sure what I want from a technical spec angle, all I want to do is take the MP4 original files from the camera and create A FILE that will run easily on most computers, whatever format that needs to be. (?)
Anyway, I built another project (didn't do the Instant Movie this time) and output it as an MP4. (The input is from a Sony A55 SLT that they say is NTSC AVCHD and the files coming out have an MP4 extension).  The project MP4 wouldn't run as a video in Windows Media only as an audio source. ???  So I used a converter to change the file to an AVI becuase I've been able to run that type before. Not this time..  Nothing I have on my computer will run this file. So I got the latest version of Windows Media and now the original MP4 output does run, but with some problems. First, the tile page still says YOUR TITLE GOES HERE because I was never able to figure out how to edit the title banner. Then about 30 seconds into the video (approx. 4 minute video) it paused on it's own. When I click right next to the cursor, it starts up again and then in 20 or 30 seconds it goes into high speed until I again click on the timeline. It also replicated my last clip (7th) as the 3rd clip. Very confusing!
I should also mention that I also saved another copy as an AVI file and that output wouldn't do anything.
And even before all this happened, I was dismayed to see that even when I selected DO NOT RENDER before starting the SAVE, as soon as I clicked on SAVE, it started rendering and it took over 2 hours to render and save this 4 minute film.  Ridiculous !!!
A few years ago I used an app where I was able to merge files, add transitions individually, including my own title sheet, and then save it to the DVD format with far less complication than this. It might have been an app tailored toDVD output and therefore been simpler.
